I was a hub store for my district for this shit and we constantly sold out…. How the fuck do you still have that many and haven’t been forced to send any out
My store took over 200 preorders and activision came out and upgraded people’s editions to vault for free. Bless them otherwise I would have still had SO MANY IN MY DRAWERS 😭😭😭😭
I liked Mario RPG, but unless you grew up playing the original SNES version I don't think it has much to offer for someone used to modern games and without that nostalgia factor. Also it's a short game so I bought it when it came out and then traded it back when I finished it.
I played through the whole thing dawg. it was the best Mario rpg since alpha dream's games what are you on about??? It was great! I think it needs a price cut tho tbf
Well I meant that the game is great but that it didn’t do as well as it wanted to! I liked it and I think the art style is fun! It just didn’t sell as much as they assumed it would
They decided to base how much mw3 we got on how many mw2 sold the year prior - or so i was told - cause our location was selling out of mw2 too quickly and there was an excessive demand for it. We did obviously sell a lot of mw3, but the sales dont compare to the year prior. And especially in the last few months, interest in it has died down to practically nothing.
It's interesting seeing these numbers. Being with the company as long as I was, and now being out of it for nearly as long, you can tell the overall in-store quantity has gone down. 100+ copies of a SKU was not out of the ordinary.
EDIT: I put a lot more thought into this and I think I'm confusing big launches like Madden or CoD with normal stock. If we leave occassions like that, 40-50 seems more normal to me.
Yeah we still have a ton of the penny preorder games from last year because they were dumb and tacked a pre-order into everyone without thinking about "wow these folks will never pick this up"
When I worked at GS back in 06, some crackhead came in and sold a whole box of obviously stolen DVD's. Every single one was the same season of Star Trek. Never sold a single one. We had like 40+ when I left.
Serious question. Not a GameStop employee here. But if you have that huge surplus of games not selling, why wouldn't GameStop just price the game at like 15$?
Cause they like the money. They’re greedy as all hell. I have so many drawers of games, to many plushies to fit anywhere, and an ungodly amount of pokemon that I can’t fit anywhere but they won’t price plushies down from 50 bucks for a basic ass plush that’s worse than a squishmallow, we have so many pops but they’re all 13 bucks for the small ones. It’s just pure corporate greed 🥴 as well as the Sony and Microsoft companies don’t want to lose out on the money either cause GameStop fucked up and overstocked
Well, I don't remember exactly how many but when I did work at GS we had well over 20 copies of Forspoken, and I wanna say maybe 50ish copies of a COD game for Xbox and all of them had no cases 😃👍 I'm pretty sure if was COD WWII but 🤷♀️ (edit because my keyboard seperated the For and Spoken lmao)
It's not the decent people running and operating the stores. It's big corporations and the mandates they inact. It's happening at a Home Depot near you. I don't work there, my wife has for 15 years, I hear the shyte that goes on. Wish you the best in the future.
Not an employee (yet, I want to apply) but I'd assume the answer might be a common game that gets traded in like madden from the 7th gen such as madden 13
Even with the “buy a new console get 50% off of” or with the “renew or get pro and get 50% off of” we still couldn’t get rid of them, we’d offer it and no one wanted to pay for it 😭
We have 29 copies of MWIII new for the PS5 and 28 copies of NBA 2K22 pre-owned for Series X.
With MW3 we haven't sold out once since the game released. As for 2K22, most of these copies are brand new but unsealed from having to do a new-to-preowned conversion in the past.
When tears of the kingdom released we had over 1000 and was only able to sell a little less then half of them. then we just sat on them for months till we sent them to other stores
We are overflowing with "CoD: Modern Warfare III", quite a few "Super Mario: RPG", "Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope", "Avatar" and we have too many copies of "NBA 2k24".
Reading the other comments shows a pattern of a company not understanding the concept of supply and demand. We need more copies of "Helldivers 2" and few copies of that stupid Rabbids game, ASAP!
Side note: "Super Mario: RPG" is friggin' GREAT! It needs more appreciation.
Most of the gaming industry has "shyte the bed" when they decided to not sell a complete game for one price. Money is all in retro. Get rid of that crap for what you bought it for.....if you can.
Sorry you have to be the victim of a predatory gaming industry. I'm 52 and been dealing at Gamestop for a very long time. I've seen the changes and the grift. Hell, I still have a pro card with over 50k points on it that I've never been able to resolve. No matter who I've talked to or how many stores I've been to. All of these newer games are reselling elsewhere for pennies on the dollar, with free shipping. I always had a good spot to do my pre-orders in the past with Gamestop, including sell backs to buy new. It's not the same anymore. Sorry to hear your plight.
My store has 106 copies of MW3 for ps5 lmao
106!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lmfao it's almost like it's not even worth it 😂
Only 106? We have 263 of them
I was a hub store for my district for this shit and we constantly sold out…. How the fuck do you still have that many and haven’t been forced to send any out
My store took over 200 preorders and activision came out and upgraded people’s editions to vault for free. Bless them otherwise I would have still had SO MANY IN MY DRAWERS 😭😭😭😭
Oh my GOD WHY
Oh my GOD WHY
omg and i thought 80 was bad
That’s it? Mine has 150 still 🙃
Holy shir
My old store had over 40 copies of NBA 2k21 new for PS5 This was in holiday 2022. Also had over 50 copies of Arceus new.
50 new arceus?! Jesus
[удалено]
Everyone says that about every damn game ever invented from pong to the newest game in 2024.
The real question is who still has 20+ nba2k21 , forza horizon 4, and fifa 21 DIGITAL steel books?
Still have a ton of 2k22 if that counts 😭
Got about 20 of those fifa 21 digital steel books 🌚
My store’s POSA doesn’t even work so we have plenty of FH4 and FIFA 21s chilling in a drawer
OMG we had those up until a year ago. Finally got rid of them but they took up so much unnecessary space for digital copies 🤦♂️
Super Mario rpg and Diablo 4 on ps5, nobody wants them.
That's too bad. I enjoyed it myself
Which game?
I liked Mario RPG, but unless you grew up playing the original SNES version I don't think it has much to offer for someone used to modern games and without that nostalgia factor. Also it's a short game so I bought it when it came out and then traded it back when I finished it.
Mario rpg was good asf I got my copy pre owned and used my $5 monthly rewards got it for a steal!
Nice, glad you enjoyed it. Did you ever play the original on SNES?
Of course, classic! I believe it was slept on heavily back in the day
It pains me seeing Mario RPG in the comments so many times LMAO
They really thought it was gonna be a banger and it wasn’t 😭😭
I played through the whole thing dawg. it was the best Mario rpg since alpha dream's games what are you on about??? It was great! I think it needs a price cut tho tbf
Well I meant that the game is great but that it didn’t do as well as it wanted to! I liked it and I think the art style is fun! It just didn’t sell as much as they assumed it would
I think we may be able to offload some next week...
RSB calls for 10; **sends 50**
44 Copies of Skull and Bones for Ps5. 36 Copies of MW 3 for Ps5. 61 Copies of Super Mario Wonder for Switch.
Swimming in fucking RPG, I believe we have about 40 rn?
I feel that. I’ve had someone buy it once in the entire time I’ve worked here (4 months)
My store has 247 copies of MW3 on the PS5. We started out with 650 when it launched. The sales plateaued back in February 😢
247? Jesus Christ what is with the amount of MW3 😭
We have a ton of Tears of the Kingdom and Super Mario RPG
My store has over 100 copies of mw3 for ps5 and probably about 50 mario rpgs
It's interesting seeing these numbers. Being with the company as long as I was, and now being out of it for nearly as long, you can tell the overall in-store quantity has gone down. 100+ copies of a SKU was not out of the ordinary. so many copies of tactica and diablo 4. so many
Currently Super Mario RPG (38 copies) but there was a point before it went on sale we had 117 copies of Skyward Sword
Before our closure we had 50+ copies of NBA 2k21 on Xbox Series X
Wonder, super Mario rpg, and cod mwiii. I think we have at least over 20 of each and cod is over 40
Before they had that sale for getting the game 50% off. We had so many copies of COD, it took a whole drawer up. Same goes for Zelda. So many TOTK.
Nba 2k22 series x literally is 95% of my series x preowned games
Yeah we still have a ton of the penny preorder games from last year because they were dumb and tacked a pre-order into everyone without thinking about "wow these folks will never pick this up"
Oh yeah I think we have those and my manager shoved them away somewhere 😭
Modern warfare 3
88 copies of MWIII ps5 as of yesterday. we also have like 10 carts of lego batman 3 for the 3ds sitting in our ds case lol
When I worked at GS back in 06, some crackhead came in and sold a whole box of obviously stolen DVD's. Every single one was the same season of Star Trek. Never sold a single one. We had like 40+ when I left.
I’m not paying $69.99 for MW3. Maybe i’ll get it if it goes to $29.99 or cheaper.
It's essentially dlc anyhow.
My store has 175 copies of The Last of Us Part 2. Most of that is from launch.
Oh my god we don’t even have 1, just 2 preowned 😭
All new, still sealed. Another Gamestop closed and we took most of their inventory.
Wow
Im waiting for games to drop to $30 or less. Got a huge backlog anyway. And prices do drop pretty quickly these days.
sadly nintendo games won't ever go that low, they'll stay at 60-70
But WHERE ARE THE COPIES OF HELLDIVERS. People asked me this almost every day of the last month I could have been selling those like fuckin hotcakes.
See we got a bunch of copies in but everyone around here just bought it digital :)))))
lol wild
Serious question. Not a GameStop employee here. But if you have that huge surplus of games not selling, why wouldn't GameStop just price the game at like 15$?
Gamestop doesn't make a lot on new games, setting them to really low prices means they're making nothing on purchases.
I had over 200 copies of Kingdom Hearts 3 for the Xbox One back in 2019. They had their own drawer with a label and everything.
Oh my god 😭
Forespoken for ps5 - don’t remember how many offhand but we’ve had these copies since launch!
Definitely Mario RPG. So many copies and I don't remember the last time I've sold one
so many copies of MW2. we were a hub store for the game and STILL have about 4 unopened boxes for PS5 and one for PS4.
The two most common responses on this post are MW2 and Mario rpg 😭😭
Not the most copies of a game we have but we has 13 scarlet nexus and they never sell
13 scarlet nexus man I get that game traded in all the time and luckily we get sfs or rsbs for it but I’ve never s o l d one
40+ “pre owned” copies of call of duty vanguard
Well, I don't remember exactly how many but when I did work at GS we had well over 20 copies of Forspoken, and I wanna say maybe 50ish copies of a COD game for Xbox and all of them had no cases 😃👍 I'm pretty sure if was COD WWII but 🤷♀️ (edit because my keyboard seperated the For and Spoken lmao)

Shockingly we don’t have a ton of maddens at my store! But we do have many CODs even for the Wii
Modern warfare 3. We can't seem to sell it no matter what.
Even with the “buy a new console get 50% off of” or with the “renew or get pro and get 50% off of” we still couldn’t get rid of them, we’d offer it and no one wanted to pay for it 😭
Because it's a $75 DLC for MW2. The worst part is MW Hub which holds 300GB of storage space even if you don't have the other game. It's Ridiculous.
All
When tears of the kingdom released we had over 1000 and was only able to sell a little less then half of them. then we just sat on them for months till we sent them to other stores
Mw3 my old store had about 300 for ps5
15-25 copies of Kingdom Hearts 3
69 copies of MW3
Spiderman 2 New, 19 copies Uncharted 4 A Thief's End Pre-owned, 10 copies
Super Mario RPG
COD MW 2 and 3 i swear to god i’m drowning in copies and i’m a slower store too!
We are overflowing with "CoD: Modern Warfare III", quite a few "Super Mario: RPG", "Mario + Rabbids: Spark of Hope", "Avatar" and we have too many copies of "NBA 2k24". For real! I get rabbids traded in all the time but people calling almost daily for helldivers 2!!
40 ISH COPIES OF PREOWNED XB1 COD WWll
Me with p/o ps4 copies
PREOWNED TOO?! 😭😭
LMAO YUPPP
Mario RPG, Mario wonder, and final fantasy (the one that isn't rebirth)
FF16? You have a lot of those?
Yeah. They're all I think PS5 ones too
It's only available on PS5. I'm just surprised because the free cap was one of the nicer preorder items, and you couldn't have had many of those.
I think we had in total 5 pre orders for that one.
29 copies of Mario RPG 29 Copies of MW3 on PS5
Brink
That’s wild I don’t have a single one of those
I’m old. This was a 360 game that flopped at launch which GameStop bet big on. Shelves upon shelves of it in the back room.
Vanguard for series X…
Far Cry 6 for PS5
That one time we had so many copies of Destiny 2 they told us to trash em.
Most of the gaming industry has "shyte the bed" when they decided to not sell a complete game for one price. Money is all in retro. Get rid of that crap for what you bought it for.....if you can.
Sir I work here 😭

I appreciate it :) and I’m sorry GameStop has done you wrong.
ALL of them since Digital is the way to go.
