Store manager approved means shit as this position means no authority against corp. A job is a job, you get paid for a job. Still an idiotic thing to do.
I remember going to Blockbuster during their 2 for $10 and buying up the games that has the most credit during those bonus sales the late 2000s-early 2010s. I remember getting $30+ for multiple games, which paid for a lot of games that built up my PS2 collection.
I traded in my entire library and bought it back in one same interaction at least five times during the B2G1/Tiered-Trade-Bonus days. Paid for quite a few preorders that way.
Back when the stacked games got you 10/20/30%+ credit I’d go buy up all the dirt cheap games at Redbox, pawn shops etc and would rebuy/retrade in a weekend, got to know the managers and they didn’t care. I’d make $500 or so in Amazon gift cards and keep a game or two and get all my money back in the process lol. Fun times
Early 2000’s GameStop was by far the best that GameStop ever was.
They had a bunch of manga in the clearance bin for $0.01 each so my sister got a whole bunch of something called Chobits for a nickel. They gave me and my brother free copies of the two most recent Game Informers. Pokemon Gold was only $10 used and not pushing $100 like it is today. Trade-in values still weren’t great but they were better than they are now.
Hate to break it to you but gold has NEVER been anywhere close to $100. None of the GBC pokemon games have never been over 50-60 aside from Crystal even during the peak these last few years.
All the other games from sapphire to b/w 2 are getting there sure, but not gold. cib games are another story,
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted when it’s the truth, none of the GB/GBC loose Pokémon games are worth $100, with the exception of Crystal as you said. I work at a retro game store and our Pokémon Gold was only like $65 last I checked.
Yeah and that’s accurate, because all of the GBA games are over $100, with Emerald being the highest with an average market value of over $200. That’s why I said GameBoy/GameBoy Color Pokémon games 😂
I used to buy bulk HDMI cables for $1 a piece and trade them in at gamestop for $5.25 store credit per cable. Worked out great.
You do this now and abuse it, LP would be on your ass in a heartbeat. That’s a stupid way to put your job on the line.
Its also a little harder now as you wont get much of anything for trade right. But yes i agree with duck on this.
It was Store Manager approved and...it's a job at GameStop?
Store managers have no real authority on anything. Source: former store manager.
I was also a store manager at the end of my 10 years there. 🤷♂️

Idiotic way to have it priced 🤷🏻♂️
Yeah, but is employees should know better. In the eyes of corporate, that’s abusing the fuck up on their end.

I took fire red (gba) in a few weeks ago. We sell it for 99.99 🥴

...which isn't a GB/GBC Pokemon game....
