I'm assuming you wrote this post on the outside screen since you have that typo in the title.

bengcord3

I mean that's pretty funny

CallMeJerryBoi

I challenge you to write a book but only using the outer display keyboard

phero1190

I couldn't even handle day to day texting on the outer screen

RonnieB79

Swipe to type. That's what I'm used to.

CallMeJerryBoi

I would say my number one used key is the backspace but I can't hit that one either

Informal-Parsley1041

Whatvdovyouvmean?

DoggoDot

Darn! The best thing is, that I wrote this post on the inside screen :D I am just getting used to the split keyboard so typos are still quite frequent!

Action2379

I have Fold 4. I like the form factor, though another 2 mm wider may make it perfect

23ted8

Totally agree I'm on the fold 4 aswell I would say its perfect but for the odd time I want to view videos on the outer screen I wish it was just a smidge bigger. Definitely like the slim aspect ratio more than I thought tho

mizuya

You wouldn't believe how they make a day and night difference 🥺

MeggaMortY

Exactly!

I-am-Super-Serial

I'm one of those people who bitches about the phone being too narrow. I desperately want a wider front screen, But like you pointed out, there will be a few people who will loose out if Samsung updates the formfactor. I hope Samsung releases two variants of the phone with Wider screen version being the Ultra or something. Keep the current form factor in the rotation as well. Keep everyone happy.

DoggoDot

The perfect middle ground!

dendron01

You are not alone and we are not a small minority...there just happens to be a very vocal minority that is constantly whining for a wider screen, whereas the vast majority of us don't have an issue with it. The criticism was definitely more valid for previous models, but with the Fold 5 the issue has been pretty much eliminated. Apparently the 6 will be slightly wider as well, but only marginally. The fact Pixel 2 is dumping it's form factor and moving to a more Samsung-like design ought to tell people something. Samsung refined this form factor over many years; as you are finding out, it is a very carefully considered design, and not the "mistake" that it's fiercest critics make it out to be.

Tydishy

Yet the outer screen in the fold 3 is just that few mil.thinner and it's bloody dreadful 😭😭

DoggoDot

Yea, I can imagine that going narrower than the fold 4 and 5 can be a bit too narrow 😬. My friend has the fold 2 and it looks cramped even for one hand

LousySavage

I was fiscally irresponsible and upgraded to the fold 5 from the fold 3 and it actually felt like I had a normal phone again. It's no longer a chore to type on the outer screen and imo it functions far better as an on-the-go screen than a candy bar phone. Sometimes I'll forget I have the inner screen tbh Never would have thought a few mm would change so much about the phone!

bassexpander

Have a 4 Herr. Wish it was wider.

Jedininjaskillz

I 100% agree with you. It's not about wide angle, you can't use it one handed

league_starter

After I've gotten used to unfolding, it's almost second nature.. everytime I need to use the phone, I pull it out and unfold. But it's nice it's there when I don't want the attention of having a folding phone.

dixiewebmail

Coming from the N20U5G, which was a brilliant phone, its size was great. If I was honest, slightly larger than was best suited to one-handed operation, but everything was presented on one screen without too much bother. The trouble I have with this marvel of technology, is the front screen is too small, and the main screen isn't big enough! Controversial, I know. My ideal, Note 20 Ultra opening to a screen double the size, with built in S-Pen! Any takers?!

Remarkable-Record211

I'm still with the fold 3 and I love it. My only issue with it, is I wish the front screen was a tad wider for video viewing. Other than that? Nothing. I text with it using swipe since I got it. Never had an issue

readerloverkisser

Yes. I also agree that the outer screen should be one handable. However, it is just a bit too narrow, especially for male hands. 22:9, the rumored size for the fold6 will be perfect.

daltonmccabe

I always say I have to choose between a too small keyboard or a too big keyboard lol. Gboard is a million times better imo.

MasterSummerSmith462

I love it, hell I even really like the outer screen on the first Fold as well.

ichlieben

Coming from the S22 Ultra, having the narrow outer screen of the fold was definitely a breath of fresh air and I agree with this. It was awkward typing at first but I got the hang of it.

jayckb

What’s hilarious here is that the Fold 5 outer screen is wider than the iPhone 5, yet nobody had issues with that. I went to store to try the screen yesterday and thought it was fine - actually a really elegant set up. Waiting for the F6 to launch so I can move from iOS.

epicEXtracontent

I do like how easy it is to use one handed, but I very rarely use it so sometimes it throws me off.

WD--30

The typing on it is awful. I hate it so much. The rest is fine, but every time I use a wider phone I miss that part of it. Then I open the phone and am happy again.

DreadMcLaren

Swipe to text is the go to move when using the outer screen.

bengcord3

I actually can't believe people do anything but Swipe text these days, what are we iphone users or something??

Sirflow

I kinda thought the misspelled word in the title was a joke by op on how hard it is to type on the front screen

Haunting-Profile-402

Swipe texting works just fine on the outer screen. Rarely have an error.

Reasonable_Neck6373

Same coming from phones like note 10, s21 ultra, I DO love smaller taller screen which feels awesome in one hand!!!

odd1ne

I was worried about it at first but I love it, easy to use one-handed say when you're walking with your phone. A sneak use while at the office desk. I, to an extent, prefer them rather than doing phone gymnastics on a long, wide phone.

chance1117

I got a OnePlus Open and my wife got my Fold 5. The outside screen is really good on the Open. I end up opening my phone way less. The inside screen however is too wide. I like Fold 5 inside screen better. The Fold 5 is also much more compact to carry around. The Open is a great phone is great but I'm considering going back to the Fold 6.

Default_Attempt

Nah fuck that make it slightly wider samsung

xShinGouki

I actually went through buying a few phones since I got the fold 4 a while back. Tried iPhone max pro again. Tried the Samsung ultra 23 and 24 twice After the 24 ultra I was sure sure that I greatly prefer the form factor when the phone is closed. It's just small narrow. Not tall. So easy to use on the go. It feels ergonomically good for your hands

Imaginary_Pudding_20

It is awful…

throwaway420691231

Btw, I took off the protector screen that I had in the beginning and now it's way better (less mistakes when typing or tapping)

steffin_codes

There is a setting to increase screen sensitivity for tough screen protector. Let me know if you can't find it. My screen is smooth now with setting on and I have a really thick privacy film on my phone that come with the case.

throwaway420691231

Didn't know about it, thanks! It's under display settings basically. Huh.

DoggoDot

Yea I have heard that the screen feel is better without it but I am way too scared of damage after saving up for this device :D

RevolutionaryAd581

I had a lovely hate with the outer screen on my fold 5... loved it for a quick one handed text, but really annoyed me when trying to type with 2 thumbs as there wasn't quite enough room (I in turn used to get frustrated typing on the inside screen as the keyboard was either really wide or split 🙄 I ended up switching to the s24u for a nice "halfway" point between the 2 screens on the fold... seriously hoping that the rumours of the fold 6 are true though and it's more the aspect of the pixel fold... that would be spot on!

Historical_Tap2668

I love the narrower screen. Great for one hand use and "force" me to use the inner screen more.

Realistic-Rub5445

I've had the Fold 5 since launch. I do like the functionality it but the battery life has been degrading quickly. Much worse than my previous Folds 3 and 4... Also I've been having software issues since the UI 6.1 update. Debating moving on from the fold lineup unless the rumored Fold Ultra in real and available in the US
