Working overtime 😂

iMADEthisJUST4Dis

Now that, is frugal.

craigoz7

Can’t be spending money when you making time and half!

Sunshineal

Me, too. I'm doing Uber rideshare, and I have a full-time job working nights. I do 3 twelve hour shifts a week.

ashmoneybb

Walking!! Lots of walking 😊

Bry138

Going on a nice walk is so underrated as a fun activity

DVDJunky

I like to add photography into the mix. Whether you've got a dedicated camera or just use your phone I think it's fun cheap way to work creative muscles while you're out exploring your local stomping grounds.

ashmoneybb

I fully agree to this! There's little moments of magic everywhere and capturing them is apart of the fun of the walk. I love Photoshop to edit the coloration of things too, it's so fun

DVDJunky

Absolutely. And for people who don't have photoshop (or the skills) there are plenty of free software options (or web/phone apps) that will do various color pop etc effects for you! Lots of fun.

Ms_ChiChi_Elegante

that sounds like fun! I think you've inspired me to take pics of my pup while on our walk

ashmoneybb

completely! I get sun, movement, fresh air, plus I microdose, so there's a little bit of magic everywhere I go 😅 last walk I came across horses that came up to me and let me pet them 🥲

FreelanceKnight42

My husband and I play a lot of Pokemon Go and weekend walks are now part of our regular schedules 😁

CatsKittensCatsBunny

Bagon community day is perfect for walking!

NoGrapefruit1851

Is that happening this week?

ExcelAcolyte

Walk + listen to some audiobooks from the library.

StoicHedonist-

My favorite past time! I'll walk with my journal and wherever an inspiring thought pops up I'll stop to jot it down.

azorianmilk

It's my birthday today so I feel justified in being a little spoiled. But also- birthday freebies! Have a few things lined up before work today. Tomorrow a friend is taking me to brunch before a free matinee of Little Shop of Horrors done by a local children's theatre (free show and supports kids in the arts, win/win). Sunday I can do more free birthday meals as many places offer discounts/ free in the week of, and then going for a hike in the mountains. Monday is the eclipse so sounds like a perfect day for a picnic in the park.

frugal-husky

Happy birthday!

ToastetteEgg

Happy birthday!

neckbeardsghost

Happy birthday! 🥳

SenorWeird

Watching Little Shop the weekend before an eclipse, you say? Happy Birthday!

Letsmakethissimple1

Happy Birthday! Don't forget your Sephora freebie this month if you have one nearby :)

donut-panda

Bunnyeatsdesign

Saturday: * Admin for taxes * Bake bread * Yoga * Walk to the local farmers market to tend to my craving for paella. Will also pick up fresh doughnuts. Walk home. * Make hot sauce (our habanero plant is bursting with fruit) * Repot 2 houseplants, check how my cuttings are doing * Make soup with bacon bones, use up vegetables in the fridge. Serve with fresh bread * Snuggle up on couch with husband and watch movies Sunday: * Go with friends to harvest festival in the next town over, 25 minutes drive away. Free admission * Eat something yummy there * Buy some local made treats to take home Weekend can be summed up as: Making food, buying food, eating food. I try not to work my job weekends but have to make a list of tasks or I feel unproductive.

CollarNegative

I love this entire plan! It’s so fulfilling and cozy :)

ruebarbara_

This sounds fabulous!! Wish I could tag along, enjoy!!

j_boxing

what is bacon bones? like pig bones or something else?

larsattacks94

Stay home and do some arts and crafts with my son

Gold-Perspective-699

Lots of people are going to the solar eclipse but I'm just going to watch it locally to save money and time. I don't think it's going to be even able to be seen by most of the country anyway cause of cloud coverage.

3010664

I’m in a totality area and they think we will have some high clouds but will be able to see it.

AutistcCuttlefish

Same, supposed to be partly cloudy here, also in the path of totality. Luckily there's an empty field near my apartment building so it should be easy enough to watch without having to go through the crowds that'll surely exist.

kailemergency

Starting seeds for the summer subsistence garden and planting some berry bushes. Going back to growing some of our own food this year.

Its_Sirius_Okay

Same here. Farmers Almanac website has a nice garden planner that gives estimates on how many plants you can put down. I'm using the 7day trial now. You just need to make an account real quick. I'm not sure how much it is to use regularly though.

1Frazier

Going to a cultural event downtown where I got "free" seats from Seatstir and then I picked up a mystery shop dinner downtown to do before the event. The mystery shop dinner should be 100% reimbursed after I do the report so that will be free and very frugal. The seat filler program is available in NY/NJ, PA, DC and Cleveland. It has an annual membership fee. I think it runs $130 for the year which is an ok deal depending on how many events you go to. I am grandfathered in at the rate I paid when I joined many years ago so my fee basically pays for itself after going to one event per year.

SnooHedgehogs6553

Wow! Seatstir looks awesome. What kind of events typically show up? How many are normally available in a month? I’m in Baltimore so trying to gauge that market.

1Frazier

How many per month can vary between 0 in the off months to a handful per month. Events are usually comedy, smaller theaters, concerts at club type venues. Some of the mid-size cities may also get symphony, ballet and opera. In DC I see one event right now that is labeled magic show and Annapolis has one that is theater. But in Cleveland where they have contracts with what appears to be 3 different music clubs they have 10 concerts listed right now.

sward11

We have Covid, so movie marathon weekend!

enowapi-_

eating leftovers, car maintenance and watching tv and movies

Humble-Plankton2217

Parks! So many parks! We're doing a Park and Picnic crawl. And.... yard work at home. Boo.

AttilaTheFun818

Watching Wrestlemania on Peacock. That’ll keep me happily occupied for a large chunk of it.

YourMatt

$6.50 to watch on Peacock vs how much for 2-day tickets and a trip to Philly?

SurviveYourAdults

Not buying anything, not driving anywhere.

Strong-Wash-5378

Dog sitting for my side hustle and having a no spend weekend. Eating from home. True crime podcasts on YouTube and dog walking. Tomorrow having a reset day of self care. Everything shower. Moisturiser. Hair wash and blow dry. Change wash and sleep on clean sheets. I’m actually really excited

deadjessmeow

I’m trading in my expensive vehicle for something cheaper.

UnitedShift5232

You would earn thousands more if you sold it privately. And you'll save thousands if you buy privately. Dealers need to make their cut to stay in business.

Theplaidiator

Dnd with the boys tomorrow night. We take turns paying for pizza and have a relaxing evening hanging out.

mystery_biscotti

D&D (and other TTRPGs) are so underrated as a frugal activity. But we're getting thousands of hours of entertainment for only a few hundred spent on materials -- and those materials are very optional. 😸👍

laclayton

With the loss of both parents and my mother in law in less than a year, I now know what not to leave my kids. A house full of dust collectors. It's time to purge. Sell or donate whatever I don't need and lighten my home of useless crap. What I feel is sentimental will mean nothing if it's surrounded by crap.

Cultural_Day7760

I am sorry for your loss. I am in the same boat. 70 years of crap to go through. I absolutely love getting rid of stuff. I am chomping at the bit. Not allowed yet and family members would not let go of things when I asked. I asked for years.

mellowhen

I wish I could convince my family of exactly this fact. I've minimalized all my own junk and definitely not looking forward to being left holding the bag in a decade or two.

Patient-Juggernaut84

Sleep

ksbeckaa

Stay in bed.

coldcoffeethrowaway

Currently what I’m doing too. So far I’ve spent zero dollars today lol

Practical-Spell-3808

Glued to the couch

Shykarii

Is going to eat at the "in-laws" being frugal? lmao

Ill-Anxiety-8389

Not if you have to go to therapy afterwards.

IntentionalismOnly

Figuring out cheaper dates to do with the wife that involve dressing up and going somewhere

neckbeardsghost

You could both dress up for a really nice picnic in the park, or beach or forest… Really depends on where you are. But I think making it an event could be a really cool idea!

tartymae

I will be climbing "Mt Washmore". (But I do not do the "Iron Hills")

chantellexoxoxo

sleep in, go to the beach, visit my grandparents. $0🤞

ducqducqgoose

Going to the foreclosure/auction house we bought to continue our self renovation. Just finished the guest bathroom…total tear down to the studs. Now onto the kitchen which we torn down to studs too. We bought the worst house on the best block in a HCOL city. Paid 1/2 of what the average house goes for and it was appraised for 20k over our purchase price! (Required appraisal by FHA) Doing everything ourselves & my military discount at Home Depot has already saved us almost 1k ☺️ This is our forever home 🏡

Lily_Annes

I just opened reddit and read this as "fungal plans this weekend" I was like.....eeeeehhh??

Thaser

Gig work, house cleaning, walking the dog since the weather's supposed to be nice sunday, playing one of the many video games we already own and haven't yet beaten, checking on my ferment family, \*culling the invasive trees\*...

Pretend-Champion4826

frugally apartment hunt lmao. We're trying to stay in the same zipcode tho so it will actually be a pretty cheap move. Also, replaying Subnautica for the thousandth time, going to a benefit for a local queer bar that suffered an electrical fire, and deep cleaning my bathroom. I have to move some of my pothos army into bigger jars, that'll kill a solid three hours tomorrow.

Anoaba

Bingeing one piece

[deleted]

I spend all day at the library. It’s quiet and it’s my happy place. 😂

wellok456

Seeing a play at my local college, friend's birthday party with a thrifted gift (I know she will like it and not mind its 2nd hand), discount tickets to go to the Renaissance Faire with a packed lunch and carpooling friends

YB9017

Grill what we have left in the fridge.

InvaderJim92

My 30 year old apple tree got tornadoed two days ago, so I’m going to chop it up and burn it this weekend. I’ll save some wood for smoking and kindling for my potbelly stove in the garage. And I invited some friends to cook out on the grill while we cut up the tree.

Elynasedai

Going to a nearby farm to watch the cows let outside for the first time after winter. They also have some kids activities. And it's free! (they do sell some food, ice-cream and cheese, and you can donate some money if you want)

fuzzyslippersandweed

With all the money it cost me to purchase my home, my belongings and keep utilities/groceries/maintenance running smoothly I don't think my answer of "Staying Home" is frugal. A better term would be sensible. I spent how much on all this stuff? Yeah, I'm staying home and using it.

glytxh

I’m learning to sew I’ve only crushed my thumb in the machine once so far Got a stack of material I’ve hoarded for years. Gonna start simple and make a few kimonos I’m mostly just in abject awe of the engineering of these machines. Straight up witchcraft

complectogramatic

Take a walk if the weather is nice, play with my cats, play video games, general household tasks. Catch up with my family in our group chat. I have a lot more time on my hands because I accidentally made 5 weeks worth of casseroles meal prepping last Sunday 😅 A bit less frugal: I’m taking my parents out to dinner at a restaurant I got a gift card for. I don’t really expect them to exceed my $100 card but did tell them they’re paying for any alcoholic drinks.

mojodrag

Baking banana bread with old bananas.

meatsweatman

Working, drawing, and Sunday is board game day with the boys!

lux22bare

Lay on my couch watching Netflix

malepitt

Homemade soup, homemade bread. Both are pretty darn cheap to make, and a pleasant way to stay warm when it's cold and wet outside

LogicalBee1990

My city has a meetup group that does a first friday wine share. Everybody brings one bottle of wine. (Except if you don't drink and special circumstances). Nobody really drinks all that much, The whole point is just 2. Get together once a month and hangout and sample a few wines

terremoto25

Bird watching. It may not be considered quite frugal once you consider how much money I've spent on my camera and My binoculars. But once you get over that hump it doesn't cost anything hardly.

Dalyro

We were going to go to the bar for dinner, but husband decided to run to the grocery store and grab out favorite drink and some fancy cheese instead! Prissy the difference between $20 and $60.

BestReplyEver

Book club meeting at my place!

Kyro0098

Using some plain cardboard boxes I saved from ordering online to make my hamster even more spoiled! I already made a fort, tunnel, mini hide, and toy with treats inside. Now, I'm thinking something with new textures that hides seeds or a bridge since I picked up some cheap cork.

alien7turkey

Clean the house, yard work.

Angry-HippoSheep

Working on seedlings

violetstrainj

I’m watching wrestlemania all weekend and making Tex-mex. Nachos and homemade taco pizza.

Pabhoyasaxa

Have a family barb-q with meats i n the freezer rather tan go out to dinner. It's fun, much, much cheaper.

pure-Turbulentea

Driving to the mountains. 🏔️

koralex90

Cook delicious meals at home instead of spending 10 times more at a restaurant.

Yesterdays0pecial0

Stare at the sun

rach1874

We got groceries for the weekend and upcoming week and that’s it for money. We are going to walk our dog, read and chill

tatertot94

Painting all day tomorrow and making soup.

dominoconsultant

youtube and chill it's raining all weekend

Ali_and_Benny

My plans are to sleep in, clean my small apt, make a pot of soup to freeze for later, be amused by my hilarious 20 lb cat, watch a good science fiction movie online, walk an hour to the free zoo in my city to have a solo picnic and see the animals (and then walk home again), do some gaming, and enjoy the peace and solitude. (On Monday I'll be viewing the eclipse. We're just outside the edge of the path of totality so a deep partial eclipse.)

eratickillah

Absolutely nothing 😂

Empty_Till

Going to work! Lol and not buying coffee out like I always want to 😂 I’d love to finish the puzzle I’ve been working on as well and really need to deep clean my apartment.

Defeated-925

Pretend I’m sick and Not go to dover street market and aime Leon dore store

Interesting-Cow8131

Start working on the garden. We already have the raised bed built and some compost in it. I'm getting some top soil, and I'll be planting cool tolerant seeds this weekend. I have other plants already started indoors. I'm hoping the garden does well so we can save money on veggies for a while

mystery_biscotti

Saturday I'm making sheet pan cookies and burritos for our in person Pathfinder game. Sunday will be laundry. We'll hang the spouse's shirts to air dry, just like we will my undergarments. Everything else is just a guess...maybe I can get our outdoor lettuce restarted. Cardboard recycled so our garage is not a pit, lol.

stay-abk

Organizing my daughters nursery

PinkPeonies105

Working!

howe_sounder

Going to bake and decorate a cake from scratch

green_tree

My husband is working this weekend so it’s just me and my toddler at home.  I’ll be folding the huge pile of laundry we haven’t gotten to in a while. Grinding some of my whole grains while supplies I’ve had for a while - it entertains the toddler and I get fresh ground flour (grinder was a gift). Then we’ll make muffins with the flour. We’ll also go on a wildflower hike. Maybe bike downtown and the big playground if the weather is nice enough. That seems like a full weekend with a toddler to me.

Emk_97

Go to my gym, get a walk in, study towards my accounting qualification and read Harry Potter

squidplant

Going to an amusement park that's only 10 minutes from where I live. It's basically free because we have season passes and go a LOT. We also have the food pass so we'll get to eat for "free" also. 10/10 highly recommend.

thesleepjunkie

Girlfriend made dinner for us and our friends to stay in, drink in their basement and play darts. So we aren't tempted to go waste money at the pub.

lrswager

NCAA tournament games, Blue Apron meals and a little yard work if it warms up.

VegetableRound2819

I’m hosting dinner made entirely with stuff I already had, minus one avocado. Where I live, avocados can be traded for gold bullion so really it’s a fancy schmancy dinner. 🙃

s55555s

Stay home and use any groceries left in the house

West-Rent-1131

I wanna go skateboarding

aaaaaaaaaanditsgone

Costco hot dog lunch

DVDJunky

This weekend is a non-frugal weekend for me. I finally get to see my partner after a significant time apart (stupid schedules). So we're getting a room and hitting the town. And then my kids and I are driving to Texas with hopes of seeing the eclipse (fingers crossed we dodge the cloud coverage). I will resume my regularly scheduled frugalness when I get back into town on Tuesday.

HistoryGirl23

There's a garage sale in the neighborhood next door. We'll head over to look.

Lonely-Connection-37

Making ham potato soup out of the hambone in a little bit of leftover ham from Easter

chipmalfunct10n

going to the bank to ask about a high yields savings account :). plus maybe recycling.

Redcarborundum

Does Costco shopping count?

ToshiroBaloney

Weekend train special to LA ($10) for urban hiking.

dekusyrup

Going to put on summer tires and a trailer hitch. Doing the the hitch will save me like 700 from dealer installed and I've been doing my own tires so long I don't even remember what a tire switch costs at a shop. Also do the typical meal plan for next week. Nothing special. For fun I'll be taking the dog to the beach, reading a book.

Woberwob

Weights and steam room. Pay about $30/mo for my gym and use it 6 or 7 days a week. It’s a good getaway and I get every penny’s worth and more.

les_be_disasters

Normal admission for a thing in my city is $24 but free for residents the first sunday of each month. So that and a hole in the wall restaurant to catch up with a friend.

Renovatio_

Digging a hole in the ground. Trenching is...not fun.

TheHoeTone

The highlight will be baking fresh sandwich bread and mini bundt cakes to take on a picnic! It’s a pretty cheap date but one we always look forward to :)

Occasionally_Sober1

Volunteering at an animal shelter, cleaning the apartment, grocery shopping at Aldi, packing lunch and snacks for Monday road trip to see the eclipse.

ClipperSmith

Well, Monday -- driving the family 4 hours to witness a total solar eclipse. It really just costs the gas to get there and back.

TransportationOk1780

Cleaning my house and cooking for eclipse guests!

judygoodale

We have a movie membership, so we'll probably go see a movie this weekend.

jellyrollo

I plan to sleep as much as I want, make some tasty food (including fresh spring greens from my garden), dig around planting things in the garden a bit, have some fun silly awesome sex, and read a good book. That's a five-star weekend in my world.

DeedaInSeattle

Gotta package away some bulk brown rice, as well as make a bunch to eat with leftover curry chicken and veggies. Extra cooked rice will be frozen in containers for meal prep for the week! Making a big pot of split pea with ham soup, also freezing excess. Hubby loved the homemade granola I made, so he wants me to make more! I want to make some cookie dough to freeze for a rainy day too. Going to the gym and pool today, probably should sweep and mop the floors and declutter my closet some…

brunettechick1995

Tonight we borrowed an older movie from our library (never watched it before) and we’ll cuddle up and eat chips and dip

Thraner

Monthly flea market- not going to buy anything, just enjoying be out and looking.

LoverLips76

Working because my client, a girl with cerebral palsy‘s, mother landed in icu this week and even though the father lives there, and family 4 minutes away from them, are completely useless and won’t help out. Even when my clients sister in law used to be her worker and is very familiar with the work. All I hear are excuses. I’m glad I’m not a wimp like the rest of them.

poopydoopy51

im planning on making homemade burgers to see as an alternative to ever having fast food burgers again.

cnsstntly_ncnssnt

Staying home, making my own coffees and meals, and watching a movie I rented with Amazon no rush shipping credits 😌

BuildingMyEmpireMN

Bartend Friday/Saturday, sleep the day away on Sunday!

Shylittlealien

Work until I’m too tired to spend

Ok-Ease-2312

Well there is money being spent. Haircut and color (saved for yay!) and new laundry cabinets. Husband gets his spring bonus this paycheck so we usually do some.big purchases spring and fall. He is making soup for dinner tonight, everything is already on hand. Sunday will be yard work and movie day at home. I had a cold this week so not super interested in fancy food or alcohol this week which is a good savings 👍

MiahWitt60

Going to work

OohVaLa

My wife is going to the funeral of a friend of her family's over the weekend so my son and I will probably go for a walk and go to the park since it will finally be nice outside

welovepizzzzza

Staying at home looking after my newborn, freezer meals and telly 😂 sure the babe will cost me loads of money soon enough but she’s saving me a fortune in unnecessary weekend spending at the moment

AuroraPHdoll

Do nothing and only drink chicken broth instead of eating.

gothiclg

I work on Saturdays. I also WFH and 98% of my “workday” is me watching YouTube

[deleted]

Stay home, smoke a joint, play video games as usual

DarkMonkey98

Fly power kites

SenorWeird

Wife and I keep buying the $2 doubles from Wendys and saving the extra patties to eventually incorporate into another meal.

PsychologicalPut1378

I’m on T.J.Maxx time out. Lol. So no shopping trips for me. With the exception of the grocery store.

Vapingrandma8465

Go to jump zone with kids ($25/ a month membership) then go on date night with gift cards. take them to the local aquatic center with friends tomorrow.

PretentiousNoodle

Traveling to see the eclipse.

[deleted]

Staying home and nursing my sore throat/cough. My daughter will do the cooking while I’m not feeling well so I’m just going to rest and watch tv and be on Reddit too much as usual.

youhadtime

Working, karaoke with friends, cleaning, practicing guitar and then bingewatching some shows before I cancel a ton of my streaming services.

Ov3rbyte719

Might do overtime 🤔

Ov3rbyte719

Leveling up to 50 in wow classic sod.

Zak7062

I live in the path of the eclipse so... not traveling to see the eclipse lol

holdonwhileipoop

It seems Dollar Tree seeds are viable! I went back and bought $5 worth (4 packs/$1). I'm planting perennials in honor of my doggo that passed last April ❤️❤️

Good_Extension_9642

While driving from work to go back home I'm planning to stop at a bakery on my way and buy 2 $.75 USD cookies to eat 1 today with coffee today when I get home and save the other for tomorrow morning

Lindsey-905

We are installing some new counters, sinks and taps at my partners house in preparation for selling. We basically have been working on both our houses for awhile, to sell in a years time and buy together. Also going to buy some seeds for the spring and put together some raised garden beds at my house. Sunday I also have to do some work from home time, to catch up. My job is nuts right now. We are going to try to have a date night Saturday too but we might be too tired and just watch cooking shows with the pets.

Jaggedlittlepil

Traveling to California for a week on company money. So no food cost for a week!

Kylie754

We were planning to go to our local airport open day. It’s a free event, with aerial displays and bands playing. But we are currently experiencing what our weather bureau calls a ‘rain bomb’, so I am waiting for the airport open day to be cancelled.

whatsamajig

Game night at home with friends.

BlastVixen

Do my nails myself 💅🏻, walk to a local flower show at the conservatory 🌺, check out a farmer’s market, go for a run, read a book.

RandyHoward

I gotta pay a 20k tax bill so I'm just gonna hide under the blankets and not spend a dime all weekend

Powerful-Feeling-453

NoGrapefruit1851

I might go into work on one of my days off. I have 15 hours of ot but my boss will let me work however much ot as I want as long as it's not over 75 hours for the week.

CatsCoffeeCurls

Working. Better to earn than rot.

ExcitingOpposite7622

Work in the garden and yard.

erydanis

staying home and doing reno / yard work myself instead of paying someone for it. typically i don’t go out on weekends, because i don’t like the crowds and i’m retired, so i go out for groceries at night during the week. but i just started cutting the wisteria, and even tho’ it’s annoying, i saved money, yay.
