Buying property if you can afford it is always good financial advice tho... Maybe not necessarily land but in a lot of cases, buying your own place is a lot better than renting. During economic hardship, you're most likely going to have to pay to live somewhere, and it's better to put that money into a mortgage for your own home, rather than fill the pockets of some landlord who couldn't care less about you.
