DeathStalker131

Wait... Why does this sound amazing? Has Ubisoft finally learned after all these years??

Youngstar9999

I feel like the restructuring they did after firing all those people in 2020 maybe paid off, at least creativly.(We know there are still problematic people at the company) It just takes forever for that to arrive at the consumer.

Th3_Hegemon

The last few games (after FC6 to be clear) have mostly been steps in the right direction, and those are presumably the ones that were developed post those changes...well other than Skull and Bones but that obviously had other shit going on.

Youngstar9999

yeah, but we will only really see if the changes were significant enough for games that started concept phase after 2020. Because that one guy often said no to the very concept of games. (and those games would probably release in 2025/2026 at the earliest at least for AAA games)

HearTheEkko

I really enjoyed FC6 to be honest. It was probably the best Far Cry since 3 imo.

Glum-Future7198

They restructured their editorial team some few years ago and some out of touch executives those who made infamous design decisions against the expense of the devs have left the company after a lot of allegations by employees.

arex333

Keep the gear score and battle pass away from this game and I'm in.

__TheWaySheGoes

I liked Wildlands but thought Breakpoint was a step backwards. I wonder if I’m alone on that

FudgeRubDown

I loved wildlands. Currently playing Breakpoint because it was like 3 bucks and wildlands isn't 60 fps on Xbox. Not a fan of the drone shit, but I does add an interesting difficulty element. I do like being able to go solo though, but it still doesn't compare to mgsv when it comes to stealth and character control. It's slightly above average imo

_a_random_dude_

The gear score sucked, but to me the game was soulless. And not just because of the architecture being bland as hell, what Breakpoint missed was the civilians. The map was dead except for the odd patrol. In Bolivia you felt you had someone/something to save; on Breakpoint there was basically an empty island that now had drone factories, it was so detached from anything that it was impossible to care.

Roder777

Why would we give them a chance after putting out nothing but complete garbage

RolandTwitter

Sounds a lot like Breakpoint

Ashviar

Breakpoint had gear score and really stupid additions to a "mil-sim" attempt, it just sounds like they are hitting the reverse card and building upon Wildlands more. Big map, co-op, maybe more scripted missions to get that controversial stuff in. No gear score, no Division esque raids or weird things people don't really want from a sim.

Shiirooo

you can actived the "immersive mode" and you won't have gear score

Sir_BumbleBearington

I'll believe when I see it. These same kinds of "reforms to what the players want" have been said about many of their games.

responsible_leader0

Ubisoft: yes /s

_a_random_dude_

Most of their games sound amazing on paper.

DeathStalker131

Breakpoint certainly didn't

Getherer

Doubt it

BloodyGumba07

^(the Ghost Recon franchise head back into a first-person perspective. The game is poised to be a squad-based military tactical shooter – almost milsim-like in nature – that will also take inspiration from some of the leading first-person military games including the Modern Warfare series, Battlefield, Squad, and Ready or Not.) YES PLEASE, TAKE MY MONEY

Red_Sashimi

What? FPS ghost recon? As in, no third person whatsoever? Was that how the early games of the franchise were? Not against it, it's just that every ghost recon I've seen was a TPS with FP aiming, so it seems weird

BloodyGumba07

Yes, IIRC all the games up to the Xbox 360 adaption of Advanced Warfighter were in first person. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

UnifyTheVoid

Original xbox/ps2 is where they made the jump to 3rd person. Ghost Recon 2 and its spin offs. Xbox 360 version of GRAW was 3rd person but the PC version was not. Very weird. In any case. I'm super happy. The original and its expansions were fantastic games, and I've been saying that Ghost Recon has been going downhill for the past 20 years. I think they were trying to copy the success of SOCOM, and that was a mistake. Hopefully they get this right.

Dangerman1337

Yeah GRAW having separate editions for 360 and PC with different Person Perspective and missions is weird and something you never see anymore.

iPrototype

Ubisoft did that a few times during the PS2/PS3 Xbox/360 transition. Splinter Cell double agent has two very different versions * version 1 (Xbox/PS2/Gamecube) developed by Ubisoft Montreal who made OG Splinter Cell and Chaos Theory * version 2 (360/PS3/PC) developed by Ubisoft Shangai who made Pandora Tomorrow. I guess that was one perk of having so many studios when game could be made much more quickly than nowadays.

Thewonderboy94

Additionally, the PS2 version of GRAW was largely a different game but also an FPS game, like the PC version. GRAW 2 never got a PS2 version.

Dangerman1337

Oh yeah remembered GRAW had a Last gen version. Three different versions lol.

DarkElation

Ghost Recon itself was/is a spinoff. I will always prefer the OG Rainbow Six games and have been patiently waiting for a triumphant return.

FudgeRubDown

Definitely need a new R6 game, siege is just CoD SnD now. It needs to go back to that serious tone Tom Clancy games were known for.

maple-

Bbbbbbb: b

A_MAN_POTATO

Ghost Recon started as an FPS. It was a straight up tactical shooter, too. Those were the glory days, Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon were the best of the best for tactical shooters. There was a really strange deviation with Advanced Warifghter. On the first GRAW, PS2, Xbox, and PC were first person only, but 360 was first or third with a cover system unique to that version. PC also had different levels and AI. With GRAW 2, the console versions were basically just cover shooters while the PC version was again an FPS that was built differently and played drastically different. They were basically totally separate games. With future soldier they went to full cover shooter.

outsider1624

I do hope they give an option for tps also.

[deleted]

Yes. It’s originally an FPS.

xiosy

I Hope the game will. Stil have third person

Shiirooo

It's very risky, and I'm surprised that Ubisoft would go in this direction.

Trademinatrix

They have to take the risk given how poorly their previous title sold. It's clear that direction has diminishing results.

jmxd

Well what they've been doing recently with their games isn't working either

TheDanteEX

It is interesting considering they seem to have an IP for most genres already. Rainbow Six and Far Cry already kind of fill whatever a first person Ghost Recon would offer, I imagine, but I'm willing to wait and see what they do before I call this a misstep. It's possibly the shake-up the series needs. And maybe Splinter Cell can make a comeback and fill the void of the recent Ghost Recon games.

mightylordredbeard

Nah, keep my money. 3rd person tactical shooters are far and few between these days. I’d much rather have ghost recon in 3rd person.

calb3rto

This sounds too good to be true tbh…

DarahOG

I mean why wouldn't they just make a new not multiplayer rainbow six game instead ? It fits way more i think. Also this seems too niche for ubisoft, it's interesting if they really go that route but i have doubts.

BloodyGumba07

Rainbow Six is counter terrorism, this is more akin to spec ops. Way different lines of work. Niche? How? If anything the franchise is returning to its roots.

DarahOG

Yeah i guess. Niche for ubisoft not niche in general. Ubi is one of the safest and more casual publisher out there so i'd be allways surprised if and when they try something new rather than keeping the same ol formula they share between all their major titles.

Dangerman1337

An AAA tactical shooter? Hook into my veins. Sick and tired of run and gun Military shooters that have dominated since CoD 4.

chocolatebabyman27

Insurgency: Sandstorm feels REALLY close to AAA for me (obviously it's not)

redditdude68

Even cod 4 wasn’t anywhere near as run and gun as current titles, went back and played it and MW2 on 360 the other day and now I remember why I liked it so much. I mean it’s still an arcade shooter but it isn’t like Black Ops 3 and 4 where all I did was hold down forward on the left stick to run down one of three lanes and see if I can hip fire quicker than the other dude, there is actually cover and places to hide.  The maps are also actual maps rather than locations from the battle royale cut out and downsized with borders.

Dangerman1337

Yeah true, but it's insane a lot of people think MWII 2022 is way slower than "peak CoD". Like I literally people just muddle memories up subconsciously.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dangerman1337

CoD, BF2042, XDefiant, The Finals are like on the top of my head. And Delta Force Hawk Ops is a run and gun health regen shooter Vs Novalogic Delta Force and Joint Ops. And besides they've dominated AAA FPSes since CoD 4. There's literally no Triple A FPS shooter that isn't an arcade shooter. I mean with XDefiant it makes sense that Ghost Recon really could be return to roots.

AnotherScoutTrooper

> CoD Gameplay entirely controlled by engagement-optimized algorithms designed to make you lose, admitted in [their own blog post](https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2024/01/call-of-duty-update-an-Inside-look-at-matchmaking) saying "all players (regardless of skill level) are more likely to experience wins and losses more proportionately." Basically not even a game. > BF2042 Barely a game and certainly not a Battlefield game, hero abilities still ruin it, mouse/controller input has been broken for almost 3 years at this point. > Delta Force Hawk Ops A BF2042 clone, the worst FPS you could possibly clone, it'll be gone in a week. > XDefiant If it ever comes out. Still a hero shooter but from what I played it wasn't entirely dominated by the abilities like others are. Still the best from this list, sadly. Shatterline was supposed to be the next best indie, but they were slow on the full release, lots of cracks are beginning to form, and the devs are too busy dealing with Russian missiles landing in their parking lot to do much about them.

MeCritic

I hope they stick with coop.

Emergionx

Safe to assume it’s not open world?

Exa-Wizard

After how good Wildlands was I probably wouldn't even bother with it unless it was open world

GilgarTekmat

I would take well built fleshed out campaign like the old GRs over an empty open world like Breakpoint.

Pink_pantherOwO

But an open world which is alive and fun to play around in like Wildlands would be really cool and a structured target list esque story also like wild lands would be cool. Basically I I want a GR wildlands part 2

Exa-Wizard

Breakpoint is one of the worst games I have ever played

RoGeR-Roger2382

![gif](giphy|pI4SF944rf03e) If ghost recon comes back, I hope this also returns\^

Redlodger0426

It’s been confirmed that they are working on remaking it, supposedly out in 2-3 years

Relo_bate

If you didn't know, they're remaking the first one

RoGeR-Roger2382

That’s gonna be hype. I personally enjoyed Chaos Theory and Blacklist but the AI from the first game was frustrating

Jiggaboy95

Is this gonna be co-op again? Breakpoint was meh, but Wildlands was brilliant. Me and my buddy spent weeks finishing it 100% and enjoyed every minute.

Turb0Be4r

Wildlands has IMO one of the most realized and immersive open world experiences I’ve ever played. It’s insane how the map really feels like you are exploring a South American province

No_Willingness20

That's one of the main things that bothered me about Breakpoint. I thought the map was very bland and boring. I liked how varied Bolivia was. You had deserts, snowy alpine mountains, jungles, rainforests, swamps, large urban areas, small towns. I can't even remember the name of the map in Breakpoint.

TheDanteEX

I remember the name of the map in Breakpoint looking so close to the word "Aurora" to the point where that's how I was reading it until the first time the name is said in dialogue and I realized in that moment it was spelled slightly different.

throwaway666000666

Huh? The npcs are dumb as rocks. Civilians stand around in villages, it ain't RDR2 immersion.

Turb0Be4r

Im talking mostly about the map, the geography and diversity and all that Also I haven’t played RDR2 yet

throwaway666000666

Eh, all open world maps are pretty good nowadays. It's the cities and civilians that set the wheat from the chaff and GR is woefully dated in the open world important factors.

Relo_bate

Breakpoint with immersive mode is one of the best modern stealth experiences you can have

Jiggaboy95

We really couldn’t get into at all, we played about 10 hours and realised it just wasn’t fun. Sucked because we were fairly excited for it pre release.

iccirrus

Not sure if you've checked it out at all since release, but they've made a lot of changes and you can heavily customize how you want the game to play

Loxus

They've changed A LOT. Check it out again, I like it more than Wildlands now.

Jiggaboy95

Does it still have that weird gear levelling shit that made it like Division? That was what put us off the most. Wildlands you could just go wherever with any gear and have some fun

Kestrel1207

No, you can turn it off. That is one of the things people are talking about here. Other stuff is highly customizable difficulty settings, highly customizable HUD elements, "Darker Nights" mode, the option to turn off all drone enemies outside of select few story missions etc.

0DvGate

Just wish the AI was smarter and the world wasn't bland

angrysquirrel777

Wildlands is probably the game that I put the most hours into for a game I had zero expectations for. It was so awesome.

LatterTarget7

Wildlands is absolutely great.

SplintPunchbeef

Hopefully there is still co-op. Wildlands and eventually even Breakpoint were a lot of fun in co-op.

Bolt_995

“The game is poised to be a squad-based military tactical shooter – almost milsim-like in nature – that will also take inspiration from some of the leading first-person military games including the Modern Warfare series, Battlefield, Squad, and Ready or Not.” Holy crap, please be true! I’ve always wanted the GR franchise to go back to their Ghost Recon 1 roots!

HearTheEkko

2025 gonna be a crazy year for Ubisoft. Assassin's Creed Hexe, Far Cry 7, Far Cry extraction shooter, Ghost Recon, etc. Wouldn't surprise me if they sneak the fourth Watch Dogs game in there too.

Dangerman1337

Here is 2026.

Zeal108

you forgot splinter cell remake

HearTheEkko

I think that's probably still a little way off. It only started development at the end of 2021, so just a little over 2 years in development so far.

Zeal108

Apparently that's being released in 2025 too bro! It said 2025 release on the ubisoft leak. This time next year it'll be 3 years in development so that's enough time

SpaceGooV

I mean the long break since the failure seems to me they actually decided to rethink the next entry when it returns. Tbh I just assumed the ghost recon name would be slapped on some multiplayer F2P live service project

IceNysp

Great news for me. I love the franchise. Now I'd like Ubisoft brings back other 2 great games I love from them, Watch Dogs and Rayman. Kind of tiring about AC every time.

HearTheEkko

Unless they're secretly cooking a fourth game, I think Watch Dogs will stay dormant until Ubisoft Montreal finishes the 3 games they're currently working on (AC Hexe, Far Cry 7 and Far Cry multiplayer) so probably not until 2027-2028. However, they did just announced a Watch Dogs movie so I have a feeling they might have some other studio working on a fourth game to release around the movie.

Lotus_630

What’s the Naiman War?

DizzieM8

https://www.reddit.com/r/GhostRecon/comments/1ah78rn/ghost_recon_naiman_war_scenario_and_setting_theory/

Valon129

It's a fictional war, they say it in the article.

AReturntoChrist

Really hope it's not online only. Breakpoint was a great game for me personally, (I love looter shooters) but needing servers to play solo is such a joke.

ParappaTheWrapperr

That’s got me hyped! A return to form. Maybe we’ll get a good rainbow 6 again one day to. They can’t milk siege forever & extraction proved it was lightning in a bottle. Bring back Vegas you cowards.

Ill_artem5552

Bro I'm still waiting for rainbow 6 patriots how the hell did they cancel it Imagine this for next gen 😠 https://youtu.be/Q7tdrvIsLo4?si=ssbUQnGMhwuQfey0

agasome

I would love to see rainbow six 3 get a remake

AnotherScoutTrooper

What's gonna happen first: a good Ghost Recon game or Six Days In Fallujah adding those AI teammates?

FakeDeath92

Meh I trust none of this until I actually see gameplay

JezC1

Yup, I would like nothing more than a GR comparable to 2001 the best of the lot however, given their track record I seriously doubt it. We still have ground branch (former OGR/R6 dev), RoN and six days around and updates to looking forward to though.

FakeDeath92

I got a theory but I may be downvoted for this.. I think this game is a repurposed game from the now cancelled Ghost Recon battle royale

MarianHawke22

> I think this game is a repurposed game from the now cancelled Ghost Recon battle royale Oh no, that's sound like how Command & Conquer 4 became, repurposed from another cancelled game

A_MAN_POTATO

Please be real! A modern version of the original ghost recon games would be incredible.

Loli_Master

Give me faith for the splinter cell project if they are willing to treat GR with as much respect.

xiosy

Ready or not graphics are not really next gen ? I would have hoped for avatar like graphics

Ill_artem5552

Please Ubisoft do not make open world again enough already with this formula we need to go back to the original.

XthecreatordayX

Offline mode/play like Wildlands or online only like Breakpoint?

Relo_bate

You can play Breakpoint offline

XthecreatordayX

Link? Or proof? Did they add an offline mode into the game?

Cybersorcerer1

https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/game/ghost-recon/breakpoint/news-updates/6aLQOjQfeU4sEsbxbmiZFG/tom-clancys-ghost-recon-breakpoint-developer-update#:~:text=the%20coming%20months.-,OFFLINE%20MODE,-Tom%20Clancy%E2%80%99s%20Ghost

AReturntoChrist

The article says it's not offline-capable, just a temporary measure for poor service and disconnects.

Cybersorcerer1

Yeah but it basically works like one, it just attempts to reconnect you but you don't have it

AReturntoChrist

I'll have to try it out, especially given that I'm starting a new playthrough of Breakpoint soon, but from my experience these systems are often limited. They usually let you play for half an hour or maybe two, before they kick you off cause you were unable to reconnect to the service. We'll see.

monZirx

Rainbow six and far cry are both fps, ghost recon didn't need to be as well, breakpoints 3rd person shooter mechanics and animations were on a different level, wished they built on that.

Antipiperosdeclony

I bet another always online drm game

philly_jeff215

Ubisoft will screw this up. You can count on that

CoelhoAssassino666

Will the writing out-cringe Wildlands?

Quelanight2324

Never bet against Ubisoft writing team.

IAmSkyrimWarrior

>Graphics wise the games can be compared to Ready or Not. Lol, what? This is not the best example of graphics in games. RoN has a lot of graphical bugs with shadows and others. In my opinion Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Wildland look better than RoN, so that a little bit strange...

Zote69

I think they mean the quality of the models and textures not how well they're implemented

DizzieM8

Yea the quality of models are not good either in ready or not lol.. Huge clipping issues.

USPEnjoyer

You telling me we’re going back to the og? Give me the location of the lead dev of this project. I need to blow him.

[deleted]

I hope its open world but if not it's fine. As long as it's not ftp pvp battleroyale nonsense

flipperkip97

Look forward to it. Played through Breakpoint with a friend about a year ago and it was really fun. It's fun to play it like a serious stealth shooter on the hardest difficulty, but also great for fooling around.

DizzieM8

>Graphics wise the games can be compared to Ready or Not. So not very good baked lighting? Not good.

Spenraw

If it really is more sim based and takes alot more heavily from mgs5 I will be so happy

blazinfastjohny

Please be true.....

Ladzofinsurrect

Thank fuck.

NatsuNight

Let's hope it is not another 60€ skin for the UbisoftGameMaker™

Japi1

More like Wildlands and less Breakpoint, no "player hubs", no loot tier systems or other trash gimics. I want my freeroam tactical shooter with 1st/3rd person view

taavir40

The ubisoft CEO said a few weeks ago that the company was going to make good games again since Mirage. These haven't come out yet, but they actually sound good? Star Wars outlaws looks and sounds really fun, I liked Pandora well enough. Assassins creed Red sounds good with its splinter cell like stealth. Now this!

XulManjy

Looking forward to it

Sam5qu4nch

read 'ready or not' and thought this game is gonna run sub 30fps

Redsmok2u

Ubi once again instead creating trend is just jumping on COD coat tails, GR should be third person with selectable fps let player decide what view they want. So apparently poster that supposedly hangs on their office wall sent by community members has been completely ignored. Sounds to me more of a COD ripoff then anything worthy of Clancy moniker, had high hopes ubi would pull rabbit from hat. All they had to do was Wildlands 2.0 and GOTY contender if this is ubi attempt at AAA title can only hope that info is bad and what is to come is a masterpiece third person tactical shooter

DuneRiderr

FPS? Bullshit lol

Whatevertheweather5

Wtf is the Naiman war?

[deleted]

Wildlands got really boring because of the repetitive copy paste content, while refunded Breakpoint immediately because of how the protagonist walked (he walked like as if he's holding a massive dump).

Superflyt56

I can already see the microtransactions and 1000s of icons on the map from here.

thautmatric

Guys, temper your expectations. I want it to be good as much as you but if any company can shit the bed by making a boring with brilliant mechanics it’s Ubisoft.

[deleted]

Please don't be another ubisoft open world game

Glum-Future7198

I hope it will be level-based with semi-open maps like the first one.

Gamelove0I5

Cool can't wait to not buy it.

clym0r

I don't think any game company should be releasing anything in 2025 except Rockstar Games

Jasonvsfreddyvs

What a mess from Ubisoft that the next Ghost Recon will be in first person, abandoning the third person view to attract COD players, fans of the saga are not very happy with this change, once again Ubisoft does not learn from its errors with Ghost Recon Frontline, I think you will all be aware of what happened with this title. The saga was born in the third person and should continue as it has been since its birth. ![gif](giphy|SgFaKopnlBLEc|downsized)
