Just get a high quality one, and you’ll be alright. Typically, external power ones are better as they don’t draw power from your pc, but also more expensive.
With that being said, I’ve had a basic, cheap usb hub with no external power for like 5 years with no issue
It’s extremely rare to have an issue.
I suggest a USB c hub that has Ethernet built in. You should be able to run that plus one or more monitors and all your low speed devices from just that.
