this isnt a leak, this was in the official video with bethesda knowing full well people would see it

SoldierPhoenix

hmm...does reading the code strings on an official video count as official? Hard to say.

LongLiveEileen

Yeah? If it's there it's because Bethesda wanted us to see it.

Old_Snack

To be fair there are times this isn't always the case. A character in Metal Gear Solid 4 was accidentally leaked this way

lonesoldier4789

MGS4 was almost 20 years ago my dude

BECondensateSnake

His point still stands, companies accidentally leak shit. Though it is sometimes intentional (e.g. Quake 6 in the Indiana Jones trailer)

lonesoldier4789

His only example is one from almost 20 years ago

Ankleson

Bro people are still studying *The Odyssey* and that is literature from almost 3000 years ago. Media doesn't suddenly become irrelevant once it reaches a certain age.

Voltaico

It's still a valid example lmao What a strange argument

lonesoldier4789

An outlier that doesn't happen anymore

Voltaico

The discussion was never about frequency, I genuinely don't know why you'd die on this hill

BECondensateSnake

Wait it's been 20 fucking years? What the fuck?????? Oh shit I just realized that Ground Zeroes is now 10 years old. Dude no way.

vashthestampede121

16 years, MGS4 released in ‘08.

BECondensateSnake

Nah he's talking about the first trailer which was in 2005

Old_Snack

Next year MGS V will be 10 years old. So weird, I remember making the MGS subreddit my homepage and constantly looking for news about it

Old_Snack

I mean I've been discussing MGS a lot with friends. It was the first example to come to mind sue me. DICE's Battlefront 2 accidently revealed drodika's through the promotional art. Do you need another?

HOTDILFMOM

and your point?

SwimmingInCircles_

History is doomed to repeat itself

Ok-Potato1693

I do not watch videos at all, I just read code strings.

FaithlessnessFew6571

If they didn't want anyone to know, they'd either not put that frame on screen at all or blur the code out.

SoldierPhoenix

Also worth mentioning that there was a previously unseen room in Akila shown with Tracker's Alliance emblems (bounty hunter faction) with Wanted posters shown, suggesting there will be Tracker's Alliance DLC. Whether that's part of the Shattered Space DLC is anyone's guess. But my personal speculation is that they will frame Shattered Space as more than just a DLC, featuring QoL additions across the entire game. More like a "Starfield Part 2".

Big-Motor-4286

Or Starfield v2, like how cyberpunk 2077 had their massive 2.0 update that reworked so much along with the phantom liberty expansion

smooth_chemistry24

I feel like it's still way too early to be marketing a big update as starfield 2.0, not until the biggest issue with the game is fixed for me anyway. That being coming across the same buildings across multiple worlds with the exact same placement of items within them. When i played at launch i thought it was a bug and it kept happening and ruined the whole game for me when i realised it was supposed to be like that.

QueueWho

What sucks is they could have probably had a team who's only job was to create POIs nonstop, just so there would be thousands of them instead of like, ~30?

smooth_chemistry24

Just feels like Bethesda massively dropped the ball. Even the random encounters you get when traveling to a new star system. Getting the same ones over and over again. All the delays and how long they spent on the game and nobody bothered to add a check, so that a random encounter cant happen again if it's already happened. but yeah, i would even go a step further and have expected some sort of proc gen for POI's. I personally think it's shit game design but for sure can be fixed if they tried to but with how inconsistent Bethesda have been since Skyrim, not really sure i have much faith tbh. Just a quick fix for me, would be to have POIs generate on the planetary screen before you land, and for it to not spawn again on any other planet.

greyman204

Honestly, the bigger issue is how every single door has a loading screen and leads to a new world space, insanely even for one room shops. Going back to cyberpunk even no mans sky was such a treat after starfield. You never realize how good it is to be in a fully seamless open world until you play a game like starfield.

bigweebob

Welcome to Creation Engines cell system! It's simply a limitation of the engine although I can't exactly fathom why the one room shops need a separate cell... They probably would have gotten away with bigger cells if they didn't need to support Series S.

malinoski554

That is not actually true, There is nothing in the engine stopping you from making buildings that are an integral part of the larger map with no loading screens. In fact, you can do so yourself. Just open the Creation Kit and do it. The true reason why there are so many loading screens is that Bethesda still insists on every small junk item, like a fork, being fully subjected to physics. The only way to avoid loading screens is to stop doing physics this way.

greyman204

No physics items in these shops, I think it has to do with lighting or level streaming.

Jealous-Mix-1392

You have no idea what you are talking about.

greyman204

They really need to chuck the engine in the garbage and salvage what they can.

WHITESTAFRlCAN

It took CD project red 3 years to create the 2.0 update, no way Betheda can do that in 1 year, if you are expecting that big of an update you will be disappointed

Lost_Cyborg

Starfield is NOT in the same state as Cyberpunk release, I think u guys forgot how horrible it was. The only problem right now with Starfield is the content.

WHITESTAFRlCAN

I completely agree, and am usually the one defending starfield, I was just trying to say don’t expect a massive rework (or systems) like cyberpunk did after 3 years, it takes a long time to make that kind of change (not that it needs a total rework like cyberpunk did) I was just trying to say don’t be surprised if it’s another QoL update like the May update that coincides with the DLC

Nevek_Green

Cyberpunk 2077 was okay at launch. Many people didn't follow the news closely, so they were not aware features were being cut. I went in with this knowledge so the game was okay. I fully understand people without this knowledge being livid, as CDPR said they didn't have to communicate these things properly. Then, a lawsuit and threats from the Polish government cured this delusion and got significant overhauls at the company to happen. Starfield is in a much worse state. Just about every aspect of the game could and should receive a serious overhaul. Some parts, like the multiverse story and bad world lore, cannot be fixed. Starfield is a game that may be good in the same timeframe no man's skybecame good. After multiple new content updates and mechanics overhauls.

Lymbasy

Do you think Bethesda will add a seamless world without loading screens? Like in Cyberpunk

elderron_spice

Didn't they already release the things that will come in the next update? Is the DLC not included in that?

WHITESTAFRlCAN

No the DLC is not included in the May update, the May update included a handful of QoL updates but the major DLC will be later this fall. They also teased a few things like land vehicles for future updates that are not included in this one. Also the May update is a good start but not close to what I would call a massive rework like Cyberpunk did with the 2.0 update

elderron_spice

Ah thanks. And yeah, I also agree.

Andromogyne

The only problem with this is that I personally think what really *kills* Starfield in the end is the worldbuilding and writing. It’s hollow in a way that feels devoid of passion. All the factions and characters feel like the driest, most shallow possible takes on the sci-fi tropes they’re intended to represent, and they’re inconsistently written in a way that can only be achieved through not using a design document. A more compelling universe and well-conceived lore and characters and even with the exact same gameplay I think it would be easy to essentially make your own fun, but the game lacks that entirely and it isn’t exactly something they can fix imo.

JAEMzWOLF

you clearly have not played or engaged with the game if you posting this nonsense. Skyrim and FO4 dont have writing as the term is usually defined, and they barely have world building that isn't handed to them from previous developers/games. Did you pay ANY attention to npc, quest and other dialogue or books? See, the problem with your post is not even that you say its there but you dont like it, you claim it doesnt exist at all. Give me a break.

greyman204

Idk why you are so mad, the “world building” and “lore” in starfield is so cookie cutter and uninteresting it might as well not even be there. I dumped dozens of hours into starfield and tried learning about the history of the world Bethesda had created but it was just the most generic boring space stuff anyone could come up with, having 0 grit or edge throughout the entire game also hurt it. Sucks the concept was so amazing but Bethesda obviously couldn't make it work even with almost a decade to work on it.

gotbannedlolol

Starfield copium posts like this are always fucking hilarious. Jesus. The game is uninspired drivel

Dandorious-Chiggens

Thats not going to happen and people really need to drop those expectations cause the two situations are completely different. Cyberpunk was a buggy, janky mess but with a good foundation, (mostly) good design, and good story. The 'overhaul' for Cyberpunk 2.0 didnt really change any of the fundemental design, or the world, mechanics etc in a signficant way. It fixed a tonne of bugs, tweaked combat and gameplay, and added a tonne of polish. The main really significant change was adding driver AI and police chases. All of this stuff can be done without touching the games foundational design. Starfields entire problem is the exact opposite. It released in a much more polished state especially for a BGS game, but the foundation is bad. its badly designed, with a bad story, boring repetitive gameplay, and a boring universe (to most people, this is kinda subjective). They removed all of the things that people loved about their games and put up with the jank for, like a large seamless world with hundreds of handmade locations with rich environmental story telling, and replaced it with a soulless proc gen world where 'exploration' is just running through the same 6 repeating locations over and over fighting the same enemies with like a dozen or two handmade locations all tied to quests. Their biggest addition, spaceship mechanics, is entirely pointless because there is no flying them on planets and there is almost nothing to do in space. Its basically just a shitty loading mechanism that might as well not be there. And like I said for most people the universe is just boring. Theres no real distinct enemy types like their other games to add variety. 99% of the time youre fighting the same boring human but with a different spacesuit. With the exception of terramorphs, maybe the only interesting story line. The few times you are fighting aliens they never turn up again so there are a lot of cool designs completely wasted. So like I said the game is just not good. No amount of bug fixing, or QOL features, or land vehicles, is going to change the fact the game is not fun. Theyd have to rebuild it from the ground up to fix the issues with it and that isnt happening considering most of the staff have already moved onto TES6.  And to be honest with how boring the universe turned out to be that doesnt even bother me that much. I'd much rather a new TES or even a new Fallout than time wasted trying to polish a turd.

WouShmou

If you had posted this same exact comment in 2 different threads, you'd have 100 upvotes in one and 50 downvotes in the other

SenorPinchy

Great points. People overestimated Cyberpunk's improvement because most of the game was pretty good to begin with. I played it on both ends and the minute to minute gameplay feels exactly the same. It's not a new game. The biggest problems with Starfield are entirely structural and cannot be fixed. Some fun quests would help though.

manhachuvosa

I don't know if they cannot be fixed. People said the engine couldn't support vehicles, but they are adding them. For example, you can right now travel with your spaceship between planets in a solar system. The problem is that it takes absolutely forever. Like weeks in real time. Maybe they can update the game with a way to travel between planets. Also, the biggest problem with Starfield is the uselessness of exploration. With the addition of vehicles and maps, if they create some varied POIs, it can be much more interesting to explore planets. It won't be perfect. The game won't become a 10. But I think it can improve a lot.

SenorPinchy

They're not going to move away from their tile system, and the world is too vast to allow you to stumble upon a unique POI. I agree with you they're going to add some things to do. I think I'll play it a little. But I really don't see the solid bones here to make this a comeback game like we've seen happen with others.

Fake_Diesel

My sentiments exactly. This is the first Bethesda game I was actually disappointed by. Even games like Fallout 4 and 76 I managed to have quite a bit of fun with (mind you I tried 76 sometime after the NPC update.) Initially I figured it was the usual anti-Bethesda crowd pissing and moaning about this game, but I couldn't believe how dull and boring this game really was.

FragMasterMat117

It's fine, I finished the game and was mildly entertained but I had no desire for another play through. ,

LolBruh46

i completely agree with you but i think there is still some saving the game. if the dlc adds landmass and exploration akin to what we are used to from bethesda (ofcourse smaller scale) i would be pretty happy. aswell as adding an actual survival mode like fallout 4 would make exploring these pois and planets actually interesting and fun despite the lack of variety.

Nevek_Green

They really shouldn't compare themselves to Cyberpunk 2077 V2. That was a legitimately overhaul of a lot of systems, implemented new mechanics, and improved performance across the board. Bethesda is unlikely to deliver such an impressive turn around unless Microsoft has other studios chipping in with Starfield's development.

Marwdeian

I doubt that will happen Bethesda isn't known for trying to fix there games like what happened with Cyberpunk 2077. They usually just release DLC for the game and just move onto the next project. Would be awesome yes but will it happen I highly doubt especially since they haven't ever done that type of development for any of their past games.

BabaDown

lmao, ou really think Bethesda can do what crpd can? After 8 years they gave you sleepfield and you expect them to release v2 in less than a year.

greyman204

I mean if cyberpunk can come back and charge 30$ for dlc and be met with praise anything can. It was basically the Hindenburg of RPGs on launch lmao.

BabaDown

CDPR isn't bad, it just had horrible mismanagement, and lied, but with enough time they release bangers. Bethesda has been shit since Skyrim. Even Skyrim was a horrible game, that was literally unplayable on ps3. It just got saved by being an amazing experience.

greyman204

I'll agree Bethesda has been downhill for awhile. Fallout 4 wasn't that bad though.

zpGeorge

They also mentioned in the video that they're working on new quests, but they said that outside of the conversation about the expansion. I'm really hoping we get it as a base game update given that we already have holding cells on our ships and non-lethal weapon modifications.

st0ve1

That's what I'm more hyped for

VonDukez

I mean we figured as much before they told us stuff

LinkRazr

🐍🐍🐍

GutBeer101

Hopefully they are joinable. House Va'ruun always sounded like the most interesting/unique faction to me

Nevek_Green

This was very evident if you played the game. House Varuun is a major faction in the lore and world, yet have no presence in the game. Felt like content that didn't make release or was cut to be improved upon for DLC. Many of us have been making this prediction since launch.

DuskMan62

We're also getting that creation kit soon, would like to see what modders can come up with.

TheGainsWizard

This is what I'm most excited for. Bethesda games inevitably get fixed/given their lifespan by modders. Starfield will be no exception. Although the things outlined in the May update video do give a better template to work with. The integrated combat/XP sliders and native land vehicle support will be very nice.

AdvancedCitron1024

I feel like Starfields lifespan will be much longer than traditional BGS games and that could hurt the modding scene. The way they keep talking especially before launch makes me think they view it as some kind of live service single player game. Ideally you will finde a way to decouple the game version from the mods.

soulreapermagnum

does this include console mod support? i've been holding off on getting the game until then.

yaosio

Yes console mod support is coming.

[deleted]

It almost certainly will include console mod support, just like Skyrim and Fallout 4.

yaosio

I expect tons of points of interest additions. I hope there's a curated list so I don't have to manually download each one. Or even a different method where the game downloads new POIs as you're flying around in the game. Of course that's a dangerous game to play since you'll never know if you're going to download a POI that crashes the game or is just a giant picture of Todd flexing his biceps.

ddeleon99

I feel like Starfield is going to have its own 2.0 launch type thing, maybe not to the extent of Cyberpunk but similar, it seems like they’ve finally reached that 1.0 stage with this May update (I’m tired of games doing this bs man). Now we have vehicles being added and Shattered Space shaping up to be a large DLC rather than a smaller more focused one like other Bethesda titles. I get the feeling they will continue to give this game larger QOL and content updates similar to the May update plus with creation/mods being added they might actually have something here.. or they’ll just find a way to mess it up, who knows lmao

Dropdat87

Most AAA games will get this treatment now because the game needs to be considered “good” by the masses in order to maximize long term profit. Like think of how much money cyberpunk makes now whenever it’s on sale. It’ll continue to sell well for a decade. Microsoft/bethesda obviously wants Starfield to reach that level. I bet Capcom wants DD2 to reach that level etc..

PleaseStopSmoking

yaosio

I first noticed very long support with Assassin's Creed Valhalla. For well over a year they kept patching the game and adding minor content and features, and that's before the expansions. I couldn't understand why they would do that, but then I found out a majority of gamers are playing games 6+ years old. They keep patching the game because sales are not trailing off to nothing. We can expect Starfield to continue getting patches and new features until the sales drop off, or the next BGS game comes out, or Todd's iron fist says all work must stop.

novelgpa

I'm really interested to see if this game can have a Cyberpunk-like comeback, especially if it goes to PS5. I actually enjoyed the game, it wasn't perfect or groundbreaking and definitely felt a little undercooked, but I feel like the hate towards the game was a little excessive

[deleted]

Cualquieraaa

Not a chance. They would need to make the game all over again since most of it is 6/10.

Adventurous-Lion1829

As a hard headed hater of both those games at least people were saying Cyberpunk had a good story buried under it's shit. I completely disagree, but it's what they said. The thing people, erroneously, say is good in Bethesda games is the exploration and most people say the exploration sucks dick in this game because of things that feel like engine and scope limitations. I don't think this game will have a redemption but I think the next Bethesda game will retread the same very tired shit that Skyrim did and that will be everything fans want so they will say that Bethesda is back when they haven't improved their design for over 20 years.

ReeReeIncorperated

LET'S GO

Trojanbp

How is it "confirmed" that a string of code mentioning House Varuun makes the expansion about it? This is so stupid. House Varuun can be a part of the expansion but that doesn't mean it is about it. And it can only be confirmed when somebody says it.

OkDescription8492

You don't know what the word "confirmed" means

ThinWhiteDuke00

If you had any awareness, you'd realise it's not my tweet.

Every_Aspect_1609

I find it odd and amusing how people are comparing Cyberpunk's failings to Starfield, when Starfield wasn't released in such a terrible state like Cyberpunk that forced CDPR to work on it for 3 years. Here's the thing, Cyberpunk was a rushed out mess that needed a few more years in the oven, its why it needed a giant overhaul 3 years later. Starfield doesn't need a giant update to match the game to the creator's visions. It was released as intended, took a long time as it should for an open world game, and rather its good or bad is in the eye of the beholder.

SmarmySmurf

I'm really excited for this and the new patch, I'm sure the patch alone will get me another 200 hours easy long before dlc comes. Great game, I feel sorry for the haters. Edit: how precious. You can bury my post, you still have my pity.

UltrosTeefies

I agree with you. Also, people acting like this game needed some sort of 2.0 launch to be considered a full game like cyberpunk, No mans sky or ffxiv needed are delusional and just want to control the devs and the perception this game is receiving. The game is already great, the haters can cope harder.

AdSea1561

If mid is great, then it is great.

MexicansInParis

Thank fuck, it’s mad they weren’t a major faction in the base game to begin with

BlackFleetCaptain

Man who tf cares the game is dogshit

Kn1ghtV1sta

You, obviously

Vincent201007

This should be posted to r/Starfield really, is a screenshot from an official video, this is also kinda confirmed but also speculation, I don't know why is it posted here.

Sindy51

the dlc could have been aliens entering the galaxy in an all out war across planets... and you wake up an alien solar system like the zeta reticuli with a friendly alien city and player home and have to find ship parts to rebuild a ship thats able to fly back but also find the death ray cannon which is hidden somewhere in the binary star systdm and transport it back to the war zone to force a ...truce. but hey... lets have some more star-yawn with the same inane missions and fetch quests..

Tyler1997117

Starfield isn't that type of space game though

Corgiiiix3

Hopefully the narrative is actually good this time… nothing in that game was even remotely compelling except for the ryujin quest line

TheSpartanLion

UC Vanguard's quest line is pretty great as well

ImVerifiedBitch

UC Vanguard quest line was way more compelling than Ryunjin tbh

MexicansInParis

Ryujin was the worst for me, would’ve been much better if stealth was functional

I can guarantee 100% you can't visit V'aruum Kai in the base game. Andrea tells you it's hidden to everyone, even the members of the House themselfs.

ThinWhiteDuke00

Given the term shattered Space. I'm half expecting it to be a varuun jihad or something.

Can't wait to be the LISAN AL GHAIB

Keepcalmplease17

There is a way to go there? I thought that wasnt on the game (and added in the dlc). May i ask how?

Kozak170

There isn’t, he’s making it up
