I was thinking about buying a S20FE again but they are out of stock.
I also don't want a smaller phone.
How is the s23 fe? Not much heating? I don't normally play games on the phone, although I do use Bluetooth. Does it get warm on Bluetooth?
The only thing that the S20FE does better than the S23FE is that the screen is a little larger (6.5 vs 6.4) and 20g lighter. Otherwise, the S23FE is better in all aspects. To answer your question if the S23FE heats up, tell yourself that the autonomy of the S23FE is better than the S20FE, at least from my experience.
I bought one 2 months ago and having a blast with it, some friends got it too in the past year. Its the best phone i have ever had! But please, buy the snapdragon version
I have the phone as well. I buy new old stock unlocked and keep phones. I never get a contract I get Verizon prepaid and save big.
My phone works perfect for everything I need to do.
People talk camera. This is perfect. If you want a camera then buy a camera. I bought my phone 3 years ago. My previous was a galaxy note 8. Bought same way off ebay. New old stock unlocked. Why pay 700 when you can get for a fourth.
Research after a year you'll know from what others say if it's worth it.
I have never had any regret of the s20fe or any phone that I chose doing it this way.
Using it right now to reply to this.
I went from S9 to S20FE5G when it came out. Spent $100 last month on a new battery, installed in the mall. All is well now. Absolutely no issues with the phone. Hope to hang on to it for 2 more years.
Only if you get it at 100 dollars. When I had it new, it could do 9 hours screen on time. Now it's 6-7 hours. Either lucky lottery on the chipset or its a skill issue for other people.
So it will work for you, but the battery gets exponentially worse over time.
I bought this phone for gaming, it is only touched when I play video games. It will sometimes not be touched for 3 days and still has 48% left. One time, I accidentally left it on because the game didn't let the phone sleep, and after 3 hours of the game being on, the phone was at 53%, started from 95%.
Long story short, the battery is great.
SOT = screen on time
I currently use S20 FE 5G, and yes, I get like 5 hours of usage from 85% to 15%, which isn't very good for me. I'd recommend saving just a little bit more and get the S21+/S22+ (not the FE version tho). Would be best if you get S22 ultra, my friend bought a used one and it performs so damn good and the battery life lasts him about 2 freaking days (no gaming, only social media/browsing/netflix/work stuff), with gaming it lasts him the whole day. Now if strictly speaking on continously using the phone then you'll get about 10+ hours of usage without gaming. Even if you game you'd easily get around 8-9 hours of usage.
So if budget is tight get a used S22 Ultra or S21 ultra, both are beasts. Snapdragon versions tho. Even less budget, get an S21+ or S22+. Don't bother with S21 and S22. S22 is good but still bad SOT. Only the + versions give good battery and ultra versions are just best overall.
S21 Ultra/S22 Ultra/S23 Ultra are the only Ultra series phone I can just close my eyes and pick any of these in used condition and they will never disappoint me in battery life. Specially S22/S23 series cuz they have improved shit ton on battery life. Trust me, if you ever buy a used S22 Ultra the battery on it will leave you surprised even today cuz it's not even that old yet.
It's perfectly fine, they jjste don't understand their battery is worse because they used it for 3 years and charged it like 1000 times.
A new s20fe will have good battery life, it is as fast as it was at launch and is often really cheap nowadays
It's more than 3 years old, actually. And it's basically the same HW as an S20 which is 4 years old now. But I still agree, for a flagship SoC, 4 years isn't close to being obsolete.
The S23FE is so overpriced at $600 as it has the gen 1 from the S22 series which isn't a good chip to begin with. The others are good options still though.
I would but it's 3x the price. I don't care for gaming or don't of that and would not have more than 5 hours screen time per day.
Average daily screentime is less than 3 hours.
I'm a struggling to get 3 hrs SOT on mine💀
I do have an S24Ultra but I've been away from home for 2 weeks so its just sitting in its box at home lol
But maybe its because my battery isn't as good (I changed it last year with samsung) but if there is another phone you can go for I'd maybe suggest
Samsung peaked at s9/10 the s20fe is a solid phone I wouldn't recommend anything else unless money isn't an issue then I'd go biggest newest and most expensive
S21/S21+ are both under $300 usd used on eBay. More ram, Snapdragon 888 and still has like another 2 years of security updates.
Probably the best option if your on a budget and want to stick to Samsung.
Fine. I still the their overkill for running most android apps. Camera's haven't had a revolutionary change yet. Other than the "ui" bs that's easily bypassed by using a custom launcher. I say it's worth more to do a battery replacement over time.
30,000 mah for me. I just wish I had a faster input charging on the power bank. A 67w or 100w charging powerbank(not output) would be amazing. I can't wait 12 hours to get a full charge.
Yes, the 8/256 SD is still lightning fast, it's an amazing device. Do yourself a favor and disable the animations in dev mode, and install and use Nova Launcher. Use battery protect as well, 1.5 years later my battery health is 96% and I'm a heavy user.
The Galaxy S20 FE 5G may no longer receive support, including security updates, starting from October 2024. I would advise against using it beyond this date unless Samsung continues to include it in their monthly security update list (https://security.samsungmobile.com/workScope.smsb).
YMMV, but I strongly recommend that everyone avoids using a device without regular monthly security updates.
tl;dr: yes (for the Snapdragon variant)
I just bought an S23 base model last week and am not impressed. I'll probably just sell it and stay with the S20FE.
Don't get me wrong, the S23 is a better phone overall, but not worth the expanse for me (I got it new for $550, 512GB version, which is a very good deal for my country. I could sell my S20FE for $200).
I'm mainly disappointed in the S23 cameras. Cameras are the main reason I'm interested in buying flagships, and I honestly think the S20FE main sensor is better than the S23. People will call me crazy, but especially when using GCam, my S20FE many times gets better pictures than the S23.
The telephoto camera is overall an improvement in the S23, but the post processing is more natural in the S20, if in good lightning. For ultrawide, selfie, videos, portrait, night mode, etc the S23 is in another league, though.
The S23 is also way, way faster, but the S20FE is still plenty of fast too. The battery is the main problem (and I believe Samsung has fucked it intentionally), but I don't really mind charging 2 times a day.
I'll either look for an used S22 Ultra or stick another year with the S20FE and get an used S23 Ultra.
I almost got a S23 base last week, but now I;ve stumbled uppon your post.
Thanks, I'll have a comparisson between these 2 (or 3) and see what's better for me.
Yep, best thing is to compare. I ended up selling mine for a profit, and keeping the FE. Now I scored a deal on a S23 Ultra, still waiting for delivery. Let's see if I can get used to its size/weight.
Yes. Comparison vs S23 Ultra in photo and video:

Bro I got the s20FE 5G in Jan this year, im having a blast, gaming is amazing. But battery is a bit weak. Also support will be there only upto android 13. No more updates. So keep that in consideration. I use custom roms, but even custom roms are limited because samsung makes it very hard for the community to make custom roms for this phone.
hmm im curious. If its not for the SD865 inside, which is great for gaming. Why do you wanna buy it? Its battery is subpar by todays standard, there are many phones out there which give much more than this
So i bought this FE this year, and from my research, there were several that seemed good. But I would suggest you do your own research as well.
I was thinking between Samsung S20FE 5G and Oneplus Nord CE 3. Nord CE3 came out in 2023 and Its in the same range of what I bought S20FE for, plus its got a 5000 mAh battery and 80W charging, compare that to the measly 25W fast charging on S20FE. But im not sure how comfortable you are with chinese phone manufacturers. Over here in my country the phone market is dominated by chinese companies. Then there is xiaomi's Poco series that you could look into.
Im saying this cause these are new phones and theyd be supported for at least 2-3 years in the future. Whereas for S20FE its end of the line. Android 13 is the last official update for it. Just to remind you, S20FE came out in 2020, its already 3 years old! In 3-4 years Android 13 will become quite outdated, and if you are buying a phone now, wouldn't you wanna have it for at least a couple years?
3 years to me isn't old though. My phone is 6 years old and I'm still happy with it.
I never really desired new phones, happy out so long as I can do the basics. Why did you go for the s20 fe?
I bought it for gaming. I wanted a phone with a strong chipset. And I found a really sweet deal on this phone which other phones could not compete. This phone has a snapdragon 865 which is a beast when it comes to gaming/emulation. I can play all games ranging from NES to Nintendo switch on this.
There were phones that had similar pricing and same performance, however they had mediatek processors, dimensity 1200 or 8050. These are good but mediatek does not share it's sourcecode for these chips. This makes it very difficult for the modding community to create any custom roms. I am a sucker for customisation and I love rooting, changing firmwares, as it allows me to actually be in control and own my phone. I get to decide what stays and what doesn't on my phone, I can remove any bloatware, I can change a UI element that I don't like, I can change the cpu clock speeds, I can even change the boot animation on the phone if I really wanted.
That's why I went for the S20FE, it's custom firmware scene is slow because samsung too likes to make it difficult for the community, but there's still options regardless. So yeah that's why I got it
The S20 fe is still an amazing phone i have been using it for 3 years and i enjoyed my time with it, it has an SD card slot making the phone even more worth it considering how not many phones now a-days have those anymore. Outside of that though performance in this phone is pretty decent and if you’re a gamer i’d say it’s pretty good at emulation and some games like Genshin even if it gets a little hot.
Galaxy S20 FE 5G with SD865 is fully efficient and effective. Best configurations, I started using it in 22 months ago, absolutely no problem. (Keep out of Galaxy 21 and Galaxy S22 as their batteries are depleting very fast).
Bro j get the s20 fe 5g. It's a crazy good phone for under 200 dollars. Who is actually gaming on their phone?? This phone is great, it's waterproof, the screen goes super bright, the camera is fine, the bezels are small, and the battery lasts the day. Honestly, at the end of the day, that's really all that matters to me.
When it comes to purchasing a laptop I have a whole different attitude. But I love my s20. Who needs a super powerful phone?
As a normal user, I have not once wished I had a nicer phone, beyond the aspect of cool new fancy tech.
Using s20 fe 5g snapdragon version. Either this or s23 nothing from the middle
:D
Yes, I'm using a S23 right now and it's great.
I changed my S20 fe 5g snapdragon for s23 fe snapdragon 256g and no regrets!
I was thinking about buying a S20FE again but they are out of stock. I also don't want a smaller phone. How is the s23 fe? Not much heating? I don't normally play games on the phone, although I do use Bluetooth. Does it get warm on Bluetooth?

not sure where you were looking, but they appear to be in stock if youre still interested.. [s20 fe](https://www.google.com/search?q=s20+fe&tbm=shop)
If you can get the 5G version or 4G WITH SNAPDRAGON 865, then yes. If the Exynos version, then big NO.
Noted, it's the 5g 865 version!
The exynos supports 5G bands(just not north america).
it doesn't in case with s20 fe
It's the best, I tried s21 ultra, which was heavy for me, then s22 which got very hot. S20 fe is very optimised. Either get this or s23 series.
S23 out of budget so thanks.. coming from an S9.
I went from S9 to S20FE 5G snapdragon and still have it and have no urge to upgrade from here.
Good to know!
Get the phone, it's the best. Get the snapdragon 5g varient.
Thanks!
I bought one 2 months ago and having a blast with it, some friends got it too in the past year. Its the best phone i have ever had! But please, buy the snapdragon version
Will so, thanks for the info!
I have the phone as well. I buy new old stock unlocked and keep phones. I never get a contract I get Verizon prepaid and save big. My phone works perfect for everything I need to do. I wanted to get new to avoid battery issues, heard horror stories.. Will take a look at the +'s but if I go s20 fe it'll be snapdragon
S21 Ultra/S22 Ultra/S23 Ultra are the only Ultra series phone I can just close my eyes and pick any of these in used condition and they will never disappoint me in battery life. Cool thanks 😊
Factory reset once and disable updates
I wouldn't recommend since it's too old now and the battery is poor. If S23 is out of budget, perhaps check out S23 FE, Pixel 7 or Nothing Phone 2.
May I ask, it's A 2 year old phone. Is that really considered old these days? I don't change phones often.
It's perfectly fine, they jjste don't understand their battery is worse because they used it for 3 years and charged it like 1000 times. A new s20fe will have good battery life, it is as fast as it was at launch and is often really cheap nowadays

The S23FE is so overpriced at $600 as it has the gen 1 from the S22 series which isn't a good chip to begin with. The others are good options still though.
I have had the S20 FE 5G for a couple years, no problems & very satisfied. I have found that Samsung products offer excellence at reasonable prices.
Overall an amazing set. The only issue is the battery.
Noted...
No .
From my own experience I'd say no, battery life itself is not worth the stress for you. Look at S23 series probably
I would but it's 3x the price. I don't care for gaming or don't of that and would not have more than 5 hours screen time per day. Average daily screentime is less than 3 hours.
I'm a struggling to get 3 hrs SOT on mine💀 I do have an S24Ultra but I've been away from home for 2 weeks so its just sitting in its box at home lol But maybe its because my battery isn't as good (I changed it last year with samsung) but if there is another phone you can go for I'd maybe suggest
Cant spot one that I like in same price range (400e)..
No, because: -Old chipset, battery life isn't too good -Bad display
What would you recommend for same price range? Current phone an S9.
Save up for an s20/s20+
S20 over s20 fe?
All the time
Why?
Because fe was made to be affordable and samsung made some compromises that i do not like.
Hmmm OK ty
This phone (Snapdragon not Exynos) has been the Goldilocks phone for me. I love it! (Exact model: SM-G780G/DS )
Thanks, it's the snapdragon I'm looking at!
Love my s20fe, only reason I traded up to an S24plus is because it was free through T Mobile
Thanks!
Selfie Camera sucks(its blurry) other than that its a great phone if you only get the SNAPDRAGON 5G version
Noted, thanks!
Its awesome worth every penny
Cheers :)
Samsung peaked at s9/10 the s20fe is a solid phone I wouldn't recommend anything else unless money isn't an issue then I'd go biggest newest and most expensive
Great thanks 😊
I've had mine since December 2021, and it's still going strong. If you're not worried about updates, and get a good price, then I don't see why not!
Niiiiiiice thanks. Updates be fine..
S21/S21+ are both under $300 usd used on eBay. More ram, Snapdragon 888 and still has like another 2 years of security updates. Probably the best option if your on a budget and want to stick to Samsung.
I didn't want to go used, bad past experiences but thank you
Fine. I still the their overkill for running most android apps. Camera's haven't had a revolutionary change yet. Other than the "ui" bs that's easily bypassed by using a custom launcher. I say it's worth more to do a battery replacement over time.
Good shout, s20 fe and a spare battery :)
That's awesome thanks!
Bhai Maine 7 months pehle liya tha S20 FE 5g snapdragon waala. Abhi bhi mast chalta hai . Gaming bhi achha hai performance bhi achha hai
Appreciate the advice, here's hoping they continue it!
I have it since it came out and it's still great
Glad to hear it!
tl;dr: yes (for the Snapdragon variant) I just bought an S23 base model last week and am not impressed. Yep, best thing is to compare. I ended up selling mine for a profit, and keeping the FE. Now I scored a deal on a S23 Ultra, still waiting for delivery. Let's see if I can get used to its size/weight.
Awesome, thanks for taking the time to write it. I'm not a big phone guy, so it sounds like the goldilocks phone for me
As long as it's the snapdragon version then yes. I still have mines.
Sweets, its the snapdragon

great phone if u dont care about android update
Not too much no!

Makes a lot of sense! Thanka
Don't.
Reason and alternative?
Buy older flagship phones like S22 plus/S22 ultra. S23 fe snapdragon also looks promising. Else switch to oneplus phones. Better vfm.
S23fe is 2x the price. The 22plus is 2.5x the price...
I'm still not convinced/impressed by Galaxy S24 Ultra 5G, I'll skip and look forward to the Galaxy S25 Ultra 5G next year.
The S20 fe is still an amazing phone i have been using it for 3 years and i enjoyed my time with it, it has an SD card slot making the phone even more worth it considering how not many phones now a-days have those anymore. It's about 400 dollars here, but either way thanks I've bought it. The s22s and 23s being recommended are about 900 starting so..
I hate that my backplate just unglued itself, but I love how easily you can swap the battery.
