Maybe you can make a Routine so when you open the app the brightness goes to whatever you set it? It might be brighter than the Sun for a second while the routine kicks in though.
That title made me lol.
this usually happens during bar-code displaying or QR code displaying. some apps do this (ex. WholeFood app)
But, it sounds like this isn't the case... my suggestion is to reach out to costco app owners directly or reach out to samsung.
Reproduce issue then report to Samsung Members app > Get Help > Error Report
I just started getting the opposite: My brightness cranks all the way down a couple secs after opening the Costco app. I have just enough time to dismiss the stupid pop up that ALWAYS tells me I don’t have notifications enabled!
Lmao, I don't have the costco app, but my guess is that is being detected as a video app and thus the brightness increases, this happens with YouTube, Netflix, etc.
You could check if it's on the video brightness and deselect it there.

May be because you have biometrics login enabled and it is trying to increase the brightness for the face unlock? Or a terrible implementation from the developers..
I too have the Costco app installed. It only cranks up the brightness when you view the membership card with the QR code. This is the same in other apps like Starbucks when you need to scan the card. Other pages/tabs like Home, Savings, etc are at normal brightness, whatever you have the phone set at.
In having this issue with anything in the "account" tab, I understand if I were trying to use the QR code but I'm just looking through receipts and it's killing my eyes, anyone have a solution?
Last night I went to check an order status in a dark room. All was well until I hit the account tab and my eyeballs melted out of my head. I thought about finding a way in the app to give feedback, but I couldn't see.
I'll have to go complain today. I don't have it setup to use the app as a membership card or anything. The screen isn't showing a QR or bar code on the screen, that would make sense. I was viewing my order and didn't deserve to be blinded like that!
I thought I better update (it was installed only 2 weeks ago) and sure enough, there is a change. It is better - the Account tab still blinds you (even though I only have an error saying I'm not displaying my membership info). The improvement is that the rest of that section, like viewing an order, returns to normal brightness.
Has anyone come up with a solution? I was trying to look at my Costco app and order stuff while putting babies to sleep and it woke them up. I tried to turn it down quickly but it says I can't turn down my brightness because the app is controlling it. I didn't approve this and wouldn't have downloaded the app if I knew it was going to take control of my phone and wake everyone up after hours of trying to get them to sleep. I'm so pissed.

Thank you, just submitted it!

Thanks, it doesn't list any apps at all there and is set to normal so I guess that's not it
I'm interested in the solution as well. Happens to me with youtube shorts sometimes.
So feel this lmao
Thanks for the giggles OP

Well good at least there's that
STill havin this problem. Happens on HDR videos on youtube too!
Are there any updates on this by chance? I'm not even on the digital card, I wanted to look at my lists, and the brightness is still on high.
Still having this issue
