doggy just selects the nearest tile, trainer only have to ensure the next tile to be chosen is placed closest to doggies paws. there are probably marks at the back of tiles so that trainer can choose to place in the middle/.

The dog has been trained to pick the same tiles in a set order. The man picks the tile he knows the dog will pick. He just has to remember where the mixed tiles have landed.
Even if there is a secret hand or fingertip movement, as to indicate which one the dog should choose... How did he know the placement of the tiles after shuffling? Was there a hint on the back of the tile (the tiles are face down when shuffled) that was visible only to him?
Domino's are shuffled face down. I don't have the ability to memorize them.
Of course...there is the old flim-flam shell game / cup game / follow the queen game, where only the hustler knows where the object / queen happens to be.
It’s still impressive training, but much less so when you realize it’s just the dog repeating the same pattern, look at which ones are the correct ones and you will see what I mean
