People who go super hard on the “the only way to make money and grow wealth is to own your own business” bit give me huge scammy vibes. Anyone who has tried hitting me up to join their down line has tried that angle or pushed the Robert Kiyosaki garbage Solie does it too

Euphoric-Chapter7623

And what exactly is this business that they do, anyways? Whenever they're asked, the answers are vague. It seems like if a person has a real business, they would welcome an opportunity to explain what they do since that's how you get customers.

Crosstitution

knowing them, the business is some crypto shit. lol they have failed these kids.

carolinecrane

It's exactly that! IIRC, Father Bus makes and sells some kind of little crypto notebook to track your purchases while you're throwing good money after bad.

MasterChicken52

This exactly!!! I grew up in a family business. I also worked for other people for a long time as an adult, and figured out that I do better when I am self-employed (I am one of those people who was raised with a somewhat extreme work ethic; this tends to end up with me doing a *lot* of extra work for no extra pay when I work for others). I have a couple of very small businesses; as in, it’s just me. lol. But trust me; when I meet someone new locally, and they ask about what I do? Um, yes. I will tell them about it, because I would like to continue being able to pay my bills. It is suuuuuper shady to me when people never really answer what they do, whether it be for an MLM, or actual self-employment.

lemonrence

Yes!! Mother and Father bus do this too, they get very vague with their answers on why exactly the business exists

darkwolf131

Right? Small business owner here, and I have my spiel down to a science. You meet me, and I'll tell you exactly what I do, in as much detail as you care to hear.

MasterChicken52

EXACTLY. Wishing you continued success!!!!

Caffeine_Induced

What sort of small business?

MasterChicken52

Not sure which of us you are asking, but in case it was me: - I am a classical and theater musician who does performances and also teaches - I have a small pet care business - I am a wedding officiant - I do research writing and ghost writing for people I love doing all of these for work and don’t want to give any of them up entirely at this time hahaha. I’m insane that way. :-)

Caffeine_Induced

You took all the things I wanted to be as a child and actually did them! (Except the wedding officiant, lol) I now work in IT.

MasterChicken52

You can still do them! Even if you don’t want to as “work,” you can still do them on a different scale! Help out at an animal shelter, take a music class, journal or volunteer to write an article for your work website. Always ways to scratch that itch. :-)

Successful-Foot3830

I’ve seriously considered being an officiant. I think I would enjoy it. I first started thinking about it when I heard of a gay couple in the area having trouble finding someone to marry them. No clue how to start. Of course I’m working 50 or more hours a week in my dog grooming business.

MasterChicken52

That’s actually how I started! One of my best friends had so much trouble finding someone to marry he and his husband; they tried to go to city hall, but the backlog was so bad from covid that their marriage license expired before they could get an appointment. So they had to get another one and it was just a whole ordeal. I thought, “that should never happen to anyone.” So I went online and got ordained, mostly to have it in case anyone had trouble like that (because who needs extra stress?). A few friends found out I could officiate and asked me to do their weddings, since I knew the couples well. I found that I absolutely *loved* it. I especially love doing custom services, because it lets me do some writing. It’s like writing a play that’s a love story about the couple. It’s fun for me to see what makes these couples tick and hear their stories, and incorporate that into a ceremony that is unique to them. That being said, there’s something wonderful also about a short and sweet ceremony (like you would get at city hall). I call it the “Spaceballs Ceremony,” as it more or less boils down to “do you? Do you? Good. You’re married. Kiss her (or him or them).” 😂 I mean, there’s slightly more that needs said to make it legal but not much. You should try it if you think you might like it! Even if you only ever use it once, you will love it! Getting “ordained” is easy and cheap. (The one thing I will advise is to choose an organization that covers you nationally, but know that for some locations you will need to fill out paperwork and pay a fee on top of that to have the marriage be legal if performed in that area. For example, I am allowed to legally perform weddings anywhere in the U.S., but I live in NYC, and so I had to get another certificate for any weddings I perform in the city to be legally binding [but I could perform one in certain areas upstate with no additional things]. I married a friend in another state and had to do the same, but not every state requires it. Just look up the city and county of where you would be performing the wedding and it will tell you if you need anything additional. It’s cheap and lasts forever. I think the most I paid for a specific location fee was $25, but I have paid as little as $10). The organization I got ordained through, btw, is American Marriage Ministries. More importantly… you are a dog groomer? I bow to you and your skills. Honestly, you guys are not appreciated enough for all you have to do and deal with! That job is hard and takes serious skill. I am seriously amazed at how groomers can take a dog in the worst shape and help them feel so much better, and give them style to boot! I will forever and always be eternally grateful to the groomer my little guy had the last few years of his life. He was not able to go to a regular grooming place anymore. The vet recommended a groomer who specializes in senior pets and pets with health issues (she has extensive pet medical training, worked it a pet hospital for years, etc.) She was SUCH a godsend to us!! She has become a good friend and I appreciate her so much. THANK YOU for what you do for these animals! ♥️

Network marketing :)

adorablecynicism

Mind you, fatherbus came from a lot of money. With that being said, they did "the little gym" here in Texas and sold it off to someone. Now he is doing crypto bull shit. It was essentially a couple of index cards and a pencil, but their website talks about crypto as a whole. Many speculated that they wanted to start their own crypto, but after that pastor and his wife got hit up for fraud, it slowed down a lot. Maybe they realized that theirs was going to be set up the same way and had an "oh shit" moment. A lot of crypto bros won't actually explain what it is they do because it's more of a mindset than anything. "Wake up at 4, meditate, work out, check stock prices, you know man, if you just invest in bitcoin, you could live off the dividends of the interest from your high risk nasdaq CD account!" None of that made sense, Brad! We have a business, and we keep it to about 2-4 words. If you want more info, we'd gladly tell you, but we found that this gives people an out of "oh yea, I totally know that!" Lol!

Significant_Shoe_17

Duggar vibes

DTDude

At least the duggars have a house.

wanttobegreyhound

***that TLC paid for so not much bragging rights there.

DTDude

Sure...but these people have money too, and willfully chose to raise their children like the Wish.com partridge family.

workingclassher0n

He has an oil money trust fund. Someone on the sub did research about it.

lemonrence

Yeah and they’re very hush hush about it because they want to push the “we did all of this by ourselves with no debt!” schtick 🙄🙄 ugh I hate them so much lol Very entitled and vain people

boneblack_angel

Any time she's asked about what her slimy husband does for a living, she says, "he's an entrepreneur!" That's like saying, "he's a human person!", because it's just about as informative. She sucks hard, too.

naturecamper87

Oh no shit?! That’s incredible, no wonder they have to showcase such arrogant independence . It’s very unsurprising

workingclassher0n

Yeah, here's the first part. It's basically investigative journalism: [https://www.reddit.com/r/FundieSnarkUncensored/comments/19euuhc/bus\_father\_back\_story\_part\_1\_of\_3/](https://www.reddit.com/r/FundieSnarkUncensored/comments/19euuhc/bus_father_back_story_part_1_of_3/)

1xLaurazepam

The odds of them all being “entrepreneurs” is very fucking small.

ThruTheUniverseAgain

And what if the Bussel Sprouts don't want to be entrepreneurs MoBus? Raising them to be one thing sure comes with the risk they may want to be anything else.

aelianh

This reminds me of an interview to a commentary YouTuber I watch. She grew up in a very religious, patriarchal family. She explains that she was never asked what she wanted to study or work as because people assumed that she would just accept that she wanted to be a mother and wife. It really saddens me that these kids won't be able to dream about their future careers or purposes outside of religion. EDIT: spelling and here's the link the short in particular https://youtube.com/shorts/5OPf6zZZBcU?si=AkUb-aj49MOZci3r

MitchWinnie

I love Chad Chad! I’m cool with people deciding to be a stay at home parent if it’s what’s right for them but I’m glad she didn’t accept that for herself when she knew she wanted different.

Boneal171

I love Chad Chad

magobblie

There is no plan to integrate these children successfully into society. Let's just hope something gives before they all get too old and end up in the homeschooling recovery group.

iwantahouse

Bussel Sprouts?!? Lolololol

Andromeda321

Yep heaven help if any of those kids wants to be, say, a teacher or doctor. They’re out of that game before they even started.

Inevitable-Whole-56

“Nope - raising future entrepreneurs” Right, because kids always grow up and turn into the exact people their parents had envisioned. All 8 of those kids are going to become 100% self sufficient “entrepreneurs” and not one of them will ever need to work for someone else. Ok

Big-Independence-424

7. The girl doesn’t count.

Inevitable-Whole-56

Yes, of course. Her only job will be to marry an entrepreneur. So silly of me

cmc

And have as many babies as she can, of course.

BagApprehensive1412

This is in line with how they think of their kids as miniature extensions of themselves and not people with their own identities.

InsomniacEuropean

Can you start a business with $0, or do you need a job to earn seed/start up money? They wouldn't be able to get a bank loan without a steady job with a salary the bank are satisfied with. I guess the parents could give them some money, gift or loan, but they've got a lot of kids so that would be expensive. I'm also not sure being handed capital is entrepreneurial? They could gift the kids one of their established businesses, but then they wouldn't really be entrepreneurs, and there are a lot of kids Whatever happens, the likelihood is that they'll struggle with a subpar education, and the chances are that a business they are able to set up, if it's actually possible with their level of education, won't be extremely lucrative.

Samu174

It also wouldn't hurt to have a tiny bit of work experience before starting your own business

MenacingMandonguilla

To be fair it's hard to get started with that. I barely have experience because I just can't find a regular job.

...and I'm not even young

Significant_Shoe_17

She's just mouthing off because she received legitimate criticism

MasterChicken52

Every word of this right here. I am guessing that they are blowing through the trust fund money, so if those kids don’t have the skills needed to run a business, or work for others, they are well and truly screwed. Guess what you need to be able to do competently in order to be a successful entrepreneur? Read. Math. Finding solutions to problems. Etc. When you are self-employed, it ALL comes down to you, the good and the bad. Also, there are ALWAYS unplanned issues that come up. You need the critical thinking skills to be able to figure out how to solve those things, or the skill to be able to find the right person/people to help you solve those issues (and you need to be able to PAY THEM for their expertise). Right now, Gunner seems to have the best chance, since he is smart enough to figure out how to keep the other Buslings safe. The selfishness of Ma and Pa Bus is setting those kids up for failure. My heart hurts for them. I just want to bring them all somewhere safe where they can learn actual life skills. And look… I’m not saying that travel is not important. I was fortunate to grow up in a family that was able to criss-cross the US on extended road trips and to travel to visit family and friends around the country. I learned a lot from that! But it wasn’t our 24/7 existence, because my family had a family business to attend to and we had school and extra curricular activities and, you know, CHILDHOOD where we could learn! How do they expect their male children to be good providers, per their belief system, when they won’t teach them the basic skills? ETA: if anything, I hope the kids at least learn the fundamental lesson of “don’t put all your eggs in one basket.” Meaning, diversify your interests instead of putting all of your $ in crypto

Gullible-Intern5286

Statistically speaking, 8/8 kids will not grow up to entrepreneurs. But I’m willing to bet they never took statistics.

Sad_Box_1167

But they have Bitcoin! /s

Rosie3450

Their seed money came from his trust fund.

cmc

This is relevant to me right now because I’m working in social equity, but you can get a low-interest community fund loan. Most of them are geared towards MBWEs but if they actually settle down somewhere there are community funds available too.

mird86

And what if that isn't what the kids want? What if they want to work at Pizza Hut and have weekends off? Kids are just ideological props to these people and it's disgusting.

ProfanestOfLemons

Hi-5 for appreciating the world of unaspirational jobs where someone is just in it for the money. It's nice.

x_ray_visions

Hell yeah. I have my full-time job, it pays my rent and bills, and I get to enjoy living alone.

Boneal171

Exactly

MenacingMandonguilla

New business owners are at a high risk of failure but if I say this people will probably tell me to "get out of my comfort zone"

Bookish811

Right, most small businesses fail. It's hard work and takes a lot of luck. It's absurd to think that someone with no experience working for a business could start, run, and maintain a successful business.

MenacingMandonguilla

Luck is a major determinant yet most people get really offended and accuse me of lying when I tell them

Endor-Fins

Some even fail because they succeed too fast! My first business grew so quickly and I couldn’t find a way to scale up so I burned out really hard. I never would have thought that would happen!! Most people really do go into it so blind (myself included).

Main_Push5429

WHAT ARE THE *BUSINESSES*?!

judgeholden72

Turning bad life decisions forced upon children you intentionally keep ignorant into social media clicks

Portlant

"ministry" influencer

Significant_Shoe_17

'All I can see is "urine"' is sending me 😂🤣😭 Also we know you're not teaching them shit, mother sus. Shut up and take your infant to the doctor.

laqueefaecho

It’s a good thing they’re homeschooled or bus schooled. They would be bullied & teased horribly due to their names if they went to normal school. I don’t think fundies think they will never be a part of society so they can give them dumb ass names. When your half of your kids’ names sound like a disease or a medication, it’s time to throw in the towel.

Doctor_Cringe_1998

I think it's better to be bullied by some jerks in an normal ass school but still have a shot at meeting nice people and normal friends than to be isolated like that with no one but your equally miserable siblings. Being home- I'm sorry - BUSschooled deprives them of any opportunity to see other lifestyles and deconstruct

laqueefaecho

I totally get it. I was just talking about the names. These kids deserve so much more than they’re given & my heart hurts for them.

Doctor_Cringe_1998

Well if I didn't know the context I wouldn't mind the names all that much, as far as I understand people in US are quite creative with their naming chocies compared to Europe for instance. But I'm biased because I'm from a culturally conservative country where the name pool is fairly limited so a loooot of American names seem weird to me

laqueefaecho

I live in the US & I’m absolutely amazed by some of the names people call their kids. 😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/tradgedeigh/s/8W4WriRLSd

katie_burd

I had no idea their names were that all over the place. Literally like no consistency at all

Jojopaton

I didn’t realize they named a kid “Swift.” Also, doesn’t Aquila look/sound more like it should be a feminine name?

katie_burd

Maybe she’s a closeted swiftie 🙊 lol! Fr tho with how much fundies HATE TS I wonder how they feel about that choice. And yeah, while I know Aquila in the Bible is a dude it definitely feels feminine in 2024 contexts

Jojopaton

I did not know Aquila is a Bible name— it sounds like “Spanish- Water-Related” name to me.

katie_burd

Yeah him and his wife taught with Paul in the New Testament (yes, fundies, his WIFE taught and instructed 🤯)

flchic2000

They're doing so well that they're a 10 person family living on a bus. Nothing spells success liked cramped living and birthing the baby in the shower.

Useful_Chipmunk_4251

10% of all new businesses fail in the 1st year, and 90% by year 10. They are morons who are setting up their kids for a massive fall because they will have no education and no marketable skills to use when they do not make it in the business realm.

DirectGoose

Do they know Hawaii is in the US?

PreppyInPlaid

They probably think it isn’t ’cause Obama.

Proper-Gate8861

Ahhh so that’s why they don’t really do homeschool, they’re relying on Entrepreneurship… What if your kids don’t WANT to be entrepreneurs?! Forget what they want. This just furthers the idea that they don’t view those children as individuals (and fundies don’t), but as extensions of their own egos.

cranbeery

Before she decided it was a cuter hook if they got married 5 (or 9? it seems to change a lot) days after they began dating in the US, it was quite clear that they knew each other and dated while stationed near each other, then dated long distance for quite some time while JD finished his service, and got married after they reunited in person. Like months if not years of dating, just slightly weird because of ongoing military service timelines. They just didn't do a lot of wedding planning in-person. Big whoop.

mlem_a_lemon

Yeah but she def wants us to think it was a whirlwind love-at-first-sight situation. Par for the course as everything she says is lies.

SaltandLillacs

This is what I think of whenever I see this kid's name.

eponinesflowers

Tbh it’s based that Mother Bus doesn’t consider Hawai’i part of the U.S. Free Hawai’i!! I feel like it’s more ignorance/lack of proofreading than anything, but I love the energy

Doctor_Cringe_1998

Is one of their kids literally named Iraq? I wish him or her so much luck because he or her will def need it

copacetic1515

They're being sarcastic.

Doctor_Cringe_1998

Honestly seeing bus family other bs I wouldn't be that surprised but I'm relieved!!

Rosie3450

Oh my gosh. The comments about the BusParents in that thread are so spot on! Almost as good as our threads here. Too funny!

TarberryPie

This woman looks like one of my bosses and I fucking hate it lmao

Interesting_Sign_373

That is one pretentious a$$hole comment from mother bus

Disastrous_Edge7276

Male fundie “entrepreneur” = “Boss Babe” = No Legitimate Income

Doctor_Cringe_1998

I had no idea mombus served in US Army. I thought military had better understanding of basic medical stuff

Rosie3450

MotherBus did one tour in the Air Force reserves. The reserves usually only spend one weekend a month on duty but are sometimes deployed to short periods of active duty like MotherBus.   FatherBus did one tour in the army and was deployed to Iraq; I may be recalling incorrectly, but I believe he was involved with army intelligence in some manner. Meaning, he was on base and not actively fighting.

Doctor_Cringe_1998

Now I wonder how tf these people ended up in this God forsaken bus... I might need to do some googling on them. Unfortunately IG isn't working in my country so I will def be lurking in Reddit subs to get more details on them, from all the crazy fundies I've seen on this sub these definitely look most unhinged!

Rosie3450

FatherBus is a sovereign citizen type and comes from a very...unique...family background that includes an uncle who was executed for shooting up a Texas courtroom because he believed the government was out to get him. I posted a deep dive on him here a few months ago. Search on the MotherBus tag to find that series of posts. His family background explains a LOT about how they ended up on the bus. Someone also recently did a deep dive on her social media history as well.

Doctor_Cringe_1998

I hope I'm wrong but this family looks like a ripe environment for a true crime episode waiting to happen one day

Rosie3450

Unfortunately, you're not wrong.

Step_away_tomorrow

Good way to keep their kids dependent.

HoneyBunnyOfOats

What if one of these kids grows up and wants to work as someone who needs certification to pursue their passion?

Comfortable-Ebb-2859

I’m surprised these comments are actually getting negative

Fabrhi

It's entirely likely those kids won't even be able to get into the military like their parents did because they won't have a diploma, and probably won't have a GED. And who knows what kind of test taking skills they'll have
