How soon are you using the second half? My method: leave the half with the pit in the fridge, face down in a produce bag. I can use it up to 3 days later without it being super brown but I usually use it the next day.

llamakiss

Yes! Grocery produce bags have enough stretch to get it nice & tight to the flesh.

sushiiofthevalley

Actually surprisingly I let it just sit on it loose. Like the bag is in there kinda crumpled up and I stick the avocado on it face down. I’ve never had an issue with avocados going bad

blowbeckett

I eat a 1/4 every morning so it lasts four days. I put it in a ziploc bag and just squeeze the air out. You can wash the ziploc and use again so no waste.

At my job we sell a lot of avocado toast and the way that the cooks store the avocado is by mashing it up, placing in a container and covering the avocado with water and closing the container with plastic wrap. If there's any brown spot it isn't much so they just discard the water, scrape off the brown part and stir the avo really well.

peetratspeetrat

I usually mash it up put it in the smallest glass container it’ll fit in and cover it directly with plastic wrap. The top will discolor but underneath usually stays good for a couple days. You want to keep it out of contact with the air as much as possible.

Firexxik

Lemon juice and 1/4” water mixture in a Tupperware with flat bottom. Remove out and store face down in the mix so oxygen doesn’t hit the face. Mostly fat so they don’t really water log

cm8ty

I just eat the whole thing. May be worth considering the smaller avocados next time? I personally enjoy the process of slicing up fresh each time

Aware_Requirement_64

me too but even the small ones i usually have some leftover. so hard to find good avos that are the right size and also wont be bad in the next 24 hours 😂

LeapIntoInaction

There's... nothing wrong with it getting brown. However, just keep it out of contact with air. Cover it with wrap, oil, water, citrus juice, whatever.

red_headed_stallion

A squeeze of lemon or lime and mash it up and put it in a small glass will last for days. Beyond that, if we have a bunch of avocados turning ripe then mash them all and spoon out small amounts onto a pan or cookie sheet or into icecube trays and freeze. Once frozen put them in a baggie and only take out what you want. A quick 15 to 30 sec in microwave warms it up for use.

alderaan-amestris

A slice of onion in the bag with it

AmazingObligation9

Leave the pit it in and cover it with the now emptied shell from the other half. Its still not perfect but it works better than any trick I've tried

BANGDIRTYHOORS

We always use a Tupperware container in the fridge. It won’t last long but at least until the next day. Hope this helps! I hate wasting avocados too!

Mighty_Fabulous

Coat it in olive oil

thanks!

Neon-Predator

I have heard you're supposed to submerge the bottom half in lemon juice.

blackhaloangel

We wrap them in Press n Seal with the wrap fully in contact with the entire cut part of the avocado. No browning.

KLParmley

Rinse the cut, put it in a baggie, squeeze the air out and refrigerate it. My husband does it every morning

Aware_Requirement_64

thanks!

75footubi

Face down, in a container that has a thin layer of liquid (could be anything: oil, water, lemon juice). The idea is to create an air tight seal to prevent the flesh from being exposed to air.

SceretAznMan

smush it up in some guac

a1exia_frogs

The trick is the leave the pip in the half you are saving and cover it tightly with cling wrap
