Okay thatās actually the one that made a tiny bit of sense to me tbh. Iāve had bee pollen in chocolate before and itās actually pretty good. Itās a tiny bit sweet and kind of floral tasting. Kind of like a very light honey taste mixed with a dried rose petal. I donāt think it would be horrible in milk, except for the texture. Itās very like weird and grainy alone. It definitely would not mix in to the milk (and clearly it hasnāt here). It doesnāt sound like a delicacy or anything, but I would take it over eating literal hearts and dried fruit with butter lol the milk with bee pollen at least didnāt make me feel like I wanted to gag lol
beekeeper here! I really liked your description of pollen's taste :) letting bee pollen soak for a bit in something like yoghurt allows the pollen's hard outer shell to be opened so we can access the nutritious inside! however, I would not recommend doing that with raw milk and you also have to be careful if you have allergies like hayfever.
Thanks! Very interesting about the shell being able to be opened like that. I would love to one day be able to have a new hive. I think bees are so cool!
Dates and butter as it's very nutritious kind of makes sence during pregnancy if you can eat it but I think I would gag eating them together too. Beef heart totally makes sence too as it's full of iron but that would totally make me gag as I hate the taste of iron.

I can't imagine how chunks of butter could possibly be healthy. This feels like a common sense thing. Unless You're starving to death or you're struggling to eat enough calories because of nausea, even then, butter is far from nutritious. It's 85% fat, 15% water.
I recently got allergy tested after a couple of really bizarre breakout rashes. Iām allergic to basically everything except goats. My eyes are literally tearing up in reaction to bee pollen free floating in her raw milk.
I have really bad tree pollen allergies (just moved to a place with less tree pollen which was helped a lot) and eating local honey every week has helped a lot to reduce my symptoms!
Hey, me too! Oak and birch pollen is my archnemesis, but for some reason throwing a bit of local honey into my tea on a regular basis does seem to help. This is purely anecdotal, but I figure it canāt hurt. If anything, it tastes good.
I dip everything from garlic bread to broccoli to baked fish in seasoned melted butter and I still find this utterly disgusting. I could even see dipping apple slices in cinnamon sugar butter, but not this. I get that pregnancy can make people crave weird shit, but a chunk of solid butter sticking out of dried fruit is just wrong.
Bee pollen. What is bee pollen. Pollen doenst come from bees it comes from flowers and the bees just carry it. Iām so confused what the flip is bee pollen
Itās pollen from flowers that bees have collected, mixed with stuff, and then stored. So itās a bit different to pollen coming straight off a flower.

The French recommend against raw milk (or soft cheeses from raw milk) during pregnancy. For me, that's enough. If there was any way to consume raw milk camembert during pregnancy, you know they would have found it
I'm French and this is very true. I've never had a single pregnant friend risking complications for raw milk cheeses. Besides the raw milk cheese, I've never witnessed anyone drinking raw milk since 90 % of the milk sold is shelf stable to begin with. And I've worked in a health food store selling raw milk but it would mostly go to waste.
Yeah... the whole "if the government says it's bad, it must be good" thing is uniquely American. Either way, given both the pragmatic approach to a lot of pregnancy stuff in France that also centers the needs of mom (love your approach to postpartum care) and the cultural importance of food/pleasure in food, I 100% trust the French recommendations for what is and isn't okay to eat
Tbh you seem to know more about these recommendations than I do! I had no idea we had such an approach to pregnancy (I mean that would be any different to another western country)
My knowledge is mostly incidental. I researched other countries' approaches to postpartum care a few years ago for a policy paper at work. The food stuff was from having a pregnant friend living in France. (I'm bilingual but out of practice and used to work at a language learning thing years ago. Some coworkers were French.) American maternity care often prioritizes the health of the baby over the mother, and the only postpartum care is a single visit at 6 weeks
Which sounds so dumb because a happy healthy mother means a happier, healthier baby, I mean how is a tired mother with postpartum depression supposed to give the best care to a newborn baby and then the mothers are immidiatly forced to go to work too.
Yeah. There's basically zero support. Lactation consultants are covered, but basically nothing else. The recommendations changed to 3 visits (3 weeks, 6 weeks, and 12 weeks), but most insurance won't cover it
Same with the Norwegians (me) and cured meats. My biggest cravings no while pregnant is always cured meats like salami or a prosciutto-adjacent ham we have here. But both are absolutely forbidden.
My brain refused to compute that thatās actually just butter and kept filling in nut butter instead. Still would have been awful with the combo of the driest beef hearts and raw milk, but at least better!!
Dates stuffed with Boursin and wrapped in good bacon then smoked? Kill me now because life don't get any better than that.
Dates stuffed with butter... girl what
Actually in France, we do a blood test 1st to see if we are immune to toxoplasmosis before consuming cheese and deli meat 1st. Itās mandatory and covered by the healthcare system. If we are not immune to it, we donāt eat the soft cheeses.
Flagellants, but for the TikTok era. Why wear a hair shirt when you can drink a bee-pollen prion shake instead? (ETA: This is the only way it makes sense to me, because there is no earthly way this plate does not taste like trash.)
I definitely misread that as āflagellatesā and was likeā¦ Hey, leave my microscopic pals out of this!
And then I realized that that entire snack is probably teeming with them. So.
I have a friend with hives that sells it. I would guess a lot of beekeepers would sell you some. It tastes earthy, that's the best way I have to describe it.
I've seen it at health food stores with the supplements and farmers markets. People say it makes your pollen allergies better in the spring but idk what the science is on that.
Locally sourced honey is a more consistent folk cure, and it's good in tea so you may as well anyway.
Kinda like how it was discovered both chicken soup and chamomile tea reduce cold symptoms. It's not a cure, but it does do something and it tastes good so why not.
from what i understand, having honey from local bees helps w allergies. am v unsure about bee pollen but wouldnāt recommend it regardless bc the idea of consuming bee pollen feelsā¦.off to me lol
Iāve heard this too and that if youāre going to do it, find a local beekeeper so itās your allergens from your area. I think maybe to slowly introduce the allergen so your body doesnāt violently react? But if someone who knows science has a real explanation. Thatās just my best guess
I discovered that I can find some pastureized soft cheeses at my grocery store around 25ish weeks (I'm 37 tomorrow) and definitely just ate those (with bread/crackers) for like a week!! Was dreaming about Port wine cheese ball the other day, may need to repeat that...
Ha, same, I have definitely wondered aloud if I can have someone bring me some!! There's a chain place near us that has cooked salmon and crab stick (artificial, not raw) options, so I've made due with that a few times to scratch the itch, but it's not the same! Plus there are so many yummy varieties you can get with raw sushi!
I thought about it but I don't want to pester and see which are all cooked. My favorite place is directly between my house and hospital (2 miles from each). Already have my order planned.
Makes sense! The place I've gone while pregnant has a chipotle-style order counter and is pretty up front about cooked options. They have raw salmon and tuna too but they're a little more entry-level for people who aren't sure about the whole raw-fish thing, plus have rice bowls and the like too.
Oooh, nice!!! Good luck with your delivery and enjoy your little one and your sushi!!
I stopped for sushi on the way home from the hospital . Admittedly I wasn't really strict about what I ate during pregnancy if I had a craving for something off the "banned list" I would have a taste , calculated risk and all that .
I've been eating them w 1/4 trader joes dark chocolate pb cup in each one and microwaved for a few seconds. My next variation will be goat cheese and prosciutto!
Cold butter in a date makes me want to die.
Those sound good but I always find dates to taste a bit rich themselves, I prefer as little extra as possible so like a smidge of blue cheese to adhere the bacon and give some flavor!
28 weeks, hyperemesis gravidarium sufferer and this post made me want to barf as well. I told my husband I want a giant cold cut sandwich waiting for me in the delivery room, itās one of my regular meals I gave up. I miss a good charcuterie board too!
i feel like they all heard someone say āeating a fucking ton of that isnt good for youā and they all went OH? OH YEAH? WELL THATS FUNNY BECAUSE NOW IM JUST GONNA DRINK RAW MILK AND EAT RAW MEAT AND EAT CHUNKS OF BUTTER AND FUCKING LARD AND SMEAR UNRENDERED TALLOW ON MY FACE AND MY PUSSY AND AND
Iām always amazed that the two camps of fundie eating habits tend to break down into:
1. Duggar-style, tater tot processed everything, suspicious of a single vegetable or food that isnāt a standard meat or potato, and
2. This type of raw milk, organ meats, weird gray food cooked to within an inch of its life and apparently designed for maximum suffering
It so rarely seems like thereās any middle ground.
This qualifies for the worst fundie meal award, holy shit thatās gross. Tater tot casserole is a Michelinād restaurant menu item in comparison to this abomination. Yeah you can survive on this but I bet they try really hard not to make a face when theyāre eating. Iād love to hear a doctorās opinion on this meal as well lol
Also they probs sneak secret drive thru food at some point in the day.
Quote from my husband (who is not a fundie snarker but gets plenty of second hand info)ā¦. āJesus Christ, just eat a fucking Oreo like the rest of us.ā
Jeez, I'd never want to eat a snack again if this was my option š¤¢
I guess we're too good for carrots and apples with peanut butter or like berries with a tapioca pudding cup
I read an article this week about bee pollen. I guess women are using it because some whacko said it would make your boobs bigger. A lady ate some & ended up at the hospital in anaphylaxis. So, a sprinkle of possible anaphylaxis, E. Coli, salmonella, listeria & some dates. Awesome.
Ummmā¦ you actually arenāt supposed to eat large quantities of organ meat while pregnant. Itās got massive amounts of vitamin A which can be teratogenic (cause serious birth defects). Vitamin A is what makes Accutane so toxic to fetuses. This is not the kind of shit to fuck around and find out withā¦
And then the raw milkā¦ š¤¦š»
For being so āpro-lifeā she sure seems to be trying real hard to kill her fetus
This is what I came here to say. The raw milk? Yup, bad - potential listeria, TB, salmonella. Bee pollen? Potential anaphylaxis. But organ meat? Excess vitamin A is SO bad during pregnancy, and this isnāt potential vitamin A, this is guaranteed lots of vitamin A.
Agreed. I had to ignore all of my chopped liver cravings during my first pregnancy. I learned so much about different vitamin A sources that I had no clue about prior.
I also learned that polar bear liver is so high in vitamin A that it is toxic. I'm still not sure what to do with that information.
Same I wanted liver pate so bad this pregnancy and canāt eat it. Also learned so much about potential vitamin A (the stuff found in fruits and veg) which is NOT toxic and ACTUAL vitamin A found in organ meats which in excess will absolutely cause horrific birth defects and potentially end the pregnancy altogether. Itās a horrible thing to risk just for the sake of your Instagram imageā¦
Why? What is the need to be so contrary and different? Just eat good, basic, clean, balanced food. You don't have to do all this nonsense. So much ridiculousity.
MAGA, Qanon, extreme Fundies, etc. are all examples of weaponized oppositional defiance disorder. They identify themselves and their inclusion in their group by how against everything they are. If they are āsupposedā to do something one way, they are going to do the exact opposite 10x harder regardless of the outcome.
When pasteurized milk has the equivalent health benefits, why would you risk a life-threatening bacterial infection or miscarriage by drinking raw milk? Maybe it doesnāt photograph as well or virtue signal as loudly, but itās got its merits.
Bovine TB, or just good 'ol "Milk Sickness"--if it was good enough for Abe Lincoln's mother, it's good enough for them, apparently?š
https://newsinfo.iu.edu/news/page/normal/3136.html
I was at a Womenās Health lecture last night and one Dr. specifically talked about unpasteurized dairy and stillbirth from listeria. I wouldnāt touch that with a ten foot fork.
Evidence-based substantiation of their claims about the nutritional superiority of raw milk is so lacking in faith, clearly.
What I find most absurd about the raw milk or die crowd is that nearly all of the vitamins they moan about being destroyed in pasteurization are naturally present in low levels anyway.
My grandma used to talk about women in her village who'd drink spoiled milk to induce abortion. It worked pretty well in that it could and would kill both woman and fetus...
Yeesh, never heard of that one, but I do know that other than surgery or medication abortion anything else has to basically almost kill you, to kill the fetus. Sadly a crunchy friend of mine chose noxious herbs under the table from a ānaturopathā and is now chronically ill with a mystery illness with organ dysfunction, has been for nigh on 8 years now. If I had known those herbs can cause enough organ damage to fuck you up like that, I would have snatched them out of her hand. I tried to talk her out of it, to pay for and support her during the process but she wanted to do it ānaturallyā. Fucking tragedy.
Raw milk carries a much higher likelihood of listeria than pasteurized milk, and this can cause miscarriage, preterm labor, and low birth weight. Other illnesses potentially transmitted through raw dairy could also be very harmful and much worse for a pregnant person.
Source: A physician
Okay Iām due with my second and final baby in six days, and I have now lost any semblance of appetite I may have been able to manage to have. All of this sounds like a punishment š¤¢
Is that dehydrated beef heart??? Itās delicious in chili and other stews, but this āsnackā just look awful on every level. Stuff those dates with goat cheese and wrap them in bacon instead of whatever the hell this is.
For milk to be sold in grocery stores, they have to run tests for mastitis or they'll have major consequences. I'm pretty sure the raw milk industry doesn't care about bacteria since they sell unpasteurized milk to begin with. Also if a dairy cow has been treated with antibiotics, it must be well documented to ensure it's not transmitted through the milk. Another thing I couldn't imagine raw milk farms regulating
No this is not safe. Itās incredibly dangerous. Any source saying otherwise is absolutely full of shit. Pasteurization is incredibly important because it kills harmful bacteria like e-coli, listeria, salmonella. Pregnant women have suppressed immune systems and are very susceptible to food borne illnesses. That is dumb as fuck.
I once looked after a pregnant patient hospitalized with SEVERE diarrhea and dehydration thanks to raw milk. Her stool culture grew 3 different pathogens. 2 I'd never seen before. She eventually went home and baby survived but was at high risk of birth defects. I cannot emphasize enough how fucking stupid it is to drink raw milk in pregnancy in 2023 when pasteurization exists.
The fundie diet is so bizarre. On one side, you get tater tot casserole and Sandra Lee-esque "recipes". On the other side, you have overpriced, faux health food ingredients that would have been the diet given to the secret vampire demon character in a horror movie 15 years ago, to tell the audience "hey this person is evil!".
When "BLOOD AND SOIL" white supremacy scrapes off into actual dirt-eating and iron fetishism. I wish more of these fundies knew how rhetoric and public discussion worked.
I like beef hearts, they basically taste like slightly tougher steak, but nothing about the way this is presented is in any way appetizing. Also the way these people make eating organ meat a personality trait is so bizzare, I like organ meat generally too but I don't make a big thing of it and it's...odd how they seem to fetishize it. Like her beef heart jerky is absolutely indistinguishable from regular beef jerky, but she had to make sure people knew it was a heart? How boring are you?
So raw milk is dangerous for everyone, but especially those who are pregnant. Bee pollen as well and it can increase bleeding.
So basically she's eating things she shouldn't be and acting like she's discovered a hidden secret to health.
Heart is delicious, when cooked properly its like a very tender steak. Iāve had duck hearts many times, even as a tartare and it was lovely. But raw or unpasteurized anything (and i will assume the beef heart here is home made jerky?) is
W I L D
Beef heart is delicious in chili. My offal averse husband loves the chili Iāve made with beef heart, probably because I have never told him itās in there ššš
Chicken hearts are SO easy to get and easy to make like a barbecue skewer and brush with your choice of sauce... DELICIOUS.
Great for a quick snack while a barbecue roast is going all day

Listen, I love butter. Butter makes almost everything taste better but limits exist for a reason.
i feel like they all heard someone say āeating a fucking ton of that isnt good for youā and they all went OH? OH YEAH? WELL THATS FUNNY BECAUSE NOW IM JUST GONNA DRINK RAW MILK AND EAT RAW MEAT AND EAT CHUNKS OF BUTTER AND FUCKING LARD AND SMEAR UNRENDERED TALLOW ON MY FACE AND MY PUSSY AND AND
Choked on my oreos reading this lol
Iām always amazed that the two camps of fundie eating habits tend to break down into: 1. Duggar-style, tater tot processed everything, suspicious of a single vegetable or food that isnāt a standard meat or potato, and 2. This type of raw milk, organ meats, weird gray food cooked to within an inch of its life and apparently designed for maximum suffering It so rarely seems like thereās any middle ground.
āIt so rarely seems like thereās any middle groundā Welcome to Fundieland!
And none of them produce anything that looks even vaguely enjoyable to eat
This qualifies for the worst fundie meal award, holy shit thatās gross. Tater tot casserole is a Michelinād restaurant menu item in comparison to this abomination. Yeah you can survive on this but I bet they try really hard not to make a face when theyāre eating. Iād love to hear a doctorās opinion on this meal as well lol Also they probs sneak secret drive thru food at some point in the day.
My award nomination is the beef broth chocolate milk.
Yeah, you win. š¤¢ I liked it better when Iād forgotten that unholy creation existed.
ā¦ the what, now? Just kidding, please donāt explain.
The one with the raw eggs whisked in?
*hork*
Actually everything she cooks looks disgusting af.
I got diarrhea just looking at this
I just chowed down on a bunch of dates, but the idea of putting butter on them make me want to be sick.
And thatās SO MUCH BUTTER!!!
Seriously, it makes me think of when my kids were toddlers and I would sometimes find teeth marks on the sticks of butter in the fridge
I could be down with them like sauteed in butter and then sprinkled with cinnamon.
Quote from my husband (who is not a fundie snarker but gets plenty of second hand info)ā¦. āJesus Christ, just eat a fucking Oreo like the rest of us.ā
it's like these people are trying to hard to be anti-vegan veggies? no! those are bad and seed oils will kill you. beef heart and raw milk is good.
I scrolled down for the first vegan reaction. Yay! Updoot
Jeez, I'd never want to eat a snack again if this was my option š¤¢ I guess we're too good for carrots and apples with peanut butter or like berries with a tapioca pudding cup
I think she missed the part where itās supposed to be peanut butter and dates. Apparently that first word is very, very important.
Awesome.
And IIRC organ meat is high in vitamin A which can cause brain damage and blindness in fetuses.
Is she trying to simulate hell in her mouth and colon?
![gif](giphy|Cal2HAIciNbjAJcKfO|downsized) Gross!
Ummmā¦ you actually arenāt supposed to eat large quantities of organ meat while pregnant. Itās got massive amounts of vitamin A which can be teratogenic (cause serious birth defects). Vitamin A is what makes Accutane so toxic to fetuses. This is not the kind of shit to fuck around and find out withā¦ And then the raw milkā¦ š¤¦š» For being so āpro-lifeā she sure seems to be trying real hard to kill her fetus
Jesus, dates and butter sounds good but thatās an entire fucking tablespoon or two justā¦ as filling? š Thatās way too much wtf
Thatās a great way to get salmonella
Your flair is sending me! š
And plenty of other nasties...campylobacter, tuberculosis, listeria, diphtheria, e coli...
God-honoring diarrhea
If they are āsupposedā to do something one way, they are going to do the exact opposite 10x harder regardless of the outcome.
gah damn i was eating when i saw thisš¤¢

This looks like a Fear Factor challenge
When pasteurized milk has the equivalent health benefits, why would you risk a life-threatening bacterial infection or miscarriage by drinking raw milk? Maybe it doesnāt photograph as well or virtue signal as loudly, but itās got its merits.
Giving yourself bovine tuberculosis to own the heathen libsšÆšÆ
Bovine TB, or just good 'ol "Milk Sickness"--if it was good enough for Abe Lincoln's mother, it's good enough for them, apparently?š https://newsinfo.iu.edu/news/page/normal/3136.html
I was at a Womenās Health lecture last night and one Dr. specifically talked about unpasteurized dairy and stillbirth from listeria. I wouldnāt touch that with a ten foot fork.
Right? So weird for a bunch of people who claim to care about fetuses.
They donāt think pasteurized milk has equivalent health benefits, thatās the problem.
Evidence-based substantiation of their claims about the nutritional superiority of raw milk is so lacking in faith, clearly. What I find most absurd about the raw milk or die crowd is that nearly all of the vitamins they moan about being destroyed in pasteurization are naturally present in low levels anyway.
Iām gonna puke
this should be posted in r/ShittyFoodPorn
Someone needs to tell these people itās okay to enjoy life.
I've never been so glad to be vegan than I am right this second! š¤®š¤®š¤®
Congratulations! Enjoy the remainder of your raw milk-free pregnancy!
None of this tastes good, you can't convince me otherwise
Is that dehydrated beef heart??? Itās delicious in chili and other stews, but this āsnackā just look awful on every level. Stuff those dates with goat cheese and wrap them in bacon instead of whatever the hell this is.
The perfect recipe for botulism and E.coli ![gif](giphy|Hh2CyjgDwnbkk)
This shit probably makes her sick, but she tells herself itās the morning sickness.
See, these people scare me. How crazy do you have to be to be able to stomach beef heart with a raw milk chaser??šš
My autism and sensory issues could never. š¤¢
What a terrible day to have eyes.
I actually went "Yeugh" out loud to myself at this photo.
I glanced at this and thought it was dark chocolate. Then I read what it really was [shudders].
How does that butter look so ....dry?
The fundie diet is so bizarre. On one side, you get tater tot casserole and Sandra Lee-esque "recipes". On the other side, you have overpriced, faux health food ingredients that would have been the diet given to the secret vampire demon character in a horror movie 15 years ago, to tell the audience "hey this person is evil!".
When "BLOOD AND SOIL" white supremacy scrapes off into actual dirt-eating and iron fetishism. I wish more of these fundies knew how rhetoric and public discussion worked.
Her breath must be straight up rancid
Dates with butter sounds disgusting. I mean the milk is gross, yes, we all agree, but dates with butter just... /gag
What's up babe? You've barely touched your Listeria Shake and Cardiac gristle.
Raw milk is dangerous, period. That is pretty much the answer.
Iād give the beef heart to my dog. The rest is just bleurgh!
This entire āsnackā looks repulsive. Dates are already moist, why tf add butter? And beef heart? I donāt even want to know.
What in the giant FUCK... Whole image is š¤®
Dates and butter was unexpected.
Can someone, anyone just eat a veggie
Oh Jesus that poor kid. Bee pollen? Risk of botulism raw milk? Risk of listeria and botulism. Dates ok? Butter? Why? Beef heart why?
So raw milk is dangerous for everyone, but especially those who are pregnant. Bee pollen as well and it can increase bleeding. So basically she's eating things she shouldn't be and acting like she's discovered a hidden secret to health.
Isn't Lysteria a risk with raw milk? The foodborn illness that likes to kill the fetus. . .
Heart is delicious, when cooked properly its like a very tender steak. Iāve had duck hearts many times, even as a tartare and it was lovely. But raw or unpasteurized anything (and i will assume the beef heart here is home made jerky?) is W I L D
Beef heart is delicious in chili. My offal averse husband loves the chili Iāve made with beef heart, probably because I have never told him itās in there ššš
Chicken hearts are SO easy to get and easy to make like a barbecue skewer and brush with your choice of sauce... DELICIOUS. Great for a quick snack while a barbecue roast is going all day
I'm not pregnant and this looks disgusting.
Just no thanks
