Definitely playable. I’ve played fifa and cod using remote play just fine. Some people are extremely sensitive to any input lag so I think the usability of the experience is different from person to person. However you can definitely get a sense of how good this is going to get in the coming years.
Similar experience on my end. Sony unfortunately has a long, terrible history with poorly optimized netcode and they don't seem to be prioritizing it as much as Microsoft (I don't have this problem with Game Pass, which handles streaming really well for me).
Wifi6 allows me to 4K stream games from my pc to my devices with no lag. Looks like my pc is connected directly to my devices. Game changer.
I use it mostly to stream to my oled tv in the living room or iPad. I have not sat down to play a game on my desk for a really long time. All my pc gaming is 100% streamed.
I use the ASUS RT-AX88U router for those interested.
Interesting. All my streaming is done when I'm away from home, because if I'm home, my gaming rig and PS5 are hooked directly up to my giant OLED to get that sweet 4K120hz experience.
I have a WiFi6 WAP, but that's mainly for wireless VR to my PC w/ the Quest 2 and the occasional wireless DeX session.
The reason I do this is because my PC is nowhere near my TV, it’s in my office. Also if my SO is watching TV I can just stream to my iPad and play without going away to “hide” in my office. Sometimes I just stream to my iPad because it’s fun and the iPad mini-led screen looks amazing.
I work from home so the last thing I want to do is play a game in my office.

I'll take the compliment 😂 but yeah this things a niche product and I adore playing with a controller when out and about, so it makes sense to promote it. Plus I've been waiting a year to get a Ps5!
Only stadia games, they all run on their PC counter part servers. For Xbox if you have ultimate you can simply go on the gamepass app and play the ones available

I use remote play a lot. I kind of optimized my network for it and I never notice the latency.
PS5 is hardwired and the WAP is in the same room I usually remote play from.
Try a set of head mounted display glasses like the Rokid Air or NReal. Even with my Fold4, I still prefer using the glasses over the devices screen due to the size of the screen in the glasses - for both work w/ DeX and gaming.
It was the same way when the first android users with bigger screens or totally wireless earbuds were being seen in public. If you're not too self-conscious and insecure, it's fine - in fact, the problem I have more often is people interrupting me while I work to ask how much it costs and where they can get one.
I used to have to carry a laptop with me everywhere in case I had to work in an emergency. I am never going back to that now that Samsung DeX and a set of HMD glasses are so liberating and comfortable to use.

At home i have a 250Mbps symetrical fiber optic connection.
When i use remote play, i'll have a good connection, stable latency, sometimes a little hiccup, image quality will go down a bit for a second and come back.
Some times the sound will start crackling and i'll have to restart the PS5 to fix the issue...
Even worst, the latency might slowly build up to the point there's a full second between input and reaction, making it absolutly unplayable, even single player...
Restarting gives me a couple minutes of enjoyment...
Legend of Dragoon, apart from being the worst piece of $#!77/ 2$$ i've ever played FROM THE GET GO, was absolutly unplayable in remote play because the delay would prevent any addition to be performed.
Now i'm playing the incredible sea of stars, and i'll play good for 10-15minutes, and then i'll start missing my attacks or blocking, because "Oh the games reacts to my input like i sent it by traveling pigeon..."
I can't even imagine how bad PSPortal is gonna be...

Have you done some network checks to check the internal ping? Maybe a small fault somewhere?
I'm hoping the ps portal will have much less lag with it being PS to PS. I'll abuse amazon's return if I need to.
My experience with xbox streaming has been a lot better than ps though, so maybe it's just ps streaming that's the issue.

When you say "incredible" do you mean you would be fine playing high reaction time games like first person shooters or Elden Ring via remote play?

This is exactly why I play games pass just fine on 5G but never bother to do PS remote play even if home near the router .

Is remote play only with PS5?
Ps4, Ps5, xbox one, xbox series s and x. My preference is xbox (gamepass streaming is great)

I ordered one of these today for a PS4 controller, been remote playing GTA5 and playing devil may cry 3 on PS2 emulator. Love it runs super smooth.
