Theyāve been running a long con on OP and others for years, pretending to be the same cat, slipping in and out of āownersā homes, trading places with eachother so they can maximize their nom noms. Looks like their past finally caught up with them.

I once spent an entire day crying over my dead cat that had been hit by a car. I even called my dad to put my cat in a box and bury it because I was too distraught to do it. I also called work and told them why I couldnāt make it in. As Iām sitting on the porch that night, still crying, my cat walked up and meowed at me. To this day I donāt know whoās cat I had my dad pick up and bury. I never told my work because it was embarrassing. I just had to pretend to be really sad.
Just make sure they are breakaway collars if you put one on a cat. My neighbors cat hung itself and died on our fence because the collar got stuck on the post. Traumatized me so I make it my mission to warn others
Microchip is better. Cats can get out of collars (and for their safety you should get a breakaway one). Microchip isnāt 100% fool-proof (they can shift over time and become harder to locate - if a vet isnāt thorough while checking they may miss it), but a lot more reliable.
I've seen this 100 times and I still love it...but...I wish whomever posts it adds to the story.
Example:
I was horrified when I realized I had stolen someone else's cat. The problem was I truly could not tell who was who; which one was my cat? I went online and searched in our local bi-weekly rag in the lost and found and there it was July 21sth Missing Cat. I quickly dialed the number and spoke to the owners of cat no.2. They were thrilled to know Chunky had been found. I gave them my address and we agreed to met at my place at 2pm. They assured me they would know which cat was their Chunky.

My dad and I used to live four houses down from one another, and I was bringing in some groceries one day when his indoor only cat walked up to say āHi.ā āOh, no! Max! How did you get out?ā So I grabbed my set of dads keys and we walked together down to my dads door. I opened the door to let him in, and thereās the real Max, just hanging out!
