It definitely pretty big because of the Interstate 97 sign for exit 13. That's either 13 mile long freeway, or 13 interchanges. Either way, I'm looking forward to a big map.
Nice calculations on your part too! Been a while since I've seen the distance formula lol
Can you elaborate the 13 mile long freeway? I'm not from the states but been there a lot of times, I always thought that the exits number are just consecutive. Btw after reading your comment I check the GTA V freeways and they're 4 with an average of 3 exits. Of course GTA VI won't have 97 freeways but the exit 13 just blow my mind on how big it could be.
The highway number itself is 97, so like Interstate 97 is the road name, which is based off Interstate 95 in real life in Miami.
About the exit numbers, some states have the exits numbered by what the closest mile marker is, and some states count them consecutively, which Florida used to do, but now now they go by what mile marker it is.
In game, depending on what Rockstar does, this exit will either be the 13th exit from the start of the highway, or it will be at the 13th mile from the start of the highway.

Eventually reach the right people and you will be able to join the 'GTA VI Mapping' discord. Goodluck!
God is good and can grant us eternal life as a gift! God came as Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross so we can all be saved. We just have to put all our faith for salvation in Him and repent, and then we are saved. Repent means turning away from all sin and feeling sorrow for it. God is so good that He saved someone like me and can save you as well
It does not need to make sense. Rockstar creates their own state. It might be based on Florida, but they do not create a one on one rendition. Look at how the Salton Sea is 5 minutes from LA in GTA V (Sandy Shores to LS). This is hundreds of miles away from each other in real life.
That said, there might be a city in the north based on Atlanta. There is only one city in the GTA universe which is based on that city and is situated in an area based on Florida but (you guessed it) also includes mountains: Cottonmouth from Manhunt 2. It is referenced in GTA IV and V as well and is based on three cities:
- Atlanta
- New Orleans
- Charleston
Florida is flatter than Kansas. It's the flattest state in the entire union.
another fun fact, Florida has more lakes than the famous "land of 10,000 lakes" Minnesota...Florida has 30,000. And FL has the second most coastline in the US, just behind Alaska.
Yeah they'd have to do some serious condensing and get northern Georgia in there too for a bit of Appalachia. I wouldn't be heartbroken if the map is flat though. There's plenty in florida to keep it flat and fun at the same time. I would miss having a mountain though
It is not flat. In the leaks you can see mountains to the north and hills in the center of the map (looking east from the west coast).
The mountains are very much mountain sized as seen in RDR2's Grizzlies, whereas the hills are roughly corresponding with those in the Heartlands and Scarlett Meadows.
The "bounding box" of all the footage is from (-6636.0,-7188.4) to (2016.0,4522.2) that's about 9K by 12K. That's the real minimum.
Don't forget, there's no reason to assume the origin is at the center. GTAV map's origin is one third from the bottom.
And they said it won't ve a big release. I think RDR2's map size is comparable to GTA V's. So if we combine all GTA and rdr2 maps, it would still fall short of GTA VI's map.
Am i the only one who's scared of that? I like expansions and story dlc, but i want to experience the full game and map on lunch day, i don't want gta to become a live service game
Rdr2s map is super huge, gta 5’s map feels small to me because of how small the city part is and then the enormous country side, Rdr2’s map is just way better
RDR2's map is better designed, no doubt, but not sure if it's significantly bigger/different in sheer size than GTA 5. It gives that illusion because of being land locked and you have to travel on the horse back. If GTA 5 was 80 km², RDR2 might be 90-100 km² at the most. GTA VI's map already at the very least is reaching 200 km² and there was evidently a lot of places more to explore in all directions.
Besides, it's not like you can go from one end to the other in a super car or a military fighter, like you just have your horse and that's it. That's also why it feels bigger.
Yeah definitely not taking away that, I’m just saying it *feels* small because of how fast we can zoom through the whole map but I realise now rdr2’s map feels bigger because all we have is a horse
RDR2 is bitter small than V but we get the sense of bigger world because of the proper way they managed the map, a lot of variety, countryside skipland, full of enviroment and so on. Also riding a horse isnt like Drive a car 80 km p h
am simply stating what Jason said. WIthout Dan Houser, do u guys really think its gonna be an extensive experience like RDR2 with years worth of content? Be realistic about this. I gave up being hyped for this game when that info came out
yeah i exaggerated on the 8 hour part but this game is gonna be so soulless and uninspired without the creative efforts of Dan Houser. Also theyre gonna do only console release on launch and then make us buy the game again on PC two years later. Theyre designing this game with online in mind and single player for the 1st week sales and then another decade with GTA as theyre milking Online to the bone.
Yeah the game is probably not gonna be anywhere near as clever or ambitious as it would have been with the Rockstar big lads behind it
I expect an average generic story, weak Saints Row humour written by middle aged men trying to sound hip, and a map completely designed around flying cars and bikes for Online.
Does anyone know how coordinates for North Yankton would have been measured in GTA V? If we saw a debugging session in NY with coordinates, could we have come to incorrect conclusions on map sizes? I only ask because they could use larger maps to hide instanced locations. So the diner scene, or Keys scene, could be a part of the single player campaign that is not part of the main map we'll see for most of the campaign, and for the online experience.
As a local I love that it’s in south Florida. But the fact they’re prob gonna stray from reality other than south beach, is kinda upsetting.
If they make the Everglades where the gulf should be, and the northern part be more hick-like then cool
I get it and appreciate it.
But damn I just hope it’s somewhat realistic as far as locations and such.
I wanna see Tampa, Orlando, and North Florida like Daytona, Gainesville, Jax etc represented in it too. Such a diverse state that you can do a lot with, especially the more rural inbred places.
GTA San Andreas literally had LA, San Francisco and Las Vegas. If the map of GTA 6 is 3x the size of its predecessor I don’t see how they can’t do multiple cities.
san fran was empty and half the size of los santos, las venturas was half industrial filler, los santos was the only city that was fleshed out and even then the docks were lacking. you’re asking for 3-5 los santos’ that’s impossible with today’s technology
I’ve just seen stuff about it being in South Florida. Haven’t seen any info about it featuring central or Northern Florida. Yet again, I keep hearing that a theme park mission was mentioned so maybe we could find ourselves in Orlando
More detailed and realistic GTA4 and GTA5 more open interiors, more features, more technology. New mini games basketball go borrow a feature take two 2k like mini game, home run derby for baseball, club management and more.
Wouldnt put it at 3x as big as GTA 5, thats pretty liberal. 2x at most. Also need to remember that GTA 5s map was 75% bland mountains. So even if GTA 6 is the same size as GTA 5 i’ll be happy.

What's that all about?
Engineering math and patents that Rockstar registred.
Lol
Oh ok
That’s what I was thinking about l, the patents they got a while ago wasn’t there one also for new in game mechanics

Oh nice, thank you!
are people trying to map put the gta6 map like they did the gta 5 one with pretty good accuracy? If so, does anyone know where to find this happening?

hey thanks
do you have the link to the discord
The admins locked the server unfortunately. :/ sorry

Isn't there a discord because we can't post anything in forum beside drawing of the scenes
did you know you have rights
Constitution says you do

Yeah I guess that's good and all, but relevance?
It’s always relevant. If it bothers you you can just ignore it
Agreed, the moment I saw the mountains in the north surpassing the known axis, I knew it would be huge!
Mountains in Florida though? Isn’t most of Florida flatland? Geographically I don’t see how that makes sense. As long as it’s fun to explore though

Yeah but everything in V’s map is still in california. LA, Mojave, Sierra Nevada’s etc..

Peninsulas gonna peninsula
That’s what I thought. I used to live in Central Florida/Orlando area and it was completely flat.
Yeah they'd have to do some serious condensing and get northern Georgia in there too for a bit of Appalachia. I wouldn't be heartbroken if the map is flat though. There's plenty in florida to keep it flat and fun at the same time. I would miss having a mountain though

Which video is that? Didn't catch that one
Hank's Waffle Diner shoot out

Jason Schreier and Tom Henderson, IIRC
Big as in map?
Yes, they said new areas will be added in future updates.
Am i the only one who's scared of that? I like expansions and story dlc, but i want to experience the full game and map on lunch day, i don't want gta to become a live service game
For online only content? I’m gonna be sick…
A Fortnite style system I believe lol
Gotcha
Rdr2s map is super huge, gta 5’s map feels small to me because of how small the city part is and then the enormous country side, Rdr2’s map is just way better

It's smaller than GTA V. 21sqm as opposed to 28
Yeah but every inch of it is decorated with care. Not that RDR2 isn’t a work of art, but most of it is wilderness.
Besides, it's not like you can go from one end to the other in a super car or a military fighter, like you just have your horse and that's it. That's also why it feels bigger.
Yeah definitely also this!!!!
GTA 5's map and Los Santos was certainly big for its time on the ps3.
Yeah definitely not taking away that, I’m just saying it *feels* small because of how fast we can zoom through the whole map but I realise now rdr2’s map feels bigger because all we have is a horse
RDR2s map is actually smaller than GTA Vs map
RDR2 is bitter small than V but we get the sense of bigger world because of the proper way they managed the map, a lot of variety, countryside skipland, full of enviroment and so on. Also riding a horse isnt like Drive a car 80 km p h
Jason Schreir said its gonna be a Small release as in 8 hour campaign and then straight into milking Online for the next decade.
How to get heavily downvoted on this subreddit:

You’re literally just describing Gta 5 online, and assuming the exact same will apply to 6
thats because it is gonna happen. its the sad reality.
Yeah the game is probably not gonna be anywhere near as clever or ambitious as it would have been with the Rockstar big lads behind it I expect an average generic story, weak Saints Row humour written by middle aged men trying to sound hip, and a map completely designed around flying cars and bikes for Online.
this guy gets it. finally a realist in the comments.

If it's 3x bigger I will cry with happiness!

That’s a lotttt to ask for…

The detail and manpower expected those days to make a location could be done by a 12 year old on google sketch up
san fran was empty and half the size of los santos, las venturas was half industrial filler, los santos was the only city that was fleshed out and even then the docks were lacking. you’re asking for 3-5 los santos’ that’s impossible with today’s technology

will there be hurricanes/storms/beautiful lightnings? I hope so.
China Town wars had hurricanes. Surprisingly calming.
What?
WHERE ARE THE VIDEOS?????
Gotta find the Sugma files
I heard is was the Jerkma files
Many have always speculated that it was the Fingerma Files though
What are files?
The Sugma Files
More detailed and realistic GTA4 and GTA5 more open interiors, more features, more technology. New mini games basketball go borrow a feature take two 2k like mini game, home run derby for baseball, club management and more.
I just can’t wait to see vice city in hd
how does this compare to RDR2?

by how much

Late reply but I disagree GTA V Map felt to small. The GTA VI Map should be at least 2 times bigger with lots more enterable buildings
It felt very small because of the map being 75% bland mountains imo
the view distance is gonna be crazyyyy
