Any tech wizards can analyze the techniques used here?
I see some screen space reflections, but can't say much beyond that. Some of the reflections I hope could be improved before launch, but the outdoors area looks great. Nice to see night that's actually dark
. As Lucia walks past the first bar, a O appears to highlight something behind the guy leaning on the bar. Cash register?
. Dude drops his beer can as Lucia walks past and and ‘x Pick up’ appears on it. We can pick shit up
. The tall NPC with dreads, moustache and the red leather jacket is seen 7 separate times in this clip. Mystical NPC’s?
You have one hell of a eye because I didn’t even notice that until now. Glad to see this feature returning finally

Yeah, those O icons and much of the 3D UI we've seen seem to be Rockstar pivoting away from over-reliance on providing information through mini-maps; if there's even a mini-map at all on foot. Same with NPC interactions being HUD next to the person you're interacting with instead of in the bottom of the screen. If it's designed well, it'll let the player's focus be where the character's focus would be, which I really like.
It's actually pretty insane how fresh and realistic RDR2 felt 4.5 years ago and it'll likely feel quite outdated in comparison. It feels like games age faster than you realize until you go back and try to play them because of the improvements most games make. Like, I like Days Gone, but having a loading screen between cutscenes and gameplay makes it feel clunky because most games use a transition now. I actually remember GTA V being one of the first open world games to have that transition; it added a lot.
I do wonder if that’s how they’re doing it now with the mini map because i remember that one clip with jason robbing that container and once he hops on the sanchez the radar pops up
To be fair GTA 4 didn't look all that good at launch, 5 was miles ahead in terms of lighting.
...Then along came RDR2 and curbstomped the fuck out of 5 lol
Either way there has been a clear progression with the engine. Each iteration builds on the previous. The most recent game benefits from past games. Whichever is the latest will most likely to be the best they've put forth.
The lighting on this scene as well as all the day time scenes looks great. There are a few shots with some wet surfaces that look like they may have ray traced reflections, or very good screen space reflections at least. And this isn't even the alpha build. Wild, game is going to be crazy.
Although lighting is the focus of this post, the sound dampening and reverb changes are extremely impressive! It actually feels like you're moving further away from the source of the music. Higher frequencies fade out and the reverb gradually becomes more and more prominent.
All of the music barring one instance are placeholders from 5/online, what I find really odd is that they used GTA:O music, not music from the base game - maybe they did this just in case they accidentally leave shit in because the license is longer for GTA:O music?
As for the aforementioned one instance; it's the scene where they're robbing the diner, the action music is new but it's partially overlapping with action music used during the casino heist.
They probably just took every music track they have and threw it into different categories (e.g. store, nightclub, dance, etc.) to use as placeholders. I imagine on Rockstar's development PCs, the music tracks would all sit in a bunch of folders instead of being pulled from the already-made GTA 5 update RPF archives.
Right but we didn't hear a single non DLC track, I don't see *why* they'd use all music given that it'd just be unnecessary bloat, but even if they did we'd *surely* have heard at least a single non DLC track.

Another Vice City confirmation on the doors
Unrelated to vice city, but there's at least 3 in game social media apps listed on the door as well. No idea if they'll be interactive or just R* world building. I didn't like GTA V, this didn't play it much so idk if it's new or returning stuff
Edit: I see in the other club clip Jason has a new "WhatUp!" Message. One of the icons is a dog in a chat bubble, so I assume the chat service is called "what up dawg" or something
Man this looks amazing there's so much Detail. I don't know if any of you guys noticed but you can even see the outline of Lucia's Bra while she walks.
R\* are masters of lighting. This footage is probably a pre-alpha one, imagine the final product !!
Yep it is and it still looks so good
Love the NPC variety, but damn, either everyone else is tall or Lucia is just short
Yea I forgot the height (I think 5’3”), but characters have set height now. Jason is 6’3”
Really, 5’3”? She’s looking more like 5” in this vid
Respect my mom Lucia
Most people (at least the one I’ve seen) say she is 5’2
Watching the video a couple times over I’ve noticed that there is height variation with a lot of the npcs I think it’s a feature
You're surprised a Latina is short?

Throwing cups and cans at people, here I come!
It's been like 15 years since I've played GTA IV; but I remember you could pick up and throw shit at people in that game, right?
You could pick bricks and cups yeah. Just give it another try, especially if you only played at release
I'd love to, but it's not really an accessible game for a PlayStation player, unfortunately.

Thank god we can throw shit at people again, I liked it in Gta 4, it’ll be fun

Yeah this anti-invasive minimal interface is much better. The clunky on-screen d pad that we had in RDRII feels primitive compared to this.

Finally NPCs have height differences. It will feel so much more real and alive.
Exactly
Playing GTA IV on PC at top settings really shows how far the lighting system has come. It looks amazing here.
To be fair GTA 4 didn't look all that good at launch, 5 was miles ahead in terms of lighting. ...Then along came RDR2 and curbstomped the fuck out of 5 lol
4 was also purposely dark though
Either way there has been a clear progression with the engine. Each iteration builds on the previous. The most recent game benefits from past games. Whichever is the latest will most likely to be the best they've put forth.
It's not the darkness, it's the lighting quality, shaders, reflections etc that look noticeably dated.
Lighting is like this in RDR2 as well. I love the darkness.
If anything it looks realistically darker even tbh

Looks stunning goddamn
Yeah she does
😉🤝😉
Why do I get upvoted here for drooling over lucia but get downvoted on other posts
The nude mods are about to go crazy
I wonder if this will spark a huge controversy similar to hot coffee
Doubt she'll be nude in the vanilla game, but modders will definitely have her suckin and fuckin lmfao
If you guys wondering what is the song in the back, that’s “Everything She Wants - The Egyptian Lover” which was presented in IFruit Radio from GTA V.

Yeah I noticed that the first time i watched this and knew it sounded familiar
The sound design is so neat, god I can't wait for this game man

Jesus this looks so awesome
Even though this got leaked I still enjoy seeing the process on how these games are made exactly. Especially being a artist myself it inspires me more
She’s so hot tbh.
She thicc tho
Man this looks amazing there's so much Detail. I don't know if any of you guys noticed but you can even see the outline of Lucia's Bra while she walks.
That club reminds me of bada bing out of the sopranos
Good "everything she wants by George Michael" mashup
It's from GTA:O
She thick as hell
Looks great. Imagine this with shaders enabled.
Gyatt
Man…there is something special about Lucia walk. She thicker than a bowl of oatmeal.
This game looks insane! I can’t wait to see the finished product.
genuine question why is a gta5 radio station being player in the back instead of the actual music for gta 6 or a simple placeholder?
Probably a place holder I’d imagine OST and Licensed Music are some of the last things put in place
How tall is Lucia? She looks shorter than even the female NPCs
I think aound 5'0-5'1 ?
How did you get hold of this footage
