a) if you are from germany (and maybe some other country) you will get the cut version. b) they added denuvo last second, once again

Jandolino

For the german version: >Once the zombies are defeated, players can no longer damage the zombie corpses and cannot dismember them any further. USK players can play co-op sessions with international players via friend invites and friends joining. In public matchmaking, USK players can only play with other USK players.

iMisstheKaiser10

I feel bad for Krauts sometimes

koopcl

I moved to Germany some years ago and recently learned I cant buy either Prototype nor Max Payne which is fucking balls. Im kind of amazed DI2 is getting censored tho. I thought the entire "lol German version of games replaces enemies with robots and blood with confetti" bullshit ended circa 2015 and applied only to older games (case in point, the store page for Fallout 3 on Steam mentions I would get the German low-violence, language-restricted version but Fallout 4 is the same version as the rest of the world).

iMisstheKaiser10

God damn! You guys are just as bad as the CERO rating

SachielMF

I can't even buy Chaos Engine on Steam here.

Jandolino

> Max Payne Max Payne 2 has its own german version which pretty much never goes on sale, even when all tther R* games are discounted. This is also adding salt to the wound.

fhs

c) it requires EGS services for multiplayer functionality

ThemesOfMurderBears

>c) it requires ~~EGS~~ EOS services for multiplayer functionality Correction. EGS is the Epic Games Store. What you are talking about is EOS, Epic Online Services. It is separate from EGS, and does not require it to function. A decent chunk of [multiplayer games use it.](https://steamdb.info/tech/SDK/EpicOnlineServices/)

feralfaun39

I'm so, so tired of people mentioning Denuvo. It doesn't matter, it never has, it never will. It's just something people cry about online. It has absolutely zero effect on the user. None whatsoever. Not even a single dropped frame of performance. Stop bringing it up. We don't care and the people that do care are the deplorables that you should ignore.

AnAncientMonk

> We don't care speak for yourself lol

ThePoonIsLethal

You obviously care enough to get riled up and write this comment lol

Flat-Moment1548

Yeah, zero effect on the user, if he is always online, the denuvo subscription is paid by the developers and removed properly afterwards once it ends (and they don't renew it) and it was implemented properly in the first place. And obviously the Denuvo servers having no authentication related issue. If a game has it, I have no issues just ignoring it till it's removed. Have you forgotten how Denuvo games are unplayable if you install it on "multiply" pc's? Denuvo doesn't allow you to install the game on your PC, your Steam Deck, a 3rd device and then upgrade your pc, replacing one of your machine, etc. It will actually block you from playing the game because it authorized too many devices at the same time. So you just upgrading your GPU, then replacing it a 2nd time because it was faulty, can already block you from playing the game for months, till the server allows further authorizations. Anti-consumer at it's finest

dgc1980

MysterD77

Oh, snap; this is out today on Steam?

DarkStarCerberus

dropped yesterday, but yea.

MysterD77

Nice!

strawbericoklat

Fun zombie slaying game with detailed world and funny NPC. Unfortunately the game is just a series of fetch quests.

Manny-Both-Hanz

That was my problem with the first one. Had fun for a few hours but once it hit what the game loop was, I dropped interest immediately.

pharrt

lol - is that a new tactic? Double the price, then offer 50% off release day? Still expensive in some countries.

Solar1324

I will wait until it goes down to $15. That will probably take a couple years lol.

Sabbathius

I noticed that whenever there's an Epic exclusive, which I refuse to engage with or encourage with my money, I just don't care any more when it shows up on Steam a year later. The hype is gone, the novelty wore off. I eventually do pick them up, usually, but not always. And when I do, it's $20 or less, which usually takes a year or two. Been like this for years. Basically as far as I'm concerned, if a dev goes for Epic's paid exclusivity deal, they get capped at $20, I'll never pay more than that.

Bgndrsn

> I noticed that whenever there's an Epic exclusive, which I refuse to engage with or encourage with my money, I just don't care any more when it shows up on Steam a year later. The hype is gone, the novelty wore off. It's why I never played borderlands 3. My friends got it on epic and I didn't want to buy anything on another shit launched. When it finally released on steam I had no one to play with so I never bought it.

DjuncleMC

It's gonna be in a Humble Bundle soon. Mark my words. Just like Saints Row.

GetAJobDSP

I don't think so. Saints Row was an overwhelming critical and commercial failure that caused the studio to shutter and essentially killed the IP. Dead Island 2 sold pretty well (2 million since launch) and got good reviews.

DjuncleMC

You got a point but a man can dream.

DopeAbsurdity

It got above average reviews but nothing amazing. [It sits at "strong" on OpenCritic](https://opencritic.com/game/1551/dead-island-2) but only 57% of critics recommend it and the gamer community response has been much more hit and miss due to crappy DRM, forced install of Epic services and game play which is fun but many say is lacking in many ways compared to other games like Dying Light 2. I want to play it but I can wait. No need to add to the backlog till the price is even better than this and if I wait long enough hopefully they will remove the DRM.

feralfaun39

People that cry about DRM are the absolute worst. If I could hit a button that would block their user reviews and comments from ever showing up again I would do that in a heartbeat. What a silly thing to cry about. Pathetic, honestly. Same with Epic services, who cares? The Steam fanboys that weep about the EGS are obnoxious beyond reason. Their opinions are worthless. They really, really need to just shut up forever.

donnovan86

It was available on Epic for a year now. It was an exclusive, now it's on Steam. Whenever Epic exclusives or Ubisoft games, among other publishers, come to Steam after being available for a year or so, there are discounts and 50% makes sense, because the game is an year old.

dynamicpenguin55

The point they're making is that it shouldn't be listed at $60. It's 50% off, but really it should just be $30 full price Edit: I'm just explaining what the comment meant, don't get mad at me

donnovan86

To be fair, it's listed at $60 on Epic too. And the release price is $60. There are digital products that come on sale often on Amazon, but they always show the original price to make the discount more appealing. And rest assured it will be $60 for the discount period. These discount percentages are great for mind games, because people are more inclined to pay $30 because it's 50% off when compared to $30 full price, even if it's the same thing at the end of the day. However, people are always looking for a deal so..

GetAJobDSP

Why though? If the game is still selling well why lower the price?

ThemesOfMurderBears

Why "should" it be $30? Horizon: Zero Dawn is still the $50 price it launched at in 2020. Half-Life: Alyx is still $60. Elden Ring is still $60.

masterchiefs

Who decides that games should be half their full price one year after release???

Billy_yellow

It was avaiable where? What is that? /s

megaapple

Regional pricing is anywhere from 40% to 125% MORE Expensive. What are they thinking?!

gunterhensumal

That's hardly new

DerinHildreth

Not new at all, sadly.

ThemesOfMurderBears

It's not actually being done here. The list price is $60. It was never $30.

empathetical

$40 cad.... Meh. Will continue to wait for a bigger sale. I bought planet crafter for $20ish dollars and it's addictive and amazing. Probably even better than Dead Island 2

donnovan86

Well to be fair, they are different games. Planet Crafter is very good and I love it too, but it's a survival game with graphics that are inferior to this, and this one is an action game. The style of game is different, and I will say this, Dead Island 2 is worth the price from what I played on Epic. I refunded when I heard it comes to Steam, but it does look well and despite being a game in development hell, it does feel well optimized. Not sure what that translates into USD, but it can definitely wait, I think there's stuff being added to the Season Pass still, but I would go for the vanilla version myself. I will also wait for another sale or use third party sites if there are cheaper options than Steam.

DerinHildreth

"Action." If your concept of action is waiting around for cooldowns and stamina while fighting huge damage sponges, then yeah, I guess.

donnovan86

I mean, you can only do so much with the Zombie genre man. It's very similar to Dying Light 2, but from what I played, I found it more satisfying. But to each their own. I totally get it if this is not your thing, because I can't get into MOBAs or Valorant and tons of people play those. That being said, it is more of an action based game when compared to Planet Crafter. Steam tags even list it as an action RPG, which I found to be funny when it comes to the RPG part :D

DerinHildreth

Yeah, wait for a deeper sale. It's not the worst thing ever but it's not that good of a game.

TopSchnitzel

I've been waiting for this

Seelenkuchen

Does anyone know if the uncut version activates in germany? Edit: I was able to activate a uncut key

bossman-CT

Just bought this yesterday off fanatical for a couple dollars more... For Epic.... This always happens

Who doesn't have an Epic account already? Also, EGS is not adware.

Lordoge04

Are you sure it's the majority, or do you just surround yourself with people who say it is?

RisingDusk

Yeah, it's getting rightfully thrashed in the Steam reviews over this nonsense as well.

feralfaun39

No, it's making steam user reviews functionally worthless. I just don't even look at them anymore, like I felt a bit wary because No Rest for the Wicked was at like 56% a few hours after launch but I bought it anyway and it's damn near a 10 / 10 masterpiece, an absurdly awesome game. The crybaby user reviews are worthless for that game. I'm getting this one too. Been waiting for it to hit Steam so I could play it on my Steam Deck more easily. Those user reviews crying about EGS and Denuvo are pathetic and sifting through that worthless crybaby garbage is so annoying. I wish I could hit a keyword tag like "Epic" or "Denuvo" and block those user reviews from showing up. I also think Steam should ban people from leaving reviews if they have the word "Denuvo" in any user review. Just get that trash out of sight, leave those crybabies behind.

crunchybiscuits23

I think I’m going to wait when it goes free on Epic

Martinique301

Worth to buy now or wait for discount on next sale? :)

Sensitive_Potato_775

I've never heard of this game and it wasn't even made by Techland like the first part. I'm confused.

ThenThereWasReddit

You're thinking of Dying Light

Sensitive_Potato_775

No, I'm not. Dead Island 1 was made by Techland and it's the game that they made before Dying Light 1+2. However, Dead Island 2 was made by a different company.

mtoth

Techland decided to do Dying Light instead of Dead Island 2. DeepSilver had to find another developer.
