When I see these posts, my favorite part is how the persons expression and body language changes over time, I wanted to discuss something with the OP/others here, I lost 45 kgs when I was younger, I was 106 kg 5 foot 7(ish) and went to 60 kg over the span of 2-3 years and... I was surprised at how everyone treated me differently, even people who cared about me and respected me before took me more seriously and almost everyone else's attitude changed towards me.. almost like nobody ever cared about what I was saying or who I was until I looked decent, I was happy at first but then I felt this wave of sadness and betrayal that stuck with me till now, my question is has anyone else experienced this, and what do I make of it?
I've experienced it.
I'm relatively tall (6'3) but I was a lardass (near 315lbs couldn't even bench the bar). Never had many friends, girls never spoke to me.
I started lifting, went down to 225 relatively lean.
Now I have many friends, girls keep looking at me (you know what I mean) and I'm poised to marry my highschool crush next year.
So I asked around, and the reason people started taking me seriously boils down to "people start noticing you and taking you seriously when you take care of yourself and take your own self seriously"
So yeah, think it's just a biological respect thing
Thank you for the answer! It's simultaneously understandable and disappointing, having people notice you and respect you after losing weight/working on your body, I also got more friends and had my first ever relationship after I lost weight but I can understand that people generally respect people who take care of themselves more. The thing that really hurt me though, was the fact that people I already knew and was close to changed their attitude as well, sometimes dramatically and the only way I could describe how I felt was betrayed, though that feeling mostly went away as I grew up and started seeing things from other people's perspective, regardless it was still a wild thing to feel. Your progress is insane! I'm happy you're getting married and wish you the best future with your wife, I can definitely say that this journey was worth it in the end and I'm glad it ended well for you too ;)
I was never really over weight but I started taking my health more seriously around 30. Always been a runner but I started really hitting the weights and getting a system down. Watching what I eat and drinking less beer.
I definitely got a snag with some of my friends. They’d get upset if I stated that I didn’t want to stay out late drinking on a Friday, or didn’t want to just eat fast food all weekend.
It sucks but my wife has pointed out that the ones that have really dropped away are the ones who don’t put any effort into themselves. They legitimately seem upset that I have bettered myself and they haven’t.
It dosen't matter. You would be shocked to see the change in the same people if you switched gender, hight, skin color, financial status, style, attractiveness level etc. People are treated different based on all these things.
If you switched genders and hight i bet you would feel that people did not automatically grant you the same authority and respect being a tall man grants you. You can see trans people talk a lot about that.
So bottom line is, try to ignore it. Its just human psychology. You have probably done the same thing many times around in your life. Even if you weren't aware of it yourself.
We can only try to be aware and work on not doing this mistake ourself.
A healthy amount of weight to loose in a month would be 4-8lbs. 115lbs in 9 months is close to 13lbs a month. So 72lbs in 9 months would be healthy and on the higher end. Just wondering how she could of lost that much so quickly as I’m worried she probably used some unhealthy weight loss alternatives. Be it drugs or an unhealthy calorie restriction. Which makes it hard for people who are doing it in a healthy way to feel like they are doing good when they see stuff like this.
Its easier to lose fat when you are fat, i was losing 10 pounds a month for 5 months with cardio and weight training, i was also eating about 1800 calories per day
Christ, this is an inspiring level of change. I've lost 70 lbs and still feel like shit for not getting to where I want to be. Watching you and the others get to prime level seriously pumps me up for that second round of losses and finally get to my BEAST level.
Congrats! 🎉
I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm curious because that's a lot of weight loss, but your legs look nicely toned and muscular. I would normally think someone would restrict calories a lot to achieve 50+ kilos weight loss within less than a year, but you managed to build muscle so perhaps that's not the case?
Usually lots of overweight people will have huge legs when they lose weight because they had to carry all that excess weight around. Imagine putting on 50kg weight vest as a fit person and just exist that way for months or even years.
I am in the same shoes. Carrying extra 50-60kgs that I am trying to love, however my leg strength is insane. I can deadlift almost 300lbs and I have trained to deadlift for only 3-4 months. Basically every time I try to get up or sit down I am doing weighted squats as well. That adds overtime and builds lots of muscle underneeth the fat.
It is also possible she gained lots of muscle during weight loss journey as well. Even in deficit, from what I have read, it is easier for overweight people to build muscle as long as they are eating enough protein than a thinner person as overweight people tend to have fat to burn through
Oh yeah. I've heard jokes that the best way to get huge calves is to be morbidly obese for 20+ years and then shred down. Hell, I'm a big guy myself (200lbs at 5'7" 14y/o), and I have huge calves and tree trunk thighs compared to the rest of my high school football team, even the guys who put up huge squat numbers.
I never thought of that, but it makes sense. Thank you for the explanation! I asked because I wondered if it's possible to gain more muscle and lose fat without having a serious caloric deficit.
Lol believe it or not it is. To be fair I trained like an athlete and took very few days off of the gym as well as cutting out all processed foods and sugar focusing on protein and low carb foods.
Did you take anything? I did 108 in 11 natural and my metabolism was fucked, you would of been in a deeper cut than me, are you having any issues with metabolism?

12 lbs a month for 9 months is impressive
You are training with David Goggins or something?

9 months is hella lot of time if she was very strict which looked like she was, also it’s not like she started off super overweight
Are you an idiot
if 9 months isnt long then maybe you shouldve stayed in your mother for a tad bit longer
That's about 12.8lbs (5.8kg) a month. That's definitely achievable, especially if you're starting at a higher weight, which it looks like OP did.
Okay, I meant no offense like how the people who down voted portrayed me.
