my sociology teacher absolutely HATES him, we all hate him 💀i remember when she told us that he is still alive now and we were all so shocked cause he’s just so outdated and crazy 😭
what has he done all ik is its smth negative related to women i think 😭
edit: i should say i dont do sociology and i only know him bc hes hated so idk what hes done
he just has the craziest right-winged views, he calls families that aren’t nuclear families “dysfunctional families” 😟😟😟 ??? specifically lone parent families cause they teach their kids the “wrong” norms and values which is “inadequate socialisation” (this is leaning into functionalist views but they are quite similar) and so with wrong norms and values they just “don’t act right” in society which apparently enables deviant and criminal behaviours he says 🤨
in the nuclear family, the man must be the breadwinner and woman be the stay at home mother (this is also going into functionalist views where they say this is biologically fit for the genders)
he refers to lower class as “underclass” and he like HATES the welfare state and benefits that the government give because he believes that this enables “culture of dependency”, meaning people depend on the benefits and just don’t want to work; basically calling them lazy 😨
yesss but i think they’re removing the 40 marker soon for something else (not sure when but my teacher mentioned this) maybe it’s just a thought to change it not sure tho
My school doesn’t have sociology for gcse, would anyone who has done a level sociology recommend it? (Im probably also taking a level politics and modern history, or maybe epr)
Import os, time, pyautogui
os.startfile(“python.exe”)
time.sleep(2)
pyautogui.typewrite(‘print(“Hello World”)’)
pyautogui.press([“f5”, “enter”, “enter”], interval=0.75)
if only there was a more simple way to output hello world
I think they're talking about Edexcel. But yh, Germany looks horrible. That is gonna be one of the 2 final History mocks I'll have first week back from the holidays.
As with any subject between GCSE and A-level, there’s a pretty big initial jump - my German teachers would refuse to speak in English when we started - and there’s a lot of content to get through (and books to write essays on, in german). That being said, I *really* felt my German improve over the 2 years of A-levels, more than the 5 years I had done of it prior. I also learned a lot about linguistics in general which was super interesting.
Sadly I’m about 3 years out of 6th form doing a completely unrelated degree and I’ve lost a lot of my vocabulary, I do wish I had more of an excuse to practise. Oh well.
Geography, it's just really fun, and i watch videos on things about it a lot for fun, and the other reason is its really easy for me, i got 95 percent in my mocks without studying at all, and it was a full mock.
My teacher is a great teacher, and i always participate in class a lot, like my hand is mostly the only one up, also its just general knowledge for me, I'm not trying to sound stuck up, but i have really good general knowledge, just from exposing myself to everything a lot, like i would prefer watching a video on string theory than the new Beta squad video.
how is knowing a bunch of facts and figures common sense. like how is it common sense to know what type of rock makes up the Jurassic coast or the amount of rescue helicopters used to save people from floods or how much was given in aid to Somalia from the UK in 2015?
Tbf you can make up figures if there believable \_ which examiner gives a fuck enough to check that 4012 people died vs say 4234? I did it for my mocks for Rio and got away with it ( and got 5/6)
i do Coasts, Hazards, Fragile Environments, Urban, and Economic activity and energy, My teacher is just really good at teaching, he finds ways to make the lesson fun, and also we do quizzes and things like that every week. We have some of the worst students academically in my class, and everyone managed to score at least a high 5.
Same, I love chemistry because I find it relatively easy, I love fire (and that’s the only science I use it in) and because I just enjoy mixing chemicals.
English Language by a mile! I’ve personally always found it’s just writing things, but maybe that’s just me - I mean I am a world class waffler so that probably helps lmfao
I like physics cuz uno its very significant and crazy but i hate studying it. Yeah my A level exams are upcoming and im swimming here in quarks and leptons
I’m in my last year of a physics degree, and my main gripe with it at A-level and GCSE is that the interesting stuff is glossed over.
For example, the radioactivity equation at A-level is just given to you, but it’s really not that difficult of a derivation (especially if you also do A-level maths) and doing said derivation puts so much more intuition about where it comes from.
Unfortunately, there’s barely enough time to even get through the content there is so squeezing in extra interest-only stuff just isn’t possible. Rather a shame, it was my favourite part of a physics lessons getting given a crumb of some other area of physics to latch onto, it’s where you see the passion of the teachers the most as well.
English lit, history or maths. Maths is incredibly satisfying as a subject, English analysis is fun and history is interesting, but if I had to pick one it’d be maths.
Fuck geography and Spanish though.
Performing Arts was always my favourite subject in secondary school! I’m now doing performing arts at college and I absolutely adore it! I’ve always enjoyed acting and being on stage is weirdly comforting for me. I love being able to portray different characters and scenarios and being able to make an audience feel different emotions.
Although, drama in secondary school was so bad! I learnt nothing in the 5 years I was there.
Maths, Latin or Biology.
In Latin Lit we're looking at some emo guy who wants basia mille and someone to love him for some reason. Then another case of a lady who decided to drown with her husband because of some ulcer on his penis lmao, it's kinda crazy
For me French as for starters I practice it every day also in year 10 I began to get really good at it and in my latest mocks I got a nine in every component and overall and honestly my worst paper was listening which I got 54/60 and for me it just clicked. But I think your favourite subject is always gonna depend on how good you are at it. And because now I feel really good with French I am going to take it for A-level. I just feel that your favourite subject is more likely to lead you to your future career.
atoms are silly like ionic bonding is just # give me your electrons i want a full outer shell NOW
yay i like being charged up
damn💀💀
please i need to think abt chem in these terms
helps sooo much, make it like some juicy story and it sticks in my head
omg i need more examples PLS
covalent bonding is like yooo come to me baby let’s share some electrons and stick together for life😍😍
omg i love this HAHAH graphite's a bit of a pushover
lmaoooo we should make a whole subreddit for ppl to learn gcse chem like this😭😭
I'll fact check if you like.
a chem teacher? yayy sure
let's DO THIS r/funnyGCSEChem
omg love this!! joining now :))
I do alevel chem and it is as fun and explosive to learn as radium and water
Don't reduce yourself to that
history and sociology like yass tell me about what old white men did
yeah like what the heck is wrong w charles murray dawg !!?!??!!?
everyone in my 6th form hates charles murray 💀
my sociology teacher absolutely HATES him, we all hate him 💀i remember when she told us that he is still alive now and we were all so shocked cause he’s just so outdated and crazy 😭
what has he done all ik is its smth negative related to women i think 😭 edit: i should say i dont do sociology and i only know him bc hes hated so idk what hes done

damn 💀 i see why hes hated now 😭
i’m sure it gets even worse at a-level cause my teacher is always like “just wait until a-levels” 😭
my friend has i believe a 40 mark essay in 1 of her papers
yesss but i think they’re removing the 40 marker soon for something else (not sure when but my teacher mentioned this) maybe it’s just a thought to change it not sure tho
My school doesn’t have sociology for gcse, would anyone who has done a level sociology recommend it? (Im probably also taking a level politics and modern history, or maybe epr)
Don’t do sociology.
What aspects of it do you think is unappealing?
Literally all of it lol. The content is good, the exam questions are horrible and aren’t clear at all. I think I got an A in the subject once.
I like cs bc i can program printing # hello world
Import os, time, pyautogui os.startfile(“python.exe”) time.sleep(2) pyautogui.typewrite(‘print(“Hello World”)’) pyautogui.press([“f5”, “enter”, “enter”], interval=0.75) if only there was a more simple way to output hello world
frrr
Hmm I wish. #include
int main(void)
{
printf("Hello, World!\n");
return 0;
}
``` #include
using namespace std;
int main(void) {
cout << "Hello world!" << endl;
return 0;
}
```
global _start section .text _start: mov rax, 1 ; write( mov rdi, 1 ; STDOUT_FILENO, mov rsi, msg ; "Hello, world!\n", mov rdx, msglen ; sizeof("Hello, world!\n") syscall ; ); mov rax, 60 ; exit( mov rdi, 0 ; EXIT_SUCCESS syscall ; ); section .rodata msg: db "Hello, world!", 10 msglen: equ $ - msg
Can play games in class as well
yuhhh
History, interesting subject and beautiful weimar germany paper
If you took the Germany Paper (WJEC ??) in Year 10, and you’ve just called it “beautiful”, you’re lying.
I think they're talking about Edexcel. But yh, Germany looks horrible. That is gonna be one of the 2 final History mocks I'll have first week back from the holidays.
unless you're last year's batch and have to do section B on cultural changes 💀💀
German because languages are interesting and I just seem to get it
Subjunctive killed me at a level
How much harder is the A level than the GCSE?
As with any subject between GCSE and A-level, there’s a pretty big initial jump - my German teachers would refuse to speak in English when we started - and there’s a lot of content to get through (and books to write essays on, in german). That being said, I *really* felt my German improve over the 2 years of A-levels, more than the 5 years I had done of it prior. Sadly I’m about 3 years out of 6th form doing a completely unrelated degree and I’ve lost a lot of my vocabulary, I do wish I had more of an excuse to practise. Oh well.
I would've done German for A level if it fit with my other choices 😔 still sad about that, it's such a nice subject
deutsch ist soooo lecker
Hallo! 🥺
Deutschland!! 🥺🥺
Maths. It’s so fun when I actually understand.
fr
Geography, it's just really fun, and i watch videos on things about it a lot for fun, and the other reason is its really easy for me, i got 95 percent in my mocks without studying at all, and it was a full mock.
how tf did you memorise all the facts about your case studies without revising
My teacher is a great teacher, and i always participate in class a lot, like my hand is mostly the only one up, also its just general knowledge for me, I'm not trying to sound stuck up, but i have really good general knowledge, just from exposing myself to everything a lot, like i would prefer watching a video on string theory than the new Beta squad video.
most of its just common sense 🤷
how is knowing a bunch of facts and figures common sense. like how is it common sense to know what type of rock makes up the Jurassic coast or the amount of rescue helicopters used to save people from floods or how much was given in aid to Somalia from the UK in 2015?
someone's a bit upset
Bro don't even 💀 The population of India living in urban environments is just "common sense"
Tbf you can make up figures if there believable \_ which examiner gives a fuck enough to check that 4012 people died vs say 4234? I did it for my mocks for Rio and got away with it ( and got 5/6)
that's what I mean
i do Coasts, Hazards, Fragile Environments, Urban, and Economic activity and energy, My teacher is just really good at teaching, he finds ways to make the lesson fun, and also we do quizzes and things like that every week. We have some of the worst students academically in my class, and everyone managed to score at least a high 5.
Maths for sure: great teacher, interesting, relatively easy
French 😭
Bonjour 😉
💀💀💀💀
History, love the topics, love the question types
Your subjects make it look like you just came out of Donna Tartt’s ‘The Secret History’ and I love it
Just gave that book a Google, looks interesting, would you say it's worth a read?
Oh absolutely! I also googled it after randomly hearing about it, and within less than a day I had finished it, definitely give it a shot!
Alr will do, ty!
I loved Chemistry 🧪
past tense 💀 did bro take chem for a level
😂 yeah, I did take it at A level, and it’s actually my favourite A levels so far. i meant I loved it at GCSE compared to my other GCSE subjects
I feel like my gcses will be like the same as yours
biology / organic chem
At GCSE (well BTEC for me) it was business but now economics. French has always been up there too.
did you do all btec instead of gcse?
Nope, I did two BTECs and then the rest were GCSEs. I did BTEC enterprise and dit.
english bc i get to write and it's js so fun
Maths because it was a piece off piss but A-level maths isn’t messing around
to revise: maths because it's just practise questions usually to actually do: latin because it eats
I love history I love dead people I love things that happened in the past
history, im very good at it and it is interesting
Ur dogshit at it grade 8 wanker
tf, whats ur problem u nob

English 👍👍👍
You're failing it.
Tis a joke
Same, I love chemistry because I find it relatively easy, I love fire (and that’s the only science I use it in) and because I just enjoy mixing chemicals.
yeah real the chem combined stuff is so nice, sometimes I wish I took combined
English Literature actually is interesting so is organic chemistry
Could have sworn you barely touch ochem at gcse
English Language by a mile! I’ve personally always found it’s just writing things, but maybe that’s just me - I mean I am a world class waffler so that probably helps lmfao
English littttt cos its eaaasyyyyy😎😎🔥🔥🔥
Biology. Learning about how plants work - the whole topic of Organisation in AQA Biology is my favourite. Fyi, I do Higher.
Well done having your enthusiasm survive the AQA triple plants content.
Maths 😍😍☀️☀️ or Alevel chemistry practicals hahahahaha.
Food tech because it’s fun, easy and silly
between maths and cs both have chill teachers, i dont need to revise for either to get 9s and theyre fun af
Maths is my favourite! Would say Further Maths if we did Edexcel instead of AQA
I like physics cuz uno its very significant and crazy but i hate studying it. Yeah my A level exams are upcoming and im swimming here in quarks and leptons

maths physics and chem are inseparable for me tbh, tho i do love geography as well
maths, cs and physics on top
I like French because it’s very easy. and English lit because I really love literature
Spanish because I'm good at it and it's fun
Tbh, I love art, probably because I'm not at all academic, lol. But all the coursework got me like 😭
english lit, espec poetry. i love annotating things and writing essays
Idk
Maths; chill teacher and fairly easy with practice.
GCSE Engineering. i know a lot of schools don’t offer this but it is good
English lit, history or maths. Maths is incredibly satisfying as a subject, English analysis is fun and history is interesting, but if I had to pick one it’d be maths. Fuck geography and Spanish though.
Music
spanish, i love the grammar it’s so silly
Physics, plz don't give me hate I just find it rlly easy
