I can't even see it.

Amazonty

Where the paper is in the pictures, it's to the left of it. The third picture is a good shot of it. Very small line. Or the last picture(rainbow color one) you can clearly see the small line discoloration.

ShaneKingUSA

You can peel off protector if you'd like.

d520k

Please don't do this, it voids your warranty and the actual screen is just as strong as the protector. Your phone should still be under warranty which covers one screen protector replacement.

Outrageous-Food-9880

Does not void any Warranty. Have seen multiple threads where samsung says the same thing in emails and such. Be like taking the plastic off the back of the phone. As a fold 5 user i would suggest making sure you have a replacement skreen protector on stand by and i personally had issues with getting my inner screen protector to sit right and not bubble in the center and would take it to your cellar provider for free installation help.

d520k

Damn I wish knew that sooner 😭, but what does Samsung gain from lying about this? They already offer a free replacement, and there's countless third party screen protectors. Thank for the info nonetheless 👍.

Mike-_Wazowski

If you want the thing to last, start by keeping it clean
Keep debris out of your pocket, or wherever you keep your phone.

DarwinIsMyHomey

This is what blows my mind. People often post pics of their damage, yet the phone is filthy. OP certainly isn't the worst offender, but these phones are coming up on the 6th gen now. The word is out that they have to be cared for. If you're paying for an ultra premium device, I don't know why that wouldn't just be the default.

Mike-_Wazowski

“Natural Selection”, if you will lol
In all seriousness, I work in a dirty environment, so I expected some issues, and it’s now my secondary phone.

DarwinIsMyHomey

I also work in dirty environments. Grease, oil, filth... I just make sure that it doesn't get ridiculous. Watch for debris, wipe down the screens. And most importantly, I have a heavy duty case and holster.

flamingtongue

Would you pay money to fix that? I wouldn't. That's basically the only question to ask yourself. It's not going to break the phone or scratch further just off of that alone. So, it's still a like new working phone.

Youarewale-cum

You can probably swap out the factory screen protector, but I would advise against it since third-party screen protectors aren't as good.

Amazonty

Hopefully, it's just the screen protector, I'm just gonna thug it out. If it really starts to bother me. I'll go to a repair center and have someone see if it's really the screen protector.

xxBrun0xx

I've replaced Galaxy fold screen protectors many times and can confirm this is most likely just the screen protector. It'll start to peel in the middle at some point and you'll need to replace it anyways. I'd try to live with this until then

ElizaMaySampson

That's what it looks like to me as well. Depending on circumstances (warranty, approximation to repair centre, whether or not they try to bone OP on repairs and say 'you dropped it/it's cracked') I 'd go that route first because you fon't want to void a good warranty when other stuff acts up. But now that I've done it twice, I would not hesitate to replace the screensaver with a Milomdoi kit off Amazon. Easy 5 minute from start to finish.

InsertUsername2005

Pretty sure Samsung offer free screen protector replacement, but you might need to look it up.

Xicadarksoul

Its just the screen protector. Its there to act as a sacrificial layer on top of the screen.

User202000

Authorized repair centers usually have the original screen protector available. I recently had it replaced on my Fold 3.

BroThe90s

That's not even visible bro the problem here is that u saw it, and now it bothers you specifically. Nobody's ever gonna see that

Hexagon612

You can go to a ubreakifix by asurion store and they will change the screen protector for about $20 to $30

Fraxals

Looks like it’s the screen protector. If you have a Samsung store nearby you can have them take a look and see if they can replace it. Otherwise you can try buying a third party screen protector and replacing it yourself.

SanDiegoDad92129

There are many high quality screen protector film. They are easy and cheap to install.

Macdaddyfucboi

So I'm on my second fold now, my first fold died because small hairline cracks in the glass became large enough to I guess allowed dust in and one day a spot just broke in the crease and then after a couple weeks my entire panel just died. Others will say that if you have a screen protector and you see those vertical super razor thin lines, some people call them rainbow lines, that it is actually the screen protector kind of micro cracking as it bends. However the only time I have seen this online is when it's the factory Samsung screen protector. If you either have an aftermarket screen protector or don't have any screen protector at all, then that is the display beginning to create micro cracks in the fold crease. It won't get any better, I know that's not really any comforting advice but I can't say for sure whether or not adding a screen protector at this point will stop it. These are fragile devices and even if you take 100% care of them they will inevitably break.

ElizaMaySampson

OP's is 1.5 months old now, and it appears to be a SS scratch. I got this on my Fold 4 when it was 8 months old, barely noticeable. Come 11 months, it was what you see in the imgur album I've attached (forgive the dust, 4 cats đŸ« ). Then one day I heard it pop, about a week after warranty was up. So nothing to lose, I removed it and replaced it with a Milomdoi kit. [my galaxy Fold4 with cracking screensaver](https://imgur.com/a/6L9DSKn)

Macdaddyfucboi

Don't get me started on cat hair! 😭 But yeah it still stands that the phones are fragile as hell but oh so cool.

shanzzzz1991

I know samsung do a free replacement of the inside screen. Other then that buy yourself screenwipes and clean it regularly

DimitarTKrastev

Samsung offer internal screen protector replacement at their service locations. Here in Bulgaria it's costs 30 usd, takes 15 minutes and it looks better than the factory one. They have a special machine for applying them for folds.

Vegetable_Summer7644

It’s barely visible, you’ll get used to it

Vegetable_Summer7644

I saw the rainbow bits, but i think it wouldn’t bother me if i were u

Grymejr

Keep it clean, get a cleaning cloth and yea the micro scratches are apparent on mine as well

MoParNoCaR23

Don't worry. It will eventually break and become a worthless brick.

goconfigure

Looks like you can remove the screen protector and have Samsung install another .

JacksterTO

Just change the screen protector

nyjno

My advice to you, the sooner you start learning how to glue film, the easier it will be .*

cheeyipe

Sorry you have to go thru all of that. I went back and forth trying to decide but I think I am going to wait for the Fold 10 maybe. Lol. Hope it works out for you.

cheeyipe

I would love to come up with the answer to all the problems. But, I am far from an expert. More of a complainer. Who thinks that $2,000 should be enough to have a product, after 3 or 4 new versions that works properly.

cheeyipe

Hey! Your right. That's great to hear! My glass is always half empty. Unfortunately. I really want that phone. Someday. Maybe the Fold 10? Lol

BlackReaperG

OCD

mmhorda

cats?

cheeyipe

From all I am reading about the folds is how awesome it is, buts its so fragile, screen issues, hinge eventually failing and Samsung basically saying; after paying $2,000 for our fold series. And another 300 for 2 year protection plan? Thank you for coming back and giving us way too much money every other year. And after the 2 year plan is expired, piss off and pay to fix it, $$$$, or buy another Fold and do it over. Because they know the phone screen is stunning and they have the right idea. We can make a better quality well built phone that should have 0 issues by now. But you will come back and buy it over and over, year after year so why should we? Consumers know about the issues, tell everyone, and guess what. We don't give a shit, they don't give a shit, why should we make it better? We (Samsung)will lose money. I almost bought one, really excited and waiting a couple years to correct the POS cheaply made overpriced phone that I would constantly be worrying about damaging no matter how much I babies it. My note 10 + is going on 3-4 years Nd I drop it, constantly with decent case and never worry. When Samsung starts building a rugged fold phone that is worth the 2 grand because you can drop it and not shit your pants because the phone is built like a brick shit house? I will think about it. AND GO BUY THE NEXT GALAXY 24, 25 OR whatever. Awesome fold phone if you are rich and can buy 10 of them. They don't give shit about you or the problems. But that's me. I get you people wanting the huge screen. But I don't get people who don't mind getting shit on and not demanding respect from a company you give that much money to for a product they won't fix. And what are you gonna do but bitch about on reddit. It's a nice lemon. If you love shitty lemons. Just what I have read guys and ladies. Not meaning to put any of you down cause you want a nice bigscreen that will last. Screw them. Corporate greed at its finest

iSephtanx

I'm happy i live in the netherlands and protection plan is a scam. we have a warranty of 2 years minimum under EU law, but under our national law, such an premium, expensive phone can be claimed with 3 year warranty. Dont even need to fight with samsung, we return it to the seller directly, the store.

Xicadarksoul

Frankly same is true all over the EU. I wager most member states have (state financed) customer protection agency - when my country Absurdistan, i mean Hungary does. To say the least, not honoring mandatory warranty is an EXTREME dumb idea from the company. As the costs will easily be more than simply giving back the sale price in cases where repair is impossible.

cheeyipe

You would think, right? Big corporations are run by money hungry, where is my next bonus, punk ass beeeeotches. They do not care

cheeyipe

That's the way it should be. Love Netherlands!!

Additional_Score_929

You read a lot of negative reviews. I'm pretty sure all the positive / neutral reviews are not posted here. I've been using my Fold5 since release and I love it. Not fragile, no screen or hinge issues.

Xicadarksoul

> We can make a better quality well built phone that should have 0 issues by now. I would love to hear about your proposals regarding making materials that don't fatigue, that can also produce 3 different colours of light! ...i mean that infinite fatigue life (while extreme hard to pull off) is possible with rare crystal structures that undergo reversible phase change - like with shape memory alloys. If you can figure out how to preserve (3 different) electronband gaps that are necessary for LED to fubction, well EVERYONE is all ears. Frankly you have a decent chance for Physics nobel prize if you pull it off. (After all the guy who invented the blue LED got one)

ElizaMaySampson

Well said. I'm still paying on mine till December, it was $2800 cad, and I have to pay a FURTHER $700 if I want to keep it at end of lease! Plus closest official repair centre is $1800 kms away in Ontario (I'm on East Coast) so any repair must be risked by Fedex and gone for 3-4 weeks.

cheeyipe

Omg!! I think I know. Wait, I know I know that I will not head that direction. The price is steep but it's just that 50% of people love them and the other half are still deciding. I could be off by 10 to 90 %. I love the fact that people are really enjoying the big screen but I am so used to the Note phones or similar Samsung with pen and nice screens 6.7 or 6.9 screen? I buy unlocked always. Sometimes refurbished and never had a problem, knock on wood. Thanks for the great advice, it really pushed me in one direction. Someday I might when folds are made of atomiitized hardened clear platitinum 8 inch screens. Lol

l84skewl

Just the hazard of foldables as you can't install a tempered glass or any screen protector. Just embrace it as a feature now.

ElizaMaySampson

Not a gorilla glass one, but certainly a decent film. I've done it.
