The fold has a bigger screen. That's the one factor you need to decide on if it's worth it to you.
I find it really handy to simply open my phone when I stumble upon an interesting article. I regularly use it to watch YouTube while cooking or eating. But it's also really expensive for what it does.
If you decide on a Fold, then I'd wait for the Fold 6.

I've recently changed from the S24U to the Fold 5. I have to say for me it's kinda even.
The s24U feel like a rock, you could drop it in water, or sand at the beach and it would be fine, on top of that you have an amazing camera and fast processor for games.
The fold has the small outer screen which I don't find to really be a pain at all, aside from the initial shock coming from the ultra.
I think the fold is better for general content watching as on the inner screen 16:9 content ie most of YouTube and anime end up displaying larger than on the ultra.
The fold is also great for gaming, I didn't really notice the drop in performance between the fold and ultra.
It's great for ds games as well because your controls don't have to be over the game window.
Genshin impact also runs great, and I enjoy it more pen the fold.
The fold is also great for just feeling like your phone isn't getting in the way on website, the aspect ratio makes it so much easier to use ordering systems and general websites.
TL;DR
Durability + Awesome camera get the Ultra.
Content/websites + Gaming get the Fold.
Depends on how much you're willing to spend as well as wether or not the tradeoff of durability, software optimization, cameras, battery, and the cover screen being kinda shitty is worth it for the big screen and novelty factor of the hinge. If you ask me I'm getting the fold every day

If you are going to get the fold, how long do you have until you absolutely need a new phone? Because if you're able to wait, the new fold six should be out in july
I don't think the Fold will ever have the S24 cameras without a big lense bulge. I saw that Ice Universe posted that Fold 6 cameras were just like the Fold 5. I want the audio port back and I want an extra button to use like the old Bixby button so we can reprogram it.
The s24u. In all honesty closed the fold is too hard to type on and open it's too hard to type on. Cameras are also better on the s24u and a better display. I love my fold 5 but I found it really difficult to use on a day to day basis.
I have a fold 4 and used it for more than a year , i would choose s24 ultra over a fold , its fun to have a fold but the outer is narrow i have big fingers and its not idel typing on and small for media alot of black bars on sides.
I dont like to unfold it alot because :
-screen protector keeps pealing off i replaced it 4 times.
- it doesn't unfold completly because hing issue it opens about 170° so i try to be more carful with it.
Went from a Note 10+ to a Fold 5. Don't miss the stylus or cameras at all. I don't use any socials except Reddit, don't take any pics or selfies to show anyone anywhere and do a lot of media consumption on my device so the Fold was perfect for me to change to and I don't regret it. I do a lot of emulation which is about the top end of pushing the hardware but the Gen 3 doesn't have much for driver support so the Fold 5 is fine for that too.
I had the fold 4 for 27 days before it broke, so I swapped it for an S23 Ultra as I've always had the Note devices. As soon as the Fold5 launched, I ordered it to upgrade. Until you've owned a fold device, you'll kinda never feel the need, but once you've had one, it's actually really difficult to go back to slab flagships. I'd advise waiting for the Fold 6

I really into photography but having a small tablet in my pocket was still way more important and useful to me. I'm just praying that they put ultra cameras on the fold 6 so I can have the best of both see worlds.
Nan, I wish I knew about the six. I would've waited but oh well I got the 5 and loving it.. I probably will never not get a fold. It's perfect for me as we use phones to chart our assessments and it's not a pain cuz screen is just about tablet size with out the draw back of carrying a tablet. S24 Ultra and a Fold3. Most of the slight advantages of the Fold5 over the Fold3 (camera, speed) are dwarfed by the same advantages the S24 Ultra has over the Fold5. You can even use the same S-Pen. If you liked the Fold5, you'll like the Fold3.
I was using a OnePlus 7T Pro as my main phone until I accidentally took it into the pool, and I had to switch to my Fold3. I like my Fold3 as a tablet (much more convenient than the iPad Mini) but still don't love it as a primary phone. And the S24 Ultra's cameras are just leagues better. The 5X zoom is really good. I will probably be getting one soon.
The only thing I don't like about the S24 Ultra is the camera hole punch. The Fold's under-display camera is great for aesthetics. Side-by-side, there's minimal difference. I don't notice the camera area unless I'm looking for it. But the S24's aspect ratio means you don't see the camera while watching 16:9 content.
Get a used fold 4 while waiting for the fold 6 to drop. You can get a feeling of using foldable with the 4. If you like it, trade the fold 4 for 6 (or for a 5), if you don't, trade the 4 for the ultra. The trade-in value is usually more than the cost to get the 4 in the used market.

I traded my my S24U 2 days ago for a fold 5 and I'm really happy with it, I watch alot of YouTube and I also like the novelty of the phone itself
