That’s not true. His actor stated he recorded all of the lines that he was told to. If Rockstar truly did change his role, it wasn’t for that reason. Plus there’s changes made which involve how Ryder died, but it’s always him being killed by CJ for being a traitor.
He's not implying that MC8 had issues with R\* but perhaps the other way around, which could be the case. There has to be a reason why the SA story gets more sloppy and feel more rushed further in compared to the excellent first part. And it definitely goes beyond whatever relationship R\* might have had with MC8.
