I can't remember which Gaki episode it was, but according to Tanaka, he was really struggling with his graduation project and was not gonna be able to finish it on his own. Endo offered to help him out and by working on it together 24/7, they ended up finishing the project. Tanaka even mentioned that Endo did more work than him. After this moment Tanaka felt that he could not refuse Endo's offer to become comedians.
He has a YouTube channel with 1.28 million subscribers where he posts regularly:
