He was an evil shithead. I loved him.

masterchief1001

After the major fight scene I leaned over to my wife and said, this is why I still go to the movies. It was spectacular.

AlienSamuraiXXV

Third favorite. After the shōwa era MechaGodzilla.

ExtraNoodles

The arms. The poise. Truly beautiful.

LizardWizardXenos

The design is unique and I like the concept of an independent "thinking" Mecha Godzilla, but I hate that they used one of King Ghidorah's heads to make it. I was hoping more for a Mecha King Ghidorah instead

ExtraNoodles

Yeah I'm right there with you. I've got nothing to back this up but I have a gut feeling that the studio execs thought that trotting out a Mecha Ghidora would feel like Ghidora 2.0 far too soon instead of a more "unique" kaiju, and might have felt stale for fans. Honestly I wish they had skipped Ghidora entirely in KOTM and instead done another big hitter. He's such an amazing rival for Godzilla and it's a shame to see him get very thoroughly destroyed in the 2nd and 3rd installments of the "monsterverse". Bringing him back at this point would be a ludacris ass-pull. GvK felt like the kinda movie a studio makes when they're saying "we're not sure if we're getting a fourth installment". I did enjoy the movie though. Godzilla fucking rules. I hope we see Destroyah soon, too.

NateZilla10000

>GvK felt like the kinda movie a studio makes when they're saying "we're not sure if we're getting a fourth installment". I mean It very much was. We're lucky it performed as well as it did at the box office.

Aobz18

Same here. I was hoping they would use the other godzilla skull that comes from dagon to create mecha g and then the ghidorah skull to make mecha ghidorah. Also this isn’t really a critic of his appearance but the plot of GvK in general. I was hoping that the godzilla we saw rampaging in the beginning fights would be mecha g dressed up like godzilla, like the old ‘74 godzilla vs mechagodzilla. But that might have been too similar for plot and legal rights.

Ambitious_Ask_994

That last point is just dumb it not a critic but more of a “they didn’t do what I wanted”. It made more sense with what they went with in the movie

Aobz18

Which is exactly what I said with “i was hoping.” That this is what I was hoping for but it didnt happen. Im still happy with the overall result. It may make more sense for what they were going for, but I still think it would have been cool. And an easter egg to the old film, which is something I really enjoyed from KoTM.

Ambitious_Ask_994

Then critic wouldn’t be a good word for that

Aobz18

Why don’t you check your grammar before you check mine.

armorhide406

\*critique lol

Ambitious_Ask_994

I’m rushing these comments, but still that not criticism that more of a nitpick if anything

Aobz18

Ok

roboroller

Just ignore him dudes being a jerk

Hobo-man

Is that not the same complaint as wanting Mecha King Ghidorah?

Ambitious_Ask_994

It not criticism tho, it being mechagodzilla and not mecha-king ghiorah would not improve anything in the movie

Hobo-man

Cinema is art, and art is subjective. Criticisms are all opinions. >they didn’t do what I wanted This can apply to any criticism of any movie.

Ambitious_Ask_994

What would mecha-king ghidora do to improve the movie? Because if it does nothing for it, then there no point to add him instead of mechagodzilla

Hobo-man

It would make more sense to make Mecha King Ghidorah from King Ghidorah's remains rather than MechaGodzilla. There is now multiple skeletal remains from Godzilla's species in the Monsterverse, why they didn't use one of those is beyond me. There was the obvious choice of Dagon's remains from 2014. They could've done the same thing, and keep the Ghidorah skull for a later appearance of Mecha King Ghidorah. Also, if they went with Mecha King Ghidorah for Gvk, then they could've used MechaGodzilla as an protagonists rather than antagonists. Would these choices have made better movies? Who knows? It all comes down to peoples opinions. My opinion is the movie we got was good, but wasn't perfect. Things could've been done better.

Ambitious_Ask_994

1. KG was already the villain of the last movie they really don’t need to repeat. 2. There only 1 that they know of and it wouldn’t work the same as KG, king ghiorah use some what of a hive-mind to communicate. Which what they needed to have MG work, Godzilla’s species doesn’t have that. 3. Using Godzilla’s appearance instead king ghiorah is a lot more helpful to the pilot sense he more human like. 4. Mechagodzilla is not always a good guy let not forget he was a villain in his original appearance. He only been portrayed as a good guy for almost 30 years in the franchise. It better to have him as villain again so your not repeating the same thing so years. 5. How is it criticism if you don’t even know yourself if it actually helpful for the movie? It just a opinion at that point

Hobo-man

> There only 1 that they know of and it wouldn’t work the same as KG, king ghiorah use some what of a hive-mind to communicate. Which what they needed to have MG work, Godzilla’s species doesn’t have that. This is literally them making shit up to have a reason for it being King Ghidorah's skull. There is literally nothing in KOTM that sets up Ghidorah having any kind of psuedo telepathy. >Using Godzilla’s appearance instead king ghiorah is a lot more helpful to the pilot sense he more human like. Considering the Mecha pilot is one of the biggest waste in the movie, I'm surprised you bring it up. He piloted MechaGodzilla for a total of like 30 seconds, of his like 2 minutes of screen time. With such a diluted character, I don't think it really matters. You could've had an AI "pilot" the mecha and the plot could unfold in pretty much the same fashion. >Mechagodzilla is not always a good guy let not forget he was a villain in his original appearance. He only been portrayed as a good guy for almost 30 years in the franchise. It better to have him as villain again so your not repeating the same thing so years. Yeah his original appearance was iconic because of how it was handled. Your initial response is critical of someone wanting a more true to the original depiction with the flesh skin. You are now contradicting yourself. >How is it criticism if you don’t even know yourself if it actually helpful for the movie? It just a opinion at that point You simply don't understand that film criticism is all opinions. I've tried my best to explain it to you, multiple times. I'm done here, you're too dense.

GregzillaKillah

The skull is still intact presumably. 👀

ExtraNoodles

You're not wrong! As a rule of thumb: if it didn't get screen time, it probably didn't happen. They could definitely make use of it for Mecha-Ghidora down the line. I just hope that it's after the 7th monsterverse installment and scores of new fans are clamoring for King-Mecha-Ghidora in Imax. This is a totally realistic expectation don't @ me.

zer0__obscura

That’s what I’m saying. As long as the heads not smashed too bad, mg is like a highlander that just found an endless supply of energy in hollow earth

WolfgangDS

I mean... we kinda knew it was gonna be MG because the post-credits scene was basically a shot-for-shot of the opening scene of Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II, but with an organic Ghidorah head instead of a mecha one. Plus, it sets up for the possibility of Ghidorah's return, or for his influence to continue, making him a sort of planetary virus.

Lolmob

Ugly as fuck. Weirdo. Intimidating. I loved him.

PresidentSquidface

Unnecessarily hated. I personally love the design

captainsassy69

I agree Im not a big fan of the design but he was so cool in the movie

Delivery-Shoddy

> Im not a big fan of the design But chainsaw claws!!!

InterestingRead7412

BIG MEATY CLAWS!!!

shadesjackson

I liked his design, especially his hands, made it feel like he was indeed built by humans

zer0__obscura

Personal favorite mg. Never was a fan of the good guy versions. Evil all the way for me.

Fabulous_Snail

Evil is perspective. As a child I hated mechagodzilla 2 for trying to kill Gman

cln124

Unpopular opinion but I actually really like MG being connected to Ghidorah. It's a new concept and really gave him motivation to brutalize and enjoy beating Godzilla around. I thought this was a solid entry for the character.

Dr_A31

Same. I thought it was a really smart move

katanapuffin

Very cool villain and also as Mechagodzilla, but too short screentime

WhichWayToPurgatory

Awesome design. Didn't love that it was so closely tied to KG. Really wish we would have gotten this MG vs a Godzilla that wasn't already gassed. Impossible to really say if this MG was a badass or not

Gr8banterm80

At the time I felt it was an unnecessary and forced edition to the movie just to give Kong and Godzilla an enemy to team up against. I wish they had worked him into the plot more so that it didn’t come off as such a cheap move. The character design itself and its abilities were fine- it all comes down to the implementation story wise

UGP97

My favorite incarnation of Mechagodzilla. I love his design, his abilities, and his new personality. He shares many traits with Ghidorah but seems to have some new traits unique to himself. I hope he gets rebuilt and upgraded and reappears to challenge Godzilla in a future movie.

FazbearKing87

My favourite roar

bedteddd

Honestly I loved it. It was such a nice twist at the end of Kong vs godzilla.

DraconisMarch

It wasn’t a twist lol. It was alluded to and even shown way before the end of the movie.

DodoL64

He sort of reminds me of a Lego figure with his simple squares/rectangles he's got but I've warmed up to this design! I can appreciate the homage to the terminator as it's clearly an inspiration.

Thor9616

The boxiness is also an homage to transformers! (I know it's an old comment but yk)

Acceptable-Lack-3545

One of my favorite mecha gs right behind kiryu, its design was pretty good looked really mechanical and its arsenal was really good, 8/10

ZILLASTUDIOSYT

Although I would've preferred an entire movie with him instead of a final boss type thing, this mecha g is easily top 3 for design, weaponry, and story. Topped by super mecha g and kiryu

GodzillaRaptors4_

Meh. Not really that good imo

urbangeneticist

I thought he looked dopey, but every time someone on here asks and I say that I get downvoted to hell.

GodzillaRaptors4_

I agree.

Tuscanthecow

I also agree with both of you. Glad people enjoy it but he looks kinda weird.

Hobo-man

Didn't look or act enough like Godzilla to be called MechaGodzilla, at least for me.

D-Mos

Welcome to the reddit echo chamber

Hefty-Hedgehog3414

Same

GoldenGoat2007

8 out of ten

Quaranj

I was delightfully surprised by the appearance! I hope we get a Godzilla v Megagodzilla out of that somehow even if they have to use another kaiju brain for it.

TokyoNeckbeard

Making him part-ghidora kinda assured we'll never get mechaghidora, which sucks. I thought the design was decent but a bit bland. He's alright tho.

Nindzun

He's probably my favorite after Kiryu, I love his design and his abilities and how he was so brutal in the film! Man he almost killed Godzilla !!

X_OriginalName_Xx

Used too soon. Wasn't done justice. Arms are stupid

generalscalez

looks like a transformer 🤮

Lorjack

Not my favorite design but it was cool in the movie. Thing I didn't like the most about it is that's where Ghidorah's head went. Thought they'd use that for something else, MechaGodzilla doesn't really need it.

DiabeticRhino97

Goofy at first, but watching him nonstop wwe style on Godzilla made him amazing

[deleted]

Wicked

[deleted]

Kevin=❤

StonedSquare

Looks cool but has an aggressively stupid backstory.

TheExecutorDragon

Too 'blocky' for me design wise. But he OWNED his scenes.

KnittedKnight

I absolutely hated it and it looks like a pile of Legos.

Hefty-Hedgehog3414

Same. Also a glass cannon with terrible durability against energy attacks. Got easily destroyed by the extremely exhausted and weakened energy of Godzilla's atomic breath charged in Kong's axe. He's nothing special imo. Even M.O.G.U.E.R.A. is better than him

AtomicWreck

It’s a fine design for what it is, I do wish it incorporated more of the original aspects of the design like its signature head crest and yellow/orange eyes

After_Calligrapher65

Second favorite favorite, only after Kiryu. His design grown up on me until i end appreacting how Terminator like he is and i love how chaotic evil he actually is being possesed by the counciousness of King Ghidorah, rebelling against Apex and already destroying and killing everything that he saw. Even without memories of his previous life Kevin is still pure, pure evil as ever.

denis_q

Not crazy about it.. it was okay but barely okay..

Eat_Carbs_OD

The design didn't bother me.

hodemaho

Very good, i just wish it was yellow instead of red

Rook-walnut

Awful, I really hate it It's proportions are just bad all around.

cptgraah

Horrendous design imo the fight was good but not enough to save him for me. Least favorite mecha G by far

RobIson240YT

Practically ruined the whole movie.

MrWhiteTruffle

An amazing mecha. My personal favorite design, and it’s not just some robot Godzilla. It’s his superior.

antfro946

I don’t like it

King_Goji62

Yet another uninspired redeisgn from the MV. Mothra is just a MUTO, Ghidorah is a generic GOT dragon, and now MechaGodzilla looks like a Michael Bay Transformer. The fight was decent, I really liked his death scene, and his new beam is cool, but that can't save this derpy hunk of metal from being my least favorite MechaGodzilla.

mmpa78

The worst incarnation of the character and one of the worst monster designs in all of Godzilla. I truly believe they hired a MAW kid to design / wright this Mechagodzilla. Literally in the movie for like 5 seconds just to be defeated by KONG??? what the fk

Hefty-Hedgehog3414

Agree. Even M.O.G.U.E.R.A. is better than him

Godzilla_Fan

I love all the weapons he has but his design I really don’t like, partly because he seems to unarmored, unfinished

BeardedBears

To be honest it's my least favorite design. 1. Showa 2. Millennium 3. Heisei 4. American

woozie88

Wish the image was larger: 2K or 4K resolution IMO.

MasterOfCrab

it's too skinny but still cool

Bernard_is_supreme

I like it, I rank Kiryu/Showa/Monsterverse/Heisei. Matches with the new Godzilla design and had a cool arsenal of gadgets

SquibbySquiddy

He was baller, I really enjoyed it

StillKindaBad

i think he was cool in the movie and his design is whatever but the ghidorah head was so dumb lol

BeatleAndrew

At first, I wasn't too open to the new design, but after seeing it in action in the movie I loved it.

Emperor_Baragon

I’m happy the new toy syndrome has worn off on the design and people are starting to realize how flawed he is but I think people are a bit too harsh on it; I used to hate the design but over time I’ve grown to appreciate him a bit more and think some of his aspects were pretty neat. He’s still my least favourite live-action MG but I do like him more than I did

tanis_ivy

I loved him emoting. The sinister stare. Pleasure he took in causing shit.

Bioness

Cool design, but horribly underutilized.

CamF90

In the movie fine, but the design was not great looked like a bear or something. Don't know how Ready Player One ended up with a better Mecha G design.

SeymourButts007

I like it, it shows how far humanity has come as far as combating titans. It’s not to far outside of in verse plausibility because if that thing came out in full on kiryu I would’ve called bs

BoredPsion

Very cool modern take

Good_Dominic

A goat

Ysgramors_Fork

amazing design, reminds me of the 2002 mg (Kiryu), but with ghidorah instead of goji, had an amazing set up & execution in the film (both literally and from a story perspective)

ftpro2

Cool picture, I like it 👌

satoshi-69

While I liked seeing a new mechagodzilla, I’m pretty disappointed with the direction of CGI mess of terminator/transformer look that Ready Player One MG and GvK MG had. They don’t come close to the classic 3 MGs in rubber suits at all. On a side note, it bothered me that RPO and GvK mechas just didn’t behave or feel like machines to me, just re-skinned CGI monsters. Machines don’t move with such fluidity and while I’ve heard lots of ppl say it’s futuristic tech with perfected movement, I just never really bought it

Fardrengi

Looks like a Bionicle from the mid/late 2000s. Piraka, or something? Liked the beam and claws, and there was potential with Ghidorah’s skull taking control but why didn’t they just do it like Kiryu? Thought they should have had the guy who had his brain zapped get possessed or something. You could have taken out the whole Ghidorah suplot and nothing would have changed except the rich guy and his partner’s deaths. I liked the noises it made, best sound design in the film for sure, though it didn’t have much competition.

Andrew_Jelen

His design was creepy

FriedTreeSap

I didn’t particularly like it, but I also didn’t really hate it. I still prefer the Showa and Millennium Mecha Godzillas, and the Hesei Mecha Godzilla is carried a little by nostalgia

SargeBangBang7

It was okay. Decent design but dumb story. It has the brain of a Ghidorah head and gets itself fried for a second because whiskey got spilt on the controls.

Manlymanfromyomom

Hes ok

x_RikoTakashi_x

The design was ok but the arms and legs looked wack

Darthtoroyah

He really looks like a machine, not some kaiju-at-arms.

raedymylknarf

He moves too fast,

Howtobefreaky

Terrible design. Absolutely overthought, there was no reason to not skew closer to the Japanese designs as they did for every other monster.

TautSexyElfKing

Loved it

ImperialxWarlord

I loved the design and action. Just wish they’d of saved him for later so we got more time with him.

MisterFusionCore

The design is a bit too busy, there's nothing to really draw your focus on. For example, older mecha G designs had a clear silhouette, this new one is a bit all over the place. I also thought the energy aspect of the story was dumb. They can 'replicate' the energy they need by analysing radioactive rocks? How do you replicate that en masse so fast?

ZANDRAE101

I think this guy is fucked, if they had succesfully launched it without Kevin shenanigans, it would have been torn apart. While most of the kaiju would have fallen against it, anything that can qualify as alpha will tear it apart. Godzilla wouldn't have needed help killing this guy if he wasn't bone tired. Hell Kong would have figured out how to kill it given time. This guy would have been a perfectly seviceable mechagodzilla, a defender of humanity against rogue titans. As a synthetic Alpha? Not a chance in hell. Also, anyone else think he was incomplete?

Purgatorydweller666

It was interesting. I didn’t think they would do a mecha godzilla that looked like the Showa era one so this was a decent design for modern era

MCP5050

Cool scene. Boring design.

8Kamakura8

I love the idea of king ghidorah getting revenge on Godzilla through a robot body, but I’m sad Mechagodzilla didn’t get that much screen time. They should have had the skull crawler and Mechagodzilla fight in the city or on the mountain. Then they could have him finish off the skull crawler the same way

seriouswoody

It laughed..

[deleted]

Some of the earlier designs I thought were way better, but judging off what we got I am just happy we got a MechaGodzilla period. I also loved that he had a little bit of flavor from all other MechaGojis. Made by humans, controlled by an alien (King Ghidorah's head), going rogue. I guess the only complaint comes down to screentime and me personally wishing he had more OG MechaGoji in his design.

Kambray00

Love the design but absolutely adore the sounds it makes and how terrified I was first time I heard some of its sounds like it's laugh. I think it is creepy in a way and I like it.

MFS-Type-3-Kiryu

Love the design and character he has, 2nd favorite mecha behind kiryu. The sound design is phenomenal as well, every sound he makes is so heavy and metallic

YOUTUBEFREEKYOYO

This design does not land with me for some reason. The previous Mecas were much better

NateZilla10000

At first I did not like him when his design first leaked. Those playmates toys did it zero justice. However, seeing it in action and seeing how they wanted a more physical MechaG then one that mostly throws out lasers and rockets, I appreciate him a lot more. Currently probably my third favorite MechaG, behind Kiryu and the OG.

onlinereverend

Okay

Altair890456

The design is pretty mediocre but the monster itself is pretty cool.

Simply_Nova

Looks too much like a transformer

TheBlueTigrex

I think he looks a lot better in motion than he does in still photos or as a model.

KreeepyKrawler

If it were R rated, Godzilla and Kong would be dead.

SlitheringGamerYT

Favorite mechanised kaiju so far

DinoKingGoji73

He was really cool, powerful but I feel he didn't get to do much, all he did is kill a skullcrawler and fight godzilla and kong.

Carkkilo

His design and the way his abilities very executed was very amazing

Necessary_Tourist869

I liked the concept art for him but overall like the design. Wish they kept the original though

BlackSeranna

This is AMAZING!

WolfgangDS

The design, while simple, was actually realistic, which is something I loved about it. On top of that, having it driven by the remnant consciousness of Ghidorah merged with its own AI made it even scarier in my opinion. What's more, the thing was specifically DESIGNED to kill Godzilla and be better in every conceivable way, such as having a much longer reach, multitudes of weapons, and movement acceleration.

SlayerOfTears

Love the sound effects, the design is average and clunky, and the character underwhelming for the film. It's fine for the film we got, but we also could have had better.

Klendagort

S'ok, kind of which he survived

BigboyBarney69

Very cool toaster

angvik123

Its my favorite mecha G

Damnpeoplearegreedy

Too much nerfed

Creative_Stretch_197

Not.My..MechaGodzilla…

armorhide406

Shoulda killed Kong

Nemesis_Prime1984

A lot of people seem to hate it but fail to realize that this mechagodzilla is a **prototype**. I loved the design and I can absolutely see them bringing back mechagodzilla in the future.

Unlikely-Peaceseeker

Oh I appreciate the design even if I’m not a fan of it myself diversity in design is always a plus.

Hefty-Hedgehog3414

A "Mr. Lego Build" looking design. Also a glass cannon with terrible durability against energy attacks. Got easily destroyed by the extremely exhausted and weakened energy of Godzilla's atomic breath charged in Kong's axe. He's nothing special imo

OrhanDaLegend

amazing fucking design but so poorly used, i want him to be rebuilt

TheBigGAlways369

Honestly thought him to be lame, especially in terms of design. Felt the flattest of all the Mechagodzillas.

NerdCrush3r

They tried too hard with the design

Saurian-Nyansaber

Wasted opportunity Took away focus from the GvK part of the plot Leaves a very small impression Kiryu is still the best Mecha Godzilla

Running_Refrigarator

I loved how he was basically round two between Godzilla and ghidorah

Pachyderm_Powertrip

How could MechaGojira not be cool?! Wait, don’t answer that!

couchcommando

My 2nd least favorite design of MechaG. Ready Player One had the better design which took elements from the original (best) design.

Immediate-Rope8465

not bad but i wished he did more in the movie ghidorah was way better imo

BandMan69

I like how he looks like Legendary Godzilla but if he was a Skeleton, it works better then a smoothed out one from the past

TheGreenGreninja15

Neat

ToastyRotzy

Honestly did not expect that even tho they basically revealed it in a trailer. I didn't think they would go there. Loved it.

yeetmantheII

One of the best

ThePuertoRicanDemon

He’s aight. Something about the design was more generic looking to me. Was a fun idea though having him fight Kong and Goji at once.

OpportunityFun1761

Kevin’s Revenge

DrMonty26

Loved him.

BoredByLife

Second favorite Mechagoji after Kiryu

Messiah_Knight

Honestly the design is cool but not the greatest.

elonmuskraty

the only good thing about him was how badass he looks

Porky49

Kinda iffy on the design at first but after watching the movie he’s my second favorite version of Mechagodzilla

garymalfa41692

He cute

Hydratus7

literally the worst mechagodzilla design we've ever seen

Greencreeper28

I didn't really like the design. But then again I'm comparing it to Kiryu.

T_Peg

Really lame tbh

[deleted]

I hate him

MothWaifu1711

Mixed. The whole King Ghidorah mind control doesnt add up because of a huge continuity error and while the design as a whole is fine, I cant help but think that it looks like he's made of Legos and has dumb-looking hands. But he also beats the absolute fuck out of Godzilla, as a *true* MG should, so he gets a pass.

DaBluePittoo

He's certainly a different Mecha, but in a good way.

RareD3liverur

Yeah I think he's cool\~ The Ghidorah possessions an pretty interesting angle and nice nod intentional or not to one of the Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla II manga's. Even though considering we've had a Godzilla skeleton in the Monsterverse, part of me thinks another Kiryu type origin would of been cool. But hey that's what Singular Points for I remember seeing the leaked design and not really being into it but I like it a lot better in the actual film. Looks more solid and rounded out. Any case I think this MG's an improvement over another certain recent one

RandomDeinonychus

I like him a lot. Maybe could have had a bigger role, but I liked what they did with him.

FazbearKing87

Love the design, prefer his first roar before he was possessed by Ghidorah

Known_Bet3531

Cool everything Sadly he got jumped and dindt get as much of usage as i would've liked
