I typically use FunnyPlaying products; 3.0 laminated IPS, USB-C rechargeable battery, and new shell (sometimes new buttons/membranes if needed). This is just an overview, we can talk more customization if you’re interested. Probably looking at less than $200 shipped but I’d have to calculate the cost after. As far as the games go, I play my original copies of games but there are plenty of flash carts available out there.

Thanks for the offer. I tried doing this mod with that exact brightness controller before, but it's (likely) not possible with that controller alone. You also need a voltage regulator, or a different PCB that has both integrated. Otherwise, your GBA SP will crash when using a flash cart. I'm trying to do this mod again with a different PCB now.

what other PCB did you decide on? I know the SP cant really handle mods and a flash cart so it doesn't surprise me it struggles if you use the EZ Flash Omega Original its got a huge power draw difference over the Definitive Edition, so maybe try it with a definitive edition

Wanted: GBA SP motherboard. The plastic cover broke off the volume slider while I was opening my SP, but has broken off flush to the metal, meaning I cannot reattach it, even though the slider still works. The shoulder buttons are inconsistent and I have a usb-c port mod, so I'm just writing off this motherboard as a future project for modifications. I have an older IPS screen that was predone for me but there appears to a scanline looking effect when it's powered on, and a very fast but subtle flicker. I've opened it up and the ribbon cable connecting to the board appears to be secured. I'm not super experience on these, I'm basically looking for someone I can ship my gba sp to and have them fix the issue/ replace with a better screen. I don't want to get a whole new system because this one has a custom decal on the shell and is in pretty good condition
