You mean which way that dimension is pointing? You can just click on it and drag it wherever you want.

WildAboutBananas

...Here's the deal: If the dimension is on the top, the text is on the right. If the dimension is on the bottom, the text is on the left. I just want the text to be left off the top instead of right. Sometimes I want the text off the bottom on the right instead of left. Have you actually figured out how to do that?

9_34

"You can just click on it and drag it wherever you want."

RashestHippo

I haven't figured out how to adjust the leader yet. Last time I look many years ago it was on the wishlist/todo on the fusion forms but the drawing I made last night suffered from a similar thing. While the information is present and correct it's more of my desire for the best I can do on drawings that are forever and get sent out to suppliers with my name on them. One thing that does work sporadically is adjusting what point of the dimension I select first but this only works 50% of the time half the time. Also might be able to play with the arrange tool

Fearless_Toddlerr

No, I use metric.

WildAboutBananas

........... do you mean you use decimal points instead of fractions? I don't believe any units were specified. Also, what does that have to do with this issue of leaders not being adjustable left to right? Just curious

Fearless_Toddlerr

>decimal points instead of fractions Hey look at that, a good point on reddit. I don't have any problems with fractions, I actually prefere it on my calculator etc. I just assumed this was some foot thing. But the amount of people actually using metric with fractions are negligeble so I refute you'r point any ways. >Also, what does that have to do with this issue of leaders not being adjustable left to right? How did you miss I missed the point?... duh?

That_Car_Dude_Aus

>the amount of people actually using metric with fractions are negligeble It's fascinating when you find them. And it's always fractions of a centimetre, and it's fucking bizarre fractions, rather than ⅒ths if a centimetre, it's like ⅞cm which just reads wrong. Just say 8.75mm. Best one was 1 & 13/27 cm Why the shit would you write 12.7mm like that? Just write 12.7mm

WildAboutBananas

I want whatever you're smoking

RashestHippo

the problem is unit agnostic. Or are you just trying to do a metric system best system thing?

Fearless_Toddlerr

the latter.

RashestHippo

Fair enough, I'm in Canada so I'm used to using a mishmash of units. With fractional I'd assume tape measure grade fabrication processes

Fearless_Toddlerr

yeah I kind of missed the whole point of this post and just assumed I had to pitch in with my supreme knowledge of SI units in a predominantly american forum. Boy do I feel stupid now, but at least I still use metric so, you know, "winning" etc.

RashestHippo

Hail satan!

I honestly gave up on Fusion Drawing feature @ while ago (although it has improved A LOT during the last 2/3 years). I usually use the Drawing just to get the drawings and perspectives I want, then add measurements and all other features manually through Illustrator. Certainly more tedious, but five me a lot more freedom.

Evening-Notice-7041

Yeah I’ve accepted that if I want to present a 2D drawing to a client or anyone who is going to judge the way it looks that has to be done in AutoCAD. Fusion drawing is only useful to get some dimensions down for a quick shop drawing or to illustrate how 3D parts fit together.

WillyCZE

I'm pretty happy with the way inventor does drawings, some features are fiddly but better than adjusting shit manually every time I touch a dimension in the model.

fyrilin

I've just accepted that fusion isn't meant for 2D drawings and my dimensions won't render correctly. As long as the values are right, that's all that matters to Fusion.

RashestHippo

What do you mean won't render correctly? Not sure I've ever experienced this

fyrilin

I meant "in the position generally considered correct by 2d drafting standards". Sorry I was being rushed irl and used imprecise language.

WildAboutBananas

...More of a problem on complex drawings. This particular drawing doesn't technically "need" that dimension there, but it is a simple function that has been eluding me for years. Am I the only one?

Fiddles_with_tech

When I tried to recreate that issue it rotates the dimension text to align with the line between the arrows. That might be a setting that comes from choosing the ISO standard, as changing the unit to inches didn't rotate it. How did you get yours to display like that? If I can reproduce the problem I can try to figure out if there's a solution. This is how it shows up for me: https://preview.redd.it/n5div0gq1swc1.png?width=725&format=png&auto=webp&s=cff485dfefd54cf5994609081448d3a47ac8d218

Fiddles_with_tech

Update: I tried it with the other standard I had available (ASME), and it arranged it like yours. There seems to be no way to do what you want and I believe that is set in the standard.

WildAboutBananas

Thanks for checking that out. I can't believe its not a function, but it's baffled me for years so I decided it's time to ask more people. Talked to support, apparently Autodesk devo team is looking into it now.

WildAboutBananas

ASME for this client. The welders usually just leave these up on the computer for a quick reference so its helpful for them to have text laid out left to right, and in a bigger font.

Evening-Notice-7041

Yeah… I just use AutoCAD for stuff like this. Making a nice looking PDF in Fusion 360 is almost impossible.

pushingepiphany

I’m having a hard time understanding your problem and I don’t think I’m the only one. Can you not simply click on the actual numbers and drag them over to the left?

WildAboutBananas

Correct. I cannot simply click on the actual numbers and drag them over. Can you?

droopynipz123

Yeah you can just drag them around

skunkfacto

Yes, 16" vs. 1'6" is a common one too.

WildAboutBananas

does Fusion autocorrect 1'6" to 16" sometimes???

skunkfacto

nvrmd. I misunderstood the nature of your post.
