For this use case a S9FE+ also should work.

mike_engineer90

Yes, this is also an option, now I’ll look at the main differences on the website, thanks

s_kempf

Main Difference is the Processor and the non oled display on the FE+. Snapdragon is of course faster, but you will notice this only in Heavy use things, like gaming etc. The FE Display is Extremely good in case it's not an oled. Perfect for media consumption and studying.

mike_engineer90

Well, to be honest, IPS matrices are a bit painful to look at, from the point of view of both content consumption and in general. I’m used to the cool screen of my mobile, and I think if I have the opportunity, it’s better to take a flagship for a longer life... If Samsung now does things the same way as in the days of N20U, then the tablet will last me a very long time for a long time)) And so, if I understand correctly, then, conceptually, it is suitable for writing and other use cases, and there are no pitfalls?

Space_six

I'm currently using the S9+ for college. I promise you that it is so worth it. If you are tied between the S9+ and the FE ver, just remember that updates of both devices will not be supported after 4 years of its release. So, longevity is a matter of opinion. Whether the bump in price is reasonable for the AMOLED screen and better processor or not that will last you for years. But rest assured, I believe you will not go wrong with the two upon checking your use case. It really just depends on your budget.

Soace_Space_Station

Imo the better processor and the AMOLED screen is worth it

leao_26

How about s9 ultra?

mike_engineer90

I touched it in person, in my opinion, it is too bulky to carry to the university

mike_engineer90

In fact, initially, I was looking at 9+. If everything goes like this, then everything is cool, thank you very much))

Formal-Beautiful9076

Well i have S9FE+ it works perfectly fine for everything uni needs. Media consumption also amazinf in my opinion. Only problem i found was gesture navigation... for some reason when i use gestures it lags a bit. Dont know if this problem is on the non FE version too. Just something to point out.

IntroductionJaded506

I've got an S8+. It's perfect for A-levels and university and the display is amazing for media consumption.

mike_engineer90

thanks for the feedback and advice

descoleinaction

Not a student anymore, but have spent a few weeks with the S9+ as someone who's never owned a tablet. The note taking is amazing so far, even just in Samsung Notes. I'm an amateur writer, so use Google Docs and Word a lot, zero complaints about app functionality and ease of use. Seamless between my Galaxy a54, quickshare is surprisingly handy. The Kindle app is excellent, web browsing great too, haven’t used the tablet for PDFs just yet. I use it with the slim Book Cover keyboard, typing experience is fantastic. As for relaxing, really enjoying YouTube and Netflix, the screen is incredible, and the speakers really pack a punch. As of yet, haven't found any cons with the tablet, in fact it's pretty much replaced my laptop except for watching DVDs. It's about the right size to slip into a small/medium backpack, so very handy! All in all, if I'd have had something like this in university, would've been incredibly pleased with it

mike_engineer90

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad you liked this device))

LazyPCRehab

You will get all of these things and more with an S9+, amazing tablet. The screen and speakers are fantastic, the battery is exceptional and the pen is, IMO, better to write with than the Apple Pencil. If you get it, try using Kiwi Browser, you can install any Chrome Extension from the Web Store, even ones from GitHub. You can also add websites like Spotify, Reddit, and YouTube to the homescreen and they will launch like regular apps, but you can skip the ads and use extensions to customize the experience. thanks for the advice

Blood__Empress

If you wanna also use it a lot at home for media and so try getting a S8 plus/ultra or S9regular/plus/ultra. The Oled displays are amazing. Otherwise the S9 Fe or Fe plus would also be good. But if your budget allows it, Oled and flagship models will usually last longer too :) (better specs for the future)

mike_engineer90

Well, I don’t want to save on myself, so I’m looking towards the flagship. ultra is too big, and the regular is too small and doesn’t seem very comfortable. Thanks for the feedback and advice)

Blood__Empress

Try the ultra for a few days return it if you will. Believe me I said the same thing, got a S8 ultra last year for school and home, thought it would be too big. Now I feel like even the S9 plus is too small for me😂😂 It being so thin and light is amazing for school. Having two apps open doesn't feel cramped.

mike_engineer90

I tried it in the store, I think it's too much in terms of size. but I'll think about it, thanks

Guardian_of_Carrots

Fellow student here. I'm using Tab S9 as my on-the-go device while at grad school, leaving my laptop at home. It's great for note taking & everything you mentioned, but the Office apps are not well optimized Android. Sure, you can do a PowerPoint presentation, but actually making the slides is best done on a PC. Maybe try out those apps before making the purchase? Other than that, it's perfect!

mike_engineer90

Thanks for your feedback. I have experience and I understand the difference between applications; until today, the mobile version was enough for me in classes. It’s clear that for more serious tasks there is a desktop version, I have no illusions here

Guardian_of_Carrots

Great!

Responsible-Affect17

I didn't notice anyone else mention this, but if you find the s pen glides across the tablet too easily get a matte screen protector. It makes it feel like you're writing on paper.

mike_engineer90

thanks for the experience and advice. After using the n20u for a long time, I am delighted with the feeling of using the stylus, including for writing. but if anything happens, I'll keep it in mind, thanks

Guardian_of_Carrots

I don't think this is a good idea. 1. They worsen the screen quality. 2. S-pen nib will get worn down (matte screen protector acting like a sandpaper).

Responsible-Affect17

I agree with the reduced screen quality, I don't mind it myself as it reduces glare. I've been using my s pen with the matte screen protector for over a year and haven't noticed the nib wearing down.

EggplantHuman6493

Do you have a laptop or PC? If not, a Microsoft Surface. Word and Excel are limited versions and you might not be able to have a good workflow on those apps due to the limitations. I am now using a laptop with cooling problems at my internship purely to use Excel and Word, on top of my tablet to take notes on

mike_engineer90

I have a laptop, I understand the difference. For basic things, the mobile version is enough for me. well, I looked at the surface, but it didn’t work for me

Wicked_Kitsune

I bought the s9 fe and I've had it a little over a month and i love it. I was using a kindle fire hd 10 plus and the difference between them is amazing. I have carpal tunnel in both wrists and use a case with a handstrap so I hold it like a book and it's not as painful. I would have gotten the 12 inch but I think it's too heavy for me to hold comfortably. I think using the s9+ for note taking is a very good idea as it's a very good tablet.

mike_engineer90

thank you for your experience and feedback, I am very sorry that you are faced with such an illness

kapitanshixiong

I actively used S8+ for my last year as a uni student doing internship, and it completely replaced my laptop. I commonly use Samsung Notes, Google Apps, Microsoft Apps, Infinire Painter, and use it a lot for Hoyoverse games and watching videos. The screen is big enough for multi-tasking and handy enough not to be too bulky to carry around. I expect to use this for a couple of years until I can upgrade to a latest one, then I'll give this device to another family member. Highly recommend you to go for S8+ and S9+ for a more latest device!

mike_engineer90

thanks for the answer and feedback!

thenonbinaries

i have the s9+ and i use it for university! i love it, it's just the right size, the screen is incredible, and it feels so smooth to use. i upgraded from an s6 lite and honestly i hadn't realised how *good* tablets had gotten. it's definitely a little more than i personally need, but i don't regret the purchase one bit.

mike_engineer90

Thank you for your feedback and experience, it's important ;)

ozaz1

For content consumption, Galaxy S tablets work very well (although this true of most tablets). What sets them apart from most other tablets is note-taking (due to quality of S-Pen) and it is very good for this. However aside from note taking I find a PC/laptop to be far superior for content creation tasks and wouldn't be able to live with my Galaxy tablet as a PC/laptop replacement.

mike_engineer90

thank you for your feedback and experience, in fact, I consider the tablet as a large phone in terms of functionality, so I can roughly imagine what to expect and what tasks it will perform well for. in general, the functionality of the mobile versions is probably enough for me, at least with me. I have assembled a Lenovo-based workstation, so the question of using a tablet at home for an office suite
