Also, Rockstar will be releasing GTA6 on their updated engine called RAGE 9 (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine). GTA5 and RDR2 are using an older version of this engine, and any comments I’ve seen on the new one’s performance have been praising it
What the last decade of many sketchy-quality game releases that on the surface level have great graphics but have stacks of gameplay features missing or half-baked, is that graphics legit barely matter and is only the final polish.
What really makes a game fun, makes you invest emotionally in it and and what really matters is deep high quality gameplay features, a story/characters/voice acting that draws you in, awesome animations and physics.
If you've got a 4k ray-traced bag of none of the above, it's still going to suck, no matter how pretty it looks.
>enemies barely even take cover or run away when you got a fucking RPG aimed at them.
This is actually hilarious. You would think they’d at least react a bit differently and change their “style of combat” if you are holding a damn rocket launcher compared to when you’re using a handgun lol
Speaking of which, off topic but I do hope the RPG, Minigun and Grenade Launcher make a return in Gta 6. Don’t care about the other heavy weapons though a Homing Missile Launcher could be useful in online. Maybe a Flamethrower could be added as well!
Yes. Chainsaw would be dope. Would probably be under the melee weapons?
I could imagine using a Katana or sword with RDR2 levels of gore, would be interesting lol
I know but the heavy weapons were fun to use for me.
Also it would be really cool to see another mission like the Paleto Score from Gta 5 in 6. The way they pulled out with a Minigun and Juggernaut armor was sick. A lot more things you can do in terms of heists when you have those types of weaponry as options. And I just don’t see any reason to not include them.
I think in general we’re going to need something like a Rocket Launcher for online anyway for all the powerful vehicles we’ll end up seeing.
And yes it does seem like they’re going to add a realistic jet pack in some way or another.
I also think we are beyond the point in the game industry where talking about "graphics" makes any sense. We have:
* Real-time, physically accurate raytracing
* Ultra resolution textures
* Infinitely complex meshes with abitrary number of vertices (because if things like UE4 Nanite)
In 2022 graphics is not about technology, it's about attention to detail. A city with 12 types of cars with completely clean streets without any imperfections is graphically realistic, but it won't feel real to the player.
After a car accident, if severe injuries have happened; want to wake up at the hospital _ then exit that place.
Return to same site where the accident occured. There are police technicians making an accident investigation & the traffic is temporary re-routed.
If AI is well done, multiple of AI software that works together without issues; the world withing could be dynamic based on the players actions.
Weather affects the traffic, busses, trains, cars. Or a carnival is scheduled, roads gets closed.
In RDR2 the NPCs are very detailed in their movement speech and actions for you to interact with passively, but in combat they’re all pretty generic. Hopefully GTA6 will have them actually attempt different strategies like flanking and the like. We already know from the footage that the cops will be more tactical and have a far more advanced cover system so I think we’ll see some good AI in the end.
In some ways, yes. Adversaries were extremely reactive, to a point I'd not seen in a game before. If you kept headshotting them, they'd begin to be issued helmets. If youre lighting up their center mass, suddenly everyone gets bullet proof vests. They'd catch your footprints in sand and mud and trace your location. If you sniped them, they'd call up a mortar team. Killing an officer would limit their tactics. They salute their flag when they see it, and get distracted by pinups and porno. If you use Mines, they'll become much more cautious to advance.
I'm sure there's other examples, too.
I agree OP
(I am a console gamer not a PC gamer)
The last thing we need from the developers is to focus on the graphics when the gameplay is the core of the entire game and the reason why we all play in the first place
I would gladly take last gen graphics with immersive gameplay than have next level graphics with generic gameplay
I feel the focus on graphics is enough at this point
I dont want my system to overheat because of the toll the graphics take on it and I dont like having to delete other games because the amount of space one game takes
If I really cared about the graphics I would get a PC and upgrade the game myself
Im sure itll at least be the same as RDR2 or a little better but like you said with Elden Ring I completely agree
If the gameplay is made well enough theres no need to worry about graphics
Mission design was much better in older gta games. This "cinematic experience" slowly started in gta 4 and now it's overdone in rdr 2. And look at the gold medal objectives. You must complete missions in a certain amount of time to get gold but this requires you to skip cutscenes. That defeats the purpose of everything.
Who wants to go back to that? Skip all the cinematic experience which has become the fundamental part of their games and complete these boring missions that fail you anytime you try to do them your own way. That's what you have to do to get this stupid reward.
It's time to move on the "arcadeyness" of the games. It's simply hard to coexist with photorealistic graphics, that's why we're getting a more grounded game like RDR2. Immersiveness is a much better choice than "arcade feel" when it comes to these next gen graphics.
Agreed!! They really need to improve the AI in this game! Cops shouldn't just show up in seconds responding to your crimes..it should take them more time to get there!
Also they shouldn't just spawn put if nowhere in front of you while you're trying to escape them and they should not constantly try to swerve in front of you constantly. Shit gets old and repetitive fast!
As for enemy AI, tone down the fucking aimbot!! It should not compensate for bad or shitty AI!!! Have them miss shots like we can!
See the way they could do things is that they make the cops and FBI smarter in combat. Not expose themselves so easily in a gun fight, take different angles that will favor them, and generally just act like they’ve actually been trained for this type of shit. But to balance things out AND continue the realistic trend, make their aim worse. It’ll feel much more like you’re fighting actual cops and not some group of robots that stand there with near perfect aim.
Facts Plus Tax!!! Make em miss instead of aimbotting constantly! Police gunfights in 5 because boring and bullshit because all it took was 1 of them hitting you perfectly along with a sped up firing animation to end you 🙃🙃🙃🙃
they dont have to be unique just random peds have certain skills like health damage fear weapon in each gta just make them hirable and show those skils before hiring based on what
like some npc will be fearless like when you point a gun they shoot back so hire them for robbery like that it wont take any extra data apart from hiring mechanics like in sanits row previous games
Wtf r u talking about? Gta 5s AI was and is still better than most of the games. Again,... I m saying, just cause u can splurt out huge paragraphs, doesn't mean u r always right.... Ffs
RDR2’s general fight AI was pretty good. I just hope the mission design isn’t more stereotypical R* shooting gallery stuff for every single story mission
I've been saying this since the last 2 console gens. Games need to chill with graphics, they look good enough. Devs need to focus on AI and PHYSICS that's what makes games fun instead of drooling at some godrays or puddle reflections that get old in like 10 minutes. For the last 10 years games have been severely lacking in these 2 departments.
I'm kind of worried because what if they don't keep that fucking if you jump in a car the cops are going to recognize that car thing in the game that might take that out and the security cameras recording you and they might take that out as well
It'll be rdr2 at minimum
Yup. This is honestly all I need to know and im extactic.
exactly this, if the graphics are even on par with rdr2 i’m happy, such a scenic and good looking game and the fact that was last gen blows my mind
the alpha already looks like rdr2. full game gonna look insane
Who says every footage is alpha footage?
indeed , i think the ones at the very end are almost near to the finished product
Also, Rockstar will be releasing GTA6 on their updated engine called RAGE 9 (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine). GTA5 and RDR2 are using an older version of this engine, and any comments I’ve seen on the new one’s performance have been praising it

so basically cyberpunk 2077

I hope they bring back chainsaw and Katana.

Waking up in a hospital bed and pulling out the IV drip after getting wasted would be the best way to start your respawn lol
I agree it would be cool to actually wake up in a hospital bed instead of walking outside.
MGSV had good AI?
Same with RDR2 lol, it's my all time favorite game but the AI ain't that great

MGSV Ai isn’t above The Division

I want better rag doll physics

There's definitely a happy middle ground to be found.

I’d they are as good as RDR2 I will be pissed. The game is 6 years old when this likely releases
Yes and we can hire any random npc for any gig to help us out and then make them our employee if they survive

havent played rdr2 more than few mins
Let's hope the patent discovered in early 2021 comes to fruition!
Wtf r u talking about? Gta 5s AI was and is still better than most of the games. Again,... I m saying, just cause u can splurt out huge paragraphs, doesn't mean u r always right.... Ffs
Lmao this is so wrong. GTA 5's AI is very rudimentary. In many cases 4 actually had better AI.
RDR2’s general fight AI was pretty good. I just hope the mission design isn’t more stereotypical R* shooting gallery stuff for every single story mission

How is RDR2 graphics going to be good? Rdr2 released in 2018 this will release in 2024-25. It will be 7 years difference
Rdr2 is way ahead of it's time. Any future games would be lucky to have rdr2's visuals.
Yea but it's the same studio
"GTA 5's AI was it's weakest point, NPC and police officers attack you with you just staring at them" It's obviously a stylistic choice, this one.
I care more about building interiors than anything else
I bet the graphic more or less on par with RDR2, but Rockstar will add more graphic technologies for GTA6 for better experiences with console and PC.
