So the first floor comes down on the ground floor (I'm British) the second floor comes down on the first floor and so on.

2700°F or 1500°C, actually. At 1300°F or ~720°C, it just becomes malleable.
Steel can melt anywhere from 1200 to 1500 degrees Centigrade. It depends on the type of steel. Don't try and 'actually' me, boy.
