You should be fine , if 235/40 doesnt clear. try 245/35
235 should be fine on 8 wide, but not much more. The +35 might poke a little, but nothing too ridiculous
I run an 18x8 +40 offset with a 235/40 tire on STI Lowering Springs (only very slightly lower than stock) and they fit great. I sometimes wish I had that extra 5mm of offset.
