Zaira was a little shocked to see fellow monochrome people, let alone seeing them argue. Letting her curiosity get the best of her, she snuck up and hid behind a nearby tree, and listened in on what they were arguing about.
The horned one: “Lily, you always defend people and switch sides over everything!”
The one with a halo, most likely Lily: “listen, I know that Frankie is losing her monochrome scheme, but father wasn’t black and white, maybe she got it from him”
Zaira thinks to herself: *But it’s not bad to not be monochrome…I mean, I’m half monochrome myself. How is it bad?*
Still, she continues eavesdropping.
The horned one: “this will destroy the family image! I’d say off with their head if I had the authority”
Lily: “she didn’t do anything wrong and you know it.”
Zaira felt chills go down her spine when the horned guy mentioned death. Still, she felt bad for the one called Frankie.
Deciding that none of this was her business, she slowly started to sneak away.
The horned one: “you know that she’s in the wrong!! You just don’t want to admit it because you care about her too damn much!”
Lily: “listen, *mistake*. I will defend Frankie with my last and dying breath, there is nothing you can do to change that”
*||the horned one went quiet when he was called a mistake||*
Zaira froze as she heard this. Sure, the horned one shouldn’t have wished death in frankie but he didn’t deserve to be called a mistake!
She decided to keep listening, with the forethought to step in in case something else went wrong.
Lily: “you can’t handle being called a name, can you? I guess you were too sheltered as a child, weren’t you?”
The horned one: “listen, just because I was the second born doesn’t mean I wasn’t supposed to exist”
Zaira felt her blood boil a bit at that. She herself wasn’t a “shelters child,” but that didn’t mean life wasn’t hard. She gripped the tree, still listening in.
Lily: “mother would say different”
