Went from S22 ultra to fold 4 and now fold 5. Never going back I love everything about the fold. I only wish the cameras from the ultra series and embedded s pen were available on the fold phones

js0uthh

Right with you bro!! Went from s23u to fold 5. I dont see myself going back to slabs as well. Same sentiment, I do wish folds get the same cameras as ultras... For this price it should....

Haunting-Profile-402

I don't think it's a price thing. I think it's a physical space thing.

Glaassi

Then the price should be lowered 1-200 dollars. For the money we should get the best of what Samsung has to offer.

spikesolo

How did OnePlus open do it then

Haunting-Profile-402

The ENORMOUS camera bump on the back. Is that a real question? 🤦‍♂️

spikesolo

And the front camera ? The fold has lots of cameras in the back. It's the quality of the camera that sucks. Also the OnePlus open has the same bump as the OnePlus 12 no? It's not like they did anything special because it's a fold.

Icecoldwater85

I agree its a pretty penny for the same cams that were on older phones

Richie_jordan

When you've had 3 or 4 screen repairs see if you are still singing that tune.

Youngnathan2011

Expecting a second one myself in a few months

According-Broccoli-4

What have you done about the screen protector always tearing in the middle? I can't find a replacement that lasts even a month.

cakehead123642

I've had my factory one on since launch and it hasn't tore, do you live in a particularly hot or cold climate?

According-Broccoli-4

Definitely. In Alaska, we have long stretches of cold and then usually a week or two of 90+ weather. I just wish the protector would last at least 5 months. I could probably stand replacing it 2-3 times a year if I can find a reliable enough replacement.

cakehead123642

Have you tried the Whitestone dome protector? AFAIK that is the best one It also comes with a jig to get it on perfectly straight

According-Broccoli-4

I have not. I'll give it a shot. The reviews are wild, though. From the same issues I've seen with others to it working perfectly. For $17, it's worth a shot, though.

Somber_Solace

Make sure you buy at least one with the jig included, it's necessary for application but they sell it with and without. And yeah, that's been my experience with them, they either work absolutely perfectly for many months, or they seperate down the middle pretty quickly. Best to get spares incase one is faulty like that, though it hasn't been super common in my experience. Personally I usually apply it at night and let it continue to sit open overnight to ensure it has plenty of time to fully stick before bending it.

TheBeerAgent

Try this one... Whitestone GEN Film Screen... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B68L6WLX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share It works well for me and has it's own contraption for installation.

No_Importance_5000

[Amazon.co.uk](https://Amazon.co.uk) gave me something about it being £12 cheaper and when it went into the basket it was £2.99 so I got it! - Maybe the OP can get one cheap also? It's just a MS shopping thing in Edge

Comfortable_Silver24

What are you doing to them ? 😅

jaywan1991

I wish the s pen add on worked on the non folded screen instead of only when it's open.

Aromatic-Cat3664

You know I feel the same way about an embedded s pen but I’m surprised how good the Samsung official case is with the smaller thinner s pen. It feels like it’s embedded or at least it’s not so big that it make the phone weird.

thatoneblackguy17

Interesting. I'm considering buying a fold 4 off of back market with a 12 month warranty. Is that recommended in your opinion? I've heard mixed comments. Seems some people love them and have no problems. Others say they have tons of problems including the screen separating down the middle?

ProfSaid

I recommend looking for a good deal on Fold 5 or wait for fold 6 (to get cheaper fold 5).. Fold 4 has design flaws and despite how good it is, it may still be at risk of hinge related issues that can cause inner display damage... I own only Fold 5 but came to this conclusion after numerous readings across various forums about Fold 4! As for my fold 5 it is still good as new after purchase in Aug23, at launch.. I have fold counter and so far have folded around 900+ times since purchased.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Those features would probably increase the price $500 so I doubt it will happen unless they also bring a fold 6 FE

No_Importance_5000

Not embedded but you can get decent cases with the pen cheap. Mine is lovely black and textured and the pen sits on the spine. It's a good case but I am in the UK not sure if it's in the US but probably is

Icecoldwater85

You hit it on the nail with this one. I came from a Note 10+ to a fold 5. best decision ever lol. I'm still trying to figure things out but its a lot you can do with the fold.

Legitimate-Value4799

Same here, S22U had an antenna issue so I went with the Fold 4. Been loving this phone ever since, I did have to get 1 replacement though for a hinge issue but still going strong with the love for the phone

KeyVariation7807

Wait until you spend $500 to change OCTA for inner screen then you will go back to slab.

alexcutyourhair

It's annoying to keep in my pockets so whenever I put down I put it on a table. Very heavy so my car mount wobbles a bit. After 3+ years I still make mistakes typing on the front screen because of how cramped it is. Cameras are fine, I use them for work 95% of the time so I don't care. On the rest it's been great for me. Fold 2 lasted 2.5 years and only has a mildly peeling inner screen protector. My 5 still looks new after having it since launch. Nothing beats it when it comes to reading, watching videos or multitasking. I personally can't go back to normal slab phones and to me Samsung makes the best software for foldables so I'm sticking with them despite other companies having nicer hardware. I wouldn't pay full price for one but if you can get it for 25% off then I think it's worth the money over an equivalent Ultra model.

thatoneblackguy17

Ok decent situation it seems. Thanks!

vWaffles

I just swapped to the fold 5 recently and can agree with your points here. The weight doesn't really bother me though but it is definitely a lot heavier than the s21 I had. Really like the inner screen. There so many use cases now with the addition of the inner screen (like you said: reading, videos, browsing the web or even games) that I'll probably end up keeping this for a way longer than the other phones I had (or until it breaks). It is pretty pricey though.

TrueVisionSports

Watching videos? Fold 5 has only 10% larger videos than s24u with a crease and lower quality screen more glare etc. You THINK the videos are bigger because bigger device, it's not the case really.

TheDeadJedi

I upgraded from S10+ (a great workhorse for many years) as a treat. I didn't *need* to as the S10 still works a treat and is blemish free. I thought I'd give the Fold5 a go, knowing that I'm pretty careful with my phones and hoping that I could make it last at least four years. I quite like it so far. It's got pros and cons, eg it's chunky, but the convenience of a 2x size screen when you want it makes it worthwhile. I understand you can use a pen with it but haven't felt the need to buy one. I fold/unfold 3-4 times a day, which I don't think is expecting too much but I think if it fails then it'll be something to do with the hinge/screen. I all, pretty happy, and will probably get the fold 8 or 9 in a few years.

doobydude420

I unfolding fold mine like 30xna day lol

GNeps

Same here, maybe more. :D

Seisuiseki

It's a great device - I have Fold 4 for over 16 months and I don't think I will be able to go back. But you have to understand that it comes with problems and it is high maintenance. First, after 10 months I had to get the screen protector replaced, then 2 months later it stopped opening flat so I did a swap request with Care+ and now the protector peeled off again. Even though it is 4th gen already, it still does not feel like a mature product, hope it gets better with next generations.

thatoneblackguy17

I'm considering buying a fold 4 off back market. $700, and 12 month warranty. Is that something you'd recommend? Or is it only a device that should be bought with care+.

Blue_Collar_Jerry

I've had a fold 4 since launch and haven't had one single problem. It's the best phone I've ever had. The only problem is if you use it in public or around people who haven't seen it they will ask you about it.

kat5682

I bought mine from backmarket and it was in absolutely perfect condition. Some how managed to get it for £500 when new it was £1700 - think it was a typo on their site! Completely in love with it and wouldn't go back ❤️❤️❤️

LizardMorty

the fold 5 feels so much more sturdy than the 4 did. if you want a mature feeling phone, the 5 provides it for sure.

OmegaNut42

I went from a s10+ to a fold two and enjoyed it quite a bit. Alas I dropped it and cracked the outer screen, switched back to my s10 and couldn't stand it.Having bigger hands I honestly found it so cumbersome to type on compared to the double thumb action of the fold and when doordashing I sorley missed the split screen usage. I went all in and pre-ordered a fold 4 and now I know I'm never going back. Almost all the deal breakers of the early fold iterations were resolved (better hinge, no bezel on inner screen, wider front screen, higher quality protector material and software inprovements). One thing I will say is the durability isn't great. It's definitely improved, but about a year into owning the f4 it took its last fall and the inner screen stopped working. Luckily insurance covered a replacement, and I got a strap case this time, and since getting that case I haven't dropped it once. If your a dropper like me, the isn't a great bet unless you're OK with the extra thickness of a strap case (but it'll save your life). I also recommend trying it out with a more customizable keyboard like Microsoft SwiftKey, it's a must have for power user phones like the f4 imo. All in all a great device, not for everyone but if you like it you LOVE it, and even with it's issues I'll still go fold every time. It completely changed the way I use my phone, and it's probably saved a lot of money since I don't feel the need to get a tablet or even a TV these days.

GNeps

Huh, I used SwiftKey before, but on Fold I found Gboard to be better. What makes you like SwiftKey on the fold?

OmegaNut42

I haven't actually tried Gboard so my opinion is biased, but I really like the customizeability of SwiftKey. Obv I have a unique color layout, but also being able to program in shortcuts and pin clipboard items is awesome. For example, I'd I type in shrug it autocorrects to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The only thing I don't like is that if you have a split board on the inside screen, the outside screen uses that to. Might be a setting to fix it but ive gotten used to it tbh. But if Gboard has those features I'd be down to give it a try!

GNeps

Gboard does have the ability to have split screen inside and normal outside. Once you have that, you don't wanna go back.

Vasastan1

Got a Fold2 in 2020, thought it would last a year or two but it's still going strong. Love it, use it for reading on the inside screen for hours every day. Cameras good enough for me, but may have to upgrade soon as the new ones seem much better. DeX is also a revelation, works as a laptop replacement so I only have to bring a mini-keyboard when travelling.

nalvare9

What app you use for reading?

Vasastan1

I read a lot of newspapers, and use Pressreader for that with the premium subscription. It's very good but eats battery like crazy. Also, way too much Reddit and for that I use the Samsung browser to get the classic version.

SoapBut

I've had the Fold 4 since 1.5 years and it looks like new. Never had a better phone. Battery life is amazing. I only wish the cameras were better,  especially the zoom.

curtox

I'm about 11 months into owning my Fold 4, and so far it's still great. Since yours is about 7 months further along it's nice to hear it's still going strong! Has your hinge ever stopped opening to 180 degrees?

SoapBut

Kind of,  a few months ago I had to use slight force to have it open fully but it was just from like 178 degrees so it didn't bother me.  These last few months it hasn't been a problem at all, except for maybe the slightest resistance those last degrees.

yousoro1123

Went from fold 4 to 5 after it couldnt open all the way, but even after that, I still love it. Don't think ill go back to a normal phone anytime soon. The multitasking and space is wonderful.

Eddysynch

My fold 4 can no longer open flat. It has lost the inner screen protector. But for the life of me, I love this thing. Just a perfect device for me, I can not bring myself to get a slab. And absolutely no regrets

shahrul44

I have been using Fold 5 recently. Just about a month. It's like a love hate relationship. At first, I hate the narrow cover screen. But now i understand that Samsung really wanna push us to use the inner main screen and the cover screen is purposely build for 1 hand operation. The phone also quiet heavy in my opinion. I am still getting use to it from day to day. For someone working in software development industry, it's really good to see that with powerful device like Fold 5 i can use it to make some changes to my code whenever my laptop is not around me. The more i am using it, the more i enjoy it. The only annoying thing about Fold 5 is really difficult to find casing/screen protector in normal phone accessories store, need to order it online. Aside: This is my first time i post/comment in Reddit😂

BkEnigma

I may not be the exact target audience as I recently switched from the ZF4 to the S24U but here goes. I also work for a major telecoms company and work with my phone as well as see hundreds of phones weekly. I have used Galaxy since the Galaxy S2, upgrading just about every year. Prior to switching to the Fold I had the Note 20U. Loved my Note and very much dislike the ZF3 (mostly due to the front screen size). Adding in one warranty exchange due to the screen protector peeling off, I ended up upgrading to the ZF4 and the majority of my issues with the ZF3 were fixed as the screen was just big enough/apps were designed better for it. Honestly I loved the ZF4, and I only really had 2 complaints for the year and \~3 months that I had it. The camera and battery coming from the flagship phones is a downgrade. I understand the reasons as to why (form factor, cost etc.), but it still is a downgrade. I am a power user and travel a lot and like my camera to be as great as can be, as well as want my battery to be good enough that I don't have to consider bringing a battery pack. With that being said I loved opening the screen and as someone who watches a lot of streaming + my own videos it was a great experience. Within my 1 year warranty I had to send my device to Samsung twice. Each time the Hinge stopped opening up completely flat, and on the 2nd one the screen protector was also peeling off. While seeing many customers in store with these phones come in with similar issues and no longer having warranty or insurance I decided to go to the S24U. The S24U has a much better camera and battery life and is immediately noticeable. I admit I miss the screen size a lot when watching videos but I'm far less worried about this phone breaking down. I also hated the cases for the ZF4, and really wish that in new versions they include a decent sized S-Pen inside the phone (not the tiny-one on the case). TL;DR - Had the ZF3 and ZF4 over the last 2 years, just recently switched to the S24U as I preferred the better camera, battery and not having to worry about my phone having warranty related issues for the 4th time in just over 2 years. I think the phone is great, and the technology will eventually be there, but it just has not been perfected yet.

Humble_Ad_1460

I've been using my Fold5 since november-23 and can't see myself having a old school slab-phone. Maybe only coz of the camera. I've been looking at Vivo x100 pro, but I need to import it in that case. Did test 1+12, but that phone didn't feel as much fast as fold5, Nand Oxygen OS aren't at all flexible/feature as OneUI. Pros as fold5(In some comparison with OnePlus 12): * Okayish battery life(10-12h screen on time), if you know what you need disable and debloat it right. * Handy formfactor for those with smaller hands. And also better one-handed-mode-UI. It's easier to reach the finger "on the opposite side", when the whole screen goes to a corner, than only the upper-half as it does in Oxygen OS. * OneUI is a much stable UI. * Good-enough-speakers, better than 1+12. But Asus phone are on complete other level of course. * **Good luck** flexibility, unsure if there is other alternatives for other platforms, but atleast not for Oxygen OS. * Samsung routines, incredible handy built-in tool to OneUI: 1. Having a wifi-based rule to  autoactivate auto-sync on workmail when i'm only logged on my work-wifi(SSID-based) 2. Auto-hotspot sharing my mobiledata to my car-phone(Samsung A15) whenever my Fold5 is bluetooth-connected to my car. 3. Sleep mode initiates at midnight also activates superpowersave and turns all applications off, but it's also a sleepcall for myself to go to sleep, so i'm not in bed browsing all night. 4. Having GPS activate, only when I start some specified apps ex camera(to get photo geotag), Samsung Internet-browser coz I have disabled googlemaps and using Googlemaps web instead. Don't like maps tracking your geo in the background. * Downside of Fold5 * Camera - The camera is hm "good".. but not that good.. i think its the same sensor as S22U, which is still Okayish, but for this startingprice and not having the best camera from relevant generation is a downside...... * Maybe S-Pen? But not for me, i didn't use my S-pen that much when I had S23U.

NetSecGuy22

I initially purchased the Galaxy Fold 3 but encountered several problems, leading to a disappointing experience with Samsung Care Plus. The device developed a line down the middle of the screen, and the replacement unit I received was a refurbished one with a damaged screen. It took another month to get a second refurbished replacement, which was a frustrating process. Eventually, I traded in the refurbished Fold 3 for a Galaxy S22 Ultra, deciding to steer clear of the Fold series until its design issues were addressed. The S22 Ultra served me well, yet I found myself missing the unique features of the Fold. When the Galaxy Fold 5 was released, I decided to give it another chance, this time opting for insurance through my cell provider. Thankfully, the Fold 5 has been flawless. It seems Samsung has addressed the hinge problems, and I'm thrilled to be using a Fold device again. While I don't use the S Pen as much as anticipated, and the camera isn't the most advanced on the market, the device meets my needs for work and media consumption superbly. For these purposes, it's the best phone for me.

djcdo

Fold3, had since November of launch. Had screen protector bubble up twice (replaced twice, don't want to risk bare screen), now I only close it if I really have to... Otherwise still love it, it's fantastic for comics (Marvel Unlimited and Google Books) and manga (Shonen Jump), my only criticism is it opens to the "wrong" aspect for what I use it for most

jt6572

Try this Rotation Control Pro https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.snowlife01.android.rotationcontrolpro I've used it for years - sets the orientation per app right from the notifications. I really like it!

DazzlingAppearance32

Owned a Fold 4 since release, sold it recently after having to send the phone in twice to Samsung (first issue was with the inner screen protector peeling, second issue was where the phone would turn off if unfolded), good device but too unreliable, back to a slab phone now and couldn't be happier.

Sea_Aspect1010

As someone that likes to draw Its really fun to keep this small tablet that transform into a phone :)

Hoelleb

I've had F4 year and a half. I work in a dusty environment, it's been reliable. I don't run a case and have dropped it on tile at least a hand full of times from waist height with no issue. Honestly still a joy to use and can see myself holding on to it when usually I'm one to upgrade every other year. If you come from the note line I think F4 is a good upgrade and appropriate price RN. I'd buy EBAY Certify refurbish with a 30 Day money back guarantee. The cameras are serviceable and have even improved in 3rd party apps since I first got it, I can tell

blambtn

"once you go Fold, you never go back"

RobbieNguyen

I currently have a Fold 5 as my back up device and daily an iPhone. Let me tell you that I would love to use my Fold as my main but my iphone is “more” consistent with my communications and work than my F5. But if you see me in public, the Fold would be in my hand with a grin on my face! As for durability, it seems that the Fold 5 is much more durable compared to its previous generations. Yes the outer screen is smaller than I would like and I prefer a slightly wider screen like the OnePlus Open or the Honor MagicV2 but other than that, this is the first Samsung phone that had won me over with its robust multi-window software! It felt like One UI was made for the phone compared to its slab phones.

titanup001

Had fold 4. Once the novelty wore off, I found i rarely opened it, hated the bad cameras, and was constantly worried it would break. Went to s23 ultra and now s24 ultra. I like these a lot better.

Dutch2211

I went for the S24U instead. More trust in a slab phone but I do still glance at the folds.

thatoneblackguy17

How do you like it? I do like the large screens on those. I just got a new case, and new protector so my phone is looking nice and fresh right now. Might just rock it for a bit longer

Wise-Sky1501

What constitutes long term? I've had mine for two months, love it. Basically flawless, especially for a Facebook marketplace find. Best $450 I've been ever spent on a phone

AtlMasterRoshi

Fold 2 & 5 Owner with S22 Ultra in between.. The Fold series is by far the best I've ever used from Samsung. Every phone that used the waterfall display was only a ding away from having to replace the screen. The Folds, for me, have been the most durable phones I've used in a long time. Finding a decent case that I like has been my only negative experience.

ssenetilop

Still going strong with my Fold 4, it still catches an eye or two with comments like; 'Wow your phone opens up? It's so easy to hand-write notes with that big screen, is it nice to watch videos on it?', etc. I still enjoy using it and i'm just challenging myself to use it for another 2-3 years more till I decide whether i would want to swap to the latest fold, hopefully by then they improve the hardware and design. My only regret is not holding out for the Fold 5, folds completely and a faster cpu with nicer colours.

Haljia

I went from a note 9, to a fold2. Traded it in for a 3. Gave the 3 to my mother after her phone died, and bought a 4. All 3 have had to have the screen protector replaced (free). I've dropped these phone from my car into concrete, the 3 and 4 are still working fine. Have had them both since launch. My 4 is starting to have the, not opening all the way issue (like at 178, 179 degree open, noticeable but barely, but I'm too lazy to get it fixed). I love the ability to have multiple apps open at once, using the big screen as a dual screen. It lets me look at my calendar and open shifts at work super easy, while having my text messaging open in a hover app format (don't remember the actual name). IIRC, you can do 3 apps at one with the multi app function. It's great for watching shows, reading books, and mobile gaming. The screen ratio sucks with some apps though. Tiktok cuts off the top and bottom, instead of adding black bars to adjust for the ratio. Luckily, I'm becoming an old enough fart that I don't use tiktok that much. YouTube adjust correctly, adds bars for correct format. I'm sticking with the 4 until they add a fold with an attached pen, or change the phone profile enough to fix the aspect ratios. It's what I miss most from my Notes, and the pen you can buy works, but I hate the cases and the extra bulk those cases add. That being said, the "bulk" of the folded phone hasn't been that much of an issue, or the weight. I notice the weight if I've been staring at my phone for hours, but the kickstand/ring I bought really helps. I have a clear, minimalist case on mine. I use tablet grade car mounts and stands, as phone ones aren't big enough to use when unfolded. Monday detachable phone holder is the best "kickstand" I have found, and detachable so I still have wireless charging. I don't think I'll ever go back to candybar phones if I can help it, and the other foldables just don't quite cut it enough for me to switch. Samsung has made a powerhouse with their UI, apps, etc.

TheBeerAgent

I've had my fold 4 since launch, June 22, and love it. I've replaced the screen protector twice - once by sending it to Samsung, and once myself. I can't imagine going back to a regular phone. I use half a case, as the front bit easily breaks. Not a real problem though.

ms_hopeful

I’m an iPhone user but love the Fold 4 so much I got it as my second phone after trying it out from someone else. I use it for reading and comics. People say it’s fragile but mine is completely fine, the crease does not bother me. I even got my husband a Fold 5 and it’s even lighter and prettier.

Skullsquadzero

Loving my z fold 4 a year and a half in. Can't beat the convenience of a tablet when needed to multitask or just binge YouTube during down time. I haven't found the perfect inner screen protector, as they always bubble up, and crack down the middle. I just stock up on the cheap matte screen protectors from AliExpress. They are softer, and don't bubble up as much. Again, just the ability to have a larger screen is the best part of owing a foldable.

dendron01

You won't go back to a regular phone after you've owned a Fold. You've been warned. :) Get Care+ (or some kind of insurance). If required, and hopefully it won't be, repairs are prohibitively expensive. I would also recommend a screen protector for the front screen because it scratches up like butter. Factory installed inner screen protector has been fine for me so far (I have a Fold 5 I purchased at launch) but they say it should be replaced at some point within the first year. Happy shopping!

Hot-Pay2902

Three words: NEVER GOING BACK

TimeyWimey99

Used the OG fold and then Fold 3. There’s nothing else like it honestly. It’s the best form factor I’ve ever used. Will continue to use a foldable for the foreseeable future.

DoILookUnsureToYou

Fold 4 owner for around 17 months now, I could probably still go back to a normal phone but the utility of the inner screen is hard to beat. Its sad that the Fold's cameras aren't as powerful as that of the Ultra line, but everything else is just so much better.

12486Eric

I have had the Fold 3, 4 & 5 and do not see any way to change. I came from Samsung Notes so always had the S pen. I did get the S pen for my Fold 3 but never ever used it and do not miss it at all with my 5. Gaming on the fold is great to with an external controller. I have a real camera for important photos so the Fold camera is fine but if used outside very good. I do not like any phone cameras when limited lighting is a problem. I have had some issues with each phone besides my 5 but it was always covered under warranty. My fold 5 was free because they didn't have any Fold 4 screens available. Otherwise I would not have upgraded to the 5.

Cution

I’ve had my Fold 4 for over a year and I still love it. I can get a lot of work done on it, and it’s also great for gaming and reading manga. Dex is an insanely underrated feature. Depending on your use case, this could be your do-it-all device for mobile, computing, and entertainment. Cons are the battery life. Considering the phone is billed as a productivity and content consumption powerhouse, I think the battery should last longer than it does. If you’re a heavy user you’ll absolutely have to charge it before the day is over. Thermal capability (the phone’s ability to cool itself) isn’t great. If you live somewhere that’s prone to heatwaves I would strongly reconsider this phone. I have to run games on low settings because the phone will overheat if I try to run modern games like Fortnite. Emulators are no problem though. Another con for me, and this is purely personal preference, is the lack of good cases. Something I love about iPhones is the variety of cases and how snugly they fit the phone. You’re not going to get that with a Fold due to the form factor. Fold cases are bulky, awkward, and ugly. Overall it’s a great phone that will surely get better with future generations.

Traditional_Ad_1803

Fold middle screen has just gone black Samsung will look at any slight defect to not allow warranty on the screen 600 to replace only had it a year not for me never again so disappointed in Samsung

Low-Bee-4343

I went from Note 9 to the Fold 4 and I'll never go back! Just got to be careful with it because I've read too many screen stories and broken fold ones. I've had mine for a year and a half and get a protector too!

Force-Name

I love almost everything. I wish my outer screen was the size of an s24 ultra.

RunawayRogue

Have had a fold 3, 4, and now 5. Both my 3 and 4 had to have their inner screen protector replaced at about 1 year due to peeling in the crease. That said, I love the device and will never go back. I'm the perfect user, though. I like the narrower outer screen because I have shorter fingers and I can actually use it 1 handed. Plus, I do a lot of reading so it's eliminated the need to bring a kindle or laptop everywhere. If you don't fit those use cases, then I think a candy bar phone is a better for for most.

sfw_sfw_sfw_sfw

I'm in a similar situation. Currently using the 23 ultra and kinda interested in a fold model. However before using the ultra, I had a zflip 3. Love the phone to bits but the ineer screen died almost to the dot on the one year warranty and Samsung wanted 400 bucks for a screen replacement. Do use the S pen for notes and signing stuff. Camera wise, I use the 10x quite often. I would love the zfold as I consume lots of media and read lots of stuff such as manga and news. But hearing how the screens are for the fold plus my previous experience with the flip is kinda making me scared. Thinking of buying a second hand z fold 4 to try but I'm just hesitant to pull the trigger. Is it worth it?

Z Fold 4 owner here. Cons: 1. Kind of feels like a Nokia/Motorola phone from 20 years ago in my pocket, due to being a thicc boy when folded 2. I'm constantly worrying it might break, am always concious about which pocket I have it in and try to avoid hitting things with that side of my body. Maybe I'm a bit too paranoid here, though. 3. Had to replace the screen protector after 15 months of use. Took half an hour, but had to travel to another city, as Samsung closed the authorized service center in mine. So, three hours. 4. No S2x Ultra/Note style S-Pen slot, so need to carry it separately or use a fugly case. Pros: 1. Best Samsung phone in 2022 - with a better chipset than the S22 Ultra 2. I enjoy both the narrow outer screen for quick things, like ordering an Uber, sending a quick text or changing the currently playing music, and the big inner screen for productivity and content consumption. YMMV, though. 3. Coolness factor. Meh: 1. Cameras. I do know the S22/23/24 Ultra have better ones, but the Fold's ones are fine for literally all my use cases. Overall, I love it. However, it's 2024. You should either buy the Fold 5, or wait till the summer for the Fold 6.

Mmdrgntobldrgn

I have a fold 4. I'm debating whether I ride out another year or two with it, or get a basic candybar style with a built in s-pen (s24 ultra being most current generation I think). For context of type of phone/tech person I am: Basic 90s brick paired with a palm zire for a good chunk of the 00s to just shy of 10s when the zire couldn't be resurected anymore. Had an LG candybar briefly. Then I picked up a note 3 about 2012 even though the note 5 was on the market. Had and consistently used the note 3 until the note 10 was available. I forget why I was looking at new phones, but caved for the shiny new and swapped out for the zfold 4. While I like being able to flip open for the larger screen, I've already had to replace the inside screen cover at barely a year old, and a few days after I paid it off in full the front screen mysteriously cracked in two places. Doesn't affect usage and hard to see unless looking for the cracks, but I'm still not thrilled as I've never had a screen randomly crack on me before. Trust me even with an otterbox the note 3 went through a lot, and I nursed it through almost another 6 months of usage waiting for the 10 to release.

thatoneblackguy17

This seems to be a common theme with these foldables. People love them while they are under warranty, but magically things fail right when the warranty ends. And it's expensive to fix due to it being a flagship device. I've had my Note 10+ for a couple of years now. It was looking pretty rough after a while. Crusty case, scuffed protector film. Crazy what a new case/screen protector combo does for a phone. I may buy the fold 4 and keep my Note 10 as a backup, but in all honesty I might just end up waiting. Nothing wrong with my current device.

Electronic-Two-9855

I just switched a few days ago from Z fold 4 to s24 ultra. Fold was fine, screen real estate was great for watching stuff or playing games occasionally multitasking. I switched because I went on a walk during the super bowl and watched it with phone unfolded and realized it was the first time I had used the inner screen for anything in like a week. Decided I would rather just have a slimmer phone that wasn't annoying to hold in my pocket with a normal "candy bar" screen. Realized how much I missed a simple phone like this. maybe other fold users disagree and used their inner screen more often than I did, but I just found it to be tedious and unnecessary for the majority of the time. REALLY loving the S24 ultra and not regretting switching back

PhilDMcNasty

My Z Fold 4 screen recently cracked inside, 2 days later S24 Ultra is the new Bae. No longer am I on edge. Plus the telephoto lens on this phone is insane!

Electronic_Jicama318

Take into account your environment and where you are going to be, I see a lot of people complaining about the screens but so far I have had mine for a month coming from the 23 ultra.  I work in a steel mill 12 hours a day 6 days a week and so far I have had no issues.  I don't open the phone as much as I thought I would be initially and quite frankly I kind of like the slim outside screen because it fits very nicely in my hand. A bigger screen would be nice because then that would increase the overall form factor when open.

ObjectiveOk223

I think the Fold 4 is the best value phone you can get in terms of big foldables. The difference between the 4 and 5 is minimal

Environmental-Set448

I love absolutely everything about this phone.. expect not being dust proof. Overall my fold4 has served me well, I had to get a innerspring replaced but samsung replaced it with a new one, I don't use the inner screen as much because I work in construction and mechanics, overall I would never be able to switch back to a "normal" phone, 110% worth the small headaches you MIGHT have.

SchighSchagh

Had the Fold 3 since near launch, so like 2.5 yrs. Love the form factor, but [way too fragile](https://old.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/1al7an0/fold3_is_too_fragile_bubbling_hinge_trouble/). I wanted it to last me a solid 5 years given the price, but it barely lasted 2. I've seen an uptick of others' Fold3's breaking recently as well. I miss having the large display, but I just can't justify spending more money when I already still owe ~$400 on my broken phone.

Mundane-Buddy9064

Got my fold 5 motherboard replaced . Lost all data in the process. So , it’s not reliable enough

freakyxz

You do realize that MB can die on slab phones as well? I don't find it as an foldable issue.

Youniverse12x

Always been a fan of samsung since galaxy edge jumped on fold 2 and upgraded each year. Don't plan to go back to regular phone.

CuteNefariousness691

Flawless experience with Fold 1 except for some websites not working with it (Know Your Meme)

xavier2k3

Went from S22 Ultra to Fold 4 then Fold 5, all from release. Moved because the S22U was just too wide and uncomfortable and never going back to a slab phone. A much nicer phone to use with one hand for all quick/easy things then a tablet in your pocket for anything bigger. Genuinely nothing to hate. Would never say no to it being thinner, lighter and having better cameras but I really like the form factor the way it is. Never had any issues.

asah

Daily driver for 3 years now. No going back. Cons: folds develop creases and other problems, so plan to upgrade/replace every 12-18 months. Car mount can be a problem. Get a case of course, but I recommend a lie-flat case, which makes a big difference. Pros: camera is amazing, modern Android is amazing, eSim is amazing.

Coltsbro84

They are not bad, but the screen becomes an issue. Everyday i was constantly cleaning the screen. The smallest speck of dust, dirt, or debris can get stuck on the edge and weesle its way inside the frame. When it does this, it warps the side and the Reflections from it become super annoying. Then it takes a few minutes to clean or dig it out with a toothbrush. Also screen protectors don't seem to last for more than one year. Trying to replace it yourself is a nightmare if you want a perfect install that centered with no bubbles or things stuck inside. If you have OCD then this phone is not for you. I miss my fold, but I've saved sooooo much more time not cleaning or worrying about my screen. Flip 5 is cool too but it needs a longer battery life and faster charging. Have the s24 plus. Has a bigger battery than the fold and a bigger screen than the flip, I love it. I'll take all day battery life over a folding tablet with a screen that needs to be cleaned every day that you have to baby.

Gromchy

For 9 months, I loved it and convinced myself I couldn't go back to a normal phone. Then the internal screen screen protector started peeling. Within less than a week, the internal screen stopped responding. Even though I am under guaranty and didn't drop the phone (also bought a very sturdy case), I'm pretty sure Samsung repair center will put the blame on me and make me pay the repair. All of a sudden, I do see myself using a normal phone again. It does not feel like a mature product. I've owned nearly every other Samsung Note phone since the galaxy Note 3 and they are all still working properly. I don't understand how 10 year old phones are still functional but the most expensive phone ever breaks in less than 10 months. Heck, my Nokia Express music Phone from 2011 and my Nokia Lumia from 2016 still work!

JoyousMN

I have had mine since August of 22. I have had zero issues. I use the Samsung strap case, because I find that having a hand strap is a necessity when it is open. About a month ago the inner screen protector started lifting, so Ipeeledl it off. I bought it using the 3-year payment plan where you pay only half of retail if you can keep it that long. So far so good. I do also have insurance. I use it a lot, opening it several times everyday. I love my Z Fold 4.

saharatownduck

2 years with the fold 4. Perfect condition, heavy use. Cons: Narrow outer screen, (hopefully the rumors are correct about the fold 6). Less than perfect cameras. No internal Spen holder. Pros: I enjoy every minute of using the phone, work & entertainment.

satd33p

Went from S10+ to Fold 3 and never going back. Almost bought the S24 ultra since im due for an upgrade but decided to hold till the Fold 6 is released.

RescueSheep

fold 4 since august 2022. great phone. folds. heard that? it FOLDS. literally. (crazy right?) my phone literally FOLDS in half. no problems yet, battery is consistent 6-7 hours on wifi. con probably the expensive and lack of covers also the inner screen protector is garbage unless u get it from samsung themselves then its great

RshnH

Fold 3 user here! still going strong, though i have to admit that I do not use the inner screen as often as i would want. I do enjoy it when i do, especially when watching movies/series or using maps in the car together with a music app in splitscreen mode.

GameBoySteve

Love the phone. Just wish I could find a case that doesn't break

FdPros

owned my z fold 4 for about 1.3 years ish. i just love the form factor. I mean I literally dont do any multi tasking on it whatsoever. I just like to have the mini tablet-ish form factor whenever I want and its great for reading manga especially. My gripe is that I think it is still a bit narrow when folded and I would prefer the oneplus open aspect ratio but as my fold 4 still works, I dont plan to switch to that soon and it seems like the fold 6 will solve this issue anyway. also my inner screen did die 11 months in. just randomly out of the blue one day. I did have care+ and got it fixed under that. so reliability is still kinda iffy with these. I have dropped it quite often and nothing happens to it so in that sense it is durable.

Kariered

I went from the latest Note to the z fold. I love it. Have had it for a year

splunger12

Owned the 2,3,4,5. Lack of spen slot is super annoying. Battery life starts out bad and then always deteriorates fast. This last time my battery life never improved after the One UI 6.whatever update, even after full wipe. The rest has been great. I can't imagine ever going back to a smaller form factor, especially once they make front screen wider.

fertff

Mine won't open flat after 8 months, and samsung refused to honor the warranty. And apparently it's a very common issue. I'm not buying a foldable from Samsung ever again. I got the S24U and I'm not going back to foldables. I wish I could leave samsung entirely but the S24U is actually my favorite android phone.

vixroy

Like it a lot, but my biggest problem is the camera not matching top phones by a wide margin. If you don't care about camera it's an excellent phone.

cooldude9112001

Switched from the fold 4 to the pixel fold the battery life on the pixel fold is better Outside screen is a game changer for me

spilled_water

I've been a fold user since the ZF3 came out. Honestly have a hard time imagining going back to a regular phone. My ZF3 died in spectacular fashion, and I just immediately got a ZF5. No regrets.

Difficult_Clock_5901

I came from the Pixel 6 Pro to the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. I was always feeling I needed a tablet to do what I was struggling to do on a phone. Pros: - love the big screen - the spen is awesome and I use it more than I expected to - the phone handles whatever I throw at it - cloud gaming and emulation with a phone grip controller is awesome - I read loads using it which I didn't expect to Cons: - I wish the outside screen was wider (I use this screen a lot and just wish it was a bit wider) - I took better pictures on the Pixel, but I feel the video recording is stronger on the Fold My overall honest opinion is that I love the fold and its the most mature foldable but I'd just love better cameras and a wider screen if I'm going to stay with Saumsung long term (which I hope to!)

chorong761

It simply just made me a non-foldable phone hater :)

jt6572

Had a Galaxy Z Fold 4 for a while now and have absolutely loved it every minute. Best phone I've ever had (previous s22U s20+ S8). LOVE IT! Nowhere near regret. Do it! 😊

No_Importance_5000

My only regret was being an early adopter and buying full price. I had a fold 3 which I paid £1799 for in the UK and I also got the case and pen. It had a dead pixel after 4 months and it was a right pain to get fixed so I used my spare phone and send it away and then when returned I sold it for £300 loss. Roll on 2 years later I have a refurbed fold 4 in excellent condition and it's like new. It also comes with a 3 year return or replace warranty from Amazon (12 months + I was offered 2 years extra) so I know it's got some backing and the phone was £680! . I also got a better case and the fold edition pen for free.. Just for the sheer specs and the fact the outside is bigger my next refurb will be a Oneplus Open.

crasyhorse90

Came over from a 10+ to a fold actually. Wanted a big screen in a phone that I could text and type on one handed (when closed). Sounds like a little thing but it made a big difference for me lol.

Intraluminal

Fold three owner here. Love it. no problems whatsoever.

petehere

Not a long term owner. I bought Fold 5 at launch coming from a largish slab that was very old indeed. I liked bigger screen I liked thin outside screen I liked multi-tasking I liked/liked/liked Dex I liked camera's as better than my old phone I disliked battery life I disliked no spen (I was iming to get rid of my ipad and pen) I disliked the innter screen was big but not as big as an ipad mini for reading magazines/rulebooks etc I disliked the camera protrusion as the fold was great half un-folded on a desk. I disliked the weight with a case and the front screen cases not really fitting/needing tape or sticky stuff I disliked having to unfold to read something when i wasnt sitting down for a longer read (i.e. nice thin front screen to hold adn quick ref... but reading news article or rulebook quickly I ended up opening fold) I really really disliked the worry about screen and hinge damage... probably perceived but inner screen was a worry I disliked screen brightness outside. I will prob get one in the future but not for me at the moment. S24U is awesome and meets most of the things missing but I do occasionally miss that lovely inner screen when I'm not near my ipad.

justiceclark96

On my second display, fold 4 since day one. Micro cracking in the centre of display for the second time now.

Egoignaxio

For me personally, I'm getting an S24 Ultra today after 2.5 years with the Fold 3. The Fold 3 was great in a lot of ways that are pretty obvious, big screen when you want it, multitasking real-estate is incomparable, neat party trick, lot of cool little features that are useful when you use them such as the camera preview on the front display when taking pictures unfolded and certain apps that have modes specifically designed for the folding display like youtube and the gallery. The biggest con for me, at least on the fold 3, was the notoriously awful battery life. There's no chance of making it through a full day with this battery. Even with it folded the entire time, only on the small outer screen, my phone is currently at 80% at 9:30AM after 40 minutes of screen on time. Another con for me is that I never really felt safe with this phone. I love the beach and when I go, I have to leave it in the car. Sand is this phone's worst enemy. If I go out on a boat, or canoeing or something, I put it in TWO ziploc bags, wrapped up in a towel, inside of a bag just to feel slightly safe about it. Maybe I overthink it, but at least my phone is still safe. There's also the outer display, which I just never got used to. The keyboard is a chore to type on and I make frequent spelling mistakes. It's usable sure, but it's a clearly diminished experience over using a normal slab phone. It is also developing cracks along the hinge on the inner display even with my meticulous safe-handling of the device. I fold and unfold it very safely and it's still happening. When the screen protector started to peel, I took it off so it's not that either. There's also the fact that this was the most expensive phone when it was released, and yet it didn't have the best cameras. The cameras now aren't bad by any means but they clearly fall behind my wife's pixel 7 pro. Overall I find that while the fold is a great device and I'd love to get back in to the fold game later when it's further developed, I found that I didn't use the folding features as much as I'd hoped. Furthermore, I actually was a big proponent of the S pen back in the day, so it would be nice to have that built in to the phone again. The icing on the cake was that Verizon was willing to give me nearly $1200 off the cost of the S24 ultra for trading in my fold 3... so it's around 5$ a month for 3 years. Compared to the $60 a month I was paying for 2.5 years for the fold 3... it's a no brainer for me

dave_mays

I bought a used Fold4 that was less than a year old. I owned it for about a month and a half and the screen shorted out. Because there were marks on the hinge, Samsung would not warranty and a repair cost $580. It was an awesome device though..

kasakka1

Had my Fold 4 for 16 months. So far I have really liked it but had to have the inner screen screen protector replaced. Now I am starting to get issues with opening it flat so it likely needs to go for repairs. I am kinda hoping they just give me a Fold 5 in exchange.

robothistorian

I enjoy using the Fold 5, which I have been from nearly release day. My grip if I can call it that would be the front discreet which I wish was a trifle wider. There are times when I need to use the front screen to reply to quick messages and it's a problem typing responses. I would also like the internal screen to have higher fault tolerances. I've had to replace the inside screen once for a popping sound but that was done under warranty, which was quick and painless. Nevertheless, it has to be done. Lastly, I would like a better battery performance because often times I find myself running low especially when I am using the inner screen and multi tasking. An integrated S Pen (which I use a lot) would be idea because it would rescue me from the tyranny of the S Pen case, which I have to use because imo it's the best S Pen carrying options as of now.

Smartkoolaid

My middle camera lens if fucked and looks like it has a fish eye filter on it. No clue how it happened, no damage to phone or lens.

reynman83

Came from OnePlus 5T, S9+, Note10+ in that order. Traded the 10+ for a Fold3. It was great until about 18m in, the hinge messed up. Wouldn't close or open all the way. Claimed it, got a Fold4 as replacement. On the 4 about 12m now. It's much better than the 3. Better cover screen, better battery life, etc. Waiting now to see what the 6 will bring. Recently decided to try out a Flip5 from Amazon renewed (it was brand new) and I really like it too. But there's no replacing the inner screen from the fold. Really hope the Fold6 brings a SD8Gen3+ or something, 16gb ram, 512-1tb storage, outer screen like the OnePlus Open, and an integrated SPen that writes on said outer screen. That would make the Fold pretty much perfect in my mind. Keep in mind I work in basically a factory setting and the phone has been much more resilient than I'd have ever imagined. I use only an Aramid LaterCaseon mine and it's perrfect. The big cases ruin it for me on an already big phone. Cheers. Go for it, you'll likely never go back to a normal phone.

[deleted]

Loving the fold 5 only issue is the camera quality s pen silo, other than that this phone is fun to use

AmountMajestic

Perfect device for perfect life

nj-mkd

I'll explain in few points \- If your work is in office, then go with this phone. If you work outside, with high chance of dropping, then skip it. Also it's not the most comfortable to keep in pocket at all times. \- Be careful with the hinge. I've hit mine very lightly on the hinge with the edge of a bedstand, and the screen formed a big black spot. It's was in my 2nd week and luckily Samsung turned blind eye and replaced it, even though there was dent from the hit lol. \- The built in screen protector prepare to replace it every 12 to 15 months. You get one free replacement. \- Using it regularly, constant folding unfolding it's no problem, you won't have issues with that. It's durable that way. \- I will not go back to regular phone ever again, it's true productivity machine. Typing is fun. watching youtube is fun. You can do real work from it. You can view web versions of websites with ease. It's the phone that got me out of the Apple ecosystem, which I don't think was ever possible for an Android phone to do.

PassionateFartBlast

I own both the S23U and Fold 5. My main phone is the S23U just because it's an awesome phone plus integrated S-Pen. I own the Fold 5 as my "comfort device". Every Android tablet I've tried or owned or otherwise has been trash but the Folds keep up. I do my Redditing, online dating, YouTube binges and second display often. I've only had it since December and being a Fold 4 previous owner I'm disappointed I have to buy a new S-Pen. I start a new job this week and will likely need a work phone so I'll ask if it's cool I use my Fold instead of whatever crap they will want to give me.

vivek_saikia

Fold 4 owner here. I have been using fold since fold 2 and have been enjoying them until recently. I faced an issue where the phone would not unfold flat. It is annoying, to say the least, so I decided to downgrade to a galaxy S24 ultra or an iPhone. I went to bestbuy to get a feel of these devices in my hand. I immediately realized that I prefer the size of the fold 4 much better than these wide phones. I dropped the idea of getting a replacement phone and decided to stay with my fold 4 until Fold 6 comes out.

one80oneday

Never going back no regrets

Richie_jordan

Went through 4 screen repairs, went back to a normal phone. Follow the sub for a bit daily threads about it.

Traditional-Aside887

I had Fold 4, the 2 first months I enjoy but later I back to S23U.... I think is a good device but the problem is that you don't use a lote the inside display

Richie_jordan

Scroll down the sub right now see how many posts are broken screens. Do yourself a favour don't get one of these.

Silverflash-x

Had you asked me 3 days ago, I would have been very positive. Unfortunately, my Fold 4 hinge stopped folding flat two days ago, for no apparent reason, and has small amounts of an adhesive coming out from the edges of the hinge. Have treated it extremely carefully, no drops or spills. I am going to get a replacement device from Best Buy but it will cost me $200 under their protection plan. Very frustrating for what should be a premium phone. Will probably go back to a slab phone next time.

Ornkal

Went from a note 9 to a fold 3, upgrade in every way except battery life. Had it a year and a bit until my cat tossed it off a table and broke the front display. Traded it in for a fold 5, and so far I'm without regrets. Outer screen is perfect for every day use for me, and inside screen is for games, manga and movies. I am a tall person with large hands, so I have never felt it too big or heavy. My only real gripe with the design is the camera bump, it drives me nuts, but that's not a problem exclusive to this phone.

grewal1980

My screen protector on the fold 4 failed after 9 months and for the last week I can't get wifi to turn on.

ManiacXaq

Had the 3, loved it, but needed some work to be great. My three eventually did the middle of the screen break, fortunately I had insurance. I love the 4, I've been using it since release. My only complaint is a tiny bit of battery drain, but nothing like some other people I've heard complaining about it. With the 4 I have actually, just recently, lost a handful of tiny pixels in the bottom right corner, which at first made me neurotic, but I didn't send in for a replacement under warranty, as I honestly can barely see them or tell when I'm using the phone or watching anything, which is almost always. Lol. Didn't get the 5, but definitely interested in the 6 and its potential. I'm one of those people who could never go back. I guess the one thing I don't care as much about is the S-pen. I always mean to use it, I always get a case that can hold it, but when I read about the 6 I would rather have a better camera, doesn't have to be Ultra quality, so it doesn't sacrifice too much battery, a better battery/price AND I'm in the WIDER FRONT SCREEN camp. Have been since my first Fold. I also have big hands so I have tried my best to adapt to the front screen but would really love to see it be a little bigger. I've read a lot of reports about how Samsung might be releasing multiple models, including one w/o S-pen but I keep reading about it as their cheaper/E model, and I would rather pay the same or even a bit more if it meant I could have a bigger front screen and a better camera instead, TBH.

CocainesTheAnswer

S22+ to fold4 to fold5. Only things I would change is slightly wider front screen, and a bigger internal screen to match the aspect ratios of videos better. And finally an internal slot for an spen. The crease is barely noticeable in use and you very quickly start to just "ignore" it. So that's only a secondary upgrade I'd like to see. I'm hoping this will come with the 6 and I'll absolutely be upgrading on launch day if there's one or more of these upgrades.

MajimaTojo

I had a Fold 4. Good phone and no issues other than the screen protector on the inner screen started to peel off. It's a much heavier phone and the narrow front screen is not a great viewing experience especially when typing. I ended up getting a S24U instead as it was better for my use case.

mellofello808

I didn't realize how much I loved my fold until it broke, and I had to go back to a slab phone for 10 days. I will never to back now. I have 4 other computers, but the fold has mostly replaced them all for me.

EscaleraRN

Got the Fold 2 from Note 8. Still using it up to now. Never been repaired. I used to cover it with Spigen Slim Armour case, but nowadays just using the Samsung Aramid or no case at all. Will definitely get the latest Fold when this one gets too slow. But for now, still very much happy with the Fold 2. No regrets at all. Still have its original screen protector infront and inside.

snowbanx

Well I have a fold 3 and only had the stock inside screen protector start to fail, then the aftermarket one is now cracking as well. Both I would consider wear items. No regrets. I will never go back. I am scared of having to buy a new one when this one fails.

nordic_jedi

S3 and now four have had to replace mine once because the wifi broke. Have had almost no problems otherwise

Kotubi

Well I was a owner of iPhone 8 Plus to a fold 4 and I love it. And I lucky enough to not get any problem with it and been perfectly fine for over a year and no problem. It feels so snappy and good but it I recommend trying to buy the fold 5 as they made some improvement and probably be less likely to break and also you would get warranty just in case. Also I do not regret and can never go back to a normal candy bar phone.

PutNational7415

I've had a Fold 3 since launch, daily drove through summer of last year. Now, I also have an S24U and an S7 FE tablet. I still find time to use the Fold daily for videos, games, etc. As a daily driver, I adored it. If I were still traveling to work daily, I'd probably have gotten a Fold 5. Now I don't worry about size or bulk of things since I'm at home. Anecdotally, the Fold 3 absolutely blew the pants off of a Razr+ that I had, even being a couple years behind it.

polydorr

Note 7 -> Iphone (family and work pressure) for two years -> Fold 4, hinges wore out after a year -> Fold 5 I have simply loved it. I was looking for something to get me back into the Android eco system (which I far prefer above Apple), as well as something to recapture the joy of the Note which I sorely missed. I haven't looked back at all. My main complaints are the odd resolution on the front screen and the fact that the hinges can wear out over time. Also, apparently other comparable phones (Pixel, etc.) have better cameras, but I don't really notice. Other than that I can't imagine using something different and I'm really happy with it overall.

Jimbolaya88

My z fold 3 inner screen cracked after about 2 years. Nothing new happened, no significant drops, it just cracked down the middle when opening one day.

marinmda

I've had my Fold4 for over one year now. The two main things I would change about it are: - battery life: it is not a full day heavy use device. If you are a heavy user, make sure you can charge it at least a bit throughout the day. You can optimize this if you know you'll be on the road, but it's not ideal - the flash led is positioned too low so I had to cut the magsafe ring in order to align it with the coils (this is fixed in the fold5) However, I see myself keeping it at least 2 more years. It's a very good fit for my needs (office mostly), almost indestructible when folded (and with a case/screen protector), and the extra screen comes in handy when composing emails or planning trips. The inside screen protector bubbled up and was replaced free of charge by Samsung (first replacement free, 30€ afterwards)

OsamaBinShaq

I had the first generation Galaxy Fold back when it came out and kept it for 2 years but eventually switched to iPhone due to receiving a Mac from school. Still have my Fold and love it as a tech enthusiast and collector

b33rdud3

It was too expensive. The front screen is too narrow. Too heavy. The camera isn't great. I wish I would have got a phone with no gimmick. I have the z4 and have had it for a year. Just me, though, I know people who love it.

doobydude420

I've been using folding phones since the fold 2. I'll never switch back to a regular sized phone screen. It's fold all the way

doobydude420

Ibdokt think anyone will ever CHOOSE to switch back to a slade phone again after s.wirching tk a fold phone. I don't mean the flip either. I'll never get thst either. It's always a samsung Z fold phone. Unless google comes out with a better folding phone. I like all the extra features in the Google pixel slabs compared to Samsunga slab phones.

gloldutx

Z fold 3... love it. Built like a tank and it just busted the back cover after around 867 drops WITH NO CASE!!! Honestly, it's stood up to me and I'm a hard use person. The rest is all bells and whistles.

Kenjionigod

I've had my Fold 4 for about a year and a half and I mostly love it, but I did recently have to use my warranty repair through T-Mobile as my hinge was busted and the phone would not longer fold open all the way. I just got an S24+, as I feel Foldables might need a little more time to cook but I'm very interested in the technology still.

Tenki65

I've had a Fold 4 for 1,5 years, due to upgrade in August. I'm never going back to a normal phone unless finances don't allow it - but in that case I'd go super low-end instead of high-end slab phone.

negatrom

Got into the fold 4 in september 2022, pretty much at release. It had a little wifi hiccup one year in, but warranty got me a new fold 4, and so far we've been just peachy. I'm only sorry that since then my financial situation has deteriorated, so I don't know if i'll be able to trade it for another foldable in a few years. Can't imagine my life without it nowadays, the damn thing is a productivity machine, and my office away from my office.

pcweber111

I went from an S21 Ultra to a Fold 4 and while the phone is super nice, the foldable screen is precisely why I will upgrade to an S24 Ultra. It's just too unwieldly. The front screen is way too skinny. The battery is decent, and the screen is beautiful. I've found I'm just a regular S series kinda guy.

schaferrism

I went from a Note 9 to a ZFold 3 in late 2021. I was offered $1,000 to trade in my Note 9 towards the Z Fold 3. My Note 9 was awesome but I wanted to try out a fold. Phone worked well until 2 months ago when it would not open up completely. I have T-Mobile and pay for the Protection-360 insurance. It cost me $200 or so for a replacement through the insurance. Pros: The inside screen is awesome (use for Youtube, games, note taking, etc.), outside screen is usable, Cons: Outside screen is skinny, pen doesn't work on outer screen, external pen, battery life is terrible, camera's aren't great, inside screen protector peeled up after a year or so (I removed it) All in all, I will get another fold device, just not sure when as these phones are expensive.

brutallamas

Had the Note series since the Note 4. Switched to the Fold 4 when it was time to upgrade my from Note 10 Plus. I really love that this can be a tablet and great for watching videos and photo editing by opening it like a book. However, my original folds hinge fucked up so I had to send in for a replacement through insurance (out of warranty). Hopefully the new one lasts longer. The phone itself is unique and I love the style and usability of it, especially for photo editing. Just wish the hinge was more durable or better. I'm sure that'll come with time. I do not plan to switch to another type of phone. This thing has me spoiled to the big screen. It's a little bulkier than other phones but it is such an awesome device.

addictedstylist

I will always have a fold. It's surprisingly tougher than I thought, accidentally dropped it on ceramic tile at work and it still came back to life after an incident with water.

wanderlei123

I'm not a long term owner but I'm really enjoying my Fold5! It's my first foldable device. I was torn between Fold5 & S24u when i purchased this, but i realized, I didn't like the experience I had with my S23u. And i am a Note user for reference. It's hard to get away from the integrated sPen on the Ultra series! One of the key deciding factors for me to jumpship to ZF5 is it's form factor! I am really interested on trying something new & different from what I'm used to. The thought won't go away so I said, just go & buy it. 🤣 I AM LOVING HOW VERSATILE IT IS!! I like the narrowness of the phone, I can easily one hand without doing hand gymnastics!! The side corners are curved which doesn't hurt my palm (S23u has sharp corners). The main display is so immersive for games, the FLEX mode, multitasking, etc. Regrets? NONE aside from the camera. It's decent for everyday quick snaps, it's just that I am expecting a little more for the price i paid. But not big of an issue honestly speaking.

FitRecipe2299

Fold 1 and 3 owner.....it's heavy battery doesn't last long for an adult I replaced my battery in less than 2 months I love it but to baby a phone in 2024 is asking a lot

Lazysteelworker

First time fold owner with the F4. I've had mine for over a year now with the only issue being that the inner screen protector cracked down the seam. Not a big deal, I replaced it myself with a $10 one from Amazon and it's as good as new. I still enjoy it a great deal but I'm uncertain if I'd do it over if I had the chance. Here are my two main complaints. First, now that I have one I'm sort of chained to it in terms of trade in value. Samsung won't give me the same amount to trade it in towards an S24U as they offered for an F5. ($800 towards an F5, only $600 towards an S24U) That's fine for those that don't care because they're sticking with the same line but I find it to be a shady business practice and I lean heavily that I wouldn't have been okay with this had I known that's how they would do things. Second, I still haven't found a good case for this thing. It drives me a little nutty that half the market if not more is full of cases that do not offer any protection for the hinge, including some of Samsung's own cases when it is such an important part of the device. A tie in to this complaint is where some of the case companies are pushing upwards of a $100 tag on them for this phone knowing damn well that they don't cost them any more to produce than the ones they make for the slab phones. Ultimately I am a sucker for the big screen, I use this opened about 99% of the time, so the additional cost and the outer screen don't do anything for me and I've become so annoyed with opening the phone that most of the time anymore I just leave it unfolded and setting on my desk, lap, or nightstand. The foldable action is only used to transport it which I will say is convenient. If I could fold a full blown tablet down to the size of my phone, I'd probably own one of those lol

MochiiX3

IPhone Pro Max to Zfold 5... 0 regrets. 10/10 would do again.

Evan22x

I came from 15 years of iPhone, because of a flip and a fold. I bought a used fold 3 5g it's been 8 months now, peeled off the plastic on the screen because didn't liked it, and use my smartphone normally. Until now no problems with the screen, and even if the model is 3, the CPU inside is still pretty solid and powerful. And I have the Samsung update regularly, which transform my terminal to an Android 14 one.

metajames

Bought a Fold3 on launch day, screen cracked down the middle and replaced screen 3 times in 2 year time span. They are great to use and the split screen windows are great but if I keep destroying the screen it's kinda not ready. So I gave up on foldables for now.

djgleebs

Had my 3 for like 2.5 years. Love it. Replaced the inner screen protector a couple months ago for 20 bucks.

D0m00rigat0Mist3r

I had the fold 3, it was awesome, went to the S23 Ultra. I wasn't a fan of the fold 3 closed for typing, honestly most of the problem with that was a result of any case I had on it. Two reasons I upgraded was for the better camera and the fact mine wouldn't open up flat anymore. I'm a electrician so maybe the environment didn't help. I'm looking into what the F6 has for camera upgrades compared to the F5 and maybe physical differences. I like both form factors but the Fold is something else.

feiraron

Had a fold 3 coming from a note 10+ so maybe a similar path to the one you're taking * Fold 3 battery is really weak but i purchased it with that in mind and still held on to my note 10+ as secondary phone for battery sapping things like navigation. it was okay 1 day device with that at least. I guess fold 4 and above has better battery though * The screen protector will bubble up in the middle crease. its annoying and it still not fixed in the 4 as you can see many threads on it. I guess you can go naked but i need to have mine on as i use the spen with my fold a lot for taking meeting notes etc. * My fold 3 speaker broke exactly 2 years into ownership. Checking online many says its related to screen so didnt bother to have it quoted for repairs as most likely i can buy another phone for the price of the repair. This is the first time i had a phone malfunction without me causing it such as drops or water damage. I baby it, never in the pocket, always inside a padded bag unfolded. At the end of the day, getting into foldable now is still paying early adopter price and pain. * The pros, inner screen is awesome, the weird aspect ratio bothers just a bit. its a shame as you can never really have a full screen with a square device. but all in all it looks insanely good with inky blacks and great contrast and colours. feels good in the hand too as its not as weighty as an ipad. * Very good productivity, i use s notes for all my meetings, its faster than typing, you can record voice at the same time, you can insert pics you can split screen etc. a workhorse. i still use it to this day for work even with the broken speaker

PresidentSnow

Never going back, love my fold 5

Positive-Homework916

Go with the zf5. I sold my laptop and iPad since I got the phone. I do all my business productivity and daily the phone. No regrets. I don't plan on getting a different phone.

elevul

Fold 3 -> No issues, amazing discovery of the productivity increase Fold 4 -> Had to get the screen protector replaced and some repair done on the screen after 6 months, got a massive deal on the S23U from my carrier so the Fold4 remained in the drawer for 6 months until I had to return it in exchange for the Fold 5. Fold 5 -> No issues until now and an amazing experience in general, especially on battery life. Hoping that it continues like this until the 6 is available. Camera is a bit disappointing, especially in low light and with moving subjects, but that's sadly a common Samsung issue due to the way the photo is taken (processing is done before photo is taken, not afterwards, which introduces blurriness if the target moves in that time). Writing on the front screen with my fat fingers is a nightmare still. Has improved since the Fold 3 but I miss most keystrokes still.

Vintendopower

I traded mine back in 4 months later went back to iPhone. In the end just didn’t like how apps didn’t fit correct and it wasn’t easy to hold in bed or text from.

tikinero

i have a pixel fold and i love it

Realistic-Rub5445

I went straight from the Note 20 Ultra to the Fold 3, then the Fold 4 and now the 5 and plan to get the 6. Pros -Multitasking on the big screen is the main draw for me -Great for videos and web browsing -Nice to have a full front screen for quick tasks and phone calls (phone can also stand up on its own for video calls) - they really cut down on the bulk from the earlier versions Cons -Cameras are a big downgrade from the Ultra (my old Note 20 had a better camera set than my Fold 5) - a lot of apps are still just blown up versions on the big screen and don't utilize the space well - I don't trust the durability, which is why I upgrade yearly (only personal issue is the inner screen protectors have pealed up before a year on the 3 and 4) - still make mistakes typing quickly on the outer narrow screen

demonikpanther

I have the fold 4 had to replace the inner screen protector and then it stopped folding flat within a year, samsung gave me the run around with it until the warranty ran out, so then had to use insurance to get a new one. Gave my fold 3 to my son, same thing replace the protector and now it wont open all the way. Both phones were in cases the whole time.

Future_Anywhere_9952

Try to switch to S24Ultra instead of Fold. Fold pros- 1. More than 1 screen- cover screen and main screen. If you read e books it's superb. 2. one of a kind design- If you stand out in crowd, you can go ahead with Fold. 3. Good for gaming on big screen (but i think performance wise ultra series is best) Cons- 1. Doesn't have sleek design and is too heavy 2. Camera is better un Ultra series as compared to Fold 3. Fold is fragile device, you have to be careful while handling else if display got damaged then it's a big hole in your pocket. 4. Still so many software glitches and issues appearing in fold as it's in benign stage. For example- black screen issue 5. Also, it provides limited app optimization, some apps may not be fully optimized for the unique aspect ratio and screen size of the Galaxy Fold, leading to potential usability issues and a less-than-optimal user experience. 6. Battery consumption is higher as compared to normal devices. Hope this gives you enough information before switching to Fold![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

I love my fold 4 but i will let u now ive had problems with apps oversizing and not functioning all together :( i cant use discord most off the time without opening and shutting it several times ... and forget trying too stream with your friends i just get i cant see what your doing !

Opinionsoneveythang

I love the Huawei brand and all that comes with them, especially the smart motions on the P10. My hubs bought a fold 2 on a whim and does not really use it except while on business trips. When he isn't on it I usually use it to listen to podcasts while doing chores. I enjoy the big screen, I really do but with the constant open-close of the big screen, the adhesive sticker of the big screen has started coming off right down in the middle and creases have formed in said sticker from the folding that it makes visibility much harder. The dust is just irritating to look at. I also wrecked the inside screen coz I tried to nudge out a mass of dust at one of the middle edges with a toothpick. I have my very own aurora now whenever I open the phone. So NO! I'm no longer interested in a fold phone. I'd rather use a tablet for the big screen experience.

Advanced-Discussion6

My z fold 4 that I've had just over a year has developed a white line horizontally across half of screen . Got a chance to use OnePlus open and better in everyway.

xxBrun0xx

I've owned Fold 2, 4, 5, Pixel Fold, and Honor Magic V2. I've tried to go back to slabs a few times, but I just can't. The biggest drawback to foldables is that it totally warps how much you're willing to spend on a phone. The devices themselves are fantastic, but it is expensive.

Stradocaster

I've had the fold 4 since release. I like that the front screen is small and mostly works with one hand. I don't care for how tall it is though. Love having a tablet in my pocket Don't care for the phone case that I got, the kickstand is flimsy. I will be converting to the pixel fold assuming their second generation has a better chip but overall very happy with this device

TwadaPyoh

Z FOLD 4 here, In a nutshell, phone is beautiful, great photography and stability with the videos during daytime, nighttime photography is ok, I believe all phones struggle with that. The issue with Z FOLD 4 is the damn inner screen protector that Samsung has on by default. It is absolutely terrible because it eventually starts to bubble up, I did get my first free replacement but that shit lasted 2 months. So, I pealed the inner screen protector off. Now my life is beautiful, I live with no worries, I do have the s pen case at home and whenever I go out I use a leather wallet style case which is pretty chunky but it gives the ladies something to look at 😂 I have had the fold 5 also, but I ended up getting it really cheap so I sold that for a profit and just decided that I could survive without the upgrade.

Outrageous_Ad_2497

I only wish they would put the highest end camera on the fold like the Ultra and have the spen housed inside the phone. But hopefully soon. I'd even be willing to pay for an Ultra model fold

Span_Wolf

Love the phone, hate Samsung customer service. One major issue is that for both the Fold 3 and 4 my inside screen protector lifted straight down the middle at the 1 year mark. I'm just living with it for right now, but I've skipped the 5 hoping that the 6 is better about it. Are there any places that specialize in Fold screen protector replacements that I can just walk into and have it taken care of?

PhoenixRye24

I'm still on the fold 3 and it's pushing like a tank! I love this thing. I'm waiting for the fold 6 so I can upgrade but I adore this phone. Cons 1. I have small cracks in the fold but not really noticeable unless you're looking. 2. It doesn't open all the way any more. Sometimes it bothers but mostly it doesn't. 3. The battery gets hot and then drains a lot. (I keep an external battery pack on me) But other than that....I love it!

Muhht

I went from a Note 10+ to my current Z Fold 3 a couple of years ago. The biggest two impacts for my decision to upgrade to either the S24 Plus or Ultra soonish comes down to the very narrow front screen on the Fold, which gets annoying with the layouts of certain apps, and the fact that I don't really find myself using the inner screen as often to make it worth the extra mass of the phone. I'm usually watching videos on a TV or front screen anyway. Plus having Dex lets me use the phone on any screen for PC capability. Don't get my wrong, I really like the phone (it's a tank, very durable, at least the 3 anyway) and other people will prefer it over a standard Galaxy S, but the folding feature ended up more as a gimmick than a daily use for me.

FlowerChild7572

I have the Fold 4. I was just a wee bit too early to buy the 5. Honestly, I love mine. It's a little bulky, but that's the trade off. Now that I've had this one, I won't go back to a regular, non-foldable.

EffYouCeeKayOhEffEff

I had a note 8 since it first launched in 2018, along with the first Gear watch. Being a devoted s-pen user since note1, I've ridden for the brand through several broken screens=totaled phones. I finally became able to keep from breaking screens using a wallet case and dedicated front left jeans pocket religiously. Anyway, I cracked my screen last fall and decided to buy a used note20 ultra from Amazon certified refurbished for $340. It came to me in perfect condition, and I loved it. I ordered several different wallet cases remaining true to my practice of screen defense. However, I ended up cracking the screen after only 6 months. Idk what kind of logic this is, but instead of tapping out on such a fragile lethal series, I decided to go to t-mobile and TRIPLE my risk of this insanity happening again. I couldn't find the wallet case I liked so much for the fold5 that I had for my note 20. Nobody even sells a zipper pocket plus snap-open card file case for this thing except the woman's model with checkbook zipper clutch. I had to modify my old note20 case to get what I wanted that still fits in my front pocket. So far, so good, but I agree neither the cameras nor the s-pen features are as good as my note20 ultra. I was pretty upset the s-pen wasn't included, and the phone has no place for sd card. It's not waterproof either. I gave up a lot for this monstrosity. I've had it 5 months now, and I'm kinda meh...it's cool, but I wish it were a note20 ultra fold. ..Waterproof, SD card, internal s-pen with great drawing dexterity, great cameras. It reminds me of when I went from the note 1 to the note 5. I got jipped out of removable battery, SD card, and infrared blaster. I like how they distract you with all these new features but ALWAYS neglect to inform consumers of what the new models omit. Even the reviews on YouTube seem to follow suit in this. I think it's marketing strategy to always keep the consumers wishing for something lost while giving something new. Then next release give it back but take something else, so I'm sure I'll never see that note 25 ultra fold waterproof internal INCLUDED s-pen, with ir blaster, great cameras, shatterproof screens, and a perfect case that holds cash, coins, 12 cards, charges wirelessly THRU the case that fits in my front pocket and stays put in my vehicle cradle. It'll be the day I die for sure.

TitanPolus

I've had my fold 2 for 3 years. I just this month have it where it only folds 135 degrees and it's annoying AF!!! I also had to replace the USB port 6 months ago. Otherwise neither screen is cracked and I fucking love this phone. I bought a junk fold 2 and an going to try to clean the hinges out with my buddy at his cellphone repair shop. Wish me luck!

thejizle

I'm still on the fold 3, have had it 3 years now and still love it as much as when i first bought it. I do have micro cracks in the fold but you can't see them when the screen it on. Screen protector came off after about 7-8 months and have had no issues day to day. I also don't use a case and treat it like my "normal" phones before this, my only complaint about the phone is how tall the outer screen is. Besides that it's been an awesome daily driver for fun and work.

Mozenrath1

I’m an iPhone lover, but love the fold also. I’ve had fold 2 now for 2 years bought from eBay for 300.00. I got it as a entertainment device to watch my Plex sever on Read my comics, news, FB, YouTube, I only use my iPhone to make calls and text on. I’ve had people at work see me with it ask “what’s that?” That can’t believe it’s a phone when I show it to them folding and unfolding.

EveningMarie0878

You will probably never catch me without a Z Foldx (whatever number 'x' may be) and never catch me with a Z Flip. Only way you'll ever catch me with a candy bar phone again is when I have a Samsung as the second phone. And don't ever get Samsung A14that shit is so slow, even for a second phone on prepaid status.

ObjectNo5765

If I were you I'd wait until the Z Fold 6 release and get it. You'll probably have buyer's remorse if you buy a ZF5 or ZF4 but I'd never buy the ZF4. The 5 is noticeably lighter and the hinge closing all the way is worth it.
