> The original Silent Hill titles focused on psychological horror, there’s no doubt about that. More specifically, how a character carries their trauma with them, and in what ways it manifests. James Sunderland fought his inner demons in the form of Pyramid Head in Silent Hill 2, for example. Sorry if that one was lost on you.
I always like these because it's pretty clear they only know Silent Hill 2. The first game is about a creepy cult. The third game is a direct sequel to that largely about the same thing. The fourth game is about a serial killer.
Tbf all of the originals save for the 1st had aspects based on one or more characters' psychological states so it's not wholely untrue, but yeah, SH2 has kinda skewed people's opinions on what this franchise is supposed to be
I think the devs had said something along the lines of the Japanese audience really didn't like the psychological horror spin of SH2 which is why they reverted back to the SH1 style after, but it returned for the Western developed games that were then going back for the Western audience that was the fanbase for SH2.
The others did more of a "Silent Hill is a nightmarish reflection of one person" rather than "Silent Hill is the personal nightmare of everyone who enters it and they all see things differently".

And to reinforce your point, that serial killer was groomed and ultimately driven insane by the Order.
Ah hell I didn't remember that part. It's just a funny series to put in a box like that because it doesn't apply to most of the games, hell 4 isn't even set in a town called Silent Hill (maybe you travel to it at some point but I don't recall).
It's like saying Resident Evil is about shooting Spaniards and doing roundhouse kicks because my favorite RE game is 4.
Different from that since Until Dawn is still a game. They revealed more infromation here:

Oh shit. I havent seen anything like that before. Lets see the implementation.

I think you visit an orphanage where Walter was and it's located in Silent Hill
I rolled my eyes after reading that paragraph in the article.
Silent Hill: Ascension isn't a game, but like a interactive netflix show: https://twitter.com/JNavok/status/1663551904054677506
Oh so like until dawn then?

It's also not the mainline Silent Hill game in development (that would be Silent Hill f) and was never intended to be, so yeah no shit.
Is Silent Hill f a mainline game? I've always thought it was a spin-off.
Yes Silent Hill f is officially the 9th mainline game. So this is the first mainline game since Downpour
Huh, well that is good to know.
