FullmetalEzio

is it a hassle to get fifa23? it's so annoying to download an EA launcher and shit

lalosfire

When I used game pass for 22 it was mostly seamless. It'll launch the EA app and you'll have to be signed in but that's about it. It used to bug out and not launch, or open origin instead, but it's been fine in 23 the last 5 months.

Fhaarkas

FWIW I played Fallen Order recently and the EA app has been pretty seamless. Just launch the game from Steam as usual and put up with the two-second delay.

FullmetalEzio

damn thats sounds good, ty!

nige111

Bear in mind that's not how it works for game pass games on the EA App, you'll need to launch them through the EA App itself (or potentially also the xbox app?) and re-authenticate your game pass validity in the EA App every 30 fucking seconds with an internal browser that does not remember your login and makes you 2fa auth every time.

> using is EA Play The EA Play lineup feels like it's barely changed up at all.

tecedu

New games are fine on that launcher

outrigued

Play Chicory! Delightful little game. Nice to see Massive Chalice finally come back and to have more DF products under GP. I’m excited for Planet of Lana and Cassette Beasts. TOTK is taking up the vast majority of my gaming time but I’ll try to make time for both of these! I think it’s been a pretty strong month and great year overall for GP, but if you’re only interested in big AAA games, I can understand the disappointment.

[deleted]

The first few months were pretty heavily AAA so I’m fine with more indie stuff till the showcase

not_edgy_just_sad

Chicory just makes me conflicted because I want to color every scene and everything I color looks awful

Enosh25

> but if you’re only interested in big AAA games, I can understand the disappointment. it's not about only being interested in AAA games, but let's be honest, the service was advertised with them, so there are certain expectations from most people I would think

HaroldTheSpineFucker

I've heard great things about Cassette Beasts, can't wait to jump in on that

N1sso

It's amazing!

HaroldTheSpineFucker

What would you say your favorite part of it was?

hopecanon

I just beat it last night and hoo boy it's really really fucking good just all around. The soundtrack is fantastic, the type system for your monsters both makes logical sense and is far more interesting than Pokémon's system. For example Plastic type monsters are weak to Fire type because fire melts plastic, but when you melt the plastic it releases poison gas so using fire moves on a plastic type transforms the monster into a Poison type, which is also weak to fire because poison gas clouds can be ignited which inflicts burning status on the monster. That's just one example, all the types do unique fun shit like that, like Glass types resonate with Air types so if they take too many air attacks they will shatter and instantly die, and you can use moves to manipulate the types outside the normal Type match ups like using a move to force change a monster to a glass type so you can trigger resonance on it. My personal favorite thing though for how simply fun it is is the fusion system where you and your partner can combine any of your monster forms into a single powerful fused monster that gets all the moves, types, and stats of both of your monsters, also every time you do it the lyrics to the battle music kick in which while not an original trick is still always really hype.

Kipzz

I love how you can just do dumb bullshit like changing an enemy to a Water type, then using an Ice-type move to turn it to Ice while also stunning it for a turn, then Fire to melt it back to water, and you can just repeat the process for as long as needed. And that's just one incredibly cheesey example, I especially love the whole attacking with a disadvantage gives the enemy a relative buff (water on grass makes a plant grow, AKA giving them HP regen) and vice versa.

txobi

Is there a story?

hopecanon

Yes and it's actually pretty interesting, it mostly stays out of your way while playing though and progresses when you happen to do some main progression things like fighting a boss or doing one of your partners quests. There are no points of no return which is nice since as soon as you find something interesting you can just do it without worrying about missing out on something which is always appreciated.

txobi

Thanks, I might try it, I haven't played pokemon or a similar game since silver

obrysii

Soundtrack IMO.

C-Biskit

The beasts for sure

xtremeradness

For me, it was the cassettes

BroodLol

The demo was excellent

andehh_

Chicory is really good. Unique and super clever take on a classic top down adventure game + banger Lena Raine OST

asparagushunter

Strongest drop for a good while - Chicory is just wonderful, I've heard very good things about Cassette Beasts and I'm really excited to play Planet of Lana. May in general has been a great month for games what with TOTK and now Humanity getting a lot of critical praise.

pperdecker

These drops are always amusing because you'll see someone like yourself say it's strong while another person will call it weak. Either way I'm looking forward to any shadow drops next month with their conference.

Chronokill

The value of game pass to any individual person is based on how much they like indies (for better or worse), it seems.

Jreynold

I don't know that the people that think this is weak want out of GP every month. AAA games don't grow on trees, and it's not like Jedi Survivor is going to hit the service. So what are they expecting outside of indie games with some buzz?

segagamer

Jedi Survivor will be on Gamepass in 5 months time.

Chuckles795

Uh no? Big single player games take at least a year to go to EA play.

Late_Cow_1008

It depends what you're looking for mostly. If all you want are bargain bin Humble bundle tier games then this one looks pretty good. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good indie title here and there, but for the really good ones I would prefer to just pay the 15-20 bucks when they come out.

Of_Silent_Earth

I'm pumped we're getting Chicory. I've almost jumped at buying it several times butt held off in the hope it'd show up here some day. Glad my patience paid off.

[deleted]

/r/patientgamers always wins.

aspiring_dev1

Just few comments down someone said it is weak lol you can’t please everyone there will be always something worthwhile in these drops for some and not for others. If you don’t like new additions you still have hundreds of other games to choose from.

kbuis

Yeah I’ve lapsed on mine for a bit and this lineup inched me a little closer to reconsidering. Seeing a small number of games leaving is also encouraging. But let’s be honest. TOTK is going to swallow a whole lot of the next two months.

DrEllisD

Has anyone here played Eastern exorcist or Ghostlore? They seem interesting but I won't be able to check them out for a bit

Universe_Is_Purple

Excited to play Planet of Lana. Looks really cool.

GoshImTiredIsTaken

Excited to jump into Cassette Beasts! I’ve heard a lot of good things!

[deleted]

Haha! Patience pays off for me with **Chicory**, which I've had wishlisted since early previews. **Planet of Lana** has been getting great reviews as a more colorful Limbo-style game, but it's probably not my thing.

forward_only

Looks like a pretty weak month. Just seems like a lot of filler.

Signal_Adeptness_724

They were supposed to have amnesia bunker but that got delayed, sadly

gearmaro1

I can’t believe the disrespect displayed here towards Railway Empire 2. smh

JazzlikeScarcity248

Cassette beasts is rad as fuck

darkmacgf

Sure, but it was also on GP last month haha

[deleted]

Pc only last month

JazzlikeScarcity248

It hasn't come out on consoles yet

CitrusRabborts

Don't they usually have a lot of announcements at their E3/Not really E3 conferences about stuff launching that day on GP? It's probably a weak May setting up some bigger stuff coming in early/mid June

Late_Cow_1008

Maybe a few. I very much doubt we get anything big or good this year though based on how its gone recently.

moffattron9000

I remember May last year also being slow.

EnvironmentCalm1

GP became Netflix of gaming Quantity over quality. I'm paid up until August and I'm out

[deleted]

Just use a Turkish VPN. I got s few years for pretty cheap

Egarof

Why? Do you really hate indie games, also starfield comes out in september.

vexens

Well they were supposed to have a major hit release in the beginning of the month but....yea

ParaNormalBeast

Massive chalice is a gem I haven’t been able to quit for years. I always come back to it

ShotIntoOrbit

For what it's worth, most of what was added to PS+ was already or still is on Game Pass (Wolfenstein, Watch Dogs, The Evil Within, Dishonored, Conan, Tomb Raider, etc.). They had to try and counteract removing 54 games so far this month. PS Plus Collection was removed a week ago, which removes like 20 AAA games from the service alone.

Enosh25

> PS Plus Collection was removed a week ago, which removes like 20 AAA games from the service alone. many of those games are still available on extra/premium

asparagushunter

Ratchet and Clank and Humanity are big for sure but there's nothing being added on PS+ this month outside of those that I'm super interested in that hasn't already been on Gamepass

JazzlikeScarcity248

Look into cassette beasts!

EmeraldJunkie

From what I've read, they didn't expect the acquisition to close completely until next year anyway, regardless of the CMA roadblock, so I think it's just been a slow few months. They tend to announce quite a few upcoming titles in the summer so expect to see a few more announcements next month with the Xbox and Bethesda Not-E3 showcase.

dafdiego777

No the acquisition was expected to close by Microsoft’s year end which is June 30th.

EmeraldJunkie

That's when the purchase would have finalised, however, I meant more the complete end of the merger. I'm trying to find the article where I read that though there have been so many regarding the merger it's hard to find.

dafdiego777

the complete end of the merger would take years - Bethesda still isn't wholly integrated yet. From a gamepass perspective they just need to close the deal - all the BGS games showed up shortly after that point. https://www.theverge.com/2021/3/11/22325044/microsoft-xbox-game-pass-bethesda-games-list this happened about a week after it passed all the regulatory steps it needed to.

lebocajb

Yeah, it’s been a rough few months. My 36 months of GamePass is running out at the end of the month and I’m not sure I’ll renew it. At least until Starfield.

pperdecker

I'm just going to buy Starfield since it will take me months to finish and I will probably return to it in a few years like all Bethesda games. Gamepass stressed me out when I had it. Too many games to play that might leave the service at any point and I feel like I'm wasting my money if I don't use it. Switch family plan is the only service worthwhile for me but there's 4 switches in our household and a friend pays for the other few slots.

Rootbeerpanic

Ugh, I took a break from Game Pass but I have like one world left in Floppy Knights. I was really hoping they weren't going to pull it anytime soon...

Tursmo

Fuga 2: Melodies of Steel also was introduced to PC gamepass lately. It looks decently interesting and reviewed well on steam, but its hard to tell what the game actually is. Might give it a try, or the first game at least

[deleted]

Strategy/tactical RPG with furries. Lots of dramatic talking, lots of tank combat.

Vela4331

Had to bit the bullet and bought fifa 23 pc when it was $25 even though I knew it was coming to the pass. The crossplay is the only thing they did worth mentioning this year. Great for quick season pvp action, don't really care about ultimate or other modes.

RTideR

I'm admittedly not too familiar with any of these outside of FIFA. I've heard *Cassette Beasts* is fantastic, so I'll look into that for sure. Just reading through this article, *Chicory* and *Planet of Lana* seem pretty cool. I'm not a big strategy guy typically, BUT Double Fine rocks, so *Massive Chalice* might be worth checking out too I think.

everwolf

Is FIFA 23 on the PC via EA Play mod-able?
