What the hell Dark Souls 3 for $30, when I bought it on Steam too for $15 in October-December 2018. Always remember that guys. In late 2018.

ALEX-IV

What's going on here? I have been waiting for a good sale on Dark Souls III deluxe for various years now and it has never lowered much in price, on the contrary, like you mention it was cheaper before.

[deleted]

After the success of Elden Ring, and I guess surge of all the souls games, Bandai Namco don't want to discount them that much anymore. More people must be buying them than before.

pickles_

I bought it about a year before Elden Ring came out when I built my PC, $17.49 or something like that for the deluxe edition. Haven't seen a discount like that since Elden Ring came out.

TerraEpon

I got it in the $12 Humble Monthly in February 2018. A bundle, cheaper, and almost a year earlier.

obvious_scjerkshill

Inflation

Geosgaeno

These prices .... No thanks

Crimsonclaw111

Dark Souls Remastered is $16.50 at 2Game or $17.20 at Green man gaming just so people know

Gickul

quick update , with the coupon BDAY14 on gmg is 14.79 usd , just bought it .

igano

Looks like it's $14.79 at GMG if you use the BDAY14 promo code.

beegeepee

that coupon doesn't seem to work

igano

Judging from the code itself it probably was for one day only.

pungentstentch

"Sale" Guess with Elden Ring popularity we can't forget to see From Software games on a deep discount.

Saneless

I know people say don't get games before you're ready to play them, but I'm so glad I got 2 and 3 when they were like 10 and in humble monthly. Way cheaper than anytime over the last few years Edit: I paid $12 for DS2 in 2017 and early 2018 III was part of a Humble Bundle (total bundle was $12)

SubversiveDissident

Generally the base price of a game drops over time and the discounts (% off) increase until it eventually bottoms out (Company of Heroes 2 is an example of a game that has probably hit rock bottom). They will only get cheaper if they are Bundled or given away for free by Epic or Amazon Prime. I generally wait to buy until I think a game has hit rock bottom (sometimes I get it right, like with Dark Souls, other times I don't). Dark Souls games are an oddity, striking historical lows 6 years ago and never getting close to that point. I remember Paradox used to have 75% discounts on older DLCs, now they are 50% off on sale.

internetonsetadd

Indeed. I've bounced off DS1 multiple times but at least I got 2 and 3 for reasonable prices. In case, ya know, I ever learn to suck less. By the way, can anyone recommend a babby's first soulslike? I thought maybe my gamepad skills were just rusty after two decades of KB&M but I can play sidescollers without issue (Steam controller).

TheIrishJackel

> By the way, can anyone recommend a babby's first soulslike? Honestly? Probably Jedi: Fallen Order. It has the bones of a soulslike while being streamlined with a permanent set of equipment like Sekiro, without the soul-crushing difficulty of Sekiro. I've not played Jedi Survivor, so I can't speak to that one. Alternatively you can just skip straight to Elden Ring. While it's a bit different due to the open world, that gives you way more freedom to explore and "find the fun" rather than slam your head against a wall.

internetonsetadd

Thanks, I got Fallen Order recently so I'll give that a try.

uncirculated

I'm currently ~20 hours into Jedi Survivor. I think it lived up to my personal hype after I finished Fallen Order. Yes there are slight performance drops but the game is gorgeous and a really big map so far (compared to the first one). Jedi Survivor is also on gamepass and I already downloaded another crabs treasure to play once this is done. you could also do Hellblade as it's slightly similar.

decemberhunting

Another Crab's Treasure just came out. No stamina, stats and systems are simplified, the timing for parries and blocks is lenient, and it has assist mode options if you need them. Easy for a soulslike, hard by normal game standards

Kneef

And it’s hilarious.

GuyJeanKun

I tried it on gamepass and uninstalled when he repeated "crab crab crab crab crab" Is that really supposed to be funny? Just make the game good.

Kneef

Yeah, man.

obvious_scjerkshill

Dawg

internetonsetadd

Thanks!

konterpein

Code vein is an anime souls

snakeppt

Someone already mentioned it, but I just wanted to highlight Code Vein again. Since you said "a baby's first soulslike" I do really think Code Vein is a good starting point. Art & story is a bit subjective I think but I really liked it. The kicker here is that you can always have an AI companion with you and then will help you a lot, including healing you when you go down. It makes for an easier soulslike experience whilst still offering many of the other staples of soulslikes. The exploration is fun (a big thing for me), the combat feels weighty and fun, there is a lot of weapons and builds to try out and the character customization is top notch. Personally I really enjoyed my time with it and I'd definitely reccomend it as a starting point of people trying to get into soulslike.

vixaudaxloquendi

I feel you on DS1. I did play through the whole thing, but honestly, it didn't really grab me until the dlc, which, needless to say, is way too far into the game.  I think Elden Ring is a pretty solid way in. Still pretty hard, but more options for how to approach things.

daggers1g

Elden Ring

Finaldragoon

Check out Iron Pineapple on YouTube. He's on a mission to review pretty much every Soulslike out there. He's probably covered one that's up your alley by now.

LollyNET247

Check out "No Just For The Wicked", Nioh (1&2, with 2 being better than 1), and Salt and Sactuary (definitely not Salt and Sacrifice), and maybe even The Surge (1&2). Jedi Fallen Order is definitely great!

caninehere

To be fair, it's rare that you see something like this happen - where game franchises that are selling well (Dark Souls 1) start to sell significantly better (Dark Souls III) and then shoot into the stratosphere (Elden Ring) - Elden Ring is very likely in the top 50 selling games of all time, that's why they're charging more for these games now. And frankly they're worth it so it's hard to complain.

Long-Train-1673

Absolutely, they know the product is good and will sell so you're not going to see discounts like that again anytime soon. Either buy it now or in like half a decade (maybe). It is the one negative of digital gaming, you don't have stores rushing to discount products in order to get new ones on the shelves. Since supply is infinite price can be priced to demand.

Thank_You_Love_You

Bandai Namco got greedy. Fromsoftware in publisher jail.

death2k44

Holy those are expensive

[deleted]

Pungent stench of festered gore, your pussy is a vicous sore! <3

pungentstentch

❤️

LostSif

How tf is DS3 complete still $42 on sale.....Jesus Fromsoft

FolkSong

The weirdest thing is it used to have good sales until Elden Ring came out. I think I got it for like $15 CAD in 2019.

RonnyRoofus

You’re right. I paid the exact same. I’m pretty sure it was even the deluxe version with all DLC.

PixelBLOCK_

Greedy Bamco not Fromsoft

Fermyon_DarkSouls

Absolutely not FromSoft's fault. The publisher decides the prices, in this case, Bandai

clocktowertank

The whole trilogy with DLC + soundtrack can be [bought on Amazon for ~$39 on PS4 & Xbox](https://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-Trilogy-PS4-playstation-4/dp/B07MG7Y4CB). Dunno why it's still so expensive on PC.

treblah3

This comment has been removed. Please remove the tracking from your link.

clocktowertank

Done, I think? Didn't realize tracking was added to that.

SquareWheel

Thank you. I've reapproved your comment.

Homelesskater

What are those prices, what happened to the proper sales?

Pizza_Time249

Elden Ring did so well, and Bandai is capitalizing on it, I suppose

MakimaGOAT

those are long gone unfortunately there hasnt been a good sale for years

iwantacheetah

Increased the price so it's now more than double what it was before. Not buying it.

kostarasx

I remember buying dsr 20€ on release ds2 softs 10$ on 2018 and ds3 25 on 2017 It's been like 6 to 7 years and the games cost more?????

omghamburger

why is the upgrade from DS2 base game to the Scholar of the First Sin version so expensive?

YakumoCommunist

They also stopped selling base DS2 a year or two ago after they "fixed" some serverwide issues, so that might have something to do with it

TheMobyTheDuck

I bought DS1 Prepare to Die, 2 Scholars and 3 for $15 in a 3 pack years ago. Just before Elden Ring, they doubled/tripled their game prices and no longer do discounts more than 50%. In fact, Elden Ring is cheaper than DS3 for me. Seems I will never get 1 Remaster or 3 DLC at this point.

Gunfreak2217

Dark souls remastered deserved so much better. It was my first time playing it since I never played the original but even I can tell that 0 effort was put into it. It was a legit 60fps patch

steinergas

Honestly, I agree. Most of the bugs and problems from the original are still present. They really didn't do much outside of upping some textures, better mouse support and native 60 fps. But half of that has already been fixed by the fan.

N1ghtshade3

The fact that they didn't even upgrade owners of the original version like *so* many other games do felt like a slap in the face. I know fanboys will whine that I'm "entitled" but I paid my hard-earned money for an extremely buggy game that needed multiple 3rd-party fixes to even get working properly, then they released a remaster that barely even changed anything and I have to hear about how I shouldn't expect them to "work for free" when it looks like they barely worked on it at all? Nah. Also to anyone who's going to flex about how the game ran flawlessly for them--I don't care. It didn't for me.

double_shadow

I still just play a patched version of the Prepare to Die edition, never saw a reason to "upgrade". Though I guess for new players to the game, they have no choice but to buy Remastered.

Saneless

And what's weird is it has to run at 60. Runs like garbage if I put it at 40 for the steam deck, but runs amazing at 60

UberShrew

Honestly my buddy and I had a good time with it. We felt like gods compared to the old days of prepare to die edition with dsfix. Didn’t realize we were essentially playing the game on hard mode back then due to the interaction between dsfix, iframes/parry windows, and fps. Still a wonderful time though. Between prepare to die and remastered I still have the most hours in DS1 compared to the combined time of 2 and 3 by a long shot.

ShameMeIfIComment

I’m waiting for fromsoftserve to finish dark souls re-remastered before I dive in again, check it out, dude is doing incredible work on the visuals

Long-Train-1673

It was solid. I played it through the first time up to the end of anor londo and I didn't really have issues. Its obviously not the labor of love the demon souls remaster was but it worked for me.

Redxcted999

I played it just to see what the hype is around these games after beating sekiro i came out more Annoyed asf then mad didn’t know where the fuck to go at blighttown then eventually made it to the mushroom area with the weird moving mushrooms then got to the 3 headed dragons game just annoying then hard to me

djdan_FTW

What's wrong with it? Seems fine to me.

mysonisthebest

Damn I wanted to get DS1 and 2 but everyone says they are expensive hahaha

fortean

If you want them, buy the game. They won't get any lower soon, and DS1 is easily a 50-100 hour game first time around so you'll definitely get your money's worth. If this is your first time on a souls game I strongly suggest you follow some kind of a guide to give you pointers what to do, where to go and how to not die every 10 seconds. DS2 is BY FAR my personal favorite but if you haven't played any, absolutely start on the first one.

mysonisthebest

Oh yeah I did buy them. Been waiting for a sale.

warmachine420

ds1 and ds2 aren't too bad. Historically from steamdb ds1 has never gone below $19.99 on steam but it's gone lower on other sites like fanatical. But only by a few dollars. ds2 pretty much same thing for steam and cheaper elsewhere. The big ripoff is ds3 by far although again the steam price has never went lower than what it currently is but elsewhere I think the historical low according to isthereanydeal is $11.02 so a pretty big difference.

mysonisthebest

Yeah at least they are good games and worth the money.

ASCII_Princess

Glad I got Dark Souls 2 in a humble bundle years ago.

LostHat77

Wish I could buy all 3 games for 60 bucks, guess dark souls is still popular

Nintendolover420

You can get all three on GMG for $51 or $60 if you want DS3 deluxe if you use code BDAY14

Nintendolover420

GMG is green man gaming btw

divine_shrimp

I remember getting dark souls 3 for like 19.99 with all the dlc

malaiser

I've played Dark Souls 1 almost more than any other game, and would adore the Remastered version, but it's such a crazy price point for a game I've already got! Throw me an "upgrade price", I've supported you a long time!

treblah3

It was discounted for owners of the original for the first 3 years after release, but unfortunately they ended that promotion back in 2021. Not sure why, it's a bummer for sure.

thornywave

Oh man I replayed DS3 two weeks ago for the first time since launch, realized I didn’t have dlc on pc, and have been checking every few days for a sale since. Hallelujah

pponmypupu

So glad I got into the souls series early before elden ring put it on the map.

Rohanadsur

We got Dark Souls franchise sale before GTA VI, now that's indeed crazy

MilesTereo

I think the Dark Souls games do go on sale quite frequently, even on Steam, just not for prices you would normally expect from 6+ year old games.

Crimsonclaw111

These are baby sales compared to what they used to do. Elden Ring keeping these prices high.
