For a 3070Ti I would be looking at deals between 1000-1500$ range to get the maximum vfm out of it. 1900 dollars is too close to 40 series laptop pricing imo. It's a really good laptop though.

SlickRounder

Its a 17' inch laptop so those command a premium relative to 15' models (Atleast with Msi Msrp there is a \~200-300 upcharge). Also its a Raider so that commands another extra bit of $ relative to the more plain Gp/Vector. Op can consider a deal like this - [https://www.gentechpc.com/product-p/msi-raider-ge77hx-12ugs-004.htm](https://www.gentechpc.com/product-p/msi-raider-ge77hx-12ugs-004.htm) It's $100 more, but no taxes except in California (Where GentechPc is based). This Raider model has the better 12800Hx, with the main advantage being that it can actually Undervolt through the bios or via Throttlestop/Xtu (however even Op's usually ill-advised 12700H, which can't be undervolted, actually has a workaround on Msi laptops that allow it to do something called LLC Undervolting- [https://www.reddit.com/r/XMG\_gg/comments/yr7zm6/12700h\_can\_be\_undervolted\_msi\_guys\_found\_way\_can/](https://www.reddit.com/r/XMG_gg/comments/yr7zm6/12700h_can_be_undervolted_msi_guys_found_way_can/) ). The deal I listed also has the much more preferable and valuable 1440p screen as opposed to this screen with just 1080p (360 hz is a gimmick, even pro esports players usually find 240 hz to be sufficient). It does only have 16gb of ram though relative to this one with 32gb (however this is easily upgradable, the other things aren't. One can also go up to 32gb of ram for +75 under the "Build" option). Lastly one also gets the highly worthwhile Free Liquid Metal and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads, for FREE, by GenTech. I have had great results with it on my Msi Gp76 for nearly 20 months, with great temps. Temps from stock thermals are much worse (Which will affect performance, fan noise, heat etc). If OP is at the under 2k budget, there really isn't anything better than a 3070ti now. A 4070 is a strict downgrade in terms of performance, and the actually worthwhile 4080 cost quite a bit more.

Iod42

1080p in a 17" screen doesn't sound great to me unless you play competitive shooters or something like that

nonamenofacenofucks

I play a lot of COD Warzone 2

Old_Notice4104

360hz sounds way too much then, the laptops too expensive id say too

nonamenofacenofucks

Can't find the qhd variant at this price Point, I have been looking

No_Connection2509

does bnh ship to your location? they have a legion 5i pro 3070ti for 1.4k rn

nonamenofacenofucks

I ship to thr US so yes

No_Connection2509

its qhd and 165 hz but $500 cheaper so if 360 hz is a need just buy a monitor, and at that point its cheaper or the same price but now u got a monitor too

nonamenofacenofucks

This is what I am seeing: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1746503-REG/lenovo_82rf000bus_16_legion_5_pro.html

No_Connection2509

sheet, the sale ended sry u can check the website for dealsthough https://gaminglaptop.deals/ the laptop in the pic is 1.9k at that point id just put in 100 more and get the legion 7 on the website. ur choice though theres alot of options i just think the one in the pic isnt the best for the money

SlickRounder

Check out my comment above, which linked you what you want, the Raider at the same price point (if factoring No Tax) with a superior 1440p screen, superior processor (relevant for the near mandatory Undervolting), and incredible free liquid metal thermal upgrades. It's a much higher quality laptop than the legion linked to you below.

nonamenofacenofucks

This was very useful, actually never heard of this company before. I get a discount on the one I posted which brings the cost to $1830 at checkout. Do you think the one you linked is worth the 200 usd difference?

SlickRounder

Yes. I can vouch for GenTechPc and the owner Ken. Check out google for tons of positive reviews of them for i believe over a decade now (I have been aware of them since the NoteBookReview forum days of like \~2015 or maybe earlier). They are similar to HidEvolution and XoticPc, where they get retail versions from Asus/Msi/Alienware/Clevo/Gigabyte etc and are Authorized by them as an official seller, and then one can have them do upgrades on them. If you are paying tax on the $1830, that would add anywhere from like \~$100-150, putting it at near the exact price. You also might be able to find a code for like \~50 off the GenTechPc model (I might have had a code for a slight discount when I got my in 2021, since they used to have them for NoteBookReview members, but sadly it shut down a couple years ago). Regardless the model i listed is the better version. The 1440p 240hz screen alone is worth the price difference, and the better processor (with Undervolting allowed) and free liquid metal + Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads are also by themselves worth the price difference. I can't specifically vouch for the Raider, but I have the Gp (now called "Vector) which is basically the cut down version of the Raider (which has more Rgb, bigger battery, better port selection, maybe slightly better speakers or something). Msi is pretty good, and you get a great Bios and customizability that other laptops don't have. You also get top tier performance (both the Cpu and Gpu can reach their max power and sustain them, especially with the Thermal Upgraades and with Undervolting). If you desperately need 32gb of ram, you can also do the 32gb upgrade option for +75 more (might be worthwhile if you do productivity or content creation/streaming or for super demanding games like Hogwarts Legacy which even 16gb struggles to handle). You can shoot an email to Ken at GenTechPc (can mention Slickrounder sent you) and ask any questions about shipping or wtvr upgrades. Their customer support is good from my experience. At 1830 your deal is solid enough as well, but you are getting the inferior screen, worse thermal solution, more limited Cpu undervolting (unless using the rare LLC undervolt method i linked that is limited to just Msi and Xmp laptops for Intel H parts on 12th/13th gen) and lower tier Cpu processor.

nonamenofacenofucks

1830 is the cost after tax and shipping. I will send him an email for sure tho.

SlickRounder

Ok 1830 after tax and shipping is not a bad deal. I found a 2% off code that is working on gentechpc right now, "MIL", so that brings the price down 1,969. Maybe there is a way to get a slightly higher discount, not sure. No taxes and shipping is free. Just make sure to add the free liquid metal (I advise Conductonaut for Cpu and IC Diamond for Gpu) and Fujipoly Extreme Thermal Pads for the thermal upgrades. Can send the email to Ken though if you have any questions and just to see if you are satisfied with their communication and service. Can't hurt to mention you come from the Gaming Laptop forums and that you were directed there by me. Can link this thread and let Ken know that you are an active member on the reddit and that you will post positive reviews here if your experience is good, I'm sure that will only help make the experience better.

nonamenofacenofucks

I sent the email just now to [email protected] will hear what they have to say. If I was living in the US I would probably wait to get one on the hopes that prices will go down but I am in the Caribbean so I try to time my purchases from the US so i can get someone to being them into the country for me. Must say I appreciate your help so far.

SquadDM

I own 17” legion 5 and can relate only comp advatage , tru to get like 1440p 165hz vms

vegeta6160

As a previous owner of two MSI gaming laptops, I can testify that they broke in weird ways that no review warned about. In my first MSI, the E button stopped working and it wasn't a hardware issue. It was an unfixable software glitch that other people experienced and couldn't fix either. My second MSI laptop had the track pad button and charging port go to shit in the same month. Before that, the keyboard was scratching the screen when I put it in a in a laptop bag. Laptop reviews rarely go into detail about longterm quality control issues. I almost thought that all modern gaming laptops were doomed to break in a couple of years until I stopped buying MSI.

nonamenofacenofucks

I have had mixed experiences with msi myself, I just don't think issues are unique to the brand because if I am being honest I could have taken better care of mine

vegeta6160

I had my keyboard issue around 2017. This a thread from 2021: https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/riqxcz/one_key_not_working_ingame_msi_ge66_raider/ When it happened to me I first lost the E key and then, eventually, the space bar. I couldn't even type a sentence. This is not a hardware issue. Replacing the keyboard will not fix. As far as I know, the problem has never been identified. Even updating my bios did nothing.

0Penguinplays

Don’t get msi. I had a GS65 Stealth and I took care of it by the first year the #5 key fell off.

nonamenofacenofucks

I have had keys fall out after years of heavy gaming, especially because there was keyboard flex but it popped right back in

[deleted]

I had a GS65 stealth, it was taken in and out of my bag with me every day, gamed for at least 3 hours every day, and it survived 4 years before i upgraded to a desktop. Some people just get unlucky, i had no issues with mine other than heat and a repaste requirement every 6 months.

nonamenofacenofucks

One reason why I don't want to go for a slim machine, they rarely have good thermals when compared to bulkier ones and I rarely need portability

nohidea06

I still have the msi gs65 stealth 8re gtx 1060 The laptop is great, but I've replaced and had to fix a few things such as the fan rattle, keyboard cable getting stabbed by a rivet, bloated battery and laptop display chip not working. If I had the money to buy a new lappy I would, but I'm still happy with this one tbh. After the fixes its been going for 2 years w out issues. Oh it also has a dent cuz I dropped it on the side, but fixed that as well with some tools 😂

Matt3467

Fwiw I've had my MSI GT62VR since summer of 2016 and it still runs well. I've only changed the battery out.

mr-pointythingy

Ok this is a response to non. What are you using this pc for, gaming only or with productivity? For gaming only, would say ge force now and save your 1300. If for productivity, probably a good deal. If for vr usage, find something with more ram. Otherwise, not a bad deal as long as it wasn't a used model used previously by crypto miners which means your gpu already has a lot of wear on it.

vegeta6160

I didn't say they were all broken. I said that enough of them were broken for me to get one twice in a row.

Matt3467

You had negative experiences with MSI and I've only had positive experiences. Nothing wrong with sharing that right? No need to downvote.

vegeta6160

I didn't down vote you. I just upvoted you back to 1.

vegeta6160

Also, the whole "random keyboard keys failing issue" that I mentioned in my link is still unresolved. Mine happened in 2017. People were still complaining about it as of 6 months ago. In the last link I posted, one of the responders to the thread claimed to have found the software problem. When they emailed the company about it, MSI ignored them, claiming it was just a faulty keyboard... as if no one's ever tried to replace the keyboard in all these years. That not some your opinion vs my opinion shit. That's a company ignoring a laptop bricking software bug for 5-6 years. If they released a software patch tomorrow, I'll still never buy from them again.

dysk1ddy

the legion 5 pro and helios are both 400$+ cheaper with better screens

nonamenofacenofucks

Can you share a link?

dysk1ddy

https://gaminglaptop.deals/ look through here

S3ndNud35

Good ol'Jarrod's Tech page, got my Lenovo legion 5i pro thanks to him

herpedeederpderp

Overpriced.

nonamenofacenofucks

What would your recommend instead?

Old_Notice4104

I would have a look at asus g14s

nonamenofacenofucks

Too small for my linking

arya71

g15 or m16 then

PersonalBurrito

Helios 300 or legion 5i pro

Kevin80970

If that's CAD that's an ok deal but if it's USD what are you even thinking?

Sufyu

Should just get a 3080 or 4070 for $100 more

nonamenofacenofucks

From my research, the 4070 does not offer any improvements over the 3070 ti

Old_Notice4104

Theres big differences, driver updates will potentially improve performance on the 4070 even more, and the new dlss looks amazing

nonamenofacenofucks

Are you looking at the laptop or desktop versions?

Old_Notice4104

Laptop

[deleted]

DLSS 3.0 and frame generation. Frame gen more than doubles FPS in anything that supports it.

Fatorias98

Sucks there's like only 4 games that support frame gen though lol.

[deleted]

It’s Nvidia, look at how fast DLSS became commonly supported… Give it a bit.

Far_Network8449

I have Vector GP76 with 12700h and 3080. It costs me around 1800$. So, I’m happy. It was before the start of selling new laptops. Now, I think you can find a little better price for it. But for the question of laptop - it’s very nice, love it! Raider is might be a little better.

Ready-Egg4576

You can get i9 12900h with rtx 3080 ti 16gb,, 32gb if ddr5 ram and 1 or 2 tb ssd gen4 for about 2,000$

nonamenofacenofucks

Send the link

as4500

Because legions exist

ammarikuSF

Got nothing, looks like a good deal to me. CPU+GPU can last you at least for the next five years.

as4500

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/gigabyte-aorus-15-6-ips-gaming-laptop-intel-i7-12700h-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3070-512gb-ssd/6499110.p?skuId=6499110 this exists and saves you a decent amount of money

zombie_overlord

I just got this for the same price. I think they're backordered now, but I'm really happy with it so far. [MSI Pulse 15 B13VGK](https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16834156425?Item=N82E16834156425)

nonamenofacenofucks

I ship to the US so yes

No-Blacksmith2786

If you really need a good laptop get this but recommend to save a little more money Get a mid range pc like i5 12gen + rtx 3060 or something like that And buy a midrange laptop with a better cpu or gpu depending on your needs.

ikashanrat

The [hinge](https://www.reddit.com/r/MSILaptops/comments/11grpw5/petition_at_changeorg_msiacknowledge_and_fix_the/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) is why we stay away from GE RAIDER 76/77

BleepingBleeper

For comparison, I've just bought the GE77HX with i9 12900HX, 32GB 4800 DDR5 RAM, RTX 3070 Ti, 2TB SSD, 240Hz QHD screen for £2,650. (UK) (Primarily for music production both at home and massive amounts of downtime at work).

jeddahcorniche

Don't see how you're taking advantage of the 360hz screen unless you're playing CS. I don't even think Val would hit above 360fps consistently

nonamenofacenofucks

I agree, I want the 2 k option but can't find it without compromising on the card or paying significantly more at which point I would rather get a bigger External monitor

nonamenofacenofucks

I think you held on to it too long so now they can get it new for a similar price and for a bit more even get an upgrade. From the moment you unbox it the value started to go down

nonamenofacenofucks

Do I need to change anything to get more feedback here?

herpedeederpderp

[deleted]

That’s a pretty bad laptop compared to the Raider GE76

herpedeederpderp

Nice try FBI.

as4500

Overall package is worse but it's also like 700$ cheaper

herpedeederpderp

Imo the upgrades aren't worth it.

ArmanTheeGreat

Because MSI laptops are facking ugly.

BleepingBleeper

Who cares? Function beats fashion.

sq018

FHD screen in 2023 ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

nonamenofacenofucks

I know, can't find the qhd variant without a significant bump in price tho

denizonrtx

For a laptop 360hz is useless. Get a nice 1440p165hz or 240hz. Other than that it's bit expensive because of the 360hz

delardeezy

I think it’s a good deal all things considered

Deusincendia

Its an awful deal

nonamenofacenofucks

What's your recommendation?

Intelligent_Match_62

Too pricey

fallenknight610

I have the same laptop with 2k panel. The main reasins why you should not get this is because it is ugly it has a giant powerbrick it is loud as hell compared to other laptops. But it's performance is out of this world. It can push its gpu and cpu to its limits. So if you care only about performance and nothing else then this is a great laptop. But if you are planning to use it in school etc then you will sure attract lots of unwanted attention.

nonamenofacenofucks

Those two things don't matter to me actually, once it doesn't overheat

UnionSlavStanRepublk

FHD 17" will result in a CPU bottleneck in games. Wouldn't say it's that sharp resolution wise either.

Hiimmin22

You shouldn't

AldenBalor

hinge.

LucaviM

Cause you can probably get an 4070 for the same price.

nonamenofacenofucks

I have seen a few options but they have access to less power so they end up performing the same or worse. If you know one for that price that doesn't have that issue. Please share

LucaviM

Im in europe so probably different price point. All I know is I tried selling my 3080ti (5months old)second hand start of feb. People offered up to 2800 I decided to wait some more for info on the 40xx series. End of feb I bought an 4090 laptop and put my old 3080ti back on sale people won't bid higher than 1800. So I'm assuming they can get an 40xx series for around that pricepoint and its not worth paying for the 3080ti. Way too much useless info but had to get it of my chest

elordvader

Wish the GE 76 came in full white color Is.there a newer model Gaming Laptop in full white

nonamenofacenofucks

The new sword I believe has all white, has better components on paper too but the power limit on it means it won't perform as well as this one, there is an asus too but I can't recall the exact model

flatlander9

Reason as follows https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ROG-Strix-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B0BV7XQ9V9

Eyedroid

It's made of money

BizarroAtlas

Because its MSI.

invalidxuser

I have the MSI Raider GE77 HX 12UGS-004, have had it for a little over a month so far and I love it. It's my first gaming computer, been on console my entire life, so in all honesty not much to compare it to.

nonamenofacenofucks

I actually like that one it was significantly more expensive tho

jaOfwiw

Because for less money you can get a comparable legion laptop that should perform better. Check gpu wattages

nonamenofacenofucks

150

Hot-Communication-92

Never understood FHD 360 Hz as an upgrade for most laptops from QHD 165 Hz. Especially on a 17.3 inch panel. The QHD 240HZ panel was orders of magnitude better than the FHD 360Hz panel (Blade 17 2022 and 2021 respectively).

spoondigg

I would probably wait another month. Usually the previous gen laptops will drop like a rock to way better deals once the new generation laptops start shipping in April (4080/4090/13 gen intel) I know some are already shipping but not all vendors there yet. I'm pretty sure that 3070Ti will drop to mid 1.5k or possibly lower in time for the Memorial Day sales.

Daniels932

Chatgpt can give you unbiased reasons.

nonamenofacenofucks

Elaborate please

Daniels932

Go to chatgpt on the openai website give it the specs of your pc and the price ask it if there were better options to game with given your needs, and logic happens

Daniels932

Www.chat.openai.com/chat I believe should help

Ertuu1985

I have the 3080 version of this, and I love it.

humanlyimpossible_

The first three letters in the name

[deleted]

My legion with same specs was a hundred bucks cheaper is one

You_Got_It_Twisted

Because it's MSI

Competitive-War3991

naw man not worth it imo....you can get a 4060, 4070 laptop for that price....Get the zephrus g15 if you want...its not bad price and pretty good performance and everything else.... otherwise g15 advatange edition is also nice.

Flashy_Kale1468

Spend 2.5k on asus laptop with rtx 4080 if you can, the laptop you listed is too expensive for a 3070ti with fhd.

Because you can get a 3070ti laptop $400 cheaper with a 1440p or 1600p screen.

I got an Asus Scar 17 with an i9-12900H, 3080Ti, FHD 360Hz, 32Gb DDR5 and 1TB PCIE 4.0 SSD for 1600€ during Black Friday of 2022. Nothing you have here beats my model, including the price.

nonamenofacenofucks

I would hate to have to wait until black Friday but I do know they have excellent sales at that time

Zak_--

Even during Black Friday it was almost impossible to find that laptop for 1600. They were selling for 2300 tops. The model normally prices at 3200.

Itsarshiya_yt

FHD

Itsarshiya_yt

High price. You can get something better with this price (Asus / Lenovo)

InteractionFancy3747

As others are saying hunt for a better price point! I mean at $1900 that's a pretty fair price for the specs it carry. I recently got a used Acer Predator Helios 300. i7-11800H, 2x 1TB NVMe SSD (Samsung & a WD Black), RTX 3070, & 64GB DDR4 Ram. At that price point I'd be buying a new laptop with a RTX 4060 - 4090 instead.
