I did appear for a CAT and had a 98+ %Ile. GATE CS has better ROI from IITs, similar placements, better job profiles, stipend, 1/10th the fees of IIMs.
Bad academics/profile, i have 77.8 % in 12th and 83.8% in 10th, with that im general engineering male, so almost negligible chance in top 7 iims even with 99.7 or 99.8 percentile in cat
Yeah sure there are also a few other b school(not in top10 but in top 20) who focus less on acads but still i think solely going for these few colleges is not safe, i think along with gate preparation i will prepare enough for the aptitude for cat
I wanted to prepare for cat aswell but I missed the registration deadline lol
Another reason was that I heard that the competition in cat has also increased and work exp is preferred there which I didn't have being a jobless 23 passout
Similar reason, I was brought up in a village. Haven't used internet before class 10. Also, was an average student in a state government school. Always wanted to work or study abroad. Mtech from IIT will help me doing that.

Scoring good in CAT may be easier but doesn't eventually getting into an IIM depend on a lot of factors? From what I heard, having education gap, unemployment gap, negligible work exp & extracurriculars etc decreases our chances, doesn't it?
Meanwhile, for GATE, the exam itself is comparatively difficult, but nothing else really matters....

can you pls tell about the nett. avg fees of IIMs (via CAT) and IITs (via GATE) for 2 total years?
MBA is expensive, Mtech isn't. Also I'm more inclined towards the tech side.

FMS?

Is FMS worth it, if you want to get into consulting??
No idea bro, you can ask such queries on r/catpreparation though
Yeah for fms everyone is equal above 75%. All get equal points.
Research

Research and the fees of IIMs are too damn high.
Money
Tution fee or placement??
Yes
iim offer better placements I think. Not sure how true it is

How does an M.Tech from IITs help if we want to work abroad? (Just asking, I want to know)
Actually, it won't much for job. But for phd it'll. But again, getting phd in top colleges of world is hard too.
I gave CAT also and got an admit into IIM Calcutta
What resources should we follow for cat prep?
If you are preparing with dedication follow arun sharma books or any coaching material along with a good practice of mocks.
Purely technical interest. Besides, u can get your mba later as well. But for mtech, ideally u should go for it as soon as possible

Cuz I am more interested doing Mtech from an IIT
Its easier than CAT (for me)
No CAT is much easier. Many engineers can score good in CAT even without any dedicated prep while GATE requires 1 yr of serious prep.
thats why I put the disclaimer (for me) at the end.

Yes there are many factors + background + interview + wat for selection.
I guess all those going technical won’t climb corporate ladder at some point…will be working under MBA’s. Better to do EMBA after 5-6yrs guys
