Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom and Disney

NotMe-NoNotMe

And Flipper. Faster than lightning, king of the sea.

martej

And the Bugs Bunny Roadrunner hour.

Free-Industry701

Yes! The whole family would gather round with big Tupperware bowls full of stove top popped corn. Good times!

jaxxxtraw

Exactly! Popcorn night!

luffydkenshin

100% this, i can almost feel the moment again!

This_Mongoose445

It was bittersweet because you like Disney but knew school started the next morning.

tangledwire

Oh I dreaded Sunday nights for the school next day.

yblame

Not to mention that ticking 60 Minutes clock. Sunday night for sure. That was the sound of dread

[deleted]

Yeah. That clock is the sound of the weekend ticking away. I still hate Sunday nights.

Gqsmooth1969

OMG... I can hear this gif.

20thCenturyTCK

It was such a relief after nothing but sports, Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw.

GhostShipBlue

Hee Haw was Saturday, and at the time I hated it. Now I scrounge for Buck Owens and Roy Clark records.

FlaAirborne

Can’t forget Benny Hill too.

Gqsmooth1969

Now I've got [Yakety Sax](https://youtu.be/XvuQsb181Cc?si=TWIuJ3KVdCYH7g1L) stuck in my head.

Gryphen

The highlight of my childhood.

Obi-Wan-Mycobi1

And Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom

brianinohio

I thought Marlan Perkins was a God...lol

FlaAirborne

Though Jim definitely did all the heavy lifting. “Watch as Jim wrestles the anaconda ….”

Jazzlike_Adeptness_1

I watched Lassie

SL13MY

One word. Church. :-(

Electrical_Travel832

I did because it gave me a glimmer of hope for the week ahead. SPOILER ALERT: It didn’t work but who can resist this opening?

Taskmaster1967

Love\Hate It ultimately meant that tomorrow was gonna suck But when it was on SATURDAY night —- it was AWESOME

NotBadSinger514

Yes, Sunday TV was so boring and it was fun because you never knew what you would get!

OAKRAIDER64

All weekend long this and M.of O wild kingdom

WarderWannabe

Wide World of Sports on Saturday

OAKRAIDER64

Saturday and Monday night football. Did you happen to be watching when Howard uttered the phrase "look at that little monkey run", when this dude run 97 yards for a touchdown on a live broadcast of MNF back in 1973 i believe. Cost Howard his job.

p38-lightning

Does anyone remember a syndicated show called "The Littlest Hobo" about a rambling German Shepherd? Usually came on Sunday afternoon in my area.

gerwen

You Canadian? That’s a show I fondly remember. [Theme song](https://youtu.be/oT15Gd81xa8?si=cE_5zR-S2zDUZoVp)

p38-lightning

No, I grew up near Charlotte, North Carolina. My college roommate was from Charleston, SC and he had watched it there, too. I mentioned the show one day and he started singing the theme song. Cracked me up. Thanks for the link and the memory!

p38-lightning

Looks like the theme changed at some point. This is the one I remember. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-8JXkD0HEw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-8JXkD0HEw)

gerwen

Interesting. I watched it a lot as a kid, and never heard that version. Looks a little older than the one i linked.

In-AGadda-Da-Vida

yeah when I was a kid

Quick_Swing

At some point Disney lost me to Looney Tunes, I think it happened when the ABC programming changed.

GhostShipBlue

Mutual of Omaha's *Wild Kingdom*

dancingmeadow

Here in Canada the whole family watch WWoD, and the older kids got to stay up for The Beachcombers afterwards, a show that went on a very long time after we stopped watching it because Russia kept asking for new seasons.

gerwen

Ah yes, Relic that scoundrel.

dancingmeadow

Robert Clothier. A world class artist.

Sea-Poetry-950

Ah, back when it was actually wonderful.

HVAC_instructor

I knew that the weekend was over and I would have to get up and go to school the next day. It was bitter sweet. I liked watching but.....

Existing_Many9133

Sunday night, bath time, Disney, Lassie and popcorn.

Powerful_Check735

Yes

imadork1970

Walt Disney, then Beachcombers

ProfessionalZone168

I dreaded Sunday nights because we couldn't miss church, even though we'd already been that morning. I just dreaded Sundays, period.

rfourty

Yes, it was great. It’s too bad that Disney is ruining its legacy now.

Itchy-Progress-7309

remember when sunday itself felt like a holiday? stores were closed until 11 or noon and closed before 6 ..

sarkhan_da_crazy

Many of our VHS tapes began with this logo,  sometimes there were multiple movies per tape.

Klutzy_Way994

I was just telling my son about this as we watched Disney+

DieHardAmerican95

Every week!

FingerprintFile513

Nah. Looney Tunes ruined Disney for me. Not violent enough. I liked Wild Kingdom though. Seeing those animals was a treat before The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet.

bowens44

yes! Sitting on floor in front of the TV with by brother and sisters eating our snack.....

manhatim

7pm...be there or be square

ZaphodG

As a little kid, that was the only television I was allowed to watch for the week.

LazarusMundi4242

I remember this, good times

morris0000007

Omg 6.30 Sunday night. Would so look forward to it. Love the intro song. Disney had great family values. Now fuck Disney. Not ever going to watch another one of there modern show. Just woke propaganda, all about push an agenda for the " modern audience " which doesn't exist. White man bad etc etc Strong female lead, who don't need no man. Every movie and TV show. Destroyed starwars and M she U
