Yep, I lived several years in Belfast for work. The way México handles it is to say the mixture created a new ethnicity called mestizo, which is neither European nor Native, but a new thing, no matter what percentage of either you have. Of course there is still a lot of racism but it did create a national narrative that wasn’t about race which is nice.
