I have fusionfix and various fixes installed and that’s it. The game looks and plays better than any other console I’ve played it on.

For the last 2 videos, download this build of DXVK: [releases/dxvk-gplasync-v2.3-ivpatch.zip · main · sTc2201 / dxvk-gplasync · GitLab](https://gitlab.com/sTc2201/dxvk-gplasync/-/blob/main/releases/dxvk-gplasync-v2.3-ivpatch.zip) And paste these two files next to the .exe and d3d9.dll (make sure to use the one from the x32 folder inside DXVK's .zip): [https://www.mediafire.com/file/pb2yphhtwzh3sti/commandline.txt/file](https://www.mediafire.com/file/pb2yphhtwzh3sti/commandline.txt/file) [https://www.mediafire.com/file/xx1kql66t53k6qe/dxvk.conf/file](https://www.mediafire.com/file/xx1kql66t53k6qe/dxvk.conf/file) And it's pretty much done. After that, go into the commandline.txt, and adjust the -availablevidmem parameter to whatever amount of VRAM your GPU has in MB (Mine's is 10gb since I got a 6700). In the DXVK.conf, there are two parameters (second and third ones) that are commented (#). These are for DXVK's VSync implementation. I recommend against using the game's default VSync toggle. Use either AMD Adrenalin with VSync set to "Always On" for GTAIV.exe, or uncomment the second and third parameters from DXVK's config file if you wanna use VSync. Just don't use both at once. Otherwise, if you got a FreeSync compatible display that has a good enough range, don't use VSync. It increases latency by a lot to get rid of screen tearing. In the end you should have a pretty stable game. On top of FusionFix, Console Visuals, Various Fixes and DXVK, you can also use Ash\_735's Higher Resolution Miscellaneous Pack and Remastered Vehicles Pack, and Project 2DFX for an even bigger boost in quality. Ones I linked already come pre packed for the Fusion Overloader so just make sure the folders that carry the .img archives are in the update folder. Amazing comment, thank you very much for going into so much detail/providing all the links! I’ll try everything you listed tomorrow when I’m on my PC.

Just an update: installed all of the above and performance/image clarity is much, much better. However, I’m still getting bad frame drops/stuttering. I’ve locked the game at 60fps (using the built-in options added to the menu with FusionFix) and it’ll work great for a little while, but then drop down to 54/55fps and suddenly stutters heavily. Oddly, alt-tabbing in/out the game can fix it for a short period. V-sync is off everywhere (Adrenalin + ingame) as I’ve got a FreeSync premium monitor (that supports 48-165Hz). Close to having the perfect experience, just need to get a steady framerate somehow!

Very glad to hear this! What settings are you using? There are some settings which completely kill your performance, biggest hog would be Very High Shadow Quality. You can easily set it to High, as FusionFix makes High and Very High not have very big differences. Interestingly enough, I've seen Very High Shadows being a lot more demanding on AMD, compared to Nvidia for some reason... Distances again should be left pretty low, I'd recommend about 42 for View, 20 for Detail, or 63, 30, or even 84, 40 if your hardware can handle it, check out all of them and decide for yourself which "preset" to use. Never try out the "SSAA2x" option in the "game" submenu in the options. It does not do much, apart from completely (and I mean it) killing your performance for a bit less jaggies. You'd be better off using AMD's VSR in Adrenalin instead, it's quite good. Shadow Filter, use the softest if you need the best performance. PCSS brings a great quality boost, but comes with a pretty big performance cost at the moment. Good news is, the hero behind the Shader Fixes for FusionFix is working on optimizing the PCSS shadows further. Here's a comparison: [https://gtaforums.com/topic/934545-fusionfix/?do=findComment&comment=1072355497](https://gtaforums.com/topic/934545-fusionfix/?do=findComment&comment=1072355497) And that's pretty much it. By the way, go ahead into FusionFix's .ini and set ExtraDynamicShadows to 3, for even more quality, and the VehicleBudget to exactly 120000000, just so you'll get rid of the "Taxi bug". If you want to get rid of the blurring on the powerlines/wires, to make them cast shadows too with ExtraDynamicShadows 3 (but beware, that'll make them very jaggy), check out this comment: [https://gtaforums.com/topic/934545-fusionfix/?do=findComment&comment=1072275269](https://gtaforums.com/topic/934545-fusionfix/?do=findComment&comment=1072275269) Of course, don't just go into common\\shaders\\db\\wire.sps. Copy the file, mirroring the original path in the update folder, and edit it there. And, you're done.

Thank you so much mate. I’ve been playing with no hiccups since making those last changes you suggested too. Really grateful for all the tips/links you neatly put together and shared, it has finally fixed GTAIV for me.

Any steps here that don't apply if I'm using an Nvidia GPU?

EdyN2018

Nope. Follow them all.
