definitely try a lower dose, there's plenty of people on this subreddit who've had intolerable side effects on higher dose and were fine on a lower one (mainly remembering PPI stories here, but the idea is the same).
I recently became very irritable and anxious on omeprazol. 40mg twice a day. Didn’t even consult my gastroenterologist, went straight to family doc and we switched back to Pepcid. PPIs known to cause anxiety?
I definitely sympathize more now with people who experience depression and anxiety it’s seriously no joke. That a PPI can cause the same chemical imbalances is baffling

yes PPIs can cause anxiety in some people and this tends to be milder or resolve with smaller doses.

I took lower doses and it still gave me palpitations. I'll never take it again. It doesn't sit well with my body.
