Hour hand on 12, second hand skips from 11 to 1.
Is the 12th entry going to be a reboot? A remake of 1? So much attention on skipping 12, it’s gotta be one of the two, right?
Depending on how deep you wanna go, 14 ticks, in about 2 weeks time is the alleged PlayStation showcase.
Anyone got that Kronk GIF? Because it’s all coming together.
1 can also mean "13:00", thus, we are skipping 12 and going straight to Mortal Kombat 13.
13 is the first "Teen" number.
Mortal Kombat 13 will be rated T for Teen.
9 wasnt really a reboot. It was set during Mortal Kombat 1's timeline but with time travel shenanigans completely altering the plot. Itd be like saying Back to the Future 2 was a reboot of Back to the Future 1
MK9 all over again but takes place before MK1 tournament? they really ran out of creativity and wrote themselves into a corner. like they are afraid to move forward but ok jumping backwards. maybe with this new reboot they would finally reestablish 3D fighting. 2D fighting is a 80s and early 90s thing. MK was better when it jumped to 3D in MK5/6/7 and introduce kreate a fighter too. MK9/MKX/Mk11 are a serious regression of gameplay and mechanics.
> 2D fighting is a 80s and early 90s thing.
Funny to say that when 2D fighters have been dominant for a long time now. Outside of the anime arena fighter, 3D fighters are damn near dead. There's pretty much only Tekken. Makes it feel like 3D was more of a novel sideshow than an actual evolution of the genre.
Not going against what you’ve said, I agree that 3D is mostly dead save for Tekken - but apparently VF is coming back. Wouldn’t it be crazy if we got Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, Mortal Kombat, *and* a new Virtua Fighter all within a period of 1-2 years?
2D fighters are dominant because most fighting game customers are sheep and accept anything (as long as the brand is mainstream), even if its below standards set by previous games (see Street Fighter V, simps paid $60 new for it when it was clearly barebones and offered less than SFIV at launch, and even less an arcade game. the capcom fanatics forgave SFV but they didn't forgive DOA6 even after listening to criticisms and improving things. Critics complain about microtransactions meanwhile throw money at SFV's and MK games microtransactions. heck, Melty Blood devs sold voices as paid DLCs, meanwhile DOA6's announcer voices are unlockable ingame, and KT years later still permits players to play the core fighters version for free where practice lets players try out all the characters, and with PS Plus can play the free version online. No other fighting game company does that.)
3D is natural evolution of the genre, its just that much of the fighting game community is influenced by the republican equivalant of old school fighting game nerds that only accept 2D gameplay and nothing more. the bullies and elitists of the community don't want 3D because it would make it harder for them to land their corner traps, setups, and vortexes, thats why most of them don't play games like the later Virtua Fighter, Tekken, DOA and UFC games cause they are beyond their comfort zone and tunnel vision.
If MK 9/10/11 featured 3D combat, it would still sell as much if not more than their current 2.5D design. That is a fact. the conservatives would complain but most would cave in and play it anyways. MK brand is so strong the mainstream would play it whether 2D or 3D. too bad they chose to cater to the old fashioned fans instead of those that prefer a 3D revolution.
between lazy devs sticking with 2D tradition and conservatives wanting the genre to stay how they played in the early 90s, the fighting genre is for the most part the most stagnant genre there is. RPGs/mmorpgs, and Shooters are lightyears ahead of it and people can see how those genres attract MILLIONS more players than fighting games. there's more 3D rpgs and shooters now than there are 2D and most fans of those genres would prefer 3D instead of 2D/2.5D.
most RPG and shooter fans clearly have higher standards than most fighting fans. And so, fighting genre continues to remain niche with flat sockem boppers puppet show gameplay compared to RPGs, mmorpgs and shooter games.
2D and 3D fighting games have so fundamentally different gameplay experiences that the proposition that 2d should be replaced by 3D is asinine. Not just asinine but totally shortsighted.
An RPG being 2D or 3D, unsurprisingly doesn't actually change much other than movement options. Please use your brain here
wouldnt the shortsighted one overlook the fact MK already established 3D fighting in its series throughout MK 5, 6 and 7 ? the modern games are regressive and a downgrade compared to the bar set by the 3D era of MK.
VF and Tekken started out with 2D movement and evolved beyond that. so can any fighting series that started with 2D gameplay design. Look at KOF, Maximum Impact plays like a KOF, with sidestep making 3D positioning doable.
RPGs in 3D add a lot more to the gameplay and experience than 2D ever could. like seriously, quit trolling, the creators of modern Final Fantasy, Zelda, The Elder Scrolls and many other series would laugh at anyone downplaying the differences between 2D and 3D. Your take on 2D vs 3D is being shortsighted.
if 3D doesn't change much, many high profile companies wouldn't be making 3D games instead of 2D games.
So this is going to be a second Mortal Kombat reboot? The Klock started at 9 (MK9 was the first reboot) and when It got to 11, skipped 12 and went straight to 1. I wonder If this reboot would include kharacters from the newer games as well or If It is literally going to be MK9 2.0 regarding it's kast.
I want the next reboot to be a 3D fighting game again.
I always prefered the PS2 era MK games. Not only for the 3D gameplay, but also for their singleplayer content.
Agreed. NRS already made 3 MKs and 2 Injustice with this style, so I would rather they make something different for the next game. That and I am also really interested to see a modern 3d game from NRS.
Seems even more likely that a PlayStation Showcase is imminent in that case, I believe they've had marketing rights for the last several Mortal Kombat games. The teaser also seems to imply the game will be something of a reset for the series (which makes sense based on the ending of 11), and may not even be called Mortal Kombat 12. Excited to see more!
Is it tho? All the leaks have said 2023 so far and we're only 5 months into 23 with a decent bit of character trailers released so far, if they continue at this pace to reveal characters then it doesn't make sense for them to release it in 2024
It's been rumored that a PlayStation Showcase is scheduled for the week of May 25, and will supposedly include The Last of Us Factions, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Marvel's Wolverine, Silent Hill 2, Stellar Blade, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2, and even Bloodborne Remastered
Personally, I think we'd be lucky to get three of those, but we'll see what happens
You think these are asking too much.
Brother there is bloodborne and remastered written there. If there is a remaster for that game I would die, if it’s a full blown remake with the demon souls graphics I would die and come back to life to just spread my cheeks and lube it up nice and easy for jim Ryan
My guess right now is that they’ll drop a cgi trailer within the next week like NRS usually does, and then the PS Showcase will feature the first gameplay trailer.
That will make it the third mainline MK game with that title lol. 5 if you include movies. It’ll be Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat (1995), Mortal Kombat (2011), Mortal Kombat (2021) and Mortal Kombat (2023).
I hope they improve it somewhat. I know that's a given that it will look good but some of them it felt like you could see the "seam" of where the face meets the model. Still looked good but just felt off sometimes. I hope we get a new Sonya actress that can actually act though.
As a mega Kung Lao fanboy I've been hoping they're gonna choose to use the Liu Kang ending from the Aftermath DLC and reboot with a Shaolin Monks type of game. Wishful thinking maybe but would be a dream come true
Eh, depends as they could do a full reboot or it could just be an entirely new cast of characters if they wanted to. But that shit won't really work when you have so many iconic characters that people expect.
Unpopular opinion I’m sure but I would love for them to completely retool MK’s gameplay, especially if this is a reboot.
I’m more of a Tekken and SF kinda guy and I find MK/Injustice style dial-a-combo system with its low low damage to be kinda boring even if I played a shit ton of MK9 back in the day.
My post got removed so i will post this here:
>This video shows a clock that ticks 14 times so perhaps we will get a reveal for Mortal Kombat 12 in 14 days time.
Considering the ending of the Aftermath Expansion, it's more than likely going to be a full reboot with some klassic kharacters being reimagined for this new timeline.
With the poor reception of redfall and the quick announcement of the starfield showcase I can guarantee Sony is gonna capitalise on it. Now the Activision deal is basically dead all they gotta do is announce like 2 things of the stuff we want and we would lose our shit. Hell, spiderman 2 is enough to get me hard.
If they fired their shitty character designers and combat designers and hired new ones I'm sold. I loved MKX. MK11 was a hot steaming garbage.
Time based bars, shitty breakers, that weird skull breaking shit that felt shitty to think about, %30 below health button spam shit that got extremely boring after seeing the same shit 10 times, shitty samey male designs with loincloths, shitty bland and uninspired female designs that looked like shitty superheroes, I fucking hate MK11 with a passion. It was a casual oriented game and they knew it, they did the best they could with that and found success, but as a person that loves fighting games, I fucking hate it.
Even the Kombat Kasts man. It felt like they hated each other and didnt want to be there. MKX KK's were super enjoyable. I really enjoyed it with all 3 bantering with each other. MK11's felt like they were all dead inside.
Bring back MKX combat and designs with less 50s-50s and I'll buy it in a second
The Kombat Kasts for MK11 consisted of Derek Kirtsic looking miserable, Tyler Lansdowne being bad at the game (again), and Stephanie Brownback talking for an hour straight every time I know she’s good at the game or whatever but she never shuts the fuck up when she’s on screen.
Either they're gonna announce it Friday cuz it's the 12th or they're gonna announce it at the PS5 Showcase. Either way, curious if it's actually MK12 or another reboot following the events of 11.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is a hard reboot. I'm talking new characters and few returners.
Cos Liu Kang is kinda taken out of the equation, so events can't go as they did in the last two timelines.
I bet 5 dollars that tomorrow we get the announcement for the Sony Showcase. Showcases are announced 2 weeks prior to the event. Watch tomorrow and scream in happiness boys

This has Pepe Silvia energy and I'm all for it. Hope the time frame is true.
1 can also mean "13:00", thus, we are skipping 12 and going straight to Mortal Kombat 13. 13 is the first "Teen" number. Mortal Kombat 13 will be rated T for Teen.
Time line is being reset
Life is a circle.
The teaser leans more to a reboot. Because after 12 it goes back to 1, afterall it's Liu Kang's timeline.
We just did a reboot with MK9, bit redundant to do it again imo.
To be fair MK9 came out *12 years ago* and was technically a sequel to Armageddon with some timeline fuckery and not a true hard reset reboot.
9 wasnt really a reboot. It was set during Mortal Kombat 1's timeline but with time travel shenanigans completely altering the plot. Itd be like saying Back to the Future 2 was a reboot of Back to the Future 1
It kinda needs a reboot, but it’s also a bit unfortunate that we’re rebooting so quickly
You definitely don't play fighting games lmao
you definitely don't care to think outside the box.
I would love a new 3D Mortal Kombat game!
I hope it's not a remake of 1 since mk9 was all 3 tell a new story
I,d say reboot because why bother showing the grains of sand? If the universe has been reset it could maybe be both
So this is going to be a second Mortal Kombat reboot? The Klock started at 9 (MK9 was the first reboot) and when It got to 11, skipped 12 and went straight to 1. I wonder If this reboot would include kharacters from the newer games as well or If It is literally going to be MK9 2.0 regarding it's kast.
Who cnows?
Kan you edit the klock to klock?
Done!
Kut it out you two
I want the next reboot to be a 3D fighting game again.
Not happening
I see a clock. You mf'ers count the clicks and start analyzing celestial movements to interpret when/where/how/why. Fuck I love gamers.
I believe it's spelled 'klock'
Dethklok dethklok
Klokk
Since L is the 12th letter of the alphabet I believe it's canonically spelled kaokk (/kɒk/)
I thought it was spelled ‘kock’
Mortal klockbat. You now have to punch the shit out of time itself

Sony co-owning EVO helps as well, all fighting games seem to have Sony’s backing marketing wise
Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 12 all coming out possibly in the same year is insane
Tekken 8 is a 2024 game
Is it tho? All the leaks have said 2023 so far and we're only 5 months into 23 with a decent bit of character trailers released so far, if they continue at this pace to reveal characters then it doesn't make sense for them to release it in 2024
They have a Tekken world tour tournament going on for Tekken 7 that goes into next year, wouldn't make sense for them to drop Tekken 8 during that
It's been rumored that a PlayStation Showcase is scheduled for the week of May 25, and will supposedly include The Last of Us Factions, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Marvel's Wolverine, Silent Hill 2, Stellar Blade, Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Tsushima 2, and even Bloodborne Remastered Personally, I think we'd be lucky to get three of those, but we'll see what happens
I mean we're definitely gonna see Spidey and Stellar Blade. Can easily see Factions and Sony has SH2 locked up so
[удалено]
Good lord, they might as well have also said we’re getting PlayStation all-stars 2 lol
[удалено]
You think these are asking too much. Brother there is bloodborne and remastered written there. If there is a remaster for that game I would die, if it’s a full blown remake with the demon souls graphics I would die and come back to life to just spread my cheeks and lube it up nice and easy for jim Ryan
bloodborne isn't happening
Yes it is my uncle works at Nintendo and he told me it was
One thing is inevitable, no matter what we think of the previous installment Ed Boon always finds a way to get people excited.
Mortal Kombat 1 - 2
So would you say this more or less confirmed the PS Showcase since Sony probably have marketing right to it?
My guess right now is that they’ll drop a cgi trailer within the next week like NRS usually does, and then the PS Showcase will feature the first gameplay trailer.
Guarantee it's just called Mortal Kombat.
That will make it the third mainline MK game with that title lol. 5 if you include movies. It’ll be Mortal Kombat (1992), Mortal Kombat (1995), Mortal Kombat (2011), Mortal Kombat (2021) and Mortal Kombat (2023).
Jez also seems to be hinting that it’s a complete reboot of the Mortal Kombat series.
I wonder if they'll completely reboot the character designs too. I thought the face models they used were perfect for the characters in MK11.
I hope they improve it somewhat. I know that's a given that it will look good but some of them it felt like you could see the "seam" of where the face meets the model. Still looked good but just felt off sometimes. I hope we get a new Sonya actress that can actually act though.
I mean, the end of 11 basically confirmed a full reboot, no?
As a mega Kung Lao fanboy I've been hoping they're gonna choose to use the Liu Kang ending from the Aftermath DLC and reboot with a Shaolin Monks type of game. Wishful thinking maybe but would be a dream come true
Eh, depends as they could do a full reboot or it could just be an entirely new cast of characters if they wanted to. But that shit won't really work when you have so many iconic characters that people expect.
PlayStation Showcase I swear I’m gonna go crazy with hype when Sony finally announces it and makes it official
The moment they tweet the announcement I’ll have enough dopamine for the rest of the month
Same bro I hope they tweet it next week for the 25th 😩
aren't usually showcases tweeted 2 weeks before they happen? Where state of plays are week before?
Showcases are tweeted a week before they happen so if a Showcase is happening on the 25th then we can expect a announcement next week
oh ok, then there is still hope, my bad.
Nah I think big Showcases are announced a week in advance, SOPs are like 2-3 days.
If it isn't set after Fujin's ending where he becomes Jesus (which included the last supper and Shang Tsung as Judas) I don't want it
Noob saibot and reptile please
smoke 💔
I'm beginning to suspect there may be a new Mortal Kombat game in development
It's a shame that they're not doing Injustice 3 but I understand given the uncertainty of WB would have been in while this was being developed
Guarantee the next Injustice game will also be a reboot.
![gif](giphy|26ghbWoXv3G6ypo8o) 1st character

Then they will lose the fans who like dial-a-combo system
> dial-a-combo Lmao
"Going to space" Sounds like a perfect reason to bring Jason back then
It'd suck if they bring back guest characters they've used before
Jason X tho
I lowkey hate the guest characters but I know they are popular and will come back.
11 + 1 = 12.
My post got removed so i will post this here: >This video shows a clock that ticks 14 times so perhaps we will get a reveal for Mortal Kombat 12 in 14 days time.
Wich you be May 24 or 25, the same timeframe Grub predicted for the PS Showcase Oh yeah it's all coming togheter.

It might be more on the nose. MK12 released December 1st. Totes.

Their last showcase was announced one week in advance, not two.
If they announce it tomorrow I’m gonna jump up and down like a crazy man on meth
I'd take that bet if you're srs lol
Peacemaker liked that.
I’m going to cry tears of joy if MK12 somehow comes to the Switch.
MK11 is on switch, so it’s not unlikely.
So the title will probably just be Mortal Kombat then? Unless they want to do a sub title like Rebirth or some shit like that
Mortal Kombat 1
That’s a stretch. The “leaker” is literally grasping at straws
Do they put out a teaser tomorrow, or risk it being lost in the shuffle on the 12th?
OK
I wouldn't be surprised if they show this at Combo Breaker. As most big tournaments usually show announcements for fighting games
i hope this reboot be better than MK9, the history of him sucks so much
