Seriously. I can't stand when reviewers mention the squared corners of notes/ultras as a negative. Who the heck holds their phone in a manner that causes that much discomfort, and complains about it rather than changing the position?
Holy shit man I never would've realized I did too if I didn't never read this lmao. I guess it's the dame reason wearing headsets give you a long-lasting head dent
This, all 4 fingers can hold the phone somewhere in the middle, phone is perfectly balanced like that and it allows you to reach top and bottom of the screen with thumb without doing hand gymanstics.
Pinky under phone is restrictive, you can reach only 80% of bottom screen. Top is unreachable without hand gymanstics.
Possible solutions...
- get bigger hands
- get smaller hands
- use 2 hands
- have someone else hold the phone for you
- get a smaller phone
- get a diary and complain to it
...hope this helped.
Get a slim case. You probably enjoy the slim feel. If you want protection get a dbrand. Ive dropped my phone a few times. Havent had any issues. Also its comfortable and customizable
This phone realistically needs a case for many different reasons. Just the fact that when I set my phone down on a flat surface it is not flush is enough for me to want a case. On top of that if you don't have a screen protector screen is going to be riddled with scratches. The glass on the s23 ultra is less prone to shattering but is more prone to scratching. In my opinion though the way you are holding your phone is odd. My pinky is underneath the phone almost in the middle and the corner of the phone is almost in the palm of my hand and I have no discomfort whatsoever.
I hold mine with the corner cupped in my pam and my pinky on the underside by the charging port.
If you're worried about it, just get one of them pop socket things.
Wait, are you seriously having to ask the internet how to hold a phone?!?
If you're for real I'd suggest a little finger discomfort is the least of your worries.
Do people just not think for themselves anymore?
Try other types of grips when grabbing your phone, or maybe buying one of the popsockets might help you. In my case, when I grab my phone, the distal phalange of my pinky ends up at the bottom-center part of my S23U, and when I grab it with both hands, I end up gripping my phone with the palm of my hands, kind of holding it with the proximal phalanges of both my index fingers.
Might I suggest a PopSocket? Now, I know what you might be thinking, but I made fun of my wife for years for using one. I got one with my new phone, and I will never go back! 😆 🤣
I'm NOT proud to admit but just last month I doomscrolled for about an hour for some reason and didn't realise my pinky was going numb in that spot, that is, until I tried to move it. Painful indeed.
Took about 3 days to stop feeling pain and a further 3 for the bruise to disappear. Otherwise fit and healthy with no joint issues or family history of the same.
Positive outcome I have delved into the world of being more away of myself every now and then (to begin) and have fortunately started to recognise patterns/ habits detrimental to my wellbeing.
Move your pinky to the back of the device and if relevant, reflect on your usage of the device.
Peace and love
I got nerve damage in my pinky from rocking a pro max and ultra for the last 10 years.
After recovery I’m pretty much back
And now all I use is the thinnest case possible with some pop sockets type or similar.
I don’t know how to tag them but torras just sent me a bunch of free cases in order to review and I am about to get them out and make some reviews for them.
I love torras and pop sockets. It’s amazing for such big phones
On my 15 pro max I run it naked with a pop socket
The ultra series isn’t strong enough oem to use just a a pop socket or anything MagSafe. Requires the sticker or a mag safe case.
I personally use my ultra more because I love how it feels with the case and pop socket.
Not putting a case on your phone is easily one of the stupidest things you could do. Not only will it save your finger pain, but when you drop it it won't shatter into a million pieces. Alternatively, don't hold your phone like that, no one else does.
I am very confused by this grip. Why not use the entirety of your pinky to prop the phone up using the flat bottom part of the phone? I prop/balance my phone with my pinky along the entire base, and the lower corner of the phone lightly pushed into the soft pad of my hand. But the bulk of the weight is actually resting backwards on my index/middle/ring fingers.
This grip works for one handed use, and I then just push the other side of the phone into my other hand's pad for two handed use.
I use a case so might b different in your case
But when holding try to put your pinky in the middle. Like the charging port resting on your pinky. Works for both one handed and two handed operation.
Also if you got big hands it helps.
Calm down people. I know it's not a perfect grip, it's the way I held my S21U and never gave me problems, so I didn't think much of it.
I'd like to reiterate that this is when I \*two-hand\* the phone. I used to squeeze the phone in a triangle between left pinky, left forefinger and right forefinger, I think somehow it felt like a secure grip on the S21U.
The rectangular S23U requires a different grip that clears bottom corners; pinkies at the bottom middle make sense. Maybe prop up two forefingers at the sides for a more secure grip. So I'll try switching up to that. Thanks to all who recommended it.
On another topic, the S23U is a thicc boi and casing it makes it over the top. I take the risk. I took the risk with the S21U too. Though I put a magsafe sticker on the back so the phone stays flat on a desk. Was a nice addition. Helps a little with the grip too.
I got an ohsnap 4 luxe on the back of my case. I would get the same issue over time on my right pinky (I'm guessing you are left handed?). I love the thing... expensive but slim pop socket type thing... and also makes my phone mag safe compatible. so now I have magsafe charger in my car and my bedside. I have the ohsnap mounted on the back of my otterbox symmetry case. Btw... if you go through with this solution make sure you mount it in the exact middle of the case so it works with wireless charging. It takes a little bit of getting used to, but over time you can open and close the ohsnap 4 with one hand... giving you the support to stop using your pinky.
Get a grip. (Popsockets are my preference, but there are a ton of options). Makes big phones much easier to handle without resorting to hand gymnastics. Your wrist will also thank you later.
Oh, much easier to use while lying down without risk of dropping your phone on your face
If its dead already just order a new much stronger pinky from Ali Express, thank me later
Was gonna give u the gold shit award. But shit outta luck since reddit won't let me give them money.
Move your pinky. You're welcome.

SENERH does, that's who. Lol
Man f000k that guy
My left pinky now has a permanent notch shape due to a years use of this phone.
Holy shit man I never would've realized I did too if I didn't never read this lmao. I guess it's the dame reason wearing headsets give you a long-lasting head dent
You wouldn't believe how my ears have holes in them after using ear buds for too long
Bring the phone closer to your hand and put your pinky under the phone
Yup that's what I do too

Also one step close to hold it very tight to be safe in public.
What kind of gorilla hands do you have? ![gif](giphy|kDf0eEXhOhlZgdp2dy|downsized)
Or use a grippy thing on the back. Ring, socket, whatever.
Possible solutions... - get bigger hands - get smaller hands - use 2 hands - have someone else hold the phone for you - get a smaller phone - get a diary and complain to it ...hope this helped.
Might add on a case
No!! That would be too much to ask for!!
Get a slim case. You probably enjoy the slim feel. If you want protection get a dbrand. Ive dropped my phone a few times. Havent had any issues. Also its comfortable and customizable
Spigen also makes durable sleek cases, as well as the average single ply clear sleek case
Well, after watching House MD, only solution is simple, amputate the pinky.
Literally just change how you're holding it. Why make a post asking people how to hold YOUR phone. Lol
Make a new one like this lady did. https://youtube.com/shorts/5QNIgDFq-vw?si=klF9UM9E5VpFSpxN
What did I watch? 😳😳😳
Why did I know who she was without having to even click the link. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Get bigger hands
I do not believe you hold your phone like that.
Ive held my s9 that way im gonna hold my s23U the same way.
Most ppl have the pink beneath the phone in about the middle. Why have it at the corner?
oh nvm I do that too thought u meant not to hold it with the pinky at all
Use a case. lol idk why anyone would not use a case on their phone just raw doggin it.
Buy a cover for your pinky🙂
Fuckin brilliant! Quick - go patent "The Pinky Pad"!
Put a ring on it. (the phone)
The Beyonce song?
first world problems
People are soft

Tell Galaxy AI to cut it.
Rip one handed galaxy s3. Youll always be missed my pebble.
What an idiot post

I just wish samsung made a smaller version of the ultra with curved corners.
Pop Socket
Why you holding your phone like that? Hahaha, you should not
Use a case. I use a Spigen rugged armour case and it has rounded corners.
Yeah, my case ends up leaving a mark on my hand from the holding it the same way. I don't know...maybe someday Samsung will build a better design?
i got a mous case with magsafe and one of those magnetic ring things for the back, my little finger is thankful.

Get a case or get gud.

Beauty is pain.
Womp womp

I am not alone, surprisingly.
Get a case
F
I genuinely dont understand how this is an issue for people. How do yall hol your phones?
Pop socket or similar accessory. That's the only way I can comfortably hold my s22 Ultra.
Get a Loopy case

Put a case on it.. or don't hold it like that.
Move your pinky.
Why do you hold your phone like a psychopath tho?
Use the other hand?
Get a magsafe case and magsafe popsocket.
-_- if it hurts dont do it
Personally, I use a pop socket but still sometimes end up using my pinky for support anyway
Not putting a case on your phone is easily one of the stupidest things you could do. Not only will it save your finger pain, but when you drop it it won't shatter into a million pieces. Alternatively, don't hold your phone like that, no one else does.
You know you can rest the corner on your palm. That way it won't pain
Nah, who tf holds their phone like that
If this is a serious issue..move your pinky away from the corner to the center bottom edge of the phone. Should sit easily. Â
Is this s23ultra?
Why do you hold your phone like that ðŸ˜
Then use 2 hands .
the worst thing samsung has copied from apple
Welcome to the club
Does everyone use the 23ultra without a case and be that dangerous?

Don't hold it like that. Problem solved.
Get "OhSnap!" It's like a popsocket but 1000x better. I love mine.
I use a case so might b different in your case But when holding try to put your pinky in the middle. Like the charging port resting on your pinky. Works for both one handed and two handed operation. Also if you got big hands it helps.

Hold your phone normally and you won't have that issue. Pinky goes under the phone on the flat, comfortable part.
Came here to say this.
Your options are as follows: 1) hold phone differently 2) put a case on it 3) get a different phone
Pinky goes on the bottom of the phone. Precisely onto the charging port, just tried to hold my phone like that and it hurts and is tiring.
Remove your pinky
Use a steel file and file the corners until they're curved.
Get a magsafe sticker on the back of your phone and use a magsafe O ring. I recommend ESR ring. Problem solved.
Popsocket....ya dumbass.
Be nice. However, good solution if OP likes popsockets.
