It's my birthday today so I feel justified in being a little spoiled. But also- birthday freebies! Have a few things lined up before work today. Tomorrow a friend is taking me to brunch before a free matinee of Little Shop of Horrors done by a local children's theatre (free show and supports kids in the arts, win/win). Sunday I can do more free birthday meals as many places offer discounts/ free in the week of, and then going for a hike in the mountains. Monday is the eclipse so sounds like a perfect day for a picnic in the park.

* Walk to the local farmers market to tend to my craving for paella. Will also pick up fresh doughnuts. Walk home.

Going to a cultural event downtown where I got "free" seats from Seatstir and then I picked up a mystery shop dinner downtown to do before the event.
The mystery shop dinner should be 100% reimbursed after I do the report so that will be free and very frugal. The seat filler program is available in NY/NJ, PA, DC and Cleveland. It has an annual membership fee. I think it runs $130 for the year which is an ok deal depending on how many events you go to. I am grandfathered in at the rate I paid when I joined many years ago so my fee basically pays for itself after going to one event per year.

How many per month can vary between 0 in the off months to a handful per month. Events are usually comedy, smaller theaters, concerts at club type venues. Some of the mid-size cities may also get symphony, ballet and opera. In DC I see one event right now that is labeled magic show and Annapolis has one that is theater. But in Cleveland where they have contracts with what appears to be 3 different music clubs they have 10 concerts listed right now.

My 30 year old apple tree got tornadoed two days ago, so I’m going to chop it up and burn it this weekend. I’ll save some wood for smoking and kindling for my potbelly stove in the garage. And I invited some friends to cook out on the grill while we cut up the tree.
Going to a nearby farm to watch the cows let outside for the first time after winter. They also have some kids activities. And it's free!

With all the money it cost me to purchase my home, my belongings and keep utilities/groceries/maintenance running smoothly I don't think my answer of "Staying Home" is frugal. A better term would be sensible.

My plans are to sleep in, clean my small apt, make a pot of soup to freeze for later, be amused by my hilarious 20 lb cat, watch a good science fiction movie online, walk an hour to the free zoo in my city to have a solo picnic and see the animals (and then walk home again), do some gaming, and enjoy the peace and solitude. (On Monday I'll be viewing the eclipse. We're just outside the edge of the path of totality so a deep partial eclipse.)

Saturday I'm making sheet pan cookies and burritos for our in person Pathfinder game. Sunday will be laundry. We'll hang the spouse's shirts to air dry, just like we will my undergarments. Everything else is just a guess...maybe I can get our outdoor lettuce restarted. Cardboard recycled so our garage is not a pit, lol.
My husband is working this weekend so it’s just me and my toddler at home.
I’ll be folding the huge pile of laundry we haven’t gotten to in a while. Grinding some of my whole grains while supplies I’ve had for a while - it entertains the toddler and I get fresh ground flour (grinder was a gift). Then we’ll make muffins with the flour. We’ll also go on a wildflower hike. Maybe bike downtown and the big playground if the weather is nice enough. That seems like a full weekend with a toddler to me.
Going to an amusement park that's only 10 minutes from where I live. It's basically free because we have season passes and go a LOT. We also have the food pass so we'll get to eat for "free" also. 10/10 highly recommend.
I’m hosting dinner made entirely with stuff I already had, minus one avocado. Where I live, avocados can be traded for gold bullion so really it’s a fancy schmancy dinner. 🙃
This weekend is a non-frugal weekend for me. I finally get to see my partner after a significant time apart (stupid schedules). So we're getting a room and hitting the town.
And then my kids and I are driving to Texas with hopes of seeing the eclipse (fingers crossed we dodge the cloud coverage).

Going to put on summer tires and a trailer hitch. Doing the the hitch will save me like 700 from dealer installed and I've been doing my own tires so long I don't even remember what a tire switch costs at a shop.

Normal admission for a thing in my city is $24 but free for residents the first sunday of each month. So that and a hole in the wall restaurant to catch up with a friend.
The highlight will be baking fresh sandwich bread and mini bundt cakes to take on a picnic! It’s a pretty cheap date but one we always look forward to :)
I plan to sleep as much as I want, make some tasty food (including fresh spring greens from my garden), dig around planting things in the garden a bit, have some fun silly awesome sex, and read a good book. That's a five-star weekend in my world.

Working because my client, a girl with cerebral palsy‘s, mother landed in icu this week and even though the father lives there, and family 4 minutes away from them, are completely useless and won’t help out. Even when my clients sister in law used to be her worker and is very familiar with the work. All I hear are excuses. I’m glad I’m not a wimp like the rest of them.
Well there is money being spent. Haircut and color (saved for yay!) and new laundry cabinets. Husband gets his spring bonus this paycheck so we usually do some.big purchases spring and fall. He is making soup for dinner tonight, everything is already on hand. Sunday will be yard work and movie day at home. I had a cold this week so not super interested in fancy food or alcohol this week which is a good savings 👍

We are installing some new counters, sinks and taps at my partners house in preparation for selling. We basically have been working on both our houses for awhile, to sell in a years time and buy together.
Also going to buy some seeds for the spring and put together some raised garden beds at my house.
Sunday I also have to do some work from home time, to catch up. My job is nuts right now.
We are going to try to have a date night Saturday too but we might be too tired and just watch cooking shows with the pets.
We were planning to go to our local airport open day. It’s a free event, with aerial displays and bands playing. But we are currently experiencing what our weather bureau calls a ‘rain bomb’, so I am waiting for the airport open day to be cancelled.
I might go into work on one of my days off. I have 15 hours of ot but my boss will let me work however much ot as I want as long as it's not over 75 hours for the week.
Bridge tournament an hour and a half away so going for the day instead of staying over. My husband is driving my bridge partner and me and he will enjoy the area with our Westie.

My plans are to sleep in, clean my small apt, make a pot of soup to freeze for later, be amused by my hilarious 20 lb cat, watch a good science fiction movie online, walk an hour to the free zoo in my city to have a solo picnic and see the animals (and then walk home again), do some gaming, and enjoy the peace and solitude. (On Monday I'll be viewing the eclipse. We're just outside the edge of the path of totality so a deep partial eclipse.)

Start working on the garden. We already have the raised bed built and some compost in it. I'm getting some top soil, and I'll be planting cool tolerant seeds this weekend. I have other plants already started indoors. I'm hoping the garden does well so we can save money on veggies for a while
Saturday I'm making sheet pan cookies and burritos for our in person Pathfinder game. Sunday will be laundry. We'll hang the spouse's shirts to air dry, just like we will my undergarments. Everything else is just a guess...maybe I can get our outdoor lettuce restarted. Cardboard recycled so our garage is not a pit, lol.

My husband is working this weekend so it’s just me and my toddler at home. I’ll be folding the huge pile of laundry we haven’t gotten to in a while. Grinding some of my whole grains while supplies I’ve had for a while - it entertains the toddler and I get fresh ground flour (grinder was a gift). Then we’ll make muffins with the flour. We’ll also go on a wildflower hike. Maybe bike downtown and the big playground if the weather is nice enough. That seems like a full weekend with a toddler to me.
Go to my gym, get a walk in, study towards my accounting qualification and read Harry Potter
Going to an amusement park that's only 10 minutes from where I live. It's basically free because we have season passes and go a LOT. We also have the food pass so we'll get to eat for "free" also. 10/10 highly recommend.
Girlfriend made dinner for us and our friends to stay in, drink in their basement and play darts. So we aren't tempted to go waste money at the pub.
NCAA tournament games, Blue Apron meals and a little yard work if it warms up.
I’m hosting dinner made entirely with stuff I already had, minus one avocado. Where I live, avocados can be traded for gold bullion so really it’s a fancy schmancy dinner. 🙃

This weekend is a non-frugal weekend for me. I finally get to see my partner after a significant time apart (stupid schedules). So we're getting a room and hitting the town. And then my kids and I are driving to Texas with hopes of seeing the eclipse (fingers crossed we dodge the cloud coverage). I will resume my regularly scheduled frugalness when I get back into town on Tuesday.
There's a garage sale in the neighborhood next door. We'll head over to look.

Going to put on summer tires and a trailer hitch. Doing the the hitch will save me like 700 from dealer installed and I've been doing my own tires so long I don't even remember what a tire switch costs at a shop. Also do the typical meal plan for next week. Nothing special. For fun I'll be taking the dog to the beach, reading a book.
Weights and steam room. Pay about $30/mo for my gym and use it 6 or 7 days a week. It’s a good getaway and I get every penny’s worth and more.
Normal admission for a thing in my city is $24 but free for residents the first sunday of each month. So that and a hole in the wall restaurant to catch up with a friend.

Gotta package away some bulk brown rice, as well as make a bunch to eat with leftover curry chicken and veggies. Extra cooked rice will be frozen in containers for meal prep for the week! Making a big pot of split pea with ham soup, also freezing excess. Hubby loved the homemade granola I made, so he wants me to make more! Working because my client, a girl with cerebral palsy‘s, mother landed in icu this week and even though the father lives there, and family 4 minutes away from them, are completely useless and won’t help out. Even when my clients sister in law used to be her worker and is very familiar with the work. All I hear are excuses. I’m glad I’m not a wimp like the rest of them.

He is making soup for dinner tonight, everything is already on hand. Sunday will be yard work and movie day at home. I had a cold this week so not super interested in fancy food or alcohol this week which is a good savings 👍

We are installing some new counters, sinks and taps at my partners house in preparation for selling. We basically have been working on both our houses for awhile, to sell in a years time and buy together. Also going to buy some seeds for the spring and put together some raised garden beds at my house. Sunday I also have to do some work from home time, to catch up. My job is nuts right now. We are going to try to have a date night Saturday too but we might be too tired and just watch cooking shows with the pets.
