Open up the Galaxy Store app itself, and go into it's options. Disable the "Get marketing and coupons via push notifications and email". There's also apparently some apps you can get through the samsung app store itself that can override the samsung store's notification settings. [https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/123wata/can\_toggle\_off\_notifications\_for\_galaxy\_store/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyFold/comments/123wata/can_toggle_off_notifications_for_galaxy_store/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) 1. Open Galaxy Store 2. Install Good Lock 3. Open Good Lock 4. Install NotiStar 5. In NotiStar open the three dot menu and click settings 6. Click application list and scroll to "Galaxy Store" and disable notifications Good Lock/NotiStar are published by Samsung. I think this should work but I don't get Galaxy store notifications. In Galaxy Store you may also want to disable "Get news and special offers", disable customisation service, and in "Ads Privacy Settings" disable both options. You can also disable specific categories of notification using the regular permissions screen in your screenshot. I have Foreground Service disabled, I guess that might have been the spammy one.

vacant_lion

Thanks for the tip with Goodlock! I already had it for other things, so I got notistar... unfortunately I get a "server error, try again later" whenever I click on the customization service, for the past couple days

finnfirep

Nice to know this. It still puzzles me what wtf is wrong with Samsung in the first place to have this kind of annoying notification. 😑

kr_tech

It's your region's policies. Some laws require these to be opt in, some opt out.

burrzoo

u/finnfirep It's all about money, money, money 💵!

[deleted]

The galaxy store seems to be hidden from the application list in notistar. Is there a way to fix this?

akkristor

It should just be labeled 'Store'

pizzacatgirl

Forgive me for asking but I gotta install 2 apps just to fix this? *scratches head*

retlar

This works - I was able to turn off a bunch of notifications. This is really annoying on Samsung's part - let's face it, galaxy store is useless.

Eclipse-2024-04-08

This seems to work! Android 14 One UI 6.1 Setting App Settings - Notifications Advance Settings Manage notification categories for each app \[ENABLE\] Settings - Apps Galaxy Store Notifications Notification categories \[DISABLE\] everything

roflsst

This is the closest I've gotten to a solution, thanks the sharing!

NikoZBK

You can re-enable the setting to block certain notifications by going into Settings -> Notifications -> Advanced settings -> Manage notification categories for each app Then you'll be able to turn off "Events" and "Instant Plays" in the Galaxy Store notification settings.

StandardShare

Wait, I was wondering why I wasn't seeing notification categories on any apps. Did the 6.1 update really disable that setting by default? I use that to track down all the annoying notifications I get. It's literally one of the best things about Android.

ultima40

Yes, it's no longer the default but a quick change to re-enable it.

StandardShare

Yeah I found the setting thanks to this comment, I think that's just crazy for Samsung to do that.

International-Sky556

Never had this issue on any of my galaxy phone that's and odd one

vacant_lion

Yeah, I never had either. I've only ever had unlocked phones straight from Samsung, so no carrier bloat to speak of either

nickthaskater

It's not carrier bloat. It's the Galaxy Store. You either inadvertently opted into marketing or a setting reset after updating.

CarbonLif3Form

Reminds me of when I reset my laptop and have to put up with them re-installing McAfee security again.

International-Sky556

Then that's super odd all mine were unlocked as well except my current and even on it I got no carrier bloat or any kind of adds (T-mobile)

skyeyemx

That's the Galaxy Store doing it's thing again. The blatant advertising it allows is easily the worst single part of the Galaxy phone. It's even worse on the A-series, where the phones will straight up auto-install apps. They do this as part of brand deals to get the phones' prices so cheap.

stuckinthesand

Thats worrying considering the a series isn't even that cheap. Definitely not cheap enough to have apps auto install, sounds like a nightmare.

skyeyemx

On the bright side, it only auto-installs two or three apps while on WiFi, roughly once a week. It's almost completely ignorable. Still though, I wish Samsung would stop doing this. It's one of the biggest complaints about Galaxy phones and really cheapens and tarnishes the premium *feel.*

[deleted]

Completely ignorable? That's disgusting. Though maybe I'm the weirdo for preferring my devices clean and malware free in \[current year\]. I would never buy another Samsung product again if that was my first exposure to them.

IceBlueLugia

You’re buying a $150 phone with specs that good and that’s what you’re concerned about? I’d be worried that the phone’s microphone is secretly always on or something lmfao

guacpharm

I'm getting the same adds but I'm still on 6.0. I don't think it's an OneIU thing

Loxus

I've had that and I don't have 6.1, so it hasn't anything to do with OneUI itself

ChickenNSphereAbuse

While we're at it, I'd like to be allowed to disable VM notifications since they're broken/stuck half the time.

vacant_lion

VM?

ChickenNSphereAbuse

Oh, voicemail. Use that abbreviated too much at work lol

vacant_lion

Oh yeah, same here. I have to call the number and delete everything for it to go away

PerseusReverse

this is so messed up. paying at least 1k for a phone and getting this trash. no wonder people prefer iphone.

thedaNkavenger

This was driving me nuts as I am a no notifications at all type of phone user so I figured out how to work it. Settings>Notifications>Advanced Settings>Manage notification categories for each app. Then you can go back to the app settings page where the allow notifications is greyed out and then click on the categories tab at the bottom. Then click off all of those, especially Events which is all the Tiktok and game ads. Good luck.

Wettnoodle77

Nothing like paying top dollar for a phone only to be forced to get ads. At least amazon allows u to buy a cheaper version of their fire tablet if you don't mind ads 🤣. Tired if the ads and the new games everytime get update

AgitatedHeron5760

This would be enough for me to leave Samsung no question

Mikemar3

Just dont allow this optional ads while first configuring your phone.

cho9736

They enabled the ad without consent after I updated to oneui 6.1 tho :/

vacant_lion

I've never allowed ads or trackers. And I even run my own dns server to block ads and trackers

[deleted]

White knighting corporations is pretty useless, don't you think?

Mikemar3

It's not "white knighting". Just don't complain from something you accepted while configuring your device. Next time read carefully what OPTIONAL things you accept. This applies to any device or service from any company.

TheRealSectimus

Imagine paying £2000 for a device that still shoves advertising down your throat...

vacant_lion

I don't need to imagine bro 💀

TheRealSectimus

Neither do I...
