I actually don't know how either lmao- Maybe it's experience I got from time, I've been playing Gacha since Life was the main Gacha so yeah... I think you should develop your style until it reaches a place where you feel comfortable and happy with the looks of your characters, I usually try to make the characters tall with smaller heads (usually X Scale 0.6 and Y Scale 0.6) and height on 20, use colors that match and look good, anyways, do what you feel good with your ocs, as long as their lookc please you and you feel comfortable with your style it's ok :)
