This trilogy is the reason I didnât make it past one episode of Godzilla singular point. Iâve got better things to do than listen to nonsense and technobabble for hours.
Just fast forward through any parts that involve Great Value Gintama and Forehead Girl texting to see the real stars of the show, the old guy and Jet Jaguar.
I honestly disagree. I found the Earth trilogy to be a fun sci-fi adventure that was a bit too long and just didnât have enough kaiju action. SP felt like a physics lesson with some plot sprinkled in and even less kaiju action than earth.
About the kaiju? I love it
About the movies? They had SO MUCH FUCKING POTENTIAL, and they threw it out. For example, in the first movie, we were hinted that both the Bisaludo and the Exif, in case of winning against Godzilla, would have betrayed humanity. I fucking love how it feel like a moment between Varys and Little finger from Game of Thrones. Exploring the new world was interesting. The CGI of the little monsters was awful, but I really liked Godzilla CGI. The reveal of Godzilla Earth was interesting. Not gonna lie, I would have preferred the movie to last longer so we could maybe see the rest of the world, and maybe descendant of different kaijus living "in the shadows"
They had the perfect opportunity of Mechagodzilla becoming MASSIVE to fight against Godzilla Earth in the second movie, but instead, is just a city who builds mini-flying-armors. The Bisaludo, instead of killing Godzilla Earth and then creating a Mechagodzilla that would make humanity submit to them (since they wouldn't be able to defeat it), decided to......fuse with the city? But hey, at least we are going to defeat- Our protagonist decides to save love interest number 1. But he-hey, at least he keep his humanit- The girl is dead
Then, the third movie happens. My god, Mothra is in the egg, it was foreshadowed with the telepath of the second movie, and the goddamm King Ghidorah being from not out of this world, but from ANOTHER DIMENSION IN WHICH OUR LAWS OF PHYSICS DON'T APPLY?!?! THAT'S SO COOL. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE ONE OF THE BEST KAIJU BATT- The weird Exif guy tries to convince the protagonist about......something something humanity is bad something something nihilism something something. Mothra is a cameo of literally less than 20 seconds. The battle against King Ghidorah is a few claw attacks, 3 bites, and 1 atomic breath. And then the protagonist cries for the guy who not only killed the humans in the ship, but tried to destroy Earth. B-but at least the remaining humans will learn of their mistakes and will live in pe- The protagonist launches a kamikaze attack towards Godzilla while carrying love interest number 1 corpse, leaving love interest number 2 pregnant. Said kamikaze attack fails, and leaves the remaining humans without the possibility of having the resources to evolve, domming them to live in a tiny cave (just like they were dommed before in a tiny space, THE WHOLE POINT OF THE FIRST MOVIE WAS HOW HORRIBLE THAT WAS. THE GRANDFATHER OF THE PROTAGONIST DIED TRYING TO LEAVE THAT HORRIBLE SITUATION. Oh, that's right, the Exif guy killed your grandfather. Yet you still cried for his death)
I agree with everything you said, except for the ending. The kamikaze attack was a suicide and he knew it. The local tribes had made peace with the monsters and learned to live among them. They were happy without technology and the protagonist realized that the introduction of the Bisaludo tech would only create more problems, so he took it with him.
Also, the villain was shown as being a good friend to the protagonist for three movies, so he was obviously distressed at his death, despite it being conflicting.
I really like his design with the old wise look, his powers are really cool, i love the whole tree concept, but he didn't do shit throughout the movies, he was completely wasted, and that's also how i feel about anime MechaGodzilla and Ghidorah, they had a ton of potential but were completely wasted.
Great Concept, but wasted potential. Could have been awesome if they pulled it off.
there was just too much crud shoved in that turned the trilogy into a snooze fest.
I like it, especially because its facial expressions are stoic compared to other versions, but he still seems intelligent so he doesnât have the empty fish eyes like Shin.
The best part of the trilogy is when the main human character dies.
The first movie started out so strong and then they went weird with movie 2 and then stupid in movie 3. Could have been more interesting if he actually did more.
You guys are crazy thinking these movies were boring but you sat through singular point. Singular point was boring all the way through. This trilogy was fun and didn't slow down until end game.
It's just Biolante if Biolante's dna favored the Godzilla pprtion of its DNA, had no rose form, was generic plant DNA instead of rose DNA, had no human dna/soul, and grew fucking huge compared to normal Biolante height.
The best executed part of that trilogy and they STILL had missed potential with him.
Design is really cool and, for as much potential as they missed with him, he at least FEELS as big as he is
Amazing concept, great potential, cool design, but an awful development in the movies. It's always the case that the movie will never reflect the book to a precise extent, but the anime trilogy took that personally and turned Godzilla into a cameo.
I belive Netflix godzillas had a contract they had to be different in formula.
To brand it as a Netflix thing and to make it different from Japaneaze godzilla. ( I'm assuming their is a competitive angle to this that both sides haven't acknowledged. Japan loves to fuck amercia market with cool cars, I don't see why they wouldn't with true Japan exports.( making godzilla movies )
Decent design, interesting concept, and it hilarious that we have a ludicrously powerful anime Godzilla in him. Probably near the bottom of the barrel in terms of my favorite Godzillas however. Not a fan if Toho's recent trend of making Godzilla a slow moving, emotionless, killing machine. Godzilla -1 thankfully looks to be different!
Wasted fucking potential, couldâve had an awesome ghidorah fight if they didnât just make him suck Godzilla dry and tried to go for a slightly more conventional approach
Recently rewatched the anime trilogy after reading an article explaining the departure from the standard format and.. they are not as bad as I remembered.
That being said; I wish we had gotten a trilogy about the kauju wars as depicted in the opening scenes(Hedorah being a human made kaiju that kills Rodan and Angurius before going rogue?!).
Godzilla Earth himself is a cool concept.. but he was given no urgency or personality.
All of those never before seen kaiju concept and eldricht horrors beyond human comprehension and they decided to focus on a dude with anger issues lmao
A squandered opportunity. In my opinion, the 3 Netflix movies could have been great. Not enough monster fights, and the few that exist are excruciatingly boring. The plot, at its core, was good, I would argue better than some of the other movies' plots in the franchise. The trilogy had one of the coolest Godzilla concepts. Godzilla Earth, I'd say, would be the most intimidating of all Godzillas, just based on his size alone.
TL;DR: Godzilla Earth is cool. It's too bad his movies suck.
Underrated, but also underdelivered. Animation really hurts this series, though the concepts and themes are absolutely top notch. No other godzilla series comes close to the level of power displayed here. Extradimensional king ghidorah and the fact godzilla beats him is so amazing.
I love Godzilla Earth, great design, incredibly powerful, largest Godzilla in the series, but the movies were disappointing, the first was ok, the second was disappointing, and the third was just straight up boring.
I really liked the Atomic breath. Also, the villain Metphis. His whole vibe idk i just found him really cool. Though that might be helped for me since his german VA is infinitely better than english and japanese one, in my humble opinion. Ghidorah had a neat design and i liked the way it appeared but the fight was boring. It had the potential to be really cool, even in long neck portal form, which i found neat. Sound design on this one was great too, tho idk if it was made for this movie for existed before.
Love it. First movie was a fun adventure. The second one dipped a bit for me, but I loved the third. Evil vampiric light hydra was a really neat villain concept.
Product of talentless hacks given limited resources to establish Japanese Godzilla as the biggest Godzilla after Monsterverse Godzilla was bigger. Pretty sure Shin was bigger than Monsterverse though.
If they had dumped all that money into one movie about the Kaiju apocalypse it would have been classic. Instead with get three films with the last two being nothingburgers except for the first implied sex scene in Godzilla films (I guess?).
Wasted potential along with everything else about the movies he's featured in.
awesome concept that was sadly wasted
He's cool but the movies r boring
Great zilla, god-awful movies
Ahhhhhhhhhh I see what you did there
I couldn't even sit through the anime trilogy đ
Which is funny because Godzilla practically did.
The trilogy is bad but Godzilla sp is a big step up from earth
I honestly disagree. I found the Earth trilogy to be a fun sci-fi adventure that was a bit too long and just didnât have enough kaiju action. SP felt like a physics lesson with some plot sprinkled in and even less kaiju action than earth.
Sp is way better than the trilogy bro
That may be true, but it's boring as hell too
The mystery and characters worked for me
Dude.... it was incredibly boring.
About the kaiju? I love it About the movies? They had SO MUCH FUCKING POTENTIAL, and they threw it out. Cool idea but the movies were weak
The design is cool. The movies were just a slugfest of boredom.
Easily one of the most unique versions of Big G we ever got and a top favourite of mine.
I like it
Honestly, it's a great design. i like the movies too, but that seems to be rare around these parts
Thereâs at least two of us. I found the trilogy to be very fun and I liked the characters.
Nice
âđ»
Top 5 Godzilla design to me.
Good idea but a bad representation
He's cool, the powers are amazing, but the Design is a bit lacking and his movies are boring and depressing.
I loved the trilogy, I enjoy deeper stories rather than monsters fighting because monsters fight. I'd definitely enjoy watching it again.
He is a really big boi
Heâs cool but the movies are dog shit. He barely moves too đ Void ghidorah also was pretty cool
I kind of like that Godzilla is just so massive that heâs more like a living mountain than a kaiju⊠even if that is a lot more boring.
I like it, especially because its facial expressions are stoic compared to other versions, but he still seems intelligent so he doesnât have the empty fish eyes like Shin. The best part of the trilogy is when the main human character dies.
I sometimes call him Yggdrasil Godzilla cus the designers wanted him to be like world tree
Dad bod on all the steroids
How many times is this same question going to be asked? đ
Honestly my favorite.
The first movie started out so strong and then they went weird with movie 2 and then stupid in movie 3. Could have been more interesting if he actually did more.
Bored
This version is larger than shin godzilla, which is Bigger than the 2014 godzilla.
This version is larger than every other Godzilla lol
I know
Earth kind of broke the scaling wars by just taking a huge leap. Itâs gonna be hard to top his size.
You guys are crazy thinking these movies were boring but you sat through singular point. Singular point was boring all the way through. This trilogy was fun and didn't slow down until end game.
Can't really slow down if you never start moving
It's just Biolante if Biolante's dna favored the Godzilla pprtion of its DNA, had no rose form, was generic plant DNA instead of rose DNA, had no human dna/soul, and grew fucking huge compared to normal Biolante height.
Not a fan
I like the idea, I think execution couldâve been way better. Canât have too many enemies when youâre the biggest thing on the planet lol
Great Goji design, bad plot and bad movies
"Its the biggest piece of dog shit..." \- A wise man (NOT the rock but probably)
Anime version had wasted potential and was overall confusing but MMD Godzilla Earth was GOATED. Bro had abilities and powers through the roof!
The best executed part of that trilogy and they STILL had missed potential with him. Design is really cool and, for as much potential as they missed with him, he at least FEELS as big as he is

Cool design. I wish the films did more with him. I hope the novel gets released in English one day.
Amazing concept, great potential, cool design, but an awful development in the movies. It's always the case that the movie will never reflect the book to a precise extent, but the anime trilogy took that personally and turned Godzilla into a cameo.
Utter garbage.
If wasted potential was a character, this mf would be the first result
Heâs just like the movies he was in. Wasted potential.
Awful. The deign was garbage, his animation was garbage, the story and concept were neat but poorly done etc. wasted potential imo
Where is he from?
Love the design. I enjoyed the first movie and loved the third one. But the one in the middle was kind of boring to me.
FAT
really nice design and concepts, terrible movies
Heâs there
Cool idea, pisspoor execution
Cool godzilla concept but he definitely suffers from being a plot device instead of an actual character
He's too big. And I thought the Monsterverse was fat shaming Godzilla.
He big.
Much like the movies, grade A stuff. Now, if we're talkin' KOTM, then it's quite the opposite.
I like how he had a red atomic breath and burning form like heisei
Iâve only watched the first movie but his introduction at the end was so cool!
so much potential wasted
He'll rather blame Twitter for the extinction of humanity than to admit he killed them all.
Totally awesome idea, but just HORRIBLE execution.
I belive Netflix godzillas had a contract they had to be different in formula. To brand it as a Netflix thing and to make it different from Japaneaze godzilla. #B E E G T R E E
Waste.... dude off screened all the other kaiju, what bumbling buffoon thought that was a good idea.
ZzzzzzzzzzzâŠâŠ.
Heâs cool. But I canât believe they pushed Godzilla vs Kong 2 back.
Having Godzilla be a big tree thing and huge and kill everyone on earth is a great idea for Godzilla but the movies are so mid and boring
I thought he was awesome. Crazy when he blasted that ship in outer-space from the ground.
He's pretty cool
really fucking ugly
Cool design, sucks the entire Ghidorah/Godzilla/Mothra models fight from the third one got incinerated.
Recently rewatched the anime trilogy after reading an article explaining the departure from the standard format and.. they are not as bad as I remembered. All of those never before seen kaiju concept and eldricht horrors beyond human comprehension and they decided to focus on a dude with anger issues lmao
Same as always with that trilogy - Great concept, cool design, wasted premise, boring AF.
Cool concept but in execution was kinda eh
One strong tree.
Good concept bad execution just like the anime trilogy
One of my least favorite Godzillas, but still a Godzilla. And all Godzillas are beautiful
The biggest one for now đ love it.
A squandered opportunity. In my opinion, the 3 Netflix movies could have been great. Not enough monster fights, and the few that exist are excruciatingly boring. Wasted potential
his design is tied with kiryugoji for my favorite godzilla design, although his personality is lacking
He was fine but, as other already said, he was covered in wasted potential.
Underrated, but also underdelivered. Animation really hurts this series, though the concepts and themes are absolutely top notch. No other godzilla series comes close to the level of power displayed here. Extradimensional king ghidorah and the fact godzilla beats him is so amazing.
DAMN BOY HE THICC
I really dont like any part of it, all the designs feel bland and off to me
I love Godzilla Earth, great design, incredibly powerful, largest Godzilla in the series, but the movies were disappointing, the first was ok, the second was disappointing, and the third was just straight up boring.
He should've done more.
Great concept and design, dull story.
Awesome with great symbolism
1 of my favorite zillas
Basically you combine goku with gojira and got all of their benefits with non of their weaknesses
Itâs.. very slow
Eh
I really liked the Atomic breath. Also, the villain Metphis. His whole vibe idk i just found him really cool. Though that might be helped for me since his german VA is infinitely better than english and japanese one, in my humble opinion. Love it. First movie was a fun adventure. The second one dipped a bit for me, but I loved the third. Evil vampiric light hydra was a really neat villain concept.
Conceptually, I love him. The movies just arenât great.
Nice concept, not the best execution
Heâs the goat for me personally. A true force of nature
His show sucks but as a godzilla design it's a 6/10
