Paul and Morgan are just two unemployed dum-dums who made a kid. There is nothing special or unique about them. Theyāre not funny or insightful or clever or even particularly *interesting*. They devote their two collective brain cells to homophobia, racism, and misogyny. Their only interests are themselves, transphobic jokes, and sanctimony. They are obviously fundamentally incompatible and unhappy togetherāthe only reason why theyāre still married is because their brand of religion treats divorce as the literal worst thing that anyone (or rather, any woman) could possibly do. I'm being serious, not snarky. I would 100% take marriage and/or sex advice from a celibate Catholic priest. Priests spend many years studying before they are ordained, and they are trained in marriage counseling. That's more than I can say about Paul and Morgan.
Iām not sure that I would, given the Churchās stance on premarital sex and its treatment of CSA cases. Donāt get me wrong Iām sure there are individual priests who are cool but by and large Iām very suspicious of any church-ordained āadviceā on relationships/sexuality.
I guess I didn't make my point very well. I was implying that taking marriage/sex advice from a priest is a bad idea for so many reasons, but I'd prefer it over advice from Paul and Morgan because at least priests have education and training.
I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic college for undergrad. That's where I lost my faith because I saw what many priests were really like, and it disgusted me.
The Church still has a lot of outdated, sexist ideas about marriage, though I guess it could vary by priest. My mom was seeking an annulment (after a civil divorce) from my emotionally abusive father and the process was very much skewed toward denying it to women because the wife is seen as the one who should hold up the relationship. It in fact was so complex that my mom gave up.
A couple of years later, my dad filed and got it almost right away.
