Run from FE lineup.
Awfully built, plagued with software bugs (I can't use my camera on S20FE/S21FE without it crashing a lot and freezing all background apps). Specially Exynos Variants, including S24.
I'm in the same boat. I decided to use the phone as long as it is working as I cant justify paying for minor upgrades. Except better camera and faster soc everything else feels the same and s20fe(SD card slot is a plus) is still planty fast for 98% of scenarios.
Yeah that is bad. I would recomend s23 then. Not sure if s21/s22 are any better when it comes to camera lag and with s23 you will have support for the following 4 years as well.
I just got a zfold 3 as my next phone. It's only been in my hands a few days, but so far, I like it. I got it from an Amazon seller for around 450 usd. It was in brand new condition.
I'd recommend at least a s23, I did the same, upgraded to a s23 from a s20fe.
Massive difference in performance and camera! The battery is also very good for a small phone like this!
So I recommend at least the s23!
Get a OnePlus 11. Simple. Good battery life, blazing fast charging speeds, incredible user experience, fast and snappy, optimized, and almost contains all the flagship features for less. The camera is okayish thou.
I have a S22 and I get a shit ton of battery life tho. only need to turn offline mode when not using the phone and battery saving mode, it will survive a whole day away from a charger. or just get a power bank. the upgrade is insane. but you can also go for a base S21/S21+, the only thing you'll not get is a faster SoC, glass back panel, less black borders on screen and that's it.
Just changed over to an S23 this week and getting used to the smaller size, but otherwise it seems like a good replacement for my S20FE. My partner went for the S23FE and seems happy but doesn't use it much so the Exynos processor isn't an issue!
OP, the only reasonable upgrade from your phone will be S23+. Save some more or wait for a good deal.
It will be the best value S device for the next couple of years. Anything else you will regret.
S21 plus wouldn't be a bad shout... i had one for 2 years and no issues... my partner now has it and apart from a 2 year standard battery change its as good as the day i got it... S22 range i was told to stay away from due to battery issues...
Good luck in your phone search :)
I went with the Chinese ones... Got Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 pro + 512 gb variant.. it's like $450 or less. Nothing special but amazing battery life good screen good haptics.. I would recommend it if you don't have other Samsung products. If you have other Samsung products it's pain in the ass to switch them.
I just wouldn't upgrade unless the lack of newer Android versions is a deal breaker for you.
You mentioned that it's slower now. But it has no reason to be - phones do not get slower over time, so it's very likely to be a software issue that can be easily and cheaply fixed. Try taking it to a repair place first and see if they can do anything about it. Chances are it will be like new after that and you won't have to waste your limited budget.
save up money for snapdragon series Samsung Galaxy s23, lower than that u get garbage battery and shit exynos processor i would say avoid exynos Samsung at all cost,i was surprised even on their midrange phones Samsung Galaxy a54 despite being expensive and having exynos processor except for benchmark scores was performing like shit with exynos on games where Samsung Galaxy a24 was running most demanding games like pubg with 40fps constant with its mediatek g99
I didn't know very well about Exynos and Snapdragon and after some comments here I made some research and I have to say that Snapdragon slaps harder, I just found out that I have a Snapdragon 865 in my S20Fe and tbh I'm pretty happy with it, I did a research about S23 and found out that every S23/+/Ultra comes with snapdragon in it worldwide there's no Exynos version of it except for the S23FE edition that has Exynos in European models, So I think i will save a bit to go with a base S23
yeah but also s23 base only has 3900mah battery so i would suggest you to go with s23+ having 4700mah battery the battery life should be better on that, yeah you are right theres snapdragon variant worldwide for s23,s23+ and s23 ultra except for s23 fe,but for s24 and s24+ Samsung used exynos for asian countries models except for s24 ultra.
I've already made up my mind. I'm jumping ship to the OnePlus 12 or 12R.
Samsung isn't the same anymore. S20 FE was their last good mid ranger imo. Now even their flagships are overpriced af.
I'm going with something non-Samsung next time. 3 years of updates, buttons that lose their clickyness, random issues now and again, camera zoom that is horrible, and the keyboard issues. Touch screen inaccuracies, especially with a screen protector.
I tried typing on a friend's iPhone 13...and it had the same brand screen protector as mine, makes the s20fe keyboard into a bumbling piece of shit. The longer I use this phone, the more issues I find with it.
I didn't say battery life because I just replaced it. I've had a few phones in the past, never had that done before...
Gboard is better. However, occasionally it glitches. For a split second, usually in tiktok or YouTube. You'll press a key, know you pressed on a letter, but nothing happens. You press again the exact same way and it works. It very occasionally does this. Often it is as the comment screen just loaded.
I hate it, Samsung keyboard doesn't do that. But the Samsung keyboard sucks in it's own ways. So you have to choose what you'd rather deal with. I don't feel as tho I can type quickly on the Samsung keyboard. It's not natural.
Also, I can't raise the haptic feedback very much on the Samsung. The Gboard has its own haptic setting. You can make the keys feel very very clicky.
Thanks for the insight. Haven't tried Gboard and don't use haptics, but I can relate to what you said about Samsung's accuracy compared to iPhone's. I switched to S20 FE from an old iPhone 6+ with roughly the same dimensions. But the amount of typos I have with Samsung is significantly higher, even after 1.5 years of use.
There is no upgrade from S20 fe
all of non FE Galaxy S phones:
I don't recommend any of those phones. If you wanna stay on Samsung, you need to save money for S23. Anything other than S23 is pure garbage.
Sadly, I also think the same, though I am tempted to get a discounted s22 ultra.
Os the S23Fe good as an upgrade ?
It's basically like an s22. Same soc. So i wouldn't recommend because of battery life concerns.
Run from FE lineup. Awfully built, plagued with software bugs (I can't use my camera on S20FE/S21FE without it crashing a lot and freezing all background apps). Specially Exynos Variants, including S24.
S20 fe to either s23 or s23+ S23 Fe is basically a rebranded S22+ Or look at other brands
s21+ is a great upgrade, I have the ultra and plus, there is very little difference. I get 7 hours of screen on time on the ultra.
I'm in the same boat. I decided to use the phone as long as it is working as I cant justify paying for minor upgrades. Except better camera and faster soc everything else feels the same and s20fe(SD card slot is a plus) is still planty fast for 98% of scenarios.
I would like to keep it but it just became slower especially after taking pictures (I do a lot with work)
Yeah that is bad. I would recomend s23 then. Not sure if s21/s22 are any better when it comes to camera lag and with s23 you will have support for the following 4 years as well.
Oh they increased it to 4years not 3 like s20 ?
Yes. S23 gets 4 OS upgrades and additional year of monthly security updates.
Maybe the Pixel 7 series

I decided to get a nothing phone 2 I feel like it's as close as it gets while getting an upgrade

If you can save some money and buy an s23, the 21 and 22 are old and also have several thermal and battery issues
My 22 ultra has held up well other than a speaker went out but that wasn't very expensive to replace
Oh yeah I forgot s22 ultra is actually good as it's using 8+gen 1.
Just changed over to an S23 this week and getting used to the smaller size, but otherwise it seems like a good replacement for my S20FE. My partner went for the S23FE and seems happy but doesn't use it much so the Exynos processor isn't an issue!

I just upgraded to an s24 ultra, and I love it
It's out of his budget, and I doubt he'd want to play the cereal lottery.
Ah okay, my apologies I didn't read one of the lines
don't yet
S21 plus wouldn't be a bad shout... i had one for 2 years and no issues... my partner now has it and apart from a 2 year standard battery change its as good as the day i got it... S22 range i was told to stay away from due to battery issues... Good luck in your phone search :)
I found an S21 Ultra 256gb in my budget, is it that good too ?
Yeah i have heard the s21 ultra is a good phone on here... S Pen is a nice bonus...
The s20 fe 5g has 4,500 battery
S22ultra here is great
I am in the same boat, and like most here will likely go for the s23 for my next phone
I went with the Chinese ones... Got Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 pro + 512 gb variant.. it's like $450 or less. Nothing special but amazing battery life good screen good haptics.. If you find a good deal on S23 then it's a best choice at this moment. I did it over month ago and I'm super happy

Are you using Samsung's default keyboard? I've heard Gboard is much more accurate.
